ITUnes not syncing video form iPhoto

Hi,
Since iTunes 10.1 has been installed on my iMac (with IOS 4.2.1) videos from iPhoto do not sync anymore, despite the setting in iTunes 'include video' being selected.
Anybody else experiences the same?
Thanks!
JP.

You may have figured it out by now. None of the resetting of the iPod or the rebuilding of the iPhoto library (command+option) or permission rebuilding works to solve a -208 error when the error refers to an iPhoto library sync with iTunes. Supposedly, this error occurs with corrupt AIFF files as well. This error will occur on different iPods which try to sync to the same iPhoto library. The iPhoto library is definitely corrupted. Mine was due to a sudden power loss.
NOTE: I do not "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library" under Advanced iPhoto preferences, so that my photos don't have a chance of getting messed up (like error -208s). If you do, the steps below may be different for you. Always a good idea to back up your photos.
Here is how I fixed it. All the steps may not be necessary. Go to /pictures directory under your user (or wherever your iPhoto library is located), and rename the "iPhoto Library" or whatever you called it to something else, like "iPhoto Library 2". Open iPhoto, and it can't find the library, and asks if you want to find it or create a new one. Tell it to create a new one, and put at least a picture in the library. Sync with iPod, which should work without error and put the picture on your iPod. Close iTunes. Close iPhoto. Now, to save all your pictures (thumbnails) already in the iPhoto library, copy everything BUT "iPod Photo Cache" folder, which seems to be the culprit, from the "iPhoto Library 2" folder into the "iPhoto Library" folder. Open iPhoto, and all your pictures should now be in the library. Open iTunes and sync iPod, and all your pictures should sync out without error.

  • ITunes not syncing photos from iPhoto

"Unkown error" messages are becoming usual for iPod users that we are ignoring them because our iPods are syncing fine anyway. Except for error message -208, the new kid on the block! This error message only pops when trying to sync photos from iPhoto (6.0.5 the latest! Syncing photos from any other folder or not syncing photos at all, does not cause any problem. The syncing never has given me this problem (and I have been syncing iPods with pics for a long time!)
How does Apple answer to this problem? Don't blame the iTunes software, because this is definitively a joint problem you guys have with your software not talking to one another.
I have rebuilt everything that can be rebuilt in iPhoto (thumbnails, library), I have downloaded and installed all the latest updates. Reset and restored the iPod... done! Reinstall iTunes, check!
I have posted messages at the iTunes/iPod forum and... no response! Hope the Apple staff is more friendly here... or at least one of the seasoned users...

  • Itunes not syncing Videos/Movies

Itunes will not sync my movies, rentals, nor videos i have bought from itunes.
This is my 3rd ipod classic given to me by the apple store to "fix" the problem that has yet to be "fixed". It will sync the very first time i plug it in as in, just straight out of the package. but never again will it sync. i have tried loading it maunally but that doesnt work either. and since all the people do at the store is hand me a new one i have no other options.

I had that same problem when I tried adding the "Blue Harvest" digital copy to my itunes (family guy movie). If you have an ipod "nano," which one is it? Be sure that the iPod you are using is video capable and has enough memory to take on a movie or video. A 40~45 minute TV show eats up about 450~500mb.
I have the new square looking 3rd generation iPod, so I'll try help. What you do is make sure the cord is NOT connected to your computer yet, plug it into your ipod, then plug the other end into the USB port. It should automatically sync up. After the syncing is complete, select your ipod in the column on the left hand side of the screen. It should look like a little ipod in the column of music lists and other stuff.
Once that is selected, you should see something that has the amount of space that's on your ipod and other interesting information showing on the main menu on your itunes. If you look at the top of that, there should be a row of tabs. Click the one that says Movies/Videos (one or the other, not sure right now, but it should be obvious which tab to click).
Once that is selected, there will be two options. One will already be set, click the other one and set it up so that it syncs up your selected movies, videos, tv shows, etc...
Right after that, don't go anywhere, click on APPLY at the bottom of the screen. It should start syncing up again and that will add the movies/videos to your ipod. It may take a little while to load up, but no more than a few minutes.
    Hope this helps, J.

