ITunes not updating podcasts?!?!

So now it's up to itunes to decide when and when not to updat a podcast? I am very very busy lately and, just haven't connected it to my pc to update (this particular podcast is a subscription based podcast and doesn't auto update.on the ipod) for about a month, and have been using my ipod speakers to charge. I have noticed that it hasn't downloeded automatically on the PC like it used to when I started itunes for awhile. I just assumed I was misisng the updates when iTunes was started. (It hasn't been started very often over the last month). Today I saw an exclimation point where the refresh button was telling me I havne't listened to the podcast in awhile therefeore iTunes has stopped updating this one, and it wouldn't download new ones till I synced my ipod today. Why must I listen to a podcast i am subscribed to in order to continue receiving updates? Should I just click on one every now and then, or is there an option to turn off this horrid thing off so I can just get updates like before and not have to worry about it?

Stephen, have you tried hitting the refresh button at the bottom right-hand corner? That worked for me.

Before blaming Apple, was any troubleshooting actually attempted?  If so, what was done?
Or was it simply easier to jump to conclusions?

  • *** is up with itunes not updating my info??

*** is up with itunes not updating my info. the problem I am still having after 3 weeks is I can not update my credit card/debit card info because itunes says my billing information does not match my bank records. I know this is lunacy because the info I put in is completely correct, i even contacted my bank 3 times to make sure they had my info correct. so obviously something is completely ******** with itunes/iphone in which I cant update my info. **** I cant even download a free app, because it says my info has changed, and I need to change it. when i do, it gives me that stupid message about my info not matching my bank records. Something needs to be done asap.

does itunes support ever respond to these forums??
Since these are user-to-user forums, no they don't.

  • Itunes  not updating bonjour error

Itunes not updating bonjour error (the older version of Bonjour cannot be removed)

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes stops updating podcasts / iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?

    Hi,
My iTunes is set to automatically update podcasts and keep the last five episodes of each podcast.
However, iTunes appears to stop updating podcasts after several (five?) unwatched episodes and gives me an exclamation mark in the podcast overview. Clicking on that, I get the message: "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
This is not what I intend... and not  what I  told iTunes to do... (at least this my reading of the below settings)
This stopping is rather less then ideal: (1) if I am going away for two weeks, which I often do, I would still like to have the last five days of news, not the last five days of news back from the date I left, (2) I need to click update for approx. 20 podcast on regular basis, (3) my iPhone is synced to iTunes as soon as I come home, if iTunes does not have the podcasts downloaded, they are not copied over to the iPhone, and the iPhone will attempt to download the episodes via 3G next time I play the podcast on the go, (4) I am mainly using iTunes functions, such as smart playlists and podcasts, through another app (Plex, a fullscreen media player) and it is a pain to have to go to iTunes to manually do things. That is why this bothering me...
How can I get iTunes to behave as intended? (From reading through old posts I know that there is a Doug script adressing this problem, which I have just set up, but I would prefer to use internal settings if possible... maybe I am just missing a setting)
    Thank you for your ideas!

Thank you for the response, Roger!
OK, that's how it is then.
The iTunes podcasts settings should be reworded in that case because it suggest something different from what it does. And, of course, it would be ideal for Apple to make this more flexible and allow users to set up their podcast downloads in their way and not be so motherly (c'mon, Apple, your users are not as dumb as you think, and they have uncapped Internet connections these days anyway)...
Btw., for anyone interested, this is external script I am using now:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=updateexpiredpodcasts
Including the "cron job" setup here:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/2011/12/updated-update-expired-podcasts-v2-2-and-l aunchd-project/
Cannot tell how well it works because I have just set it up, other members of the forum say it works for them...
If anyone knows of in-app solutions, please share...

  • New Podcast for iTunes Not Updating in the iTunes Store

    Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
    http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
    My Feedburner URL is:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
    http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Sara Simms

    Hello Sai,
You can try below and let me know the result.
I believe you must be using cycle counting method. Make sure the person name of inventory document creator and the person who actually count the document is same. If so then last counting date will be correctly updated. I would advice you to simulate below scenario.
Create the PI document and assign the name of person. And perform the actual counting by another person by exactly same method for which you were getting an error. Then observe the results.
If above solution fails to find out the cause then consult SAP.
Cheer up!! and all the best!!!

