Itunes Not Seeing My Ipod but Is Seen By My Computer

First of all i have spent a good few hours looking at other peoples threads and i can see this seems to be a very common problem. I have a 30gig Video 5G ipod and it was originally installed on my laptop. The problem i have is i dont have much space on that laptop so i decided to move my ipod onto my pc. I have copied over all my itunes folder and its now installed and working on my pc.
The problem is my ipod is not seen by itunes and therefore i cant do anything with it. I have tested it again on the laptop to determine its deffo a computer problem and it worked fine on there. Both Pc and Laptop are using the latest versions of itunes,
I have tried the various methods that have been explained and still no joy. I have even restored my pc back to the orig installation date with no joy.
I am hoping there is a solution as i dont want to have to re-install windows but its not looking like i have much choice.
I bought this ipod of a colleague and he has had the ipod installed on more than one pc. Is it possible that the ipod has reached its limit of pc's it can be assigned too.
I await your repsonse and thanks in advance
Andy

There is an Apple article on trouble shooting this problem, have you tried it?

  • HT201413 Why does iTunes not see my iPod when connected?

My computer does not see my ipod when I connect it to it.  Nor does it come up in iTunes.  How can I sync my music with this problem going on?

Try one or more of the following:
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
    > Reset iDevice Settings (will not delete everything)
    > Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista & 7) and see if your iDevice shows (should show as a digital camera)
    > Restore iDevice completely (will delete everything)
    > Make sure both iTunes and iOS firmware is Up-To-Date

  • Itunes not seeing my ipod

when i hook up my ipod it charges but it will not show up on my itunes..i have reset it and still nothing...PLZ HELP

Hello yes this happens me, on and off, just out of the blue. Only bought this a week ago and I don't believe I should have to keep resetting it so often. It just seems to freeze and I can't see it to eject it properly....what's this about???

  • Why is itunes not seeing my iPod?

I have followed the troubleshooting support page for starting and stopping services, deleting temp directories, cleaning the registry and etc. Followed each one, one at a time, and still here's what I have going on. My iPod is seen by Windows 7 (64bit) and it appears in my computer as an iPod. The first thing the iPod does is once it's connected to windows; windows says the device must be formatted in order to be used. I hit no, because the restore will do this anyway. I open itunes, and no device is listed. I tried (just to see if it would help) to go ahead and hit yes on the reformatting, and once I get to the disk formatting screen, I hit format disk, and it says "this device could not be formatted."
I have used this iPod for a while, and a few months ago, I synced up... went to the gym, and my playlist and music was gone. Haven't got it working since.
    Any ideas?

Update: left it on the usb port all night, itunes finally saw it. I did the restore, and when it restarts, itunes says the ipod is corrupted. Tells me to run the restore again and again. Any ideas on this one?

I cannot sync my running data from iPhone 4S with Nikeplus.com. I use Nike+iPod application (I think it is part of iOS)
    iPhone is running iOS 6.0.1
When I connect my iPhone to Mac, in iTunes 11 I do not see Nike+iPod tab or button or anything.. While all Help and supports documents tell me I should sse it.
    What did do wrong?

If it's a digital copy (as opposed to an iTunes purchase) then I think that you only get one download of it (iTunes film purchases can be re-downloaded in some countries) - in which case, if you've downloaded it to your computer, then if you want a copy of it on the iPad as well, then you will need to sync it to the iPad by connecting it to your computer's iTunes i.e. you can't just download it again. If you just want to play it on the iPad then you can stream it to it via home sharing (so your computer and iPad will need to be connected to the same network), but that won't put a copy of it on the iPad.

  • My iPod is showing a white screen. I could not see anything. But I can listen to songs by blindly pressing the play button twice. The battery comes only for an hour.? How do I get the display and longer battery?

