Itunes not responding after upgrade to 11.1.5.5

iTunes was working fine. I was prompted to upgrade to v11.1.5.5. Since then the application starts, and immediately becomes non-responsive. I have restarted my system (Win7 64 bit) multiple times, and no change.

  • Is anyone having trouble with the "home" button not responding after upgrading to 5.1.1 OS?

Is anyone having problems with the "home" button not responding after upgrading to 5.1.1?

You will not belive how I accidently solved this - !!!
Yes I had the problem immediately after the 5.1.1 'cloud' upgrade, the problems started (on my iphone 4) ... I followed the 'get power down button, then hold HOME for 30 secs' solution, but no result, nothing seemed to work and I was starting to get a bit agressive with the keep it pushed, multiple double click frustrations, icopybot multigesture solutions etc. and paid money ... but this comedy solution now works ...
I discovered it because I ordered a waterproof case for my iphone for my motorcycle ... I've just fitted it to my iphone and all the problems have gone ??? what! ... so wondering why I looked at what the home button on the casing was doing - it was pressing ACROSS the home button i.e. it converted my finger point into a wider 'PRESS
so taking the new case off, instead of using the point of my thumb to press HOME, I used the flat of my thumb to emulate it ....and initially nothing, so I wondered if it wa making better 'cross button' contacts, so I licked my thumb, wiped it and then tried again! - it worked!
I can't explain it but it seems to work - try it! if the double click on HOME doesn't work lick your thumb dry it and try again! I've just done it again
what a mad techno world we live in! :-)

  • FORM NOT RESPONDING AFTER UPGRADING TO ORACLE 10GR2 DATABASE

    Hi All
We are upgrading from Oracle 9i (single AIX Server) to Oracle 10gR2 on HACMP of 2 AIX 5.3 Server.
Our application is in Forms 9.0.4 deployed into iAS 10.1.2.0.2.
There is a custom Login Form that checks for UserID and Password and validate
    to Authentication Table.
This form works fine in Oracle 9i but doesn't work in Oracle 10g (After
    Upgrading).
On the Login Form, this happen :
After user enter UserID the forms query the DB and display UserName succesfully,
but after enter Password and press OK, it does not responding,
    takes forever to complete..
    Additional information :
    Before :          After :
    Oracle 9i          Oracle 10gR2
SIngle AIX Server     Two AIX Server in HACMP
    Charset : AL16UTF16     WE8ISO....
Given the information above, What could possibly cause this problem ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto.

    xtanto,
not sure what causes the problem, but my suggestion is to check the password query.
To give you another hint: Your way of authenticating users is not hack safe. As you describe that providing a user ID will show the name first before I have to provide the password, it allows me to fish for valid user accounts. The recommended way of using login screens is to have the user enetring userid and password in teh same screen and use both information to authenticate the user in a single query.

  • Iphoto not responding after upgrade to Tiger

I've just upgraded to Tiger. When I try to open iphoto, nothing happens. I get the iphoto screen, with an indication at the bottom that there are 3100 pictures within the program. But the little working wheel just keeps spinning. When I open the program holding the Option key I get a "library not found" message. In answer to the query, I instruct the program to find the library and it locates the "iphoto library" in user/pictures/. But when I click to "open" that library I again get the eternally spinning working wheel and the "force quit applications" screen tells me that Iphoto is not responding. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Discussions. Other Mac users are here to help.
There are procedures you should follow before and after an install. I will also list some other things to do if that doesn't work.
Please do not try to do anything to the database itself - the iPhoto Library Folder in your Pictures Folder.
Most likely because of updates or installs you need to:
    1. Restart your computer to repair the directory if needed.
    2. Run "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utility located in your Applications>Utilties Folder.
    3. Try iPhoto again. If it doesn't work then QUIT iPhoto.
    4. Your iPhoto preferences file may be corrupted.
(MAKE SURE you QUIT iPhoto first)
You will find it in your Home directory:
    (Home/your account) >Library>Preferences>com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Remove or trash the preference (.plist file) and restart iPhoto.
iPhoto will open like it was the first time
If it still doesn't work go on to these remedies, in order.
    5. Bad Album data?
    Old Toad says:
1 - move the Albums folder and the AlbumData.xml file from the iPhoto library folder in your Pictures folder to the desktop.
2 - launch iPhoto. It if launches successfully you probably have a corrupt album.
To locate the bad "apple", pun intended, do the following:
1 - move one of the individual album folders and it's associated data file into the new Albums folder that was created in the iPhoto Library folder.
2 - launch iPhoto. If it's successful do the same with the next album folder and data file. If iPhoto doesn't launch successfully, that's a bad one and remove it and the data file.
3 - repeat for each individual album folder in the old Albums folder.
    6. Rebuild Library
    QUIT IPHOTO FIRST
Relaunch while holding down the key combination below for your version
    Option+Shift IPHOTO 2
    CommandOptionShift IPHOTO 4
    Command+Option IPHOTO 5

