ITunes on iPhone so many issues: Album Art, Missing songs, Empty playlists, International Account,

When i got my iPhone 6 all my music on the phone got messed up... and I think it's all iTunes Match fault.  I have an iTunes Match account, but I don't really use it.  My library is so big it's never been able to upload all my songs.
• On the iPhone 6 I have ITuens Match Turned off
• I have "Show all music" turned off so  only music downloaded to the device SHOULD be shown.
• Even though I have the settings above, all my playlists show up on the device... but they are empty.  Making very hard to find the music that is ACTUALLY on the device.
• None of the items I purchased from the iTunes Store have artwork.
• I used to live in the UK and have an iTuens account and music from that store.  Those songs play fine on my computer and they always loaded to my phone before, but now NONE of those songs will sync to the phone.  If a playlist contains the internationally purchased songs, it just leaves them out.  GRRRR!
• Finally... it never finishes syncing.  It just hangs on the last step "waiting for changes to be applied."
Any teas to fix any of these issues would be appreciated. Thank you! The items in RED are giving me the most frustration, and I'd like solutions to those the most.
FYI:
iPhone 6 running iOS 8.0.2
my home machine is an iMac running latest iTunes and latest OSX.

Thanks to kirbyfromtrenton, I have tracked down at least a partial fix for this problem:
1 - Turn off iTunes match in iTunes.
2 - Turn off iTunes match on the iPhone.
3 - Close iTunes and reopen.
4 - Connect your iPhone.
5 - Go into your music folder for the iPhone and delete all the songs.
6 - Turn back on iTunes match in iTunes
7 - Turn back on iTunes match on the iPhone
All of my music is available once again, although I'm still not seeing my playlists or artwork. That could be because I'm overseas right now with a slow wi-fi connection though.

  • Album Art Missing in iPhone 16Gb 3G

When i transfer albums to my iPhone only some of the albums display album art. Every album in my iTunes library has album art, most of it I have manually attached to each album.
when i use the iTunes interface to look at the music on my iPhone it displays the album art in the "Selected Item" section in the bottom left corner. i have checked multiple albums, and every song in those albums has the artwork. so it displays the art in my iTunes library, it displays the art when i view the music on my iPhone in the iTunes interface, but it does not display the art when i scroll through the music using the iPhone.
am i totally missing something here?

This has been issue for long time even for iPods before iPhone.
    The cause is this.
There are multiple ways of manually applying artwork to a song in iTunes. Only 1 is the best way to make sure artwork goes with the file.
    The three ways are:
    1. Drag a file/image to the bottom window where it displays artwork when a song is selected.
    2. Using the "Find Album Artwork" option in the right click menu for a song.
    3. Using "Get Info" option to bring up the Tags of the song and pasting a image into the artwork tab.
The 3rd is the best and only option you should use.
    Here is why.
If you use the little artwork window and put images in there, or if you tell iTunes to find artwork, what it does is uses the image supplied or the one it finds and then saves that image to a hidden file on your computer. Then iTunes notes/saves a pointer to that file matched to song. So "iTunes" when playing or looking at the file will say, oh there is a pointer to a file, let me go find that file and display the image. All good and dandy for iTunes.
However when you move that file (manually to another machine or sync to a device) it just moves the media file. The hidden image doesn't go with it as iTunes just uses it.
So the 3rd option of using "Get Info" to get into the tag editor does it different.
In the tag editor you are literally editing data contained in the media file itself. Thus if on the Artwork tab in the tag editor if you paste an image in there, when saved it will embed the image into the media file itself. Thus if you move the file to another computer or sync, that file contains the artwork thus will always be available to it no matter where it is moved.
So in summary, ONLY ever add artwork by using the ArtWork tab in the tag editor (Get Info option).
Nice thing is too when you do, since it literally changes the file (can see date change property update...and filesize) then when you sync it will notice a file change and update the song on the device. If you use the other options, no change is ever done to the physical file thus you will notice the file not change it's change date or size, thus on syncing after assigning artwork those other two ways, it will not retransfer the file because to the iPhone/iPod, it has not changed so there is no need.

  • ITunes 11: Album art in song view

    I WANT:
    1) Album art in song view with Date Added selected
    OR
    2) Add DATE ADDED to Album View (why isn't it?)
    3) If I can't have these anymore, cuz we all know Apple giveth and Apple taketh away on a regular basis, then Album View should automatically show the current song playing (why doesn't it?)
Also, I had to restart three times before Command L finally worked. I had to deselect and reselct Sync iPhone over WiFi to get that to work.
    Sloppy and unintelligent update.

