Itunes notification nuisance

Keep getting this message every half hour or so....."We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes Store at this time." on my iMac's screen, it's driving me nuts!
Any solutions how to get rid?
thanks

  • ITunes notification not working in 10.8

In lion I ran this code
defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool YES
It allows a bubble to pop up in Lion that shows the artist and song name when a song starts playing. This code doesn't work in Mountain lion for some reason. Any idea if there is a tweak I need to do to the code?

It's not necessarily an answer to your question, but with the release of Notification Center there is potentially third party apps that can create richer notifications for iTunes than this Lion trick.
I just downloaded iTunification and it fills the void nicely.

  • Many of the apps in my newstand won't let me get past the "connect to iTunes" notification.  When i touch "OK" the same notice keeps coming back.  What do i do.

many of the apps in my newstand won't let me get past the "connect to iTunes" notification.  When i touch "OK" the same notice keeps coming back.  What do i do.

Settings>Store>Your Apple ID - tap the ID and then sign out.
I only have one app in the Newsstand folder - the Sports Illustrated app. I have never gotten this message about connecting to iTunes so I'm not sure what that is all about. I would quit the Newsstand app and the other apps and the restart the iPad and see of that helps.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesnt work, reset the iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Phone won't turn on because if iTunes notification?

I recently got an updates on my settings on my iPhone so it's automatically updated and I agreed blah blah and eventually it said it needed to restart for the changes to take place, so obviously I did thinking all would be fine and now I can't access my phone at all because it keep coming up with a charger at the bottom of the screen with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo. I've tried connecting it to iTunes and it's taken two hours and absolutely nothing and has been saying that my phone needs to be restored? which I've tried but again nothing..I updated my iTunes so it can't be that and I'm just so annoyed because I can't get onto my phone at all!!!

    Hello leannemcculloch,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • The iTune Dock pop-up notification no longer works since last software update.

Previously i was using the pop-up iTunes notification, enabled by entering"defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool TRUE;killall Dock' into Terminal to activate it once only.
Since installing the last OS software update every time i change songs in iTunes, instead of popping up and saying what song is now playing as it used to, the whole dock dissapears and reappears when i change songs instead of the pop-up appearing.
    How can i fix this?

Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
If you see the HP PSC printer, select that then click - (minus)
Then download and install the driverrs for your printer model and v10.9 here > Software & driver downloads HP PSC 2350 All-in-One Printer | HP® Support
Then go back to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print then click + to add the printer.
If that doesn't help, follow the instructions for Resetting the printing system

  • Does the iTunes Now Playing Dock notification work on the macbook pro with retina display?

Hi, this command used to work on my old 2011 MacBook Pro, but now when I try it on my new retina display macbook, the Dock resprings everytime i pause or play a song in iTunes.
    defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool TRUE;killall Dock
is it not compatible with the new retina display OSX Lion?

This is not a problem with Retina nor Mountain Lion. I have the exact same problem with my MBP 13 inch early 2011 running Lion.
Everytime I play/pause in iTunes, Finder restarts. Everytime a new song starts playing, Finder restarts.
I've contacted Apple Support in Denmark, but since I do not have a paid-plan with the Apple Support, the guy sent me instructions on how to reinstall the OS.
Hope this thread will provide me with more precise answers.

  • How to activate iTunes "dock notifications" again?

    Hey there,
I upgraded to MountainLion 2 days ago and today I recognized that the "iTunes dock nofications" are missig...
These notifications poped up above the iTunes dock image when iTunes moved to the next song.
To activate this feature in Lion you used the terminal.app:
defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool TRUE
defaults write com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image -bool TRUE
    killall Dock
Does anybody know how to activate it in MountainLion or even push the song information to the notification center?
    Thanks a lot!
Plz: Don't mention Growl as an alternative

Some freeware called SizzlingKeys works like a dream, even on Mountain Lion.

  • Unable to update iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.1, iTunes 10.1 (54), Mac OS 10.6.5

iTunes notifies me that iOS 4.2 update is available for my iPhone 4.
    I'm on my MacBook Pro, with iPhone 4, iOS 4.1 (8B117), iTunes 10.1 (54), Mac OS 10.6.5.
I select either 'download' or 'download and update' and get the following error message:
*There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "_ iPhone". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.*
I have run *repair permissions*, rebooted the computer multiple times. I have 22Mbit Internet with a 120GB download limit with 90GB remaining.
Does anyone know what causes this arcane error? Surely the error indicates that there is a directory, most likely in ~/Library or /Library that has incorrect permissions, obviously +repair permissions+ hasn't fixed it. Does anyone know where iTunes stores its downloaded updates?

I fired up my G5 MacPro and was able to update the phone, I was also then able to determine the download location for iTunes iPhone updates which is
    ~/Library/iTunes
When I saw that I also noted that the permissions on that directory was Read/Write for System only, I added Read/Write permissions for Staff and then the download was able to happen.
Apple needs to amend the Repair Permissions programme in Disk Utility to ensure that the above directory ( ~/Library/iTunes ) is Read/Write for Staff or users won't be able to carry out iPhone updates.
I haven't had a chance to try the new printing features, however, my Bluetooth headset performance is dramatically improved with the iOS 4.2.1 update.

  • Itunes with Vista, Data Execution Protection settings closes Itunes.

