Itunes not working on new computer

My old computer got fried and I just hooked up my new computer (pc-xps8500) and down loaded the latest version of itunes.  When i opened it up my  library was empty. I check and it says my computer is authorized.  Thanks in advance.

Your library will only be where you put it.
It will not magically appear on your new computer.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer for this very occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to back up, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • ITunes not working with new iPod

After recently getting a new iPod, I cant get it to work.
The problem is no tin the iPod, Im sure of that. The problem occurs with any iPod on the system.
The problem is that when the iPod is plugged in, it recognizes it, but not as an iPod. At first we thought it was because of other USB devices on the computer, and removed them. One of the devices was an external hard drive, which has all of my iTunes music on it. We moved the external drive to a different networked computer, and made it a network folder. That way we can access all of our iTunes music from a different computer.
That works very well...All of our music can play fine, but the iPod is still not recognized. It says that the firmware on the iPod is corrupt, and asks if we want to restore it. Click yes, and we get error 1418.
    How do we fix this?

hmmmmm. you're not getting the classical symptoms of the following issue. but since the PC is networked to other drives, we'd better check on the possibility from the following document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • ITunes not working and new downloads not happening

    Hello,
A few weeks ago, I performed system upgrade which included the new iTunes, Quicktime, and Security update. Afterwards, iTunes quit working; I got a message saying "could not open application because it does not exist" (maybe not exactly what it said). I tried removing iTunes, removing iTunes helper, restarting....here is where further problems started, because now my computer won't restart, shut down, or turn off unless I do it by holding down the power button. So I held down the power button to restart and now I can't open or empty the trash, the "about this mac" screen won't open, system preferences won't open, no downloads whatsoever will run or attach, and of course iTunes still won't work.
My music folder is still there with all my music, so I feel ok there / I'm just looking for any helpful advice on anything i can do...or if I should just go see a pro.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Why will iTunes not work on my computer?

I cannot get iTunes to work on my desktop computer. I had a crash some time ago and think it may have to do with a missing driver. I hope someone can help me with this problem. I can access iTunes on my laptop but it is not convenient.

    What computer is it?
Have you tried to fully uninstall the program and reinstall it?

  • Flash Player not working on new computer

I just purchased a new computer; HP Pavilion 23-g010 All-in-One. 64 bit Windows 8.1 When I try to play my games on facebook it says that I need to install Adobe Flash Player. When I follow the prompts the computer shows a pop up that says it's already installed. I check all your trouble shooting requests and none of them work as the computer pop up continues to say that it is not needed eg; updates. Active x is ok. What should I try next? Thanks for any input.

  • LTS kernel not working on new computer

I recently purchased a new computer and installed arch on it. The stock kernel works fine, but I would like to use the lts-kernel and thats where the problems begin. When seeing the shell for the first time the text is not very clear and it seems to be a problem with the graphics settings. I have a GeForce GT610 GPU and have installed nouveau drivers.
    Dmesg tells me the following:

I have tried using the official nvidiaa drivers, but the same problem occurs, and besides I would rather use open source drivers.
Anyone who has an idea of whats causing me problems? Any help would  be much appreciated. Is there any additional information I can give you which could help locate the error?

that's probably not what you're looking for, but i would recomend not to use the LTE kernel. i've tried it a few times (because of some overheating-after-suspend/resume issue), but i always ended up with more problems than i had with the current kernel -- which has been exceptionally stable for the last 1.5 years i've been using arch.
i think LTE may be fine if you run a server without fancy graphics and a very limited set of packages/services. generally things get fixed for the current kernels much faster than for LTE, in my experience.

  • Authorization not working on new computer; can't play music!

I moved all of my music from my old computer to my new computer, and I did so using my iPod and the instructions that Apple provides on their website. All of the music shows up in iTunes on the new computer, but it won't play. I get a pop-up indicating that I need to authorize this computer to play whatever song I have selected, but even after it tells me "Authorization Successful, You have authorized two out of five computers," I cannot play the music. I have tried everything humanly possible to fix the problem, to no avail. Can anyone help? This is very frustrating.

    Suedarn,
When you bought and downloaded the episodes, you got what you paid for. When you goto another computer you can't redownload them, you have to transfer the file from the old PC to the new one or make a backup of what you bought so when your PC crashes, you can reload the PC with a backup.
If you only saved the "Programs" folder and not the "My Music" folder where iTunes puts all its bought songs at, then your most likly out of luck. You can try to email the Music storee to see if they will set up a "Re download" of your lost episodes and download them using "Check for purchases" under the advance menu in iTUnes. Just keep in mind there under no obligation to do so, it states on there site if you loose it you have to buy it again. I had a system failer and emailed them and LUCKLY they offered a re download option for me to get my songs back and I made a backup ASAP
Heres a link to email the music store http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/download/

  • Password not working on new computer

New computer, transferred files from old iMac and now cannot log in with same password.  Same faceplate is shown but password does not work.  No options given to change

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why your password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. At the login screen, you can cycle through the available layouts by pressing the key combination  command-space or command-option-space. See this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • Sync did not work on new computer and original computer is broken.