  • Itunes not updating new Podcast feeds

We have 50 different weekly shows that have been updating fine until this last Monday. Nothing has changed on this end. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Well I'm really glad I have found this, ill tell you why.
I own crankygamersuk.net, now due to my very limited resources I have always gone with a free hosting service, which severely limits my space, meaning I can only get 2 of my podcast on there at a time, consequentially I have to delete the oldest whenever I put the latest one on.
Now I tell you this so you can understand my problem.
So this has been the case for nearly 3 years of my podcast, and not once have we had any problems, until now.
For some unknown reason, people who are subscribed to my cast on there mobile device are only getting to see the last 2 episodes showing up, even though I have put the latest one up, and deletes the old one.
Example, go check itunes now for "cranky gamers uk", and you will see only episodes 91 and 92, and yet last Friday, I deleted 91 from my host, and uploaded 93.
So right now anyone on a mobile device can not get the podcast the way they used to because Itunes is not updating fast enough.
Of course if you go on a PC or Mac, you can right click and select update to receive the latest show.
But that is not good enough, I have many mobile subscribers.
So can someone tell me what the latest situation is, and what the best option is, this is effecting my subscriptions.
Also would you contact support?, if so anyone have best address for inquiries.
    thanks

  • ITunes not updating any podcast, err = 404

just got back from weeklong vaca, immediately downloaded iTunes 8.1. 6 out of 8 podcasts have new episodes. 1 of them downloads correctly, every other one returns with "stopped (error = 404)" no matter how many times I try to refresh. deleted 8.1 and downloaded again with same problem. I deleted one subscription and re-subscribed only to find that I got the same message for new episodes as well as all previous episodes. Please Help.

Same issue here.  I was hoping to see an answer here about a know issue with podcasts not updating.  I am also having tons of issues with my iPhone 4S but am only told it is operator issue.  Funny thing is, my brother who was the head Mac Genius (back when they actually knew somethig) in one of the Austin stores said it is a software problem.  No one else will admit there are any problems with their software.

  • Itunes does not update podcasts mac

My itunes no longer updates podcasts.  Last successful update was 7/14/14 for one podcast and 7/11/14 for others  v. 11.3 (54).  Clicking on the ! does not work.  In some cases it freezes iTunes.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Unfortunately it did not work out. It downloads the file and then after a while "processing the file" and the it gives the message "timed out make sure you're connected to internet"

  • Apple TV not updating podcasts.

    Hi,
I use my Apple TV every day to watch different podcasts, but since a few days the podcasts in my Apple TV are not updating. I have restarted my iTunes on my computer and restarted my Apple TV, but that is not working. Any advice on what to do next?
    Best,
    Marco.

Yes, I am having the same problem with my 2 ATVs after the update, but there is another strange occurance that I think may be related... I gave my father an ATV as a present recently and told him to just use my ID to access podcasts as he didn't have an apple account.
I seems that my updated ATV caused problems with my fathers because he was using the same account... Also, for me even when I check the podcast through iTunes in only lists up to February 5... Seems it may be an iTunes account & sync related issue...
I hope this is resolved very soon...

  • ITunes stopps updating podcast subscriptions

    Hello!
I use iTunes for a long time now to subscribe and archive podcasts, even though mostly I listen to them on my iPhone these days.
So far everything worked fine, but a few weeks ago I noticed, that iTunes stopped the automatic update of some podcasts. These subscriptions were marked with a little exclamation mark. When I clicked that I got the following message meaning in English "iTunes stopped the automatic update of this podcast, because you didn't listen to an episode recently. Do you wish to continue automatic update of this podcast?".
Since I normaly listen to podcasts these day on my iPhone and use iTunes mainly to archive some podcasts I like (some of them go back almost 8 years now on my hard drive) it can happen that I don't listen to episodes on my computer for weeks. But I still wish iTunes to update and download the latest episodes of some subscriptions in the background without me having to think about it.
Now since I noticed this behaviour after about two months it caused me some trouble since I missed downloading some episodes that are not anymore in the feeds :-(
Anyway, is there a way to stopp iTunes from doing that? Of course I answered the above question with "Yes" but now a few weeks later I noticed iTunes again stopping to update one of the podcasts.
Maybe this behaviour was added with the best intentions but it is very annoying if it can't be turned off. So far I didn't find an option for that in the settings, is there one in iTunes for that?
    Thanks and greetings!

iTunes will stop updating a podcast subscription if you have more than five episodes downloaded but not listened to, as detailed in this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23353
    which states:
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.
There is an AppleScript available which will apparently deal with this (I've not tried it):

  • ITunes not updating iPod rated songs

I have used iTunes and iPods for several years. I always use automatic updating. Previously, any change to a song rating I made on my iPod would be reflected in my iTunes library after a sync. Since my most recent iTunes update (7.1.1), I have two problems. (1) iTunes does not update the ratings changes made on my iPod and (2) podcasts which I listen to on my iPod are not marked as "not new" in iTunes. It appears that Apple has screwed up something in the sync process in the newest iTunes version. Is anyone else having this problem?

Having exactly the same problem as your first issue. In the playlist of top-rated tunes they all appear. However my iTunes library has 460 relevant tunes, whereas the same playlist on the iPod has 100 fewer. They are greyed out and can't be changed and aren't played.
    Any ideas?

