Itunes on multiple pc's

I just bought an Ipod touch. My wife will be the primary user and will use it to sync with her calendar that she keeps on a windows 7 laptop. However, I get my audio books from Audible on my windows vists desktop. The people from audible tell me that I can download my books to one pc and can then transfer to (2) mobile devices(the ipod and another non apple mp3 pla. They say their software manager can import the book to both windows media center and into itunes so I can load the books on both my mp3 players. Can I have my wifes itunes account on both pc's so that she can access my audio books on the desktop and also synch up with her calendar on the laptop pc?

My advice is to run screaming from trying to sync an itouch with 2 PCs. Any model ipod is designed to sync with only ONE machine. With click-wheel ipods you can at least put them in disk mode and copy files from a different PC than the syncing PC, but not iphones or itouch.
You could DL the audiobooks on your PC, put them on your MP3 player, and use the MP3 player to copy the file to her PC so she can add it to her itunes.

I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Most most frustrating.  Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!

iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
    Hi Redgilly (and others).
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex

    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • Music and Video on Nas in folders but how do i set up itunes on multiple computers to see and use these files and create libraries?

Music and Video on Nas in folders but how do i set up itunes on multiple computers to see and use these files and create libraries?
So i have had a itunes set up on my old PC, bought a NAS and copied the folders over to the NAS, i did this incorrectly and so then even when i told the old PC to use that folder it saw all the songs but wasnt able to play the songs as it was looking in the incorrect place.
So now i want my Mac as well as my PC and others to all use the music, videos etc on the NAS they are in itunes friendly folders (as they were compiled this way by the itunes on the old PC.
When i tell the mac to use the itunes library.itl file it sees the song list (about 100gb) but cant see any songs, so i have removed this file to another location for now with the hope to set up a new file and then get it to see the songs on the folder from the NAS.
Can someone tell me how to do this for all the Mac's and PC's on my network as i really want one master library that all use and add too.
Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Itunes on multiple computers and icloud

I have itunes 10.4.1 on my home computer and on my work computer (both on same account).  Is it possible to transfer downloads on one computer to the other using icloud?

is it possible to use icloud to sync my itunes on multiple computers (imac and macbook air)?
Yes. On both Macs open System Preferences > Store. Make sure Music is switched on.

  • As of late in iTunes wireless multiple devices drop out?

    Hello,
as of late in iTunes wireless multiple devices drop out about once a day? I have 2 airports and an Apple Tv connected which I have been using for several years with no problem.
I think this started with the latest iTunes update, but I'm not sure? Usually I have to quit iTunes and then up again, but sometimes I also restart the computer to get the devcies shown again. Are there any thoughts on that? Thanks!

what would happen if I deleted the folders?
Will the duplicates still show in iTunes?
What happens if I rename the folders something else?
Yes, the duplicates will still show in iTunes, but, as the directory has changed, iTunes will lose contact, and therefore show those files with an exclamation point.
Although, if you had "copy into library folder" checked, the duplicates will remain untouched, as they already are in the central location, where iTunes is told to store the music.
If this isn't the case, you can use this behaviour to get rid of the duplicates:
Once you renamed/deleted the folders with the duplicates, open iTunes. All the duplicates in question should now show with the said exclamation point next to them.
The next step would be to highlight the entire library manipulate an info, that is usually not needed. (I suggest using the BPM- field, enter "BPM: 96" f.e.)
Changes will not apply for lost track, therefore you can sort the library by BPM (or the info of your choice) and remove all tracks with an empty field in that collumn in one shot.
    Hope that helps

  • ITunes 11 - multiple open windows not possible?

I usually run iTunes with multiple windows open (double click the playlists and they open as new windows).  At any given time I have 3 or 4 playlists open.
... doesn't seem to work any longer, am I overlooking something?

It took me a while, but I finally came up with a solution for this! It's not a perfect one for everybody (since you have to make hotkeys) but it works great if you use something like Alfred or Quicksilver to control iTunes already.
Basically, I wrote an AppleScript that detects if Repeat One is on. If it is, then the script very quickly disables it, skips to the next track, and turns it back on. Skipping then works just like it did with iTunes 10 and iDevices.
I put the scripts up for download here: iTunes 11: Restore track skipping with Repeat One turned on (OSX)
    Hope this helps some people.

  • Backup itunes onto multiple DVDs

I am wanting to backup my itunes to multiple DVDs and not sure how to do it. I have copied all of the files to a 'burn file', and have tried to start burning...but am told that all of the files need to fit on 1 DVD. Surely there is a way to burn onto multiple DVDs? I will need about 4.
If this isn't an option, what are some other suggestions about backing up my music. I don't want to regret not backing up later!!
    thanks!

This isn't really the forum to post this in, as 'Feedback about DIscussions' means posts related to the Apple Discussions Forums, eg 'why can't I log in on Mondays?' 'this poster is shouting at me' etc.
Are you a member of .mac? If so you could use the iLife plan (or create a new iTunes plan) to backup your music across multiple DVDs.

