Itunes not working on the Desktop?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right section to post but here it goes. It still has to do with itunes. Okay for a while my itunes program started to not open on the desktop. The only way i can open itunes is from "Program Files" under My Computer. I have even tried to uninstall Itunes on the add/remove Programs and it will not let me uninstall itunes. Even if there is a new version of itunes comes out, it still won't install. What is going on? What do I need to do in order to fix this problem? Thanks for those who can help~

Um...that does not help because I already do have a itunes on my shortcut, and yet when i click on it, I get an error message saying: This action is only valid fro products that are currently installed. It used to work before, but now it doesn't and i get this message. I even tried downloading the newest version of Itunes, and yet it still won't let me install. And I'm stuck on the previous version of itunes. The only way i can fix this problem is reformatting my computer, and I don't want to do that because 1. It takes a while to format, 2. Since i have a dell notebook, I have to install every drivers (which does take a while cuz i have to restart alot after I install each drivers needed for my notebook). 3. I don't want to lose my files (yes i can make back ups, but that takes too long, and I don't want to waste much money on buying blank cd's, not only that, but also a hassle to put them back on the computer.
If nobody can solve this issue, I guess I might as well reformat my computer.

I am a new mac user. I don't know but for some reason, delete button on the desktop is not working, i.e. if I want to delete something I have to right click and then select "move to trash", is there are workaround for that, or it is like that only.

Hi There,
First, welcome to Macintosh! To delete a file, use Command + Delete (The key with the apple logo on it is the command key.) Pressing delete alone will not move the file to the trash.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

@ BDAqua > I tried your suggestion but no luck. holding opt+command just gave me a blue screen and it rebotted, pushing the disk out of the drive. Yes, the macbook has 1 gb of ram. I realize that the min req. call for 2 gb of ram so i've got an order in for another dimm to put into the machine. Thanks for your suggestions.
@ a_brody > Yes. The machine was plugged into a power source. The disk promts you to do that and i recall aspect this form other installs. Thanks for the reminder tho! ( btw your second post is like greek to me man!)

And yes previously i've been told by Apple that I needed the Box Set (not the family pack. i am using the family pack for OS Snow Leopard) to upgrade my 10.4.11 mac - they never mentioned adding ram but i figured that out on my own and an apple specialist recommended it when i purchased Snow Leopard and confirmed that I coul duse the Snow Leopard to upgarde from Tiger (10.4.11). I've also read extensively (as i said above) that it isn't necessary (always) to buy the box set. Several 10.4.11 users report having upgraded using the Snow Leopard upgrade disk only (not the Box Set) without trouble on intel macs (also see the apple link i posted). So i'm just ondering how they did it and i cannot.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

The wish list only works on apps you have to pay for. To get it tap the icon of the app you want to save. After it opens at the upper right corner is a box with a arrow. Tap that then tap add to wish list list in the box that opens.

You haven't identified the version so I can't tell if offering you contact options for Adobe Support will be of use to you. But they will likely be your only hope of getting resolution unless you just happen to be using the wrong number as the serial number.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

The issue seems similar to that in the first box though it would be nice to have the complete error message. Tearing out all iTunes components and reinstalling as given in the second box should resolve.

I had problems uninstalling Apple Mobile Support, I had to repair it first before I could uninstall it. You will have to restart the computer after all the uninstalls, and before reinstalling ITunes. I reinstalled ITunes from the Apple website afterwards (fresh download) ... everything works for me now that I have done this.

When i plug in my iPad2, iPhoto comes on not iTunes. I see iPad in system profiler under USB. I have reset, removed and re-downloaded iTunes. When I download iTunes it works until the next time i plug in the iPad2 and then the same thing all over.

Have you tried the following troubleshooting document?
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
If you end up using the If the iTunes Store opens successfully section of the document, and the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox is already checked, try unchecking and rechecking it and clicking OK.