  • ITunes not updating after 30 episodes

    hi, im a bit desperate...
i own a podcast produced with podPress plugin under Wordpress. The plugin has an option to configure some iTunes store things. It has worked for 30 episodes but the iTunes store is not updating any more from its feed:
    http://www.inq-mag.com/?feed=podcast
I have added 3 more episodes but they dont appear on the iTunes podcast page, as well as the info and podcast picture. I guess the problem comes from updating Wordpress, but the feed looks OK.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=267963091
I dont know what has happened but i see im not going to be capable to solve myself...

One of three things has happened.
    1. iTunes has stopped updating altogether from the feed.
    2. There is something in the feed since episode 30 which has caused iTunes to choke on it and not read it.
    3. Wordpress has changed the feed URL so that the feed you link to is not the one that iTunes is using. Since it's not possible to detect from iTunes the feed it's using I can't check on this. However using 'Advanced>Subscribe to Podcast' in iTunes does show ten episodes up to 33, as does the feed you link to.
1 & 3 are unlikely but I suppose possible. Did you do something to the feed after episode 30?
If you submit your feed to http://www.feedvalidator.org it is flagged as valid (this isn't absolute, I've seen iTunes reject feeds which FeedValidator thought was valid); however you will see several comments, principally about the use of HTML code in the summaries etc., which strictly you shouldn't be doing.
More important, the 'item' tag for episode 30 contains two 'enclosures'. The usual result of this error is that the second one is simply ignored, but I suppose it's possible that this could cause iTunes to choke and refuse to update the feed.
More than that I can't comment, not being familiar with WordPress. If they have a Help area or a forum you could try asking there.

  • ITunes not updating RSS feed.

I am hoping someone will be able to help me figure this out:
After a hiatus of several months, I have started releasing new podcast episodes. The last episode in the iTunes store directory was Nov. 14, 2012.
In the last week I have released 2 new episodes, but since the content was time sensitive I backdated them. I changed the Nov. 14 podcast to July 20 and then added a September 15 and a February 22, 2013 episode.
The changes show up through iTunes software, but not in the iTunes store. It still shows the last episode as being Nov. 14, 2012. It has been 4 going on 5 days without any changes.
Also, iTunes is not displaying my podcast logo, even though I have uploaded a 1400 X 1400 jpeg.
I have checked and the podcast feed validates without a problem.
I am at a loss as to what to look for or try next. If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative for any advice.

    Hi Roger,
I contacted Apple and received this confusing reply (cut and paste below). It is confusing on 2 counts; 1) My feed validates just fine and 2) within minutes of receiving it, iTunes updated my feed to show 2 missing episodes.
Still, the artwork is not showing and I posted another (backdated) episode over a week ago and it still hasn't shown up in the store yet either.
I am wondering if I should resubmit my feed as the Apple support email suggests but do not want to loose my current subscribers.
    Any thoughts?
This is the email I received from Apple:
    Dear Malcolm,
Welcome to iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is Abdul and I will be happy to assist you.
I'm sorry to hear that you have been unable to get your podcast listed on the iTunes Store. Addressing your concern is important to me.
Malcolm, it appears that your podcast's RSS feed is not validating. To help find the problem, you may want to use a feed validator, such as this one:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org
You can get help with many specific issues, learn how to test a feed, and view a sample feed in the iTunes Making a Podcast page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html
If you can successfully subscribe to your podcast and listen to each of the episodes, try resubmitting the feed to the iTunes Store. If you receive a message that the feed has already been submitted, the iTunes Store is detecting that the podcast is a duplicate. Please follow these steps to resubmit the podcast:
    1) Change the title and link fields of your RSS feed to something other than what they are now.
    2) Resubmit the podcast feed via iTunes.
    3) Once you have successfully submitted the podcast, you can change the title and link fields back to what they were.
If you're still having trouble, consider consulting the Apple Discussions forums, which have a wealth of information about specific issues. Click Producing Podcasts in the Pro Digital Production area of this page: http://discussions.apple.com
I hope the above information will help you.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
    Have a nice day!
    Sincerely,
    Abdul

  • My iPod does not update Podcasts correctly

I have a 4th generation iPod that supports podcasts, but whenever I update my iPod, the podcasts go into my music library and not the podcast directory. How could I fix this? Also, I deleted a podcast totally off my computer, and it still remains on my iPod even when I updated. The podcast refuses to remove itself from my iPod. Is there any way I could solve these problems? (I know I also have another post on this, but nobody has answered my other post. It's also been a couple days since it went up)

Yay. Thank you King Cole. You brought a problem to my attention which I just fixed, and it helped me fix another problem too. Here's my procedure for what I did -
    1) I opened the iPod Updater.
2)I got an internal manager error.
3)Updated my iTunes 6.00.18 software to the new 6.1.3
    4)Reinstalled iTunes Updater Software 10-12-05
    5)Reset iPod to factory settings
    6)Reloaded iPod
Not only did the Manager error get corrected, but my podcasts were placed in the correct directory and the Fox Broadcasting podcast that I had deleted a long time ago has been removed from my iPod.
