ITunes not recognizing iPhone 4S (Tried everything)

I have tried everything possible to try and get iTunes to recognize my phone. Nothing has worked. I have uninstalled everything to do with Apple, reinstalled, restart my computer, put my phone in recovery mode, shut off internet while doing those again, tried a different cord and nothing worked. I'm not sure what else there is to do. I haven't called Apple because most likely there isn't an answer they can give me. I don't have another computer to try this on so I can't do that. If anybody could help me it would be greatly appreciated. (Also sorry if this is the wrong section )

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone 5 iO7 on Windows 7

I have exhausted myself dealing with this problem. My iTunes will not recognize my iPhone 5. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and my computer recognizes the phone when i plug it in, however, my iTunes does not so I am not able to sync any music. I have tried practically everything I have found on the internet to fix this problem and even the people at the Apple store could not help me with my problem. I have uninstalled and installed all Apple related programs, I have insured that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is working correctly but nothing seems to fix the problem. I just don't know what to do anymore because nothing seems to work. I have followed the suggestions contained in the following discussions but nothing seems to work. Thank you for your help.

    Had this problem this morning.
Once in the past had to erase my iphone and reload it.That was unpleasant.
    This morning had the problem,too.
Plugged in my iphone directly into the Imac (not hub) then clicked shut down on the imac.
Pressed the button in the back while the iphone was still plugged in-and when rebooted iphone was visable in itunes.
    Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I'm using a MacBook Air and I just tried this with my laptop - shutting down the computer all the say (not restarting it) and then booting it back up with the phone plugged in. It didn't work but it was worth a shot! Thank you!

I had this exact same problem and just figured out how to fix it. I had to reload the driver on the iphone5 in order for itunes to recognize the device. Follow the steps here to see if you might need to do the same thing. Once I reinstalled the driver, everything works fine and I'm now able to sync with itunes again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have seen a TON of posts like mine where this is the solution. Unfortunately, I am on a Mac not Windows so the driver isn't the problem.

  • ITunes does not detect iPhones/iPods - tried everything

Okay, so 2 months ago I got my new Macbook Pro 17". iTunes wouldn't detect my iphone or any other iphone. I tried everything suggested on these forums (hopefully not true), but couldn't get it to work. I gave up and was hoping some sort of itunes update would solve it. Well itunes has been updated and even the OS has been updated to Snow Leopard. It didn't help
I am willing to try anything you suggest, so please keep them coming. Really want to get this sorted now.
Thanks so much for all your help.

Great to hear you have resolved the problem. I am running Tiger 10.4.7 not your 10.6.1 which I beleive is Leopard which I cannot update to as my computer is not suitable. Have you heard if anyone with my OS version has had success. I have tried removing iTunes v9 and then downloading v8.2.1, however I am still unable to gat iTunes to open when I connect my iPhone and iTunes does not acknowledge the connection in the side bar.
    Suggestions please.

  • No sound from iPhone & iTunes not recognizing iPhones.

I visited Genius Bar today because my home button was sometimes not working. As a result, my home button is fine, but iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone and it acts like it's on 'silent' even though it's not.

Iphone4 - No sound or voice when call connected
Is anyone up for the challenge on this one? I’ve tried everything here:
The microphone and speaker works using the microphone on voice memos
The speaker works for music and to pick up voicemail.
There is no ringing sound when making a call, I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me      when the call is connected.
    I have:
Cleaned the docking connection of any dirt/fluff
    Cleaned the headphone jack chamber
    Cleaned the receiver
    Restored on factory settings
Restored to factory settings in DFU mode
    All to no avail!!
I  have not taken it apart to put a piece of plastic on the audio chip as  suggested here because I don’t think that will help as the speaker and  microphone work. It is outside warranty. Handing it back to Apple is the  easy option but I can upgrade soon and anyway, I am convinced some  fantastic individual out there has the solution or at least tell me what  is going on!!

  • IMac/iTunes not recognizing iPhone 5s

I have a 2010 iMac running OS X Yosemite (10.10.3) and iTunes 12.1.2.27.  I also have the following IOS devices all running 8.3 of IOS:
    iPhone 5s
    iPhone 5
    iPad Air 2
    iPad Air
iTunes recognizes the iPhone 5 and both iPads every time right away.  It fails to recognize the iPhone 5s 95% of the  time.  I can't point to any logical reason why but occasionally, the iMac/iTunes will recognize the iPhone 5s.  I've been into the genius bar twice.  The phone was recognized both times.  It is also recognized if I plug it into my Windows PC.  It's not the cable or USB port because if I plug in one of my other devices, they are immediately recognized. It's not the hardware of the iPhone 5s because it is recognized by the genius bar laptops and my Windows PC.
I have a support ticket open with Apple and Level 2 is working on it but I thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has any suggestions.  It acts like it is a software conflict somewhere in my iMac.  If you have any suggestions other than the standard Apple support doc of try these things when you can't connect, please post them there.   Thanks.

  • Windows 7 x64 bit and iTunes not recognizing iPhone 3GS

    Hello,
I'm sorry to bring this up again and I know the community has seen it a million times but I'm definately needing someone to point me in the right direction. I have an Acer 5552 Laptop with Windows 7 x64 bit. It does not have the Intel P55 chipset as what I have read before in these discussions, so updating the BIOS will not work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes x64 bit, removed and reinstalled the drivers and Apple Mobile Support software (which should do it by removing iTunes as a whole) and whenever I hook my iPhone to my laptop for a second sync it takes a long time to back up and then it gives an error, then when i try to connect it again iTunes says that the iPhone cannot be recognized and needs to be restored. I have done this 3 times in the past 2 months. This is a brand new laptop that I have. There should be no reason for this to happen unless I'm missing something. Is there any workaround to this? for the time being I'm syncing everything on an old, slow desktop that has Windows XP. It's worked with my old laptop which had XP on it great but sadly I gave my old laptop to my dad which he now uses to sync his iPhone with now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..also if anyone has the same laptop model I have and have Windows 7 x64 on it..please let me know what you did if you got your 3GS to sync all the time with no problems.
    Thank you very much.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone 4s.