  • Finder not responding, after upgrade to 10.6.4

Ever since i upgraded os x to 10.6.4, the finder has been not responding whatsoever.
My hard drive still has more than 100GB (out of total 250GB). and i have used Terminal to delete files in trash and nothing left in my desktop.
When i connect my Time Machine external backup drive, i cannot open Time Machine neither.
The even more serious problem is that I couldn't even save my files to another location or open files (e.g. using Pages - Files - Open...) from other locations.
I tried to verify and repair the disk using Disk Utility; it doesn't work neither. it says it cannot repair the disk.
I also tried to boot by Mac OS Installation Disk and then use the Disk Utility; nothing helps.
I hope my description has been enough for you to analyse what could have happened and give possible solutions.
    Many thanks!

I tried to verify and repair the disk using Disk Utility; it doesn't work neither. it says it cannot repair the disk.
Well there's your problem! If you have unfixable disk damage on your boot drive, it's going to cause file corruption which can in turn cause many widely varying problems.
First thing you need to do is make sure you've got a good backup. If you don't have any backups, it could be too late... with disk damage, any of your files could be corrupt at this point. But do what you can. See my [Mac Backup Guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/backups> for help with that.
Second, you can try to repair the drive using a different tool, such as [DiskWarrior|http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html] or [TechTool Pro|http://www.micromat.com>. However, IMHO this is unlikely to help if you're already experiencing symptoms of file corruption, which you are. But it's something to try. (I don't actually own either of those utilities, because I always make the assumption that if my hard drive is badly damaged, so might my system files be, so on the rare occasion this happens I just go straight to the step below.)
If nothing else works, you'll need to erase your hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch, then restore your data from backups. You'll want to restore as little as possible from the backup when it comes to settings files, as those could be damaged and could bring instability back into your squeaky clean new system.

  • ITunes "not responding" after trying to sync anything to my iPod Photo

I have tried not using my dock, switching between USB and firewire, and verified that iTunes is not sucking up strange amounts of CPU time or memory. It just becomes non-responsive and the only solution is to force quit the application. iTunes functions "normally" if I put syncing to manual and DON'T TRY TO SYNC. As soon as I do it goes unresponsive again. I already wiped out my iPod thinking the problem was with my iPod and now my iPod is empty with no way for me to download my library back onto it. This problem occurred the first time I tried to use iTunes at all after 7.0.2.

I was having problems with synching when iTunes would check for new episodes for my podcast subscriptions (which I had set to check every hour) immediately after I downloaded version 7.0.2. I tried everything, even going back to version 7.0.1 but to no avail. Each time I'd open iTunes I'd have to quickly go to the preferences and change it to "manual" before it would start checking for updates on the podcasts. If I didn't get there fast enough, I'd force quit and open it again. I finally saved all my podcasts from my iTunes Music Library in a folder on my desktop then went back and deleted them all and resubscribed. I reset the preferences to "check every hour" and it solved the problem. So, I'm assuming that there was some problem with one or more of the podcasts and deleting and resubscribing reset whatever it was which fixed the problem. Not sure if this will work for you but hope it does.

  • IPhone 3G not responding after upgrading firmware

I've been given an old iPhone 3G 16GB but as it hasn't been used for a while, the firmware on it was 2.8.?? something. I have the latest version of iTunes so I connected it to upgrade so I could download apps as nearly all of them needed iOS 3+. It was working fine before but since I have downloaded the latest software version that iTunes put on it two days ago (4.3.2 I think) and since then, the whole phone is running really slow and if not connected to a power supply it dies after about 3-5 minutes. It doesn't even charge when connected to a PC.
I've tried to do a system restore and it doesn't work as it's still the same. I've followed all the tips on the Apple site and nothing works. The only thing that was suggested was to downgrade the firmware but when I try to do that, I get an error 3194 on iTunes. I've even tried changing the hosts file in Windows but that didn't work and the error is still there.
As it stands, I have a phone with the latest firmware but I can't use it! Can someone please shed some light on this?
    Thanks

Thanks for the response, I must have got the firware version wrong.
I don't think it's battery failure as it was working fine for at least a week before I updated it and now all of a sudden after I've updated it, it's gone rubbish. If I charge it from the plug, it's fine but I've noticed as soon as it goes into sleep mode and locks itself (or if I lock it) then it actually turns itself off.
This may be a silly question but if it is a hardware failure, how do I go about fixing it if I wasn't the original owner and it has no warranty on it?

