ITunes on my iphone no longer connects to my airport express

My macbook air (OS10.8.5) connects to the airport express without any problems. My iphone 4S (OS8.1) has lost the connection. No idea with which update, i just noticed. All three are on the same WIFI network. I turned the airport and iphone off and on a few times. What else could I try?
Thanks!

  • ITunes can no longer connect to my Airport Express, which is connected to a Bose Wave unit.

Hi, This started about a month ago. iTunes still shows Airport Express as an option in the drop-down, but when I try to connect it searches and searches and doesn't connect. Airport Express is functioning for networking and Internet access purposes. Bose Wave unit is also (independently) working fine. They just don't seem to talk to each other anymore.
What happened? How can I fix this?

I assume you mean I need to connect the Airport to the modem using an ethernet cable?
    Yes.

Because trying to do it wirelessly is not working...
That's normal.  If you want to "extend" a network, an Airport can extend only a WiFi created by another Airport, not a non-Apple device.  The only wireless connection that you can make to the Motorola WiFi is a "join" for the purpose of providing an AirPlay connection.

  • IPhone no longer connects to my AirPort Extreme wifi

    So I looked around...
I waited for ios6 for a potential fix on this...
I still can't connect to my home Wifi from my iphone4
    Set up:
    AIrport extreme as main router
    Extended with an airport express
    What have I tried...
    Well starting with the easiest
    Restored the phone from factory
    Reset network
    Forget network, start again
    Airplane mode
    Extreme settings
    Turned off security, still nothing
Changed the channels from automatic to manual
    Turned on 5ghz
From wap 2 personnel to other
    Turned off the express
Tried various combinations of network type, n, g etc...
    I am out of ideas....
It the house we have a Mac Pro, a pc, 2 iPads, and an iPhone 4S. All are good
Just that iPhone 4. Started 3 weeks ago
    ARGH!!!!!!!!!

not much response in here which surprises me...
Anyway... AS I am still looking for answers, I will share a couple of points that I realised...
in Airport Utility, I noticed that my iphone MAC address was actually showing as client connected, despite my phone network showing the spinning wheel next to the network name for ever and never actually connecting.
I am currently testing the router mode in Network to be on DHCP and NAT mode with a range from .2 to .200
    My phone is now connected....
Everything seems to be ok and happy so far...
strange that this router and phone have worked together for at least a couple of years, the phone works everywhere else, and all other toys connect to my WIFI just fine. the list is as follow:
    airport extreme
    Zeppelin air
    2x apple tv
    2 ipads
    iphone 4s
    2 mac
    1 pc
I have litterally just hard reset the router with a pin just now as a last resort... same...
I will leave the router as DHCP & NAT until a potential firmware or OS update...

  • Itunes 10 and Airplay no longer works with my Airport Express

As soon as I installed the update, my Airport Express (802.11g I think) has stopped working. You can JUST hear a faint audio signal if you turn the amp up full. Any ideas gratefully received.

I noticed this too and think it's by design. The new master volume slider in the AirPlay window is set at the highest volume in your list of speakers. Drag either the master volume or your external speaker slider to max, and you should get normal volumes out of your Airport Express speakers.
Unfortunately, the volume slider on the iTunes window seems to be the master volume now, rather than just the volume for the computer. So if you mute the computer using that slider, you mute all speakers. To mute just the computer, you have to do it though the AirPlay speaker list now. Unless I'm missing a preference setting somewhere... thought there used to be something in iTunes or Airport Utility that let you toggle this behavior, but I don't see anything now...

  • I recently installed itunes update and can no longer connect to network nor internet

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.
    Good luck!

  • Video cameras no longer connecting to Final Cut Express

I have two video cameras (Sony TRV-25 and Sony HDV-A1U) which are no longer connecting to Final Cut Express through the firewire (4-pin to 800). I get the "unable to initialize" message. What's weird is that they were working fine just last month.
I'm on a relative new iMac, running 10.6, FCE 4.
I've double and triple-checked the settings on the cameras (i.e., HDV and iLink output settings), and I've selected the appropriate settings in Easy Setup in FCE (1060i60 for the HDV, NTSC-DV for the TRV).
I also reset video devices under the View menu.
Just for kicks, I tried connecting the TRV-25 to my old Mac. I had no problems at all. [The old Mac won't work with the HDV camera, so I didn't bother trying that.]
There are no other firewire devices connected to the Mac. There is an external drive that I use for capturing the video files that is attached through one of the USB ports.
I went and bought another firewire cable just to make sure, but got the same results.
For what it's worth, I also could not get the cameras to be recognized in iMovie.
Is there anything else I should try?
    Thanks!

When I looked in System Profiler and click on the firewire line, it just said something about maximum speed 800 MB per second or whatever. Should it actually have the camera listed there? Is that the right way to check?
The firewire is 4-pin (iLink) to 800, and there are no other devices connected.

I am trying to sync Go Rock TRMS03SR Bluetooth Portable 3D Surround Speakers with my Airport Express or iTunes So I can play Music in Multiple rooms. I have a WiFi network, my living room speakers are connected directly to Airport Express, so how can I get the wireless bluetooth speakers to play at the same time in my bedroom?

Did you ever get this to work?  My guess is that the speakers are out of bluetooth range at that distance.

  • Can I use my HP D4360 to AirPrint from my iPhone if it's connected to and AirPort Express?

I'm trying to figure out if I can print from my iphone 4 to my HP D4360 using AirPrint. The HP is connected to an AirPort Express (2nd Gen). The iPhone says there are no AirPrint printers connected. Can this be done?