  • ITunes to multiple base stations

What's the chance that one can broadcast iTunes to multiple base stations concurrently - if not now in some future release?

If you're talking about AirTunes, you can do this right now. Just make sure your AirPort Express base stations are updated to version 6.3 of the AirPort Express firmware, and use a recent version of iTunes. You can stream to multiple AirPort Express base stations simultaneously, and also play through your computer speakers too. Pretty cool.

  • Does iTunes allow multiple devices (iPod nano) to share one account?

Does iTunes allow multiple devices (iPod nano) to share one account?

Yes, Apple are keen for you to buy as many of their devices as your pocket will support.
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • One computer, one iTunes account, multiple devices and iCloud accounts, help!

We have a family MacBook and have always held a single iTunes account. We have multiple devices (iTunes Match has proved to be very useful). We have 2 x iCloud accounts. This causes an issue in terms of synchronisation. Is it possible to synch calendars and photos? As mentioned, the music is no longer an issue with iTunes match. Is there a way that we can synch calendars and photos without having to use a single iCloud account? In addition, the only reason we have separate iCloud accounts is for email. Can I keep my mobile.me email without an iCloud account?

I personally would recommend to use different iCloud account for your own stuff like email, calendars, reminders etc. If you want to have a calendar for your family then just share it via your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Yes, you could keep you me,com email address but it should be migrated to icloud because MobileMe was shut down.

  • One itunes account multiple devices in family - help

I have one itunes account but multiple devices used by the family and I am having conflicts with sharing and face time, imessage etc.
    Listed devices
Me - iphone 5, Ipad mini, Apple Tv, Macbook Pro 13" (just purchased)
    Wife - iphone 5, ipad
Daughter - iphone 4, ipad mini
    Son - iphone 4
    Son - ipad
At the moment we all use one itunes account (mine) we all have our own email adresses etc.
I have itunes U which can be accessed.
The problem is everyone wants to use face time and imessage etc but I keep having conflicts with the devices sharing eachothers messages etc. Plus not eveyone wants to share photos etc so how do you manage that across mulitple devices.
Is it a set up issue or is it easier for everyone to have their own accounts.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You could simply ensure that only the numbers and addresses you wish to use on each device are checked at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. However this isn’t an ideal solution because the other person can always change these settings from their device and have some fun with you and your contacts.
You’d be far better getting them to delete your account from their device and have them create one of their own. If you are sharing an ID for some other service such as iTunes, you can continue to do so, you only need change the ID for messages.

  • Itunes for multiple family members

My situation is I've been using iTunes since its inception and built quite a library. I've been through multiple ipods and now on to iphones for multiple family members. All the while using one itunes account on separate devices for multiple family members. Now that we have iphones its become necessary to create separate icloud accounts for each family member. This creates a problem for those with new icloud accounts. The iTunes music library can no longer be shared on separate devices (that I know of). The music library and playlists I have built over years cannot be shared with those devices that now have separate icloud accounts. I am aware of "family sharing" and have set that up going forward but how do I resolve the issue of all the music and playlists that were shared when we all used one itunes account, prior to creating separate icloud accounts? I hope this makes sense. For example my wife and son no longer have access to any of the music/playlists on their iphones that they used to have prior to creating their own accounts. Even though all purchases made before and after creating separate icloud accounts were made using the same credit card.
I believe I could just go back to having the other devices sign back into my itunes account and I think that may resolve the issue but what happens to purchases that were made on the other devices while they were signed into their own accounts? Another point that comes up is that we all have gift card balances on each itunes account. This is so confusing

This is great news as I've been struggling with this issue for some time. Mainly because my wife is a little old school and likes to put music on CD's and this solves that problem. Thanks again!!

  • Problem with iTunes and multiple user accounts in Windows

I am running iTunes on a PC (Windows XP) and have multiple user accounts. When I switch between user accounts and try to open iTunes, I get a message that tells me I can't open the program because another user is using it. Is it really true that I can only have iTunes open in one user account at a time on a PC with multiple user accounts ?!? If not, what am I doing wrong?

You are right, can only have one open. You have to log out of a user before logging in to another user to use iTunes. Do not use the fast user switching ability of Windows.

  • Itunes store multiple gift cards on one account

Using one store account for multiple iPods and users, and having different iTunes gift cards to redeem per user, when entering the card info using Redeem function, does the store account list the distinct gift cards to select when making a purchase or automatically charge the cc on file? Bottom line, want to be able to make purchases and select the CC or gift card to charge against.
    Thanks

does the store account list the distinct gift cards to select when making a purchase or automatically charge the cc on file?
    No.
It charges gift cards first, then from CC.
If you have different users, they should create their own iTunes account and add their gift cads to their own account.
