Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • I upgraded my iMac to OS 10.8.2 yesterday. Now iTunes will not sync with any of my devices - Apple TV (gen 1), iPhone 5 (with new iOS 6), or first gen iPad. I get an "unknown error 1140" for each device. Any ideas?

    Because the sync error is on every single device, and all 3 are running different versions of an OS, I assume this has to do with the new Mountain Lion upgrade. I probably should have waited for 10.8.3!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    A bit more info for those of you reading this.... the problem seemed to be in iTunes. For each connected device , if I clicked on the Photo option I could no longer select the second radio button for limiting the photos by Events, Albums, etc.  It was an all or nothing deal. But selecting all would cause the error.
    So I had read the other forum posts about the "&" symbol being the cause of the problem.  I went through iPhoto and made all of the changes. It did not work. I then looked at iTunes, using the AlbumData2.xml file listed in the other forums as a reference.  I found one album with the "&". I edited that one.  Still would not work.  So then I spent 3 hours on the phone with AppleCare last week. I talked with 4 different advisors. None of them had heard about the "&" error from the forums. We tried everything in iPhoto including repair and rebuild.  Finally we created a whole new library and reimported my master photos from my original one.  Using this option would allow me to now check off that radio button in iTunes.  BUT... I now lost all of my albums and events and would need to rebuid them.  I was not happy. They agreed and we set up time to talk this week.
    So today I talked with AppleCare again. They now have more info and said the problem has to do with iTunes and the new iPhoto 9.4. It does not like the "&" symbol anywhere in either iPhoto or iTunes. So they now have me going through everything in my iTunes library. Genre is OK but any other item cannot have " & ". I have several dozen to edit and will do it over the weekend and then restore my original iPhoto Library and see if I can finally get it all to sync. I will let you know how I make out, but apparently you need to eliminate " & " from every entry in iTunes and iPhoto.
    Quality control is not up to par with Apple these days.

  • HT1386 My Iphone 5S would not sync with any PC (Windows 7).

    My Iphone 5S would not sync with any PC (Windows 7). It was working fine until a few days ago! now my phone would not charge nor sync with any PC (I have try personal computer, work, etc) everytime a message will appear and would say "USB device not recognized, the USB device attached to this computer has malfuctioned and windows does not recognized it" I have not make any changes. All I did was install Zedge app in my PC and Iphone and try to download a ringtone from it. Please if someone can help me I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

    Settings, Mail Contacts and Calendars, Select the Gmail account, Select "Fetch new Data, and you can try changing the interval to PUSH.  If that doesn't work, change the Fetch frequency to something shorter.  It sounds like you have it set to manually.

  • 2, after download of os5 will not sync with PC. "USB device not recognised" ... ANy ideas how to fis this ...

    help ... after dowloading OS5 my new iPad 2 will not sync with my PC. the message is "USB not recognised" ... any ideas how to fix this?

    I had same problem. By chance, I found a "work-around".
    On a whim, I tried plugging the USB cable direct into the PC (its an old 'tower' model that sits under the desk) instead of into the port on the monitor. The PC suddenly recognised the iPad.
    Why this makes any difference is a total mystery. But worth trying to see if it helps in your case.

  • Itunes not syncing with iphone & apple tv not seeing itunes

    Recently installed itunes 10.4, now itunes wont sync with iphone and apple TV 2 cannot see itunes on a wired network.  The error message says Apple Mobile Device has not started - confirmed that apple mobile device did start.  With upgraded itunes apple tv cannot see the itunes library on a wired or wireless network.
    Reinstalled itunes several times now, and nothing changes.  Using pc, windows vista, outlook 2007.
    Any suggestions on how to fix these problems?

    Sure it's selcted, it's just not being stored in my iPhone's iTunes library as its stored on my macbook's iTunes library. I've dragged it to where I want it and it still won't store. I havne't needed to connect them with a cable since late last year I think with the new iTunes and updates, and you shouldn't have to. But this is frustrating, I finally found a way to get Tool on iTunes and I can't get it stored on my iPhone.

  • ITunes not syncing with my new iPhone

    My new iPhone is syncing mail and calender with Exchange. However, it will not sync with iTunes. I had one successful sync and the rest of the time is says it cannot read it due to "unknown error." Has anyone had this experience? Andy suggestions?
    Also, I can't seem to figure out how to access renting videos via iTunes wirelessly on my iPhone. I cannot find the category for movies or videos on the display. Any advice?
    Thanks so much.

    Do a restore.
    You can't do videos on the iPhone version of the store-just music.

  • HT204150 Contact(s) on my iMac NOT syncing with my other IOS devices.

    I can create/modify/delete a contact via iCloud using Safari on my iMac and/or my iPad and/or my iPhone and all sync fine with each other - including the new Contact showing up in my "Contacts" on my iMac.
    BUT when I create a new Contact on my iMac it does NOT sync with my other devices.
    My iMac is running the latest version of Mountain Lion (10.8.5), my default account on my iMac is iCloud (and also default on my IOS devices).
    Also I cannot delete a contact in my Contact list on my iMac.
    I have tried logging out of iCloud Contacts and logging back in, restarting my iMac etc. nothing I tried fixes my issue!
    HELP!
    Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

    Make sure you are changing contacts in the iCloud account and not On My Mac or someting else, as it is the only accoun that will sync with iCloud.  If you are and you haven't tried, add any missing contacts from your Mac to your contacts on icloud.com, then sign out of your account, then sign back in.  Go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in icloud), restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in.  Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads.