Unfortunately, connecting the printer to the AirPort Express will not help if the printer is not AirPrint compatible.
You might want to check out HP's new ePrint feature......HP ePrint | HP.com
Or, if you have a Mac on the network, you can try an App like Printopia.  There is a free trial, so you will know in 5 minutes whether it will work or not.

  • ITunes 10.4 "Network Error" when Airplaying to an Airport Express

When I try selecting my Airport Express as the AirPlay destination in iTunes 10.4, I get the error message:
An error occured while connecting to the AirPlay device "XXXXX". The network connection failed.
I am able to connect to the Airport Express using Airport Utility. I can stream to the Airport Express using my iPhone. Only iTunes has the problem. iTunes can stream to an AppleTV with no problems.
    Configuration:
    Lion
    iTunes 10.4
Airport Express/g with 6.3 firmware (tried wired and wireless configuration)
Main router is an Airport Extreme 1Gb ethernet

Same here. The funny thing is, I also have Airfoil that works fine -- I set the input as System Audio and it plays through the Airport Express just fine, so the "network" is working just fine, it is iTunes that seems to have the problem.

  • AirPort Express - Can not connect to "extended" AirPort Express

Two trips to the Genius Bar tell me that I should be able to Extend my network from a new AirPort Express (n/g/b) to an older AirPort Express (b/g) using the "extend network feature". The two devices are communicating (both lights are green and the wireless channel will change on the remote device if I change it at the base station), but my MBP Core Duo 15" seems to only be connecting to the AirPort Express Base Station (n/g/b) and not to the Remote "extended" AirPort Express (b/g).
This forum seems to indicate that you can only use WDS between the newer AEX (n) and the older AEX (b/g) but the folks at the Apple Store have told me twice now not to use WDS. They said that as long as the two devices have green lights that it is working, but when I click on the Airport Symbol up in the menu bar w/the Option key it tells me the MAC address of the base station only - and when I get very far from the base station, the signal drops out even though the remote AEX is near by.
I did try setting it up using WDS and that works fine, just very slow.
Anyone know if there's a way to be sure that my MBP connects to the remote (extended) AirPort Express?

This forum seems to indicate that you can only use WDS between the newer AEX (n) and the older AEX (b/g)
This is correct....since the older b/g Express does not even have a setting to "extend a wireless network".
If you require confirmation, open AirPort Utility, select the b/g Express, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Now look at the available settings for Wireless Mode.
"Extend a wireless network" is not there.
but the folks at the Apple Store have told me twice now not to use WDS.
They are likely telling you not to use it because the performance on your network will drop dramatically if you do use WDS. Or, they mean well, but they are just wrong on this subject. Here's why:
The only way that you can use an older "g" and newer "n" device together to provide more wireless coverage is to configure both devices for WDS. It's a Catch 22.
WDS operates only at "g" wireless levels. So when you configure the newer "n" Express to operate as part of the WDS (which you must), it becomes a "g" wireless device. You lose any "n" capability on the network
Worse still, every "remote" or "relay" in a WDS setup cuts the bandwidth of the entire network in half...50%. That's huge. In effect, with WDS, you may have a bit more wireless coverage, but you will have a "g" wireless network that operates at half speed.
but when I click on the Airport Symbol w/the Option key it tells me the MAC address of the base station only - and when I get very far from the base station, the signal drops out even though the remote AEX is near by.
The remote AX is not providing any additional wireless coverage.
They said that as long as the two devices have green lights that it is working
Nope, as you can tell by the fact that your "remote" is not providing any additonal wireless coverage.
Anyone know if there's a way to be sure that my MBP connects to the remote (extended) AirPort Express?
Your only option, (unless you add more hardware):
Configure both AX devices to "Participate in a WDS network" setting one up as a "main" and the other a "remote" . The big downside, as mentioned previously,  is that you will have a "g" wireless network running at half speed.

  • Connection dropped to Airport Express

    Hi,
I'm running MacBook Pro connected to the Airport Express. I do lose the connection to the Airport Express every once in awhile. The Mac shows full connection in the menu bar, but no traffic goes through.
I can restore the connection by rebooting or using "ifconfig en1 down; ifconfig en1 up" commands. I'd like to hear if anyone is experiencing similar behavior and what might be causing it. The only visible clue comes from system.log which is full of error messages from athrxproc (Airpot driver?).
    Any help would be appreciated.

I bought I new AE a week ago. I bough it to extend the wireless area of my house. I currently have an AX base station that was working perfectly with my Apple TV, but since I couln't cover the whole area of my house (for internet purposes with my Powerbook), I decided that the AE was the perfect solution for me. Setting the whole thing was tricky but finally got it to work... or so I thought. It is very weird that when there's no internet traffic, the AE just dissapears from the Airport Utility on my main computer (Mac Pro). If I use the Powerbook near the area where the AE is installed, then I can see it on the Power book's Airport Utility, but no internet connection whatsoever. I have to reset the AE from within the application and it restablishes connection. Quiet annoying because I have to do this everytime I want to use my Powerbook to surf the net. the Apple tv was first connected to the base station, flawlesly, when I got the AE to extend the network I also re-configured APple tv to use the extended network, but since the connection was dropped every time, then the APple tv would dissapear from iTunes. I had to go back and configure the Apple TV to the main station (signal is not as strong but at least is connected all the time, so my problem is the Airport Express, no doubt!
I have read many articles here, seems like a lot of people expreiencing the same.
    Any hope?

  • How to connect a 2nd airport express in a home network?

I'm triying to connect a second airport express in my home network but when I plug in and go to Airpot Utility says :
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information."
I don't know what to do to get connect the second airport exprees?, Do I miss something ?

You need AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure that model Express. The problem with that version is that Mountain Lion will refuse to let you install it.
This dilemma is easily solved. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.