Can't be done with iTunes.  You can do it with the app PhotoSync.  It will transfer videos back to camera roll.

  • ITunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists

I have some smaller iPods that I use on random occasions. When I sync them, I choose the following options:
    Sync Music:
    Selected Playlists, artists, genres
    Music Videos - Not Checked
Automatically fill free space with songs - Checked
I have two playlists from which I wish a selection to be made, which exceeds the size of the iPod (they were designed for larger devices synced with this machine). When I attempt to Sync, I get a message saying that the iPod is too small, and would I like iTunes to automatically choose songs to sync. If I click no, the sync is canceled. If I click yes to have a subset of my two playlists automatically choosen, the ipod will sync, but then iTunes clears all of my selected playlists and starts syncing songs from all playlists.
This seems like a bug in iTunes to me, as it is not performing the requested options. Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to get it fixed? Or to get a bug report sent in to Apple? I have been going all over the place on their support page, and since this isn't an issue with the iPod, but with iTunes, I haven't been able to find a support avenue.

Suggestions here -> iTunes application feedback
iTunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists
You have it selected to *sync selected playlists* and those playlists are not syncing to the iPod?
however this seems to be very counter-intuitive behavior for iTunes
It can be kind of confusing.
I suggest it's not a bug in that it is acting as it's supposed to.
The option (Fill free space) could be made clearer. Perhaps if they added "with songs at random from the entire library" or somehow added an option to select what the free space will be filled with.)
    1) The fact that iTunes it is not obeying the selected options on the screen
    Not supposed to do that.
If the playlists all fit and there is free space, what would iTunes use to fill the free space if it only used selected items?
    2) iTunes is allowing users construct an unhonorable set of choices out of four options. If "Selected playlists, artists and genres" is not compatible with "Automatically fill free space," then that option should be grayed out.
    It is compatible.
If there is free space after your selections are added, what should iTunes use to fill the free space? It shouldn't fill the free space with stuff already on the iPod.

  • ITunes not syncing music

    Hello,
I am having a problem with iTunes not syncing music to my iPad. I want to have my entire library on my iPad, this used to fit.
A few weeks ago I started getting an error, most of my music had vanished. I attempted to sync it back, but was told that there was not enough space on my iPad, despite no new files being added.I looked again and noticed something. I had 20GB of OTHER in iTunes, this is approximately the size of my music library.
It is fairly clear what happened, the music files were corrupted somehow, but were still there and taking up space on the iPad. So I decided to restore my iPad. First restoring and once everything had been wiped and back to factory setting, restoring from a backup.
This worked and I was left with only 1gb of other. At this point there was still no music on my device sync music was unchecked.
So once I was sure everything was up and running, I checked the sync music box... and nothing happened. It would begin synching, it would determine the tracks to sync for a moment... then it would quickly finish syncing without adding the music files.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you authorized your new computer: Store>Authorize this Computer?

  • ITunes not Syncing Lossless files to iPod?

Itunes not syncing Apple Lossless files to iPod?
I had a couple FLAC encoded CD's, and i recoded them into Apple Lossless using dBpoweramp.
These Apple Lossless files load perfectly into iTunes (Playable)
But no matter what I do, I can't get iTunes to put the files onto my iPod. But from what I've seen, my iPod should support these files! (I tagged all the lossless files with a unique Artist name, and told iTunes to only sync that Artist. Even then it wouldn't sync.)
Ipod Classic 6th gen 120 gb, Software version 2.0.1
    iTunes version 9.0.1.8
    Using Windows 7 RC 64-bit
How do I get this to work?