If you are in Album view and click Song view, you can view all the information you wish.  It is an extra click but innovation seems to be that way these days.

  • Album Art missing from one track

I've got a fair-sized CD collection, which I ripped to 320k MP3 a couple of years ago on a Windows machine. I've just imported the albums into iTunes on my iMac. I've managed to resolve a few problems, but this one has me beat:
One album has one track with no artwork. I realise that you have to import artwork on a per-track basis, so I assume that the artwork was missing from the ID tag when the album was originally ripped.
Thing is, I can't find the artwork anywhere else to re-import it onto this one track.
Is there any way of getting the artwork from another track on this album onto the track in question?

It is pretty simple. Just select the track with album art, drag the album art from the artwork window to desktop and you will have a .pictClipping file. Now select the track with album art missing and drag the .pictClipping into the artwork window and you are done.

  • TS1424 Bought and Album and one song is missing after itunes froze  cant see how to dowload the missing song as it says Purchased

Bought and Album and one song is missing after itunes froze  cant see how to dowload the missing song as it says Purchased
Pls Help  Best and Kind Regards

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then see if it shows under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunee. If it shows there but doesn't have the clpud symbol against it for redownloading then is that track listed in the Music part of your library i.e. where you would click on it to play it ? If it is then delete it from there and it should then get the cloud symbol against it in Purchased.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com . iTunes Support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours.
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • ITunes 11.0 doesn't transfer album art to an iPhone

My album artwork shows up in iTunes but when I transfer the MP3 files to my iPhone (6.0.1) the album artwork is either missing or I get the wrong artwork, that is, I get the artwork for another album.   I tried to delete one album cover from iTunes and then get a new one from the iTunes Store and I got a message that the artwork wasn't available.  I've also tried deleting the artwork cache and I've tried deleting the album out of iTunes and re-adding it but nothing helps.
I've even loaded an app called Media Monkey onto my computer that can transfer the MP3 files to my iPhone with the artwork intact so there is nothing wrong with the file, the artwork or the phone, it's a problem with iTunes.
Does anyone know how or why iTunes would delete or corrupt the album artwork on an MP3 file?

This might fix you're problem, but might not. I've only checked this for my solution.
    Steps:
    1. Go to iTunes
    2. Click iPhone
    3. On the Summary tab, UNCHECK "Convert higher bit rate songs to... AAC"
    4. Delete all songs without album art on iPhone
    5. Reupload deleted songs from iPhone back onto iPhone
I've checked this with my iPhone plugged in, and when synced over wi-fi. Both worked fine and reuploaded my album art back on my iphone.
I believe the reason why the album art does not transfer to the iPhone is because when the "convert higher bit rate songs" tab is checked, it pre-converts. Meaning, it converts the bitrate and I'm guessing the Metadata with the artwork. Thus, it removes the artwork because it's only recognizable on the original bitrate. Hopefully this works for you!

  • Can't see album art in Songs view in iTunes 11, column browser issues

The column browser is still the most effective way for me to navigate my music, but in iTunes 11 it's only available in Songs view. This kinda makes sense, the column browser would be somewhat redundant in the other views, but Songs view is now missing the album art on the left side, which makes it a lot harder to view my music. This is what it looked like in iTunes 10:
In iTunes 11 it looks like this:
The album art was't just pretty, it had a great function of visually separating each of my albums in the list view. Now they all mush together. Sure, I can see the art now in the Artists or Genre view, but not with the column browser. I want to be able to sort by Genre, Artist and Albums - all three. Not one or the other. The column browser is the only way to do this and it just got uglier.
On top of all this, now if I navigate to a certain place in the column browser and then click on anything else in iTunes, like the Artists view, Movies, Podcasts, etc and then jump back to the column browser, the whole column browser is reset and I've lost my place. This never used to happen in iTunes 10.
It's like Apple is trying to marginalize the column browser till no-one wants to use it anymore.

I found this in another discussion about iTunes 11:
"To view in list/song view with art work on the side
Go to prefernces >general and uncheck use large text. Go to Artist view > view > options > check group compulations.  then clik on all artists and all you music will appear in list view  with the art work on the left This is great for me as I recognize my music by art work not title, artist, ect..  Wish I could do additional sorts/see info in this view such as date added, BPM, last played ect."
can you try it and post a screen shot?

