ITunes not working, no errors messages

Question

So my iTunes recently just stopped working. I click on the icon for it, then there's a loading thing next to the mouse arrow, then nothing happens. I tryed to download it again and it replaced all the files, and still nothing happens. No error messages or anything. Should I just delete iTunes then reinstall it? I realize this may just be my computer's fault, but any help or advice would be awesome, considering I've gone a week without iTunes and I'm starting to freak out.

Actually, that's exactly what happens, itunes.exe shows up, then disappears after a second or two.
gaah. that sounds suspiciously like the malware. (it appears to be a variant of Qoologic that most scanners aren't picking up.)
you can get some temporary relief (in terms of launching itunes) by using the following technique:

... you're especially on the look-out for weird 4- and 6-letter items that don't get any hits when you google on the names (the names are randomly generated).
getting rid of the beast properly is tricky. we've got a manual procedure that has been working for some people:

but if you're getting no joy with that, try:
(1) "submitting" a sample of the beast to your commercial antispyware/antivirus packages' manufacturer
(2) visiting one of the reputable heavy-duty-malware-removal forums to see if they can help you get rid of it.