Same problem here, same application versions. I'm trying to get them to sync to an iPhone but it doesn't actually sycnc. They play without issue in iTunes. I converted them from flac to Apple lossless using dbpoweramp.
    Any suggestions would be helpfull

  • Why is my latest itunes not syncing music with my music on my iphone 4s with iOS 7?

Why is my latest itunes not syncing music with my music on my iphone 4s with iOS 7?

Here's what I did. If you have an existing playlist and add a song to it, drag the whole playlist into the phone icon. It will ask if you want to Replace the playlist..YES. In my case i added one song in the playlist to test it. It synced the one song and also kept all the other songs but it didnt run through every song, so it was really fast. This is what I would do...drag and drop. Also, I shut down my phone and started it again, before I did the sync. I hope this helps

  • Can not sync video (movies) from iPhoto to iPad

    iPad 64GB 3G
    MacPro
    iPhoto 8.1
    iTunes 9.1.1
I have a small number of videos (movies) managed in iPhoto. They cam off my digital camera and they go into iPhoto. everything has always been happy.
I select a small number of them and add them and some photos into a new album for my iPad. The photos work fine (shot and stored as jpeg and RAW) the videos do not transfer over. There is an error message about the .mov format not supported.
So why does the Apple iTunes not know how to get the Apple iPhoto movies and put them on the Apple iPad so I can see them?
I had to save a video from iPhoto out to file and open with Quicktime and then resave it and let iTunes sync it to GoodReader in order to see it on my iPAD. So why do I need a third party tool and a work around to get all of the Apple tools to work for my iPad when they seamlessly work for my iPod?

    Greetings,
iPad, like iPods and iPhones and Apple TVs, reads certain types of movie files.
The movies you are trying to sync are most likely, not a format that is compatible with iPad.
iTunes includes a built in feature that will convert movie files to the proper format. Take a look at the iTunes help menu: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/9.1/en/31445.html
Drag your desired movies out of iPhoto and drop them into iTunes. You can then follow the above help article to convert them to an iPad version.
You can also read about the specific formats that iPad supports: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP580
    __Look under "TV and video"
On an unrelated note, there are new versions of iPhoto and iTunes available. You can download them by going to the Apple Menu and Software Update.

  • Itunes 10.4.1: does not sync videos and does not communicate with outlook calendars

    Hellos,
Since upgrade to itunes 10.4 I have found the following problems and no solutions yet from apple (altought version 10.3 worked flawlessly):
1)When you check "include videos" on the sync photos tab, you get an error. The "solution" is to uncheck sync videos, but what if you want your videos?
2)I noticed today the calendar has issues. Appointments you input in outlook (on a calendar that is supposedly synched with iphone/ipad) do not show on the devices and viceversa (although they do show on iphne and ipad if you sync both, but outlook is left behind.
In outlook I have calendar and calendar mobile (the second is the one I sync to iphone). To test, I included a new calendar (calendar mobile test) and I as suspected when trying to sync, the new calendar does not show in itunes options to check the selected calendars. The previous library info probably show my mobile calendar (that was synched already) but the new one does not show up, so I think there is really a problem in itunes.
These bugs have been around now for some time now, and I am really surprised that are not adressed more agressively by apple developers.
While videos may seem as a secondary thing if you  look at it from a corporative point of view (but ****!!! I WANT my videos on the my ipad and iphone!!!!), not synching appointments you add to the ipad/iphone and you expect to show on outlook and viceversa, are meant to be an unplesant surprise for those who rely on these devices.
Bottomline: I like ipad/iphone, but APPLE..., you need to solve these issues that have been around the forum for some time now. Common!!!
    Windows 7-64 bits
    Ourlook 2007

I had a similar problem. My iTunes didn't start automatically when I connected any of my devices after the upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1.
I found I had to add the iTunesHelper.app in System Preferences->Users & Groups under my account on the Login Items tab.
You have to navigate to it in finder, because I couldn't seem to do "Show Package Contents" on iTunes.app in the Applications folder from the file dialog you get when you hit '+'.
Once you have opened the package contents of the iTunes.app then the iTunesHelper.app is in Contents/MacOS. I just dragged and dropped into the Login Items window, then ticked it to start on login.
Note, this will only start it when you log in, to start it immediately just double click iTunesHelper.app in finder.