  • Does anyone know of an iTunes 11 plugin that shows the album art preview of the selected track in the bottom left?

In previous versions of iTunes, there was a little box at the lower left side of the screen that displayed the album artwork of whatever track you had selected (or whatever track was playing, depending on your settings).
I really miss this feature, as many others do. I have considered downgrading to 10.7, but my iPhone 5 is running 6.1 and I don't think the two will work together..(any way around this?)
I really don't know much about iTunes plugins, but could they be a possible solution to this problem?
Does anyone know of one (or could anyone write one) that could help me and many others get that album art preview back?
    Thanks!
    -Nick

    Welcome to AD!
I have a regular post for the top 3 or 4 fixes for that 9808 error. Obviously you are going to skip #1, since you've already tried it. Let me know how you get on with the next 2.
The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
    1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
    2) The culprit was Norton. The users are set up as Admin and Standard. I have Parental Controls turned on in both Vista as well as Norton. Admin users had no problems connecting to iTunes. Standard users would get the error. I had to go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.) in order for the standard users to be able to connect.
    3) close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. For Mac users, there is only one file you must delete or move a to a new location and is located at User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.itunes.plist. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those two (or one) files with the default settings. Feel free to set your preferences back to what they were and then connect to the iTunes store and enjoy!
And #4, see if you can get into the iTS from a different windows admin account on the same PC.

  • Syncing Issues: album art, cut-off songs

I have a 16GB iPod Touch that I've been syncing with my Windows Vista PC, seemingly without complications. It has only recently come to my attention that somewhere between my computer's library and my library on my iPod, something is messing up at random times. Full songs will become half-songs, 30-second songs, on the iPod. They are not damaged on my PC, but when they get uploaded to the iPod, they get messed up. If I re-upload them, sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it cuts in a different spot. This is immensely frustrating, as I do not know how to fix it or what is causing it to begin with.
More recently I have discovered that all the work I have done organizing my library and getting everything to have album covers is wasted when I try to put these albums on my Touch. The album covers entirely disappear, and I have to copy and paste them in, which takes about five minutes per album (slow write speed?). Seems pretty lame to have a product focused on the ability to flip through albums visually, and then have the album art not automatically download with my music.
    Any help?

I finally have the fix for this issue after a month of extensive debugging, experimentation, etc. on Windows Vista. I've reinstalled my whole **** computer twice, and Apple's phone support is a (bad) joke. They should just send me the script they use so I can read it myself.
First off, let's establish the symptoms of this problem:
    * Data sync'ed to my iPod Touch would corrupt at random points. Sometimes songs would go through intact. Other times they would "glitch" partway through and the device would advance to the next song. Video files of a sufficient size -- like movies and T.V. episodes -- ALWAYS glitch at some point, which crashes the video playback and brings the device back to the video menu.
    * Periodically, the iPod Touch would corrupt completely, which required a total firmware restoration. Rarely, these firmware restorations would also fail.
Now for the solution. It's a two-part deal:
    1) Stop "Windows Search." It's not the major cause of sync problems, but it is a contributor, which is unsurprising given the amount of resources it hogs. Open the "Services" control panel item (Control Panel->System and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services, or just type "services.msc" into the "search" box on the Start Menu) and double-click "Windows Search." Click "stop" and set the startup type to "disabled," then click "OK."
    2) This next part is going to be a bitter pill to swallow. When Microsoft launched Vista, it created a new "security feature" called PatchGuard which disallows direct kernel access to third-party applications. Antivirus vendors like McAfee, Symantec, Avast, etc. all have to use a kernel API rather than direct kernel access. However, Microsoft's own antivirus product -- Windows Live OneCare -- has complete access to the kernel without an API.
This appears to have created a weird situation with iTunes. I have reinstalled my system twice, both with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista, and it seems that merely having a third-party antivirus product installed is sufficient to cause this problem. I've tried Avast, McAfee, Symantec and TrendMicro's products. The problem will not go away even if you turn off scanning, put in exceptions, etc. With Avast, I even terminated all of its processes and stopped its services. No dice. Just having a third-party antivirus product installed -- EVEN IF IT IS NOT RUNNING -- will cause this issue.
However, the second you UNINSTALL your third-party antivirus software, the problem goes away -- every time. I've sync'ed movies over and over again to test this, and it's definitely the primary source of the problem.
Obviously, running without antivirus software in this day and age is unacceptable, but there is one product that's free from this problem; in fact, it's the only product that still has direct kernel access. I'm running Windows Live OneCare on a 90-day trial right now, and after running more tests, I've confirmed my hypothesis. Any antivirus product with direct kernel access is fine. The problem is that Windows Live OneCare is the ONLY antivirus product right now with direct kernel access.
If you're running Windows Vista 32-bit, there may possibly be a second antivirus option. My Windows Vista-based gaming laptop uses Computer Associates' AV product, and it's never had a problem syncing with my iPod. I haven't really tested other products on it, though, so your mileage may vary. I can't say for certain that it's a safe bet.
So there you have it: one month of my nights and weekends down the toilet to fix an issue Apple and Microsoft should be handling. I feel like I've paid $500 for the privilege of being an unpaid Apple Q.A. tester. At this point, they should pay ME for the time I've wasted on this issue.