Hello, So I plug my iPhone 4s into my computer, and I have tried multiple USB ports on this computer, and my computer will recognize it right away and start charging it, but iTunes will not recognize the device, therefore I cannot sync.  Although I can plug in my iPod Nano 2nd Gen (yes I know it is old but it works fine for me) and it will be recognized by iTunes just fine and I can sync. I am wandering if there is a plugin for iTunes that I need just for the iPhone 4s or.? It gets recognized and I can sync it just fine on my laptop, but on my desktop iTunes just will not recognize.
PS. My desktop is PC not mac.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Please!
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Itunes not recognizing iphone 3gs or ipod touch 4th gen

My two sons ipod touch 4th generations were not being recognized by itunes, (they were previously, and I have not changed anything). I went through apple supports steps up to uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.
They are still not being recognized and now my iphone isn't either.
The computer sees them all and asks if I want to download photos from them etc.
itunes is seeing my ipod shuffle and my 2nd gen ipod ok.
My iphone and the ipod touches are running on version 4.3.5.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPod Classic; tried many solutions but none seem to work

    Dear Apple Support Community,
I just dug up my 6 year old iPod Classic from the grave and would like to start using it again as my HTC's headphone jack is extremely faulty lately. My iPod Classic is completely empty - I have no music, no photos, nor videos on it.
My problem is that on my Windows 8 Laptop, Windows is able to read the iPod, however, iTunes cannot. I went over to the Support page and tried almost every recommended solution out there, and nothing seems to work.
    I have:
    Tried different USB ports
Performed a Restore/Recovery after selecting 'Format' from Windows ExplorerIt is interesting to note that, whilst iTunes doesn't read the iPod normally, it did show up in the button (Spotlight button?) next to the iTunes button when performing a Restore
Uninstalled and Reinstalled every Apple application and program from my Laptop, including iTunes, Mobile Support, Bonjour, and more, and also, deleting any remaining folders related to Apple.
I have tried alternatives to iTunes such as CopyTrans and Syncios, but all seem to fail.
    Troubleshooted my iPod various times
Restarted any Apple related Service as well as any Processes from Task Manager
Searched for Updates on Device manager -> Apple Driver and everything is up to date
    It's worth pointing out that:
When opening the iPod folder in Windows Explorer (after enabling Hidden Folders), inside the 'iPod_Control' folder, there is no 'Music' folder; not sure if this is intentional or simply because there is no music file on my iPod.
The Software Version (which displays prior selecting 'Restore') is 2.0.1. If this is outdated, the option to Update Software is greyed out and unavailable.
My iTunes is up to date.
iTunes does tend to freeze up when attempting to read the device, but is perfectly fine after a while, it just does not display the device (implying it must have failed to detect it).
It is the first time using iTunes on this laptop (laptop is 4 months old), and has never had an Apple Device connected to it before.
iPod and iTunes used to work fine 6 years ago on a different PC which is no longer at me.
If anyone could shed some light on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Please do not hesitate for any further information related to both iPod or Laptop.

  • Itunes not recognizing iphone no update

I am trying to use my wifes old Iphone 1st gen. to use as an Itouch. It doesnt have a sim card and my computer connects it to itunes but does not allow synchronization. Any Ideas?
    Thanks

Same situation here. Original iphone, tried updating to 3.0. In the middle of the update the USB disconnects and reconnects twice, then the itunes doesn't recognize the iphone any longer. I have a Macbook pro and am running this in a parallels window. I switched to the Mac side and ran the restore update from there and it worked fine. The windows version of itunes will not recognize the iphone now, even though XP does. I need this to work with the windows version, as I use outlook for contacts, etc. and the mac version wont sync these records.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone without base station

I recently bought a new case for my iPhone and it is hard to take off. I usually put my phone on the base station but when I take the wire out of the base and plug it directly into the phone, iTunes does not recognize it. I have tried to connect it with iTunes open/closed, rebooted. BTW this is XP. Any ideas?

    FYI:
I figured it out. I was using an older iPod cable that was plugged into the base. That seemed to work fine but when I plugged the cable directly into the phone it did not stay connected. I switched cables and am now using the one that come with the iPhone. I haven't had any disconnects yet and it seems to be charging correctly.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone 3GS on Windows 7

Hi guys, I knew it is an old topic. I just want to know if there was a solution to this sucking problem.
The problem is that the iTunes simply doesn't recognize my iPhone while the Windows does. The related services runs well and the iPhone was recognized as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in the device manager.
btw. I'm not an Apple fan nor do I like the philosophy of Apple. I didn't want to buy an iPhone for myself. But unfortunately I received one as a gift. And now I have to bother you guys and waste my time on it:(
But anyhow thank you if you can help me.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone 6 plus

When I connect my iPhone 6 Plus to my Mac Book Pro, iTunes launches and eventually gives the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the phone because the device timed out."
Is anyone aware of a setting which might be causing this?
    OS X 10.10.1
    MacBook Pro Mid 2012
    iPhone 6 Plus 8.1.1

    Hello Beaver,
Typically with that alert, that is an issue with the connection over USB. Take a look at the article below to get it sorted out. Start with trying a different cable if you have one or just simply moving over to a different port.