  • ICloud not syncing with any of my apps in Mac

    Hi there, I hope someone could help me on this.
    Apparently, iCloud does not sync with either my Macbook Pro or iPhone 5. I've logged into iCloud online and surprisely the contacts are old ones, and it does not locate my Mac nor my iPhone as well.
    I've turned on the Find My Mac function on my MBP, and the iCloud sharing on both my MBP and iPhone5.
    Can someone please help me on this?
    Thank you very much for any kind soul out here.

    connect it. open itunes. There is a section called store there. search for apps.

  • Apps purchased on itunes not syncing with iphone

    I recently purchased some apps from the App Store using iTunes but when I synced it with my iPhone it didn't work. This is the first time it's happened. All the other times I purchased apps through my macbook, they synced perfectly once I connected my iPhone, except for the ones I downloaded last night. I tried downloading them straight from the App Store in my iPhone, and when asked "You already purchased this, would you like to download it again for free?" I clicked Ok, but still nothing happened. Now I have five apps missing which I paid for and haven't even used.
    Any suggestions as to what else I should try?

    Similar problem. Apps downloaded to iTunes do not sync to my iPhone (Edge/2.0) despite clicking "Sync" in iTunes. The icons do not appear on the iPhone. My account shows the apps ordered in the receipt, but they only remain on my Mac.
    Workaround: I had to download the apps directly (wirelessly) to the iPhone. I did not restart the iPhone.
    Expected behaviour: the apps should appear on the iPhone after syncing with iTunes.

  • Changes made in iTunes not syncing with iPod Touch

    Anyone have suggestions on a strange issue.  When I make changes in items on iTunes (ver 11.1.3.8), itunes appears to sync with the ipod, but the changes are not reflected on the ipod.  iPod software is current.  Many thanks for your advice.

    What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
    Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
    Do the songs play in iTunes?

  • OSX Calendar NOT Syncing with iCloud BUT iOS Devices DO

    So to set the scene....
    I have an early 2009 iMac running Mountain Lion.
    I have 2 x iPhone 4's running iOS 5.1.1.
    I have 1 x iPad (1st Gen) running iOS 5.1.1
    I use to keep mail, contacts and calendar in sync between all the devices using MS Exchange. I recently switched this to iCloud.
    All the Calendars I have are all iCloud (so NO local calendars).
    Mail syncs without any issue.
    Contact syncs without any issue.
    Calendar syncs have an issue with iMac syncing to iCloud.
    To be clear...the following Calendar syncs DO work:
    iPhone #1 --> iCloud
    iPhone #2 --> iCloud
    iPad --> iCloud
    iCloud --> iPhone #1
    iCloud --> iPhone #2
    iCloud --> iPad
    iCloud --> iMac
    Whereas the following Calendar sync DOESN'T work:
    iMac-->iCloud
    What's even stranger is that if I...
    Switch off Calendar & Reminder syncing on my iMac (System Preferences)
    Close calendar
    Wait 5 minutes
    Switch back on Calendar & Reminder syncing on my iMac (System Preferences)
    Open calendar
    ...then the iMac-->iCloud syncing WILL work for a few hours. After a few hours it will stop syncing.
    Thanks for reading. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ben

    Since this post has had no replies, thought I'd comment to see if anyone can answer the above question.  I have the same problem with one exception.  The part that is not syncing is from iCloud to my iMac.  All other sync paths work between my iphone, ipad, and iMac.  If anyone has a fix for this, please share.

  • All songs in iTunes not syncing with ipod

    i have a bunch of songs that i've ripped / downloaded in my itunes account that no matter what i do i can't get it to sync with my ipod...i ripped the cd and it plays fine in itunes but when i look for the songs on my ipod there's only 3 off of the entire cd...any help???

    re download the cd and make sure you put them in your library then make a playlist and try to highlight and drag over to your ipod. Also make sure you have the latest version of itunes and quicktime. This should work.

  • Itunes not syncing my music to ios7 devices

    Before I had iOS7 on my iPhone 4, I had all my music saved up and I was a happy person. But when I updated my phone, I could not sync any music into it. I called apple to see if they could help, but no they couldn't because my phone was "too old" so I left it that way and am now using my itouch, which still has iOS6 and i have NO PROBLEM syncing music into it. Well today I got a brand new iPad mini and I am having the same problem! I have been going through forums about having to reset it (which I have done) and having to change all these different settings. NOTHING WORKS. So what I am asking is that if anyone is having the same problem. I am about to do something about this because I am not willing to have an iPad that is unable to sync music. I AM DONE WITH THIS NONSENSE.

    Ok, well at this point, if you have gone through the 5 R's and tried other things and it's not working then the best thing for you to do is return the ipod for an exchange (if it's still in the exchange policy timeframe based on where ever you purchased it) or contact Apple for a warranty exchange.
    Sorry nothing else worked for you.