  • I dont always get my songs from itunes, how can i get the album art?

When I download a song on a place other than iTunes, the album art doesn't show. How can I get it to?

If you don't buy your music from itunes you can go to amazon.com and simply copy the artwork from their and paste it into itunes. Select the appropriate album or track within your itunes, right click and then select 'get info'then paste it into the artwork box on the right hand side!

  • I transfered videos from iPod to iTunes on Windows 7 PC but album art won't show up, even when I choose to find album art

I just installed iTunes 64 bit on my PC with Windows 7. I transfered my movies from my iPod Classic but no album art on any of them. I even try to find album art but nothing. I've downlaoded a couple of music albums onto same PC that I downloaded previously on iPad and they have art but not the videos I just transferred from iPod. I also can't play any of them on PC. I keep getting the no Quicktime message even though I downloaded QT. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, except I dont have itunes match enabled.
I synced my ipad and unchecked all my albums to remove them. Then I re-synced with the albums selected. They went back on WITH the artwork under 'artists' but then for some reason the next time I sync, some of the artwork under 'artists' is gone leaving only a music note for the cover.
It also has nothing to do with the cloud backup as I have experienced this with both backing up to the cloud and to my mac.
    strange.......

  • Itunes 12 - can't delete podcast album art in new get info dialogue

In iTunes 12, the new "Get Info" dialogue box has an album art. There is a button at the bottom to add new artwork, but I don't see a way to remove artwork (in the case of wrong or duplicate artwork).

    Hey ralf.haring,
Thanks for the question. To remove artwork from a selected item, simply select the artwork in the “Get Info” screen and tap the delete or backspace button. For more information on Artwork in iTunes 12, check out the following resource:

  • I upgraded to iTunes 5.0 and have lost album art??

Hello, I haven't been around much lately since I have not had any problems. Well, my hard drive died on this Dell and I just back up and running. Lucky for me that I have a backup system on an external hard drive.
I figured I would upgrade to iTunes 5.0 and I did. All my music is there but there are only album covers for a few of my albums. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the covers back? Is there a way to go back to 4.9??
Also,I tried to use the parental controls and when I try to lock them, it keeps telling me it doesn't recognize my name. I use the name on my iTunes store account. Shouldn't that work?
I have another question but will put it in another post.
Thanks in advance for the help,
    Mike

I can't get any album art.
I have iPod photo and all the latest updates.

  • ITunes 10.4 can't put album art

Ever since I have updated my iTunes to 10.4 on Windows, it won't let me put album art on my songs or get it from iTunes either. It just shows a white or black box. Anyone know what the problem is?

Well. My first efforts to search for a solution were poorly executed, because I tried again and found lots of answers.
The problem appears to be using a Wacom driver. See the discussion here and (same thread) here and here. No idea when that will be fixed. I use a 8 or 9 year old Graphire, and drivers have been a problem for most of those. Sigh.
But this experience also made me learn that you can right click to add selections to a playlist.
I even learned how that first column works, which I never knew before.

  • Did latest itunes update (10.6.1) now album art and video showing as white square

Friday night (30 March) had itunes update. I was adding music to my ipad at the time. Completed the update and finished transfering my music. When i opened the music app most of my album art was gon. Even art that was there before the update was now gone. I tapped on the artist and each album showed no artwork. I then went to video and all those were white boxes as well. They showed a screen shot previously. Anyone know why or better yet how to get the artwork back for music as well as video? This happened on both the original ipad and the new ipad.