  • Printer not responding after upgrade -- thought I had this fixed

Sorry to bring this up again, but I thought I had this solved. Maybe I omitted some important info, so here goes --
The other day I upgraded to OS 10.4 from 10.3.9 on my iBook G4. This laptop has four user accounts. My printer is an Epson 740 that is connected by USB to an Airport Extreme base station.
After the upgrade, the printer wasn't responding. I followed the very helpful advice I got here (except for downloading most recent printer drivers, of which there are none past OS9). Everything seemed OK.
Today, none of the accounts will print unless I delete the printer, reset, reauthenticate, and add the printer back. This has to be done after each account change. I also ran the repair permission option in Disk Utility (on the HD, I presume). Every attempt to print is met with the appearance of the printer icon in the Dock with a big fat red exclamation point.
How can I reset the printer once and for all and not have to reconfigure it before and during every print job on each account? Please let me know if more info is needed. Thanks.
iBook   Mac OS X (10.4)   iMac Mac OS 9.1

Sorry for the delay in replying, but this is my home computer and at work I have Windows. Anyway, while waiting to get back to you I cruised around here and found this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301631
Apparently, there is a problem with Tiger and Epson 740's (probably other older printers too). Well, I tried the above and it worked.
Thanks again for your help. Good to know that it's available all the way from down under. AB

  • ITunes not opening after upgrade to 7.1.1

    Hello everybody.
I have just joined this forum hoping to find a solution to this problem:
After installing 7.1.1 iTunes does not open.
    Following message appears
<The iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available.>
I have checked that all other software is closed. So I am sure that I have much of my 768Mb RAM free .
Before downloading 7.1.1 everything was o.k.
    HELPme please .. .. ..
    Thanks. Nicholas

I also have the same problem with iTunes since I upgraded to Leopard. When I try to activate iTunes, the icon indicates that iTunes is running, but the program does not open. When I try to force it to shut down, nothing happens, except an error report, while the the icon still indicates that it is running. Even trying to uninstall iTunes while it stops running is not possible.
I already deleted all plugins that may cause the problems, I do not have Shapeshifter and I also renewed permissions, but still no difference.
    Any help?

  • Itunes not working after upgrading to 7.4

I just recently purchased the new ipod nano. In order to use it, you have to upgrade to itunes 7.4. I did this, but now when I click on my itunes icon, nothing happens. It thinks for a moment, but it will not open. I have tried to unistall and reinstall, but it will still not work. It appears as if the download was successful and my music library is still there, but it will not launch. Any suggestions?

Yeah, that's happened to me a bunch, it's a pain the the arse. Delete your shortcut and create a new one.
To do this navigate to the c:\program files\iTunes folder (assuming you've selected the default location) and find the iTunes.exe file using the right mouse button right click on it and you should get a menu with an option to create a shortcut. Once the shortcut is created you can drag it and drop it wherever you need, start menu, desktop or quick launch bar.

  • My ipad 2 does not respond after upgrade to ios 8

I tried to upgrade my Ipad 2 to ios 8, which has been said to be copatible. During the upgrade process the Apple logo apeared on the black screen and has stayed there everysince. The ipad does not react on a hard reset and is not identified on connecting to a computer, Apple or PC. Screen stays on untill the battery has been emptied. Apple Store in Munich could not help me and told me guarantee has run out, there is nothing they can do, than to offer me a new Ipad 2 for 200 €. I can not understand, that an upgrade can "destroy" my property.

I had a problem connecting to my exchange server.  It turns out that Exchange will only allow ten devices to be partnered to your account at a time.  Apparently I have a problem with new phone.(Attending the 12 step program now for treatment.) I had this message in my inbox when I logged in to check the server. "You have 10 phone partnerships out of the maximum allowed 10 partnerships. After you reach the maximum, you can't create additional partnerships until you delete existing ones from your account. To do so, sign in to Outlook Web App, click Options > Phone > Mobile Phones, and delete any unused partnerships."  I followed the instructions and delted all the old accounts...problem solved.