  • ITunes still not syncing correctly with iPhoto 9.4.3

Since upgrading to version 9.4.x, iTunes hasn't been syncing correctly with iPhoto. There were duplicated events/albums, missing photos, photos not appearing in the same order on iOS devices as they do in iPhoto, etc.
With each version upgrade since 9.4, this seems to have been improving bit by bit. I have just upgraded to 9.4.3, and now photos appear in the same order as they do in iPhoto. The only problem left for me, is that there are still photos missing in iTunes. Which photos that are missing seems to be completely random.
I have tried rebuilding the library, which made matters a lot worse. Using 3rd party software like iPhoto library manager to rebuild the library didn't help either (iTunes syncing became a total mess, even more photos were missing afterwards).
I hope by version 9.4.4, iTunes will read all info correctly from iPhoto again, as it did in version 9.3.2. Anyone else still experience problems?

Sorry about that. Well, I've tried deleting the AlbumData.xml file as suggested also, but iPhoto itself generates a new file every time it's opened, so that's really a dead end. Rebuilding the library and through iPhoto Library Manager are the steps that required most work, and both did not work either, unfortunately.
I do believe that I'm not the only experiencing iTunes syncing problem, as there have been many posts here before when 9.4 came out. Like I wrote, it has been better with each upgrade, so there's definitely something in the coding with 9.4.x that messes things up. I had no trouble whatsoever with version 9.3.2 and prior to that.
    Terence Devlin wrote:
Please share a comprehensive list of things you've already tried so we won't your time - and ours - making suggestions you already know won't work.
Library size is not part of this issue. 12k photos is not a large library these days, I have one four times that size with no syncing issues.

  • Itunes fails to sync video from iPhoto, but manually is OK

I have some video clips from my digital camera along with my photos. The video clips were converted to a format playable on the iPad (using Handbrake). I choose the "AppleTV 2" profile, because the "iPad" profile would scale them down from 720 to 500-something. I encoded some videos to try it out and they played just fine after I copied them manually to the video "folder" on the iPad in iTunes.
However, when I enabled the "video" check box on the Photo page of the sync panel, the following message appears when syncing:
"videoname.m4v" was not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPad "my ipad"
The same message appears for the older mjpeg videos in SD format from my previous digicam. These videos are also playable on the device if I copy them manually. This seems like a limitation or bug in the iTunes synchronization process rather than a limitation on the iPad itself since the movies are clearly playable on the device. As a workaround, I manually sync the videos, but I would prefer them to appear along with my personal photos rather than in the "Videos" app on the device so that I can find them again. Is there a workaround to force iTunes to sync them?

For some reason that I don't understand, the clips are now "magically" synced. The only change is that I upgraded my Mac OS to 10.6.8.
    Anyone knows about this?

The Touch does not support HD video playback, never has.
I believe that HD videos come with the SD version included, I think these are what you have been previously synching to your Touch.

  • Syncing Videos in iPhoto with Apple TV

In syncing iPhoto to iTunes both pix and videos taken on my iPhone sync up and I have checked the box, 'sync videos', in iTunes/Devices/iPhone/Photos tab. The pics come over to Apple TV without problem and I can view them thereon via My Photos. However, the video doesn't come across. Am I missing something or this not currently possible?

the location of the library is irrelevant really.
just import the file(s) into itunes using File > Add To Library.
if itunes is configured correctly then it will import to wherever your itunes library is hosted.
if the file(s) isn't already appletv compatible, then right click on the file and choose "create appletv version"
