Itunes on iPhone 3gs requires "Download" after sync -- Help!
I've done a full sync of music and TV shows from iTunes to my iPhone... However, I can't play any of these files: they show up in my "purchased" folder on my iPhone but have the "download"/"cloud"/"download all" icon next to them. I've turned off the wireless updates... and they seem to be transferring during the usb sync from iTunes. I've tried to delete my music and TV shows from my iPhone and re-sync ... nothing works.

If it works on 3G and not on wifi, I suspect it's being blocked by your wifi router. You'll need to check the settings on your router.

I just got home from a 10-day trip, during which I merrily collected 50+ valuable contacts on my shiny, new iPhone 3GS, and downloaded 10-15 apps, many for money.
Immediately upon returning home, I tried to sync the contacts to google via iTunes/Windows on my desktop machine (since Apple limits me to one synching computer, I could not sync using my laptop) and after some mishigas (involving a failed 3.01 upgrade) found my iPhone totally dead (upon power-up showing an iTunes logo, a USB plug and an arrow between, and it then shuts down after 10 seconds.)
iTunes is telling me I now have to ~restore~ the phone, a misleadingly innocuous term for wiping all the data, presumably including all those contacts that I collected and are not backed up.
Please tell me I am not S-O-L, that Apple has some trick they can pull if I take it to the store, so that it will rescue all those contacts, and maybe even the apps.
No, I did not jailbreak this iPhone. All I did was standard stuff, but a lot of it.

It was indeed backed up before the failed update, though I gather that is not the same a syncing. But all the contacts, photos and music returned, exactly as they were just before the backup. What did not come back, however, were apps downloaded since the prior backup, 10 days ago. I can redownload those for free, since I guess the store remembers the sale. All I have to do now is recall which ones I need to redownload, but that will happen naturally.
What scared me here was the message that goes with restore, which does not mention the option to actually restore your data after wiping it out. Very strange use of language there.
Now all I have to do is deal with the buggy syncing with google contacts, apparently well-documented elsewhere (changes in google contacts often do not get reflected on the phone; merging makes mistakes; etc).

After updating iTunes and iPhone 3gs AppleMobileDeviceService.exe has been taking over 50% of my CPU. When i attempt to sync my iPhone iTunes hanges on backing up. I have uninstalled all the apple software and reintalled it. This fixed the problem until QuickTime updated. Immediately following the update Apple...Services.exe went haywire agian. Any help?

I can't keep my iphone 3gs paired with Lincold Sync after upragding the IOS to 5. It seems to lose the pairing if I turn my phone off. Help!!
The message I have on the itunes wi-fi sync screen is "sync will resume when "computer name" is available. I know the computer is available because I am working on it and even opened iTunes. In addition, I verified the computer name was the correct computer name on this computer. So.... what would make it "not available"?

I have exactly the same issue as described above : I installed the update 5.1.1 on my iphone 3GS and since then, I can not turn it on anymore. In Itunes, I get an error 37 when I am doing a restauration and it stops.
This error has nothing to do with firewall : I tried to restore the phone on several computers, including in an Apple reseller and it did not work anywhere.
I spent several hours on phone with the hotline from Apple which arrived to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, but the phone was working perfectly fine until I installed this update! -

You lost them from the iPad, or from the Mac(Book) Pro?
If you lost them from the iPad, yes, you can restore your last backup from iCloud. Settings - iCloud - Backup - Restore.
Note that you can always re-download apps from the App Store, and music from the iTunes Store, for free, if they are accidentally deleted.

USB connection to iTunes. Back up your 3GS with your last 3GS back up. DON'T use an iPhone 4 back up or higher. It will cause exactly this.

Apps updates will not download after syncing ipod
My app up dates won;t download after syncing ipod, they all say waiting, pausing and unpausing doesn't make them download any more like it did the first time this happened.... New installs do the same. itunes is up to date. ipod has iOS 5.1.1 I haven't changed anything either.. pleae help.

They will stop syncing with no workaround unless you sync by plugging the phone into your computer using a USB cable.
