What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
How to reset iPod
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Locating "Notes" folder in 5th Gen iPod

I originally synced my 5th Gen iPod on a Windows machine. Now I'm on a Mac OS X 10.5.5. I have the latest version of iTunes.
When I plug my iPod into the computer it shows up as a device in iTunes. However, when I hit the arrow to look at the programs within in the iPod, I see "Photos" "Music" "Playlists" "Movies" etc. But I no longer see "Notes." It sort of vanished. I have my iTunes enabled for disk use.
    Any help appreciated.

In response to the original poster, the Notes folder is on the Pod and you add notes by saving them as plain text and dragging them to the Notes folder directly on the iPod on the desktop, not thru iTunes.
If the iPod is not showing up on the desktop,s elect the iPod in iTunes then tick *Enable disk use*.

  • WiFi not working properly (5th gen iPod Touch)

    I have a 64 GB iPod Touch 5th gen (iOS 6.1.3 - NOT Jailbroken)
Ever since I got the device the wifi is working 100% fine. Until a few days ago it barely works. It says it's connected (wifi arches visible) but webpages and internet dependent apps are saying there is "no internet connection" or "network error." I turned off wifi and when i try to reconnect it displayed "Unable to join the network <name of our home wifi>." I reset the router, reset the iPod's network settings, and removed the case with no avail. The iPod's wifi can only work within 2 meters from our router, which is not normal.
Note: there is nothing wrong with our wifi router or our home build. All of our various devices (laptops, iPad, my dad's GS3 mini, and even my 4 year old phone) can connect without any problems wherever they are in the house.

So this not being your router's problem let's conclude that iPod is the culprit! You were saying that it worked properly until recently so it might be a iOS related problem. Try restoring the firmware using iTunes! But before, backup everything and proceed through it! After restoring, iTunes will ask about restoring the data or setting it up as a new one - DON'T RESTORE. Let the backup be there, try setting it up as new. Then verify the wifi connectivity, if all goes right then you can restore from backup! If all else fails, your device may require an authorised personnel attention asap! Cheers!

  • ITunes not seeing iPhoto Albums in iPod interface

All other iLife apps see the iPhoto albums but not iTunes. The Albums are not listed - just a blank window. When I try to sync all the photos from iPhoto to the iPod I am getting the -50 error.
I have done the 5R's to the iPod.
    Any ideas?
    TIA
    MJ

I followed your last instructions but I still get the error-50.
I think I have narrowed it down to an iPhoto problem.
I created a new iPhoto album and then created some smart+regular albums and iTunes could see them and sync them to the iPod. I then added about 1500 photos, at some point iTunes refused to see the albums again.
I will keep at it until ...... if all else fails I will just take the photos that I want on the iPod and export them to an folder and added them to the iPod that way.
    Thanks for your input.

  • ITunes not recognizing my 2nd Gen iPod Nano.

"An iPod has been detected, but can not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."
This is the message my MacBook keeps giving me when I plug in my iPod Nano. All was fine until I downloaded 7.5 (then 7.6)
I've used different USB cords, I've reset my iPod Nano, I've switched it to Disk Mode to try to restore it that way...nothing works. And I know it's not my iPod because I deleted 7.5 and reinstalled 7.0 and it worked just fine. Unfortunately I need 7.6 in order to sync my new purchases with my iPod.
Anyway, anyone else having these issues with the new iTunes updates?????? Any solutions? Or does Mac just expect me to buy new iPods every 6 months....????? (very annoyed with mac right now as my other 30GB iPod Classic just starting flashing the sad ipod icon...i've had it 1 1/2 years....so very obnoxious.)
    Thanks for your time!

I'm glad (selfishly glad, I guess) that someone else is going through this too. Just upgraded to new iTunes and now my little 2GB nano isn't even recognized. Tried everything you did as well. No worky.
I will be anxious to see what someone comes up with...

  • Previously working games will now not synch to 5th Gen iPod

I purchased 3 games last year for my 5G 80gb video iPod and they had been working just fine. Recently, after syncing some music, the games no longer appear on my ipod. They are still in the library but when I try and sync, it says they are not compatible with this iPod. But I know they are!
Please help - it's driving me mad. I have checked that I have the latest version of iTunes and software for the iPod.
    Thanks
    FizzyBee

Aha. I think I just answered my own question. I copied the games from my hard drive back into itunes library. Then although I couldn't drag it to the iPod, I could sync via the games tab. How daft is that? Now I have 2 versions of each game but daren't delete anything!!

