Itunes not recognizing my Ipad

I just got a new Ipad and Itunes (Windows XP) will not recognize it. It recognized the "new device" when I first plugged it in, but have had no luck after that.

What version of iTunes do you have installed? I believe an iPad running iOS3 needed iTunes 9.2.2 and it appears that an iPad running iOS4 needs iTunes 10.1. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

  • Itunes is not recognizing my ipad wirelessly

All of a sudden iTunes is not recognizing my iPad through my wireless network. It does recognize my phone however. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, turning my iPad off and on and everything. Still nothing. This just started yesterday.

Have you checked to make sure that the iPad is still set for WiFi sync in iTunes in the Summary Pane of iTunes? Sometime settings go wonky - it happened to me tonight.
Connect the with the cable again to check the setting - if iTunes is not seeing the iPad via wifi you will have to use the cable. So connect again - check the settings - sync with the cable again - then select the WiFi option again and click on Apply. Let the changes apply and eject the iPad.
Quit iTunes, restart your computer and then try again.

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

iTunes is not recognizing my iPad, I am using windows 8 on my PC

Do you have iTunes 11? If not, upgrade.
    Try a different USB port
Try a different cable if you have one.
Give your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. let it reboot and try again.

what will i do with my ipad 2 ios 5.0.1 stuck on white apple logo and itunes not recognized it. i'll always try to press and hold both the home botton and sleep/wake button but nothings happen.

if that dose not work then you can always put it into DFU mode by connecting to your computer and holding down the home button and sleep/wake button for excatly 10 seconds and then relesing the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the homebutton till iTunes tells you it has detected an iPad in recovery mode then just do a restore

iPad is not responding. It ONLY shows an iTunes icon and a USB cable in the middle of an all black screen. I have tried to reset it manually and via iTunes (not responsive), linked it to iTunes (not recognized), etc. Nothing works. This happened after an iTunes updated, after I was asked to "restore" my iPad to factory settings.

Thanks, King_Penguin. Yes, I tryied putting the iPad into recovery mode. It freezes in the black screen with the iTunes and USB cable. When I followed the instructions and then started iTunes, I received the following message: "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-424040)".
I have unistalled iTunes three times already and donloaded and installed three new versions. No luck.
    Thanks a billion once again!

  • Iphoto is not recognizing my iPad as a device to import pictures

my iPad is connected to my macbook pro, but it is not recognizing my iPad as a "device" to be able to import pictures/videos.

Is the device recognized in iTunes when you connect it with the USB cable?

  • Windows PC not recognizing my iPad

plugged iPad into my Dell laptop (first time in a while) and get message that iPad cannot be recognized because there is a lower version of iTunes present.  Not sure if that meant on the PC or on the iPad.  Downloaded the upgrade on the PC, but still not recognition of iPad.  Click on iTunes button on iPad but cannot find nor am I prompted to download any updated version of iTunes.
All I am trying to do is transfer some photos from my PC to the iPad.  This is INSANE on how difficult this process is.
Any help would be appreciated.  I am sure it is a simple fix, but there is no obvious instruction that I can find to help me out.

not sure what you mean when you say 'i have updated the iOS on my iPad' - I have not done anything to the iPad yet.  I did download the latest version of iTunes on the laptop.  That should be current.  The iTunes on my laptop is not recognizing the iPad....and giving me a warning that the iPad needs to be updated.
I do not know how to update my iPad, I guess.

  • Itunes not seeing my ipad.  Have turned it on/off and the computer too, didn't help., Itunes not seeing my ipad.  Have turned it on/off and the computer too, didn't help.

Itunes is not recognizing my Ipad.  I tried to restore the Ipad settings when the syncing wasn't working - well Itunes was getting stuck and wasn't responding.  Now the IPad icon isn't showing up in Itunes when I connect.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • ITunes Not Recognizing my iPod Touch after Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

After upgrading from Tiger (10.4.x) to Leopard (10.5.0=>10.5.6), my iPod Touch is no longer recognized by iTunes 8.0.2. The iPod Touch no longer appears in iTunes' "source list" (left side pane in iTunes' GUI).
Immediately prior to that upgrade, my iPod Touch was working great with Tiger (10.4.x). iTunes 8.0.2 recognized it (listed it in sources) and always synchronized with it successfully.''
My iPod Touch is also not shown in the Finder. However, it does show up as recognized in iPhoto.
Any ideas on how to get the iPod recognized again in iTunes under Leopard?

Thanks to a posting by Jim in a different Apple Discussions (forum), my problem is now resolved. Read on for the details.
iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Jim's posting set me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to Jim's posting, I had already read the article that Jim referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to Jim's posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

  • ITunes not recognizing iPhone 5 iO7 on Windows 7

I have exhausted myself dealing with this problem. My iTunes will not recognize my iPhone 5. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and my computer recognizes the phone when i plug it in, however, my iTunes does not so I am not able to sync any music. I have tried practically everything I have found on the internet to fix this problem and even the people at the Apple store could not help me with my problem. I have uninstalled and installed all Apple related programs, I have insured that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is working correctly but nothing seems to fix the problem. I just don't know what to do anymore because nothing seems to work. I have followed the suggestions contained in the following discussions but nothing seems to work. Thank you for your help.

    Had this problem this morning.
Once in the past had to erase my iphone and reload it.That was unpleasant.
    This morning had the problem,too.
Plugged in my iphone directly into the Imac (not hub) then clicked shut down on the imac.
Pressed the button in the back while the iphone was still plugged in-and when rebooted iphone was visable in itunes.
    Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I'm using a MacBook Air and I just tried this with my laptop - shutting down the computer all the say (not restarting it) and then booting it back up with the phone plugged in. It didn't work but it was worth a shot! Thank you!

I had this exact same problem and just figured out how to fix it. I had to reload the driver on the iphone5 in order for itunes to recognize the device. Follow the steps here to see if you might need to do the same thing. Once I reinstalled the driver, everything works fine and I'm now able to sync with itunes again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have seen a TON of posts like mine where this is the solution. Unfortunately, I am on a Mac not Windows so the driver isn't the problem.
