Itunes not remembering view/sort options

This has probably been asked before, but I'm having trouble finding it (probably not using the right search terms). Anyway, ever since Itunes 10 I've been sorting my albums in a Grid with the option to sort by Album/Year. So my albums for each genre are grouped first by artist, then by year, which is perfect and exactly what I want. However, every time I open Itunes it "forgets" to group by year, and only groups the albums by artist. To correct it, I have to click the "Album by Artist/Year" button at the top of the list every single time I open Itunes, and usually I have to do it for each genre. So annoying. Is there any fix for this? Thanks for any answers.

Because moving a set of preference files sets those preferences to their defaults, the test you'll need to do after moving a set is launching iTunes, changing display preferences, closing iTunes, and then launching iTunes again in order to see if the display preferences have "stuck" this time.
*Things to watch out for*
If this works, some of your preferences will be set back to their defaults, so make a note of any custom preferences you have set up. You may also need to reinstall any third-party add-ons/plug-ins.
Running iTunes after removing the \local\ set of preferences will cause the license agreement to run again.
Running iTunes after removing the \roaming\ set forces the iTunes setup assistant to run again. When prompted to add files to your library, say "no" or your library will be filled with duplicates.

ITunes Not Remembering View Options for iPod

I just upgraded to 7.0.1 to see if it would fix this problem, but no dice. The view options for my 5G 80GB reset back to the factory settings each time I disconnect my iPod, or even if I restart iTunes and leave the iPod connected.
I'd like to have the browser up and have some of the other options changed, like showing track numbers and time. This used to be a setting that always stayed the same with my previous iPod.
I upgraded my iTunes to 7.0 and bought my new iPod at the same time, so I'm not sure which is actually having the problem. Anyone else notice this?

I'm having exactly the same problem with iTunes 7.0.2 and a 80gb iPod. It's really annoying. It should remember the view options, at least iTunes 6 did.

ITunes not remembering "removal prompt" checkbox

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced iTunes not remembering the checkbox "do not ask me again" for when it prompts "Are you sure you want to remove the selected items from your music library?"
No matter if I check "do not ask me again" or not, it continuously asks me again and again. Any suggestions?

Nope! Interesting to see it's a fellow PowerBook 12" user having this problem too, perhaps the problem's more widespread than I imagined.
I haven't made any progress towards solving this issue, but I'm beginning to think it may not be directly iTunes-related. I haven't been paying full attention, but there seem to be one or two other areas where my mac also suffers from checkbox amnesia. The "Check for updates automatically" box in the quicktime system preferences also refuses to stay ticked for example.
Perhaps 10.4.3 is our best hope for a fix...

Why does iTunes grid view not remember default sort settings?

I am using iTunes 8.1 and I like to use the Grid view (Artists). Using the Grid view and clicking on an artist to look at the albums, I like to sort the albums within using "Album by Year".
Once I have made this change, it sticks until I close iTunes, so I can go into any other artist from Grid view and the albums will be listed using "Album by Year" automatically.
When I restart iTunes and click on an artist in grid view, iTunes has reverted to sorting via the first column, the one with track numbers. I then have to manually click "Album by Year" to get it sorted again.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there is a solution to it? This also happened in iTunes before I upgraded to 8.1.

ITunes annoyance - remembering view settings

Well, iTunes 7 continues to bug the **** out of me. I STILL can't get used to how ugly it is!
But that's not the point of this post. What's bugging me right now is that iTunes does not remember how I set the view for my iPod when I plug it in. It always starts at that stupid iPod overview screen and I have to click on "Music" and then switch it to "browse" view. In iTunes 6 I only had to set the view like that once and then it remembered it every subsequent time I connected my iPod.
Anyone know of any settings or preferences anywhere for this?

I've read in other posts a theory that it was just a combination of the 5th generation iPods with iTunes. I am experiencing the same irritating bug that "remember view settings" does nothing to track the settings on my 4th generation iPod, even with the latest update to iTunes (7.02).
Anyone had any luck?

ITunes not remembering preferences

Hey Guys,
last night my computer randomly shut down (still trying to figure that one out but..) and when i went back to itunes (the itunes store specifically) it wasn't showing me the column for ringtones. I went into view and then checked off the box, but then whenever i leave the page im on it automatically goes back to not showing me the ringtones column...this is really annoying me because I am getting an iphone in a few days and want to know what songs I can get ringtones for without having to consently click or unclick the box...help!
P.S. I am using the most current version of iTunes

Having not remembered that I had posted this question and still having the same problem I did a search as up popped my own old question with no replies.
Anybody have any clues?

IOS 5 sync with iTunes not keeping playlist sort

Anyone else have the problem of iTunes playlists not keeping their sort when sync'ed to iOS 5(iPhone 4)?