    Hello Friends,
I've two iPod Nanos (4th gen - 8GB). I'm facing a severe problem with both of them. For both iPods, I tried to do this method Simultaneously press the top button + home (central) button. But of no use.
    1. My first iPod is showing a white screen. I could not see anything. But I can listen to songs by blindly pressing the play button twice. The battery comes only for an hour.? How do I get the display and longer battery?
    2. My second iPod is facing more severe problem. None of the buttons are working. When I connect it my PC it showing "CONNECTED- eject before disconnecting". But it is not ejecting with all the usual methods. When I manually and physically disconnect it from the PC the same "CONNECTED- eject before disconnecting" is still showing till the battery goes off. After that if i press any button it is showing low battery signal. And when i re-connect it to the PC the same process is repeating. When I tied to restore it to the factory settings I'm getting "Error" report.
    (I'm using windows 7)
Friends, Please help me with the above problems. It will be a great help.
    Thank You.

Sounds like some hardware issues, meaning you'll want to take or send the iPods in for service or repairs. You can choose to have Apple do an out of warranty exchange for the prices indicated in the link below or find another third party service perhaps even local to your area.

  • Rented a movie on my mac - trying to watch on apple tv (i think 2), but iTunes not "seeing" apple tv - so i can't 'move' the rental to the device.  ??

rented a movie on my mac - trying to watch on apple tv (i think 2), but iTunes not "seeing" apple tv - so i can't 'move' the rental to the device.  i'm brand new at apple tv - do i need to enable it or something?

Is it the little black box? If yes then it is the 2nd model. It won't show up in iTunes as there is no syncing involved. The only time it does is when you connect and need to restore the device.
You need to enable home sharing in iTunes and on ATV

  • ITunes Not Recognizing/Reading iPod

    Hello!
I've recently had trouble with iTunes not recognizing/reading my iPod. I've plugged it in, but iTunes fails to recognize that it's been plugged in. It does charge, but that's it. I've been trying to sync my iPod, but I'm now unable to. This problem only began a few weeks ago, rather suddenly, and has not yet worked since then. I'm hoping I don't have reinstall iTunes, as I've purchased some new songs and those are what I'm trying to copy over, and I don't wish to lose those.
I'm currently running Windows Vista, and I'm not sure which versions of iTunes I'm using. I know I was using 7 at some point, but I don't remember if I've updated beyond that. I'm also using a 2nd Generation iPod Nano.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening and/or what I can do to fix it will be eagerly waited for!
    Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no one ‘Silver Bullet’ answer for this issue. Many things can contribute to the problem. Here are various ‘generic’ solutions that you can try in an effort to correct your problem. One should work. These are listed in simplest to more involved order (usually). Read through them all, and see if one specifically matches your observed issue(s).
First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. However, it may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.
Your iPod may be conflicting with other USB peripherals or network drives. If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
-- Open iTunes &/or Connect the iPod
If you do find that your Device Manager is blank, you should probably check up on this issue first: No Items Appear in the Device Manager List When You Open It
If that doesn't work, Put Your iPod into Disk Mode then plug it in and you should be able to Restore the iPod
Your PC may have difficulty with the USB2 protocol and the iPod. See this Article for a possible solution: iPod not Recognized Correctly
Also try these hints (and the other suggestions above) from any other USB port you may have on the PC. Sometimes switching USB ports can make all the difference.
Try using another PC if you have access to one. Even a Mac may help. Try Restoring it on the other computer and moving it back to yours.

  • Car does not see my ipod anymore

Just got a new BMW, 2 weeks, my 80GB ipod was working perfectly. I downloaded some music and upgraded the latest Itunes software, now my car won't/can't see my ipod. I heard someone else say the same thing. I've Rebooted ipod. Whipped it clean and reloaded everything. still can't get it to work. I will not load the songs to the car. Took someone else's ipod, it works, the car can see that ipod but not mine. I asked the ownere of the ipod if he upgraded his software and he said NO. So is there something in the new updated software that prevents the car from seeing the ipod. It just won't load any of my music.

    Don't bother answering this...it's working now!!!Sorry