I always synced Firefox on my original computer, clicking it once a day on the little menu on the top right, on the sync buttton with my e-mail beside it. I had all options checked (passwords, history, bookmarks, etc). Then, my computer broke, and it is a hard drive problem so it will come back completely erased.
Now, I accessed another computer on Firefox and Sync did not work at all. None of my information was saved, even when I click on Sync.
Both computers are Macs, one running on 10.6.8 and the other (broken) ran on Yosemite. Both had Firefox on the New Sync.
    Please and thanks.

This game was designed for Windows 95. Many older games wont run under the NT kernel (under XP and Vista) unless you use emulation such as DOSBox.
You could try setting the game to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode (Right click the games EXE file, choose Properties -> Compatibility Tab).
Otherwise you may need to install Win95/98, and possibly use an older Video Card since the display drivers change so rapidly and drop legacy features not used anymore.

  • ITunes not authorizing on new computer

I just purchased a new computer, authorized iTunes (3rd computer), and transferred all of my music, apps, movies, etc.  Now when I tried to sync with any of our devices, it will not sync some purchased songs claiming they "were not copied because they were not authorized for this computer."  iTunes tells me the computer is authorized and I've gone through the steps on apple's website to troubleshoot.  Still no luck.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, click "cancel" when iTunes presents the dialog box offering to synchronize to the iPod. Or hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
    Hope this helps.

  • FIOS not working on new computer

I have had Verizon FIOS for 3 or more years.  The browser supplied by Verizon crashed 2 years ago and Verizon said it was out of warranty.  I decided to try hooking up my desktop directly with the cable from the wall jack.  It worked and I was able to use FIOS that way wiithout replacing the browser.
Now I have bought a new desktop.  I plugged in the cable from the wall jack and I cannot get on the Internet.
I can plug the cable into my laptop and get on the Internet as I am now.
Any suggestion on what I can do to get the Internet working on the desktop?

This problem is usually a result of not releasing the DHCP lease on the old computer or router before connecting the new one.
VZ's DHCP lease interval is 2 hours, so this problem should have cleared by the time you read this.
If it hasn't cleared, this FAQ may help:
How do I clear my DHCP lease
If it hasn't cleared, another thing you can try is to reconnect the old desktop.  Verify that it's connection is active, then do an IPCONFIG /RELEASE (or equivalent command depending on your OS).  The new computer should then be able to obtain a DHCP lease.

  • ITunes wont work since new computer

I had iTunes on my old computer and I just got a new computer and downloaded iTunes. I logged into iTunes but none of my songs are showing up, and I'm scared that if i plug my iPod into the computer that all of my songs will dissapear. Is there anyone who can tell me how to get my songs back without deleting all of them off of my iPod?

Your iTunes songs will be on the old computers hard drive, so you'll need to transfer them over to the new computer. You can plug your iPod into your new computer, it wont delete the tunes on it, but I dont think you can swap them from your iPod to iTunes very easily.
Look at these two threads which are related to transfering the files from ipod to itunes.

  • Rs232 not working on new computer?

I had a working program running over RS232 to control some pumps on another computer, however when I run it on the new computer I get no communication with my device. It is the same setup, same configuration and everything. Nothing has changed to the program except the computer it is connected to. Any thoughts on what is going on? I can control the device perfectly fine via ASCII commands from the hyperterminal program on windows xp however Labview has no effect on the pump.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

do you have any link to a manual for that pump
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • Hard drive broke. ipod not working with new computer

    Hello,
My computer hard drive recently died on me.
I got a new hard drive installed and I downloaded a new version of itunes (I think the latest) but when I connect my ipod to my computer, although it turns on the ipod, my computer isn't reading the ipod. I tunes isn't being started up and when I start it up manually it doesn't read my ipod either.
Someone at work here suggested it may be that the version of itunes I have installed is not compatible with the ipod I have. My ipod is a couple of years old at least. Can that be possible?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Help--Touch 3g  not working on new computer, "device malfunction"

I'm posting for my daughter, away at college and totally at a loss.
Her 3rd gen iPod touch was working fine her at home on her 10 yr old Sony Vaio with WinXP SP2.  Her itunes on that computer is Version  10.1--I just checked.
She is now at college and has connected her Touch to a brand new Dell computer (which is running WinXP SP3 @ daughter's request) which has iTunes v. 10.5.3 installed.  A meesage comes up that the "device has mafunctioned...USB..."  So she tried all 7 USB slots on her tower, and nothing changed.  We know the USB drives work fine for other hardware.  Tried a different connector cord, with no luck.  Up until this point she had been charging her Touch with a wall charger; she hasn't synced orupdated for ages.  She did connect her Touch to a friend's Macbook last Thanksgiving and downloaded a few songs onto her Touch.
Any suggestions?  We do have a warranty on the Touch, but not sure if that's the issue.  Is there a checklist of what to do first, second, third, etc. to diagnose?

    Hi ,
Have you tried to reset the network settings as below:
Note: Resetting the network settings will clear all WiFi passwords and refresh device network connections.
From the home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down to, then tap General.
Scroll down to, then tap Reset.
    Tap Reset Network Settings.
Tap Reset Network Settings to confirm.
Note: If a security code is enabled, this will need to be entered between steps 4 and 5.
Is the phone EE branded also?
    Thanks.