I'm having the exact same issue with iTunes 10.5, iOS 5 on an iPhone 4S. My regular (not smart) playlist was sorted by "Date Added" newest on top, and in my phone it seemed to be sorted by "Date Added" oldest on top (which is silly because I want to play my new music more often than my old music...)
Anyway, on a whim, I tried sorting my iTunes playlist by "Plays" and synced and it WORKED (properly sorted by "Plays" on my iPhone). Thinking I had fixed the issue, I again sorted by "Date Added" newest on top, and synced, and the iPhone reverted to "Date Added" oldest on top...
Thinking it might be just the "Date Added" column sorting that's F'd, I sorted by "Name," and synced and it WORKED (properly sorted by "Name" on my iPhone).
Not wanting to test each column, I decided to leave it sorted by "Plays," least on top, which is similar to "Date Added" newest on top, but not exactly. It'll have to do until Apple fixes this issue.
Conclusion: At least the "Date Added" column sorting in iTunes is completely disregarded on the iPhone, choose another sort column for now

ITunes 11 [Songs view] - Sort on artist, then year

I just downloaded iTunes 11 and there seem to be some features missing compared to iTunes 10. One of the most important issues is that in the "Songs" view, I cannot seem to sort on (1) Artist and (2) Album year. It seems that iTunes is automatically sorting as (1) Artist, (2) Album name alphabetically. For example, for Norah Jones, first the album Little Broken Hearts (2012) is displayed, and after that the album Not Too Late (2007). Does anyone know if this can still be done in iTunes 11 or is the feature missing completely? Interestingly enough, in the "Albums" view, there is an option to sort by Artist, then Year (view --> view options).
Another issue, which I believe has been adressed in other topics as well, is the complete missing of albumart in the "Songs" view. Consequently, this was also the place in iTunes 10 where you could choose to sort on Arist/Year. I really hope that Apple puts this feature back in iTunes 11 as soon as possible.

Yep, I'm seeing the same thing. Just downloaded iTunes 11 and now I can't sort albums by year in the "Artists" view. I used to prefix all my album mp3 tag names with the year number to work around this, but removed it when Apple added the Artist/Year sort. Now it's gone. Yay!
A note: you can use the free mp3tag.de software to insert your year tag into your album titles using regular expressions. If there doesn't seem to be any obvious solution to sorting by Artist/Album/Year in the next couple days, then I'll post here with some tips if anyone is interested.

Why does iTunes not give me the option to backup my iPhone?

I have three iPhones in my family. On two of the iPhones, I am able to plug them into my computer and do a local backup (by selecting it in iTunes, right clicking and choosing "Back Up"). There is one phone, however, that does not allow me to choose this option. It takes me directly to the "Welcome to your new iPhone" page in iTunes, and asks me to restore it from a backup. I, however, do not have a backup on this computer, so I clearly do not want to wipe the phone and restore a backup.
How do I remedie this? Is there another tool that will allow me to create a backup?

"Recents" for calls on iOS 6 not remembering view

After upgrading to iOS 6, I've noticed that the "Recents" calls view will change from "Missed" to "All" by itself. I always leave it on the ”Missed" view, I noticed this in iOS 6 beta 1 and hoped it would get fixed before release...
Has anyone else noticed this?

I was able to finally get the push notifications work. The steps are below. Mind you I attempted a few things in the previous days prior to these steps. So those few things might help if you are still having problem after applying the fix below. Those few things were: deleting and reinstalling twitter app, restoring the iOS device, revoke and undo revoke all my ios apps in my account settings on twitter's website.
Important: If you have multiple ios devices, make sure you apply these steps to all devices at the same time.
1 Open twitter app
2 go to the profile of each of the people you are following. Click the person icon and select turn off notifications.
3 Go to Me / settings / notifications. Turn off all notifications.
4 Go to your iOS device settings / notifications / twitter. Turn off all notification options.
5 Turn off all your iOS devices. Wait for a few minutes.
6 Turn on the devices. Go to twitter app / me / settings / notifications. Check if all the notifications on all devices are still set to Off. If any option is not showing as Off, set it to Off. Repeat step 5 for all devices. Repeat again if necessary.
7 if all notifications are set to off when you turn the devices back on, you can now turn on your twitter notifications for all devices as usual. Don't forget to visit the notification center.

Itunes not remembering my password

Ever since the iOS5 upgrade, whenever my iPad is connected to WiFi or my iPhone, iTunes launches (I assume to synch) but it fails because I have to put in my password everytime. Isn't there an option to choose to remember my password so when I turn on my ipad connected to wifi it will auto-sych?

When I sync my iPod with iTunes, the place where I was at in the playback of podcasts isn't remembered (i.e. they just go back to the beginning).

Itunes not giving an arrow option

When I purchase items on itunes using ipad I don't get the arrow option next to each purchase for gifting, share on twitter, share on facebook etc.

Where is the music file? That option only appears if the file is your currently designated iTunes Media folder.

Samsung Gusto does not remember the messaging option...

I text normally using T9 Word option but each time when I choose 'New Message' it is going to 'ABC' mode. Is there a way my Samsung Gusto can be made to remember the 'T9 Word' option?

Go into Messaging >>> Settings >>> Entry mode, and make sure you select T9Word, and save the settings.