I star-up Itunes.  It launches correctly.  Once the Itunes window is open and my music librairy appears, Microsoft closes Itunes.  The final message says its the Data Execution Protection settings that forced it to close.  I try and change the settings by turning the DEP off for Itunes, but it says that it can't run without it and refuses to disable it for Itunes.
Called Apple, they say it's a Microsoft problem...
Called Microsoft, they say it's an incompatibility problem with Apple and pointed me here.
    Any suggestions?

After seeing Bill-Taylor's response, I decided to try alexloise's suggestion to see if it would solve the relatively minor Vista/DEP on iTunes shutdown issue. The short answer seems to be "no," at least in my case. The Microsoft link that turingtest2 posted gave me a big headache, but did not show me how to disable AutoRun for the CD/DVD drive.  (If I understand correctly, other types of AutoRun should already be disabled if all Important and Recommended Windows updates have been installed.) So I tried the registry edit suggested in this article: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2254345,00.asp. Only then did I see the iTunes notification mentioned by alexloise:
Unfortunately, I continue to see the familiar DEP notifications when exiting iTunes 11.4.

  • Updating a book through iTunes for Windows

I purchased and downloaded a book through the iTunes Store, and it has since been updated.  My understanding is that I will need to delete the book from my library, and download it again, with this download being the updated version?
I have been notified that the book needs updating through iBooks on my iPad, but not through iTunes on my computer.  I find it strange that iTunes notifies you that Apps need updating but not books.
I could update it thorugh iBooks on my iPad, but I would prefer to do it thorugh my PC and syjc my iPad while connected through USB.
Additional question:  when I download a book on my iPad Retina, will the version of the book downloaded be the retina version or the non-retina version?  Currantly when opening a non-retina version of a book, I am asked to upgrade to the retina version.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry but unless the book is one of the unprotected free books from Project Gutenberg, you can't. You can read iBooks only on an iOS device.
    Regards.

  • Checking iTunes for a Track change?

okay so im about 2 days old when i comes to Applescript. I made a script that plays a track in iTunes notifies me of its name with growl which maintains a db of every song title. and does text to speech for me. is there anyway to Automatically check for a track change in iTunes and then the script automatically exectutes? if so how would I do that. and what is the scripting syntax to check for a event in a program? such as a keypress or a trackchange. thanks for all your help in advance

    tell application "iTunes"
set TrackName to name of current track
set TrackArtist to artist of current track
    say "Now Playing " & TrackName & " by " & TrackArtist
    set lasttrack to TrackName
    end tell
--the first track gets its own tell
    tell application "GrowlHelperApp"
notify with name lasttrack title lasttrack description "Now Playing " & lasttrack application name "iTunes Notifations"

notify with name currentTrack title currentTrack description "Now Playing " & currentTrack & " by " & TrackArtist application name "iTunes Notifations"
    end tell

  • Can't find all my purchases from iTunes on Macbook Pro

My iTunes on my Macbook Pro does not contain my full library of Music, Movies and TV Shows which I have purchased over the years.
I have just purchased a brand new Macbook Pro. All my purchases were available, then suddenly one day they had disappeared. When they dissapeard, I downloaded my available purchases to restore my library on my Macbook, however they are not all there, bearing in mind iTunes notifies me that there are no more purchases available to download, but I know there are still loads more.
Strange thing is, my full library is available on my iPhone and iPad.
    Any suggestions?

  • ITunes makes the Finder crash on Lion

    Hi guys.
I have this annoying problem on my iMac.
When i play a song on iTunes it makes the Finder crash.
I recorded a video to let you understand better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDqxVFHIeuI&feature=youtu.be
What should i do? I don't want to install Lion again...
    Many thanks

I have this problem too, in my case it appeared that the cause was from song notification (http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/19/show-a-now-playing-itunes-notification-in-the-os- x-dock/) I turned it off, and it works fine again.

  • IPod Nano and Play Count in iTunes

I don't usually pay much attention to play counts on my sixth generation iPod Nano.  But the other day I was reviewing the Top 25 Playlist and noticed it was full of songs that I don't play that much or that I tend to skip when they come up on shuffle.  Looking at my iTunes library on my windows PC I noticed that songs that should have high play counts are listed as never being played.  In addition, songs that I know for a fact I had played earlier in the day had last played dates that were several months old.  Upon searching through the forums, I found may posts about playcounts not tracking properly.  But none of them matched the exact problem I seem to be having.
Following from recommendations in the various threads regarding problematic playcounts, I reset my iPod to factory settings, recreated the library in iTunes, resynced the iPod and iTunes libraries, turned off cross-fade on the iPod and made sure that ITunes was set to automatically sync.  Doing so reset the playcounts to 0 for my entire library in both iTunes and on my iPod.  I then played eight songs on the iPod.  Two of the songs I skipped part way through.  When I plugged my iPod in to my PC, the iTunes notification came up saying my iPod was being synced with my iTunes library.  I was estatic to see that the playcount in iTunes totaled six like it should.  That feeling disappeared quickly when I noticed that not a single song listed as being one of the six played songs was a song that had actually been played.  In addition, two of the six supposedly played songs were songs that are in my iTunes library but not uploaded to the iPod.  I repeated the exercise with exactly the same results...play counts were correct but the songs identified as being played didn't match what was actually played.
    What am I missing?
    Cheers,
       DarWun

I have just noticed that the play count has been updated after I restarted my PC but only for the song I've listened after last connection so all my song count for the last week I've spent without connecting the iPod has been lost. Is it normal that you need to restart your PC before connecting iPod if you want your play count to be updated? I normally leave my PC without restarting for weeks..