  • 5th gen. ipod not recognized by Mac

My 5th generation 30 gb ipod is no longer recognized by my Mac running 10.3.9 and iTunes 7. I've tried all of the standard troubleshooting except for restore since it can't be recognized to be restored. When it's plugged into the computer, it's charging with an animated icon but the ipod never shows up on the desktop or in iTunes. Help!
    5th gen ipod   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
    Also See:
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod
iPod does not appear in iTunes or on the desktop
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes

    Hey jtom234412,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your device is not detected in iTunes for Windows. The following resource may help resolve this issue:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Furthermore, if your device is in recovery mode (displaying an iTunes symbol, with a plug), see the relevant information under Step 5.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • 5th Gen iPod, seen by Windoze, not by iTunes

I've been too busy lately to hang out keep up with the iTunes 7 issues, but I still have to stop the iPod service, attach my iPod, start iTunes/start the service every time I want to sync. Is there any hope that this is a temporary condition or is this just how it's gonna be from now on? iTunes 7, 5th Gen iPod w/1.2 software, XP Pro SP2.
    TIA for your comments/help.

Wow, 10 days and not a single reply. Guess I'm not the only one too dumb to figure out what's wrong with iTunes.

  • 5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1

On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
    Some salient facts:
         1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
         2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
         3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I did try all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions.  It was the cable - Thanks for the tip!
It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates.

  • I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • ITunes 7.3.2 (OSX) and 5th Gen iPod not synching

I have had my 5th gen iPod (30GB) for about 2 years now and originally had used it with Windows, then I switched over to a Mac in Feb and have been pretty happy. Normally i synch my iPod daily to get my playlists updated (so I don't listen to the same thing all the time) and so I can get new Podcasts that were downloaded. Before I left for work this morning, I was able to synch my iPod with no problem, when I was about to synch it before I went to bed, it will not synch. When I try to put in the iPod, iTunes then crashes. I try to put in the iPod and let iTunes open automatically, it loads then crashes again. I have rebooted both the Mac and did a reset on my iPod, but can't even perform a restore since before iTunes would pop up the iPod section, it crashes first. it IS mac formatted. i don't know what is going on and what chnged from this morning to this evening and why suddenly it doesn't work.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I deleted both iTunes and Quicktime7, emptied the trash, restarted, then reinstalled QT then iTunes. Still getting the same issue. Still "crashing" when the iPod is connected.
This is some of the information from the bug report that I thought might be helpful to figure out what went wrong (didn't want to include ALL the crash report, so I just included the info before the "thread crashed" details and the system info at the bottom):

  • ITunes crashes when connected to 5th gen iPod, not other iPods

iTunes 6.0.1 crashes EVERY time it starts up with the new 5th gen iPod. Works fine with other iPods, or no iPod at all. Reinstalled iTunes and restored to version 1.0 iPod form the 11-17-2005 iPod updater. Reset nvram, fixed disk permissions, rebooted. Nothing works. iTunes will not run with the 5th gen iPod. Period.

  • 5th gen ipod is connected and seen on itunes yet will not sync

My 5th gen ipod-nano is connected - visual and accessible on new version of itunes (using PC, running Win 7) yet will not sync. This only started happening after the last update from apple and I have spent HOURS trying to figure out how to fix including removing all apple apps and software and reinstalling 6 times now!!! Even when a diagnoses is run it shows my ipod is connected yet when I try to sync.. it tells me that disk is not found?

Well, nothing has worked yet.  Same Itunes account.  When I try to download from the App Store app on the touch, I downloads all the way to the end of the loading... installing phases. then says, "Unable to Downlad Application: app will be available for download when you log in to the Itunes Store on your computer."
But Itunes on the computer will do the same thing... load it all the way up, then give an error code of OxE8003FFE.
I tried restoring the Ipod, so now it only has the factory apps, music, videos, and no apps.  And I can't add even one app.
