Itunes on a new pc wiped out my apps.

I needed a PDF file off another pc. Can you just drag and drop it to the ipad? Don't know if you can or how. So... I installed iTunes and connected the ipad, Authorized the computer and transferred purchases up so when I sycd it would not wipe out everything. So it syc'd the apps but wiped out most of my folders. Went back to my normals Pc. Spent two hours dragging apps around and recreating folder structure. Went to sync and got the message could not identify the ipad. Then it wiped out all my apps. Looked for a backup file to restore from but that could not be found even though I see messages that this thing is backing up all the time.
Anybody got any ideas how I get out of this mess and why Apple thinkds this is an acceptable way to manage a device. All I really wanted to do is move one PDF file to my iPad so I could read it in good reader but no I need to mess with the godawful iTunes. Right now I am down about 2 hours of work and 200+ apps.

If you sync with iTunes, yes there is a backup out there. I'm sure that you see the backup taking in place in the progress bar at the top of the iTunes window when the iPad is syncing.
Connect the iPad to the computer that you sync with, launch iTunes, and right click on the iPad name under the devices heading and select Restore from Backup from the contextual menu. A window will pop up with a drop down menu that will let you select any backup that you have in iTunes. If the backup that you are looking for is not in there - don't restore - just cancel the process and eject the iPad. If the backup is there, then restore from it.
However, the backup only contains device settings, your app data and settings, Safari History, Notes, Calendar Entries, mail accounts, your camera roll photos and videos, your home screen layout - and yes - it should also contain your folder structure ...and other things that you can read about here.

You still have to sync your media back to the iPad after you restore from the backup because those things are not contained in the backup - but are stored in iTunes instead. Apps, movies, music, books, photos, TV Shows, and so on.
If the apps are not in your iTunes library due to the fact that the iPad was erased when you synced with a second computer, they can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with. Read this for more information on downloading past purchases.

A very simple way to retrieve a PDF file from another computer would be to email it to yourself on the iPad. No need to connect the iPad and drag and drop a PDF from a second computer.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone. If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events. Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

I just connected my Ipad 2 to my Macbook for the first time in a while, and it said there was a new Ipad update, so I agreed to install.
It appears to have wiped out everything on my Ipad, and won't recognize Itunes on the Macbook for restoring things.

If all of the content is in your iTunes library on the Mac - you should be able to sync and put all of that content back onto the device. First you have to solve the recognition problem.
Quit iTunes, restart your Mac and then restart the iPad and see if the iPad is recognized after that. If not, you can look through these articles.

I need some help. I got a new computer & plugged in my ipod nano to charge. In the process of tring to set-up everything on my new computer (including and itunes account, I wiped out all songs on my ipod! Does anyone have any suggestions what to do?? I could realy use your help! THANKS

Itunes 11.1.5 crash, wiped out library and now not opening files

Itunes 11.1.5 crashed on my Mac OSX 7.5, wiping out my Itunes library and playlists. I have the albums on my hard drive but can't even open them with Itunes now (I can open them with other programs). I've tried redownloading Itunes thinking that somehow the program was damaged, but same problem with the fresh download. I have my playlists etc on my Ipod but don't want to do connect it until I'm sure that Itunes is functioning correctly- am reluctant to risk losing the data on my Ipod too.
What's wrong with Itunes that I can't open or add any files? And once that is fixed, is there any way of recovering my past library and playlists? Or if not, how do I safely transfer my Ipod's data to Itunes? It is not all Itunes purchases.

Okay, an update. Weird. I tried importing a cd into Itunes, and not only did that work, but when it was completed all the music from my hard drive's Itunes media library appeared in Itunes too. Not the playlists, but at least the albums. Odd, since for hours this morning I couldn't import even a single song. Assuming I have to manually recreate the playlists, that there's no easy way to recover those. At least Itunes appears to otherwise be functioning tho.

IOS 6 update, and data being wiped out on apps...

I just updated my phone last night and all the photos that were in a private photo album app all got wiped out. I have been doing regular backups to iCloud, and all app data is supposed to be stored there, but I don't know how to get the data back? Has anyone else had this problem? I recently lost the computer i had my itunes on. I also recently got an iphone. Everything was perfect and set up but then I had to create a new itunes account on my Dell desktop. Anyway, when i created the account and connected my iphone i told me something about my iphone only having what was on my itunes on the computer. I thought that was fine because all of my music is my purchases. But i turns out that a whole chunk of my music wasn't there and my playlists got screwed up. Playlists fine but I went to download the music and every single one of 33 songs says, Cannot download file corrupted, error 10000. Is this a problem with my computer? These files were fine before i connected my iphone to this computer and itunes setup on it. And I have them on my iphone but can't figure out how to move them from recently added to a playlist for running etc. Thank you!

so i went ahead and did a restore from the new PC and then a restore from backup. looks like that fixed everything... a few playlists were messed up and so far as i can tell, maybe just a few minor issues.

Itunes on new computer wiped out old songs while sync

My old computer that i had my collection on had to be trashed, so my songs were backed up on an external hard drive and i transfered them over to a new computer with the same account. Problem is, when i went to sync the ipod because i made some new purchases, it only synced the new ones while completely wiping all my old songs from my ipod. Before i could play my old songs on my itunes, now i cannot.
Did i miss a step somewhere? Or do i just need to get a new ipod?

1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
That should do it.

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

ITunes 8/Update 2.1 wiped out my iPod Touch - Can't even restore

I've been running iTunes 8 for a couple of days and when the 2.1 update popped up I automatically clicked OK - Apparently that was a mistake. 20 minutes later I was informed that the update failed due to an unknown error. It also locked up the iPod to the point that I had to do a complete reset, but then when trying to restore the iPod the same issue happens again. Does anyone know if there is an issue with iTunes 8 (Mac)/update 2.1 that's causing this?
Luckily, I also have a PC, where I know there's an issue with iTunes 8, so I declined the update and was able to restore my iPod using iTuens 7.7.1.11 for PC. However, most of my media and apps are on my Mac, so this is only a temporary solution.

64-bit XP is the clue, Katrina. A bunch of the 64-bit XP Orca-based workarounds out on the web don't work for 9.0.x, because of the way the iPod Service and AMDS have gone 64-bit in the 9.0.x versions. So those folks will often try installing an 8.x instead.
(It's been weeks since I last checked ... so I'm not sure if there are any newer versions of the workarounds available.)

ITunes 7.4.1.2 wiped out my songs, podcasts and playlists

I've just installed the new iTunes 7.4.1.2 on my Windows Vista based machine, and to my dismay, iTunes shows that I have no songs, podcasts or playlists. I could rebuild the library, but because that would take forever (especially the playlists), I'm wondering if there's a way I can find a playlist file somewhere that iTunes might have saved. So after my last response, I have now managed to get the Ring tone identifier bar showing possible ring tone songs to show up in iTunes. However, none of my 1,000 + songs have an icon to allow me to make a ring tone.

i seriously doubt apple would make anything that would wipe out stuff on your computer.
im pretty positive your computer has a virus or something.
i think you should look at a virus scanner, which i have McAfee, which works superbly.
