ITunes on my My MacBook and My PC (with Windows Media Player)

I am at the horns of dilemma.
I have hundreds of songs from my CDs in Windows Media Player on my PC. I really don't want to have to email each of them to myself and open them on my MacBook so they will move to iTunes and then sync them to my iPhone. So I just installed iTunes on my PC.
iTunes is now running on my PC and converting the files.
How do I get those songs from my PC iTunes to my MacBook Itunes?

No, you only get one download from Apple. They don't store your music library on their servers.
You need to get the files on both PCs, and add them into the itunes library window.

To no avail, my ipod is not recognized in iTunes... however it is by my computer, and my Windows Media Player will sync to it...
I have tried to Reset, Restore, Reinstall... all of that, but nothing has worked. I have Vista, anyone have any ideas? I would much rather use iTunes, so I can download some games, and such... but I CAN work around with Windows Media Player using mp3 files... no album art

have you ever found a solution to your problem? I would like to know, because I'm having the same issues with my Nano. If so, help me Please......

  • How can I consolidate my itunes music with Windows Media Player?

How can I consolidate my itunes music with Windows Media Player?

Ah, did you move your media files by hand? Often doing so will have broken the links from iTunes to them.
The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to Get Info, then click No when asked to try to locate the track. (Due to a bug in iTunes 12 you currently have to say No twice!) Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, a folder renamed, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. If the difference between the two paths is an additional Music folder in one path then this is a layout issue. I can explain further if that is the case.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info but this time click Locate and browse to the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

  • Audigy ls and no sound with Windows media playe

I have an audigy ls and can play music with winamp, and dvd's with power dvd. However, when i receive audio/video clips via email, i am not able to get audio when i play the clips with windows media player 9. The video works fine. the trouble shooter tells me taht there is no hard ware installed or the device is being used by another program or the device is not functioning properly. i get error codes 0xC00DBA: Cannot play the file and Condition ID = 0x00000000. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you, Sid

    Thanks Jeremy,
However, when i try to play MP3's that i can play on winamp, I receive the same error messages as I mentioned above. I know that the MP3's are good... I can play them on winamp without problems. And I've been able to convert them ot WAV files and burned them on CD-R's and they ahve worked fine. the problems seems to be between media player and the sound card/drivers.

  • I can't play movie downloads.  I've tried opening them with Windows Media Player, i-tunes, and Quick time but they don't work.

I can't play i-tunes downloaded movies.  I've tried opening them with Windows Media Player, i-tunes, and quick time.  Nothing works.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • WHY can't I get iTunes to import cd's that I put on Windows Media Player?

I loaded about 100 cd's onto Windows Media Player prior to receiving my Nano. When I try to put them in my iTunes library, it gives me an error message about "protected WMA format" and iTunes only being able to convert unprotected WMA song AND advising me to use the cd. What?? I cannot re-load every cd -- that took hours and hours in the first place! HELP!

Unfortunately it sounds as though you ripped your CDs in WMA format with the copy protect box checked.
This means that your WMA files are copy protected and there is no way out of this in WMP except to re-rip your CDs.
Since you own the CDs, it may be possibe to find third party software that can help you to remove the copy protection with Google, but I can't help you with that.

  • Will iTunes transfer a digital copy of a movie in Windows Media Player?

I have a digital copy of a movie that I want to put on my Kindle Fire and on my iPhone & iPod.   If I put the digital copy in Windows Media Player will iTunes make a copy in iTunes too?
Thanks for any help. I've done searches but can't find the info.
    Merry Christmas,
    LadyLaurent

Is there anyone who knows the answer to this??  I really need to get these digital copies done because we are traveling tomorrow and I need these for my kids.
Thanks for any quick help I can get,

  • ITunes asking for apple ID when importing tracks from Windows Media Player

I have a friend who is a new radio DJ. I have convinced her that iTunes would be better to play her tracks from than WMP. What has happened is that iTunes has imported all of her tracks and albums from WMP but it is asking for her Apple ID for every track she tries to play.
Most of these tracks were imported into WMP from CD so why is iTunes asking for the Apple ID? How do I resolve this for her?

Are these songs MP3's or WMA files? What is the source of those songs? Did you rip from CDs into Windows Media Player? If you did then they shouldn't be protected files. iTunes will now have to convert them to an iTunes compatible file (MP3/AAC)
    I only use MP3.

  • Problems with Windows Media Player for OSX and IMAC G5 Intel Duo

I was able to download Windows Media Player 9 for Mac but when I surf on the net and I click on the WMP files, instead of opening automatically, it downloads the content and only then lets me open it.
Also, with live streaming, when I click for the window to open it will say that: "Some content on this page requires an Internet plug-in that Safari doesn’t support. The application “Windows Media Player” may be able to display this content. Would you like to try?".
Except that I already downladed WMP... It worked fine with the PowerPc G5 so it must be the Intel chip. Please help.

Microsoft has abandoned WMP for the Mac and has ceased development. You may wish to consider and alternative!
WMP 9 for Mac is not a Universal binary, so it does not run natively on Intel iMacs. It runs using Rosetta. If the WMP plugin is installed in HD/Library/Internet Plugins/ for it to run usable by Safari you must be using Safari with Rosetta.
    I have two versions of Safari, Safari - Uni & Safari - Rose, Uni runs natively and Rose uses Rosetta. To make a Rose version;
    1. Right-click Safari and choose Duplicate
    2. Rename the copy whatever you like to tell it from the other; ex: Safari - Rose
    3. Right-click Safari - Rose and choose Get Info
    4. In the top pane of the Info window check the box Run using Rosetta.
You need to use Safari -Rose for websites with WMP multimedia material to get it to play in the browser.
    There are also WMP replacements that you can use with Safari such as Flip4Mac and others. Here is a Discussion that covers many of the alternatives;

  • Does itunes conflict with windows media player?

I am having trouble syncing and ejecting my shuffles from i-Tunes if I have Windows Media Center running?  I use Media Center to run a TV tuner but I use i-tunes for all of my other media.  I have also found the tuner becomes inaccessable if I have watched a DVD which runs on WMC.  I'm wondering if I have to modify the defaults for the program associations...

select a .wmv file and enter command+i. in the resulting popup go to "open with" section, select the default application you want (not a Windows Media player for Mac which is extinct) to use and click "change all". see if it sticks now.

  • I use to be able to click on a link in a website to watch a video and it would launch windows media player. I have installed the plugin but it still will not launch

Windows Media player will not launch from a video link within a website. it worked until I installed FF4. I did install the plug in but still nothing it just goes to a black then blank page when you try to launch the video.
    Ideas?

At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply. For 10.5/10.6 Network, highlight Interface>Advanced button>DNS tab>little + icon.
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers.
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
    10.5.x/10.6.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

  • I just ripped over 750 movies and they all play and sound great on Windows media player.  Some work on AppleTV and others have no sound.  The Audio is dolby 5.1 and yes I disabled the Dolby on the AppleTV.  Still no sound.  What up That?

iTunes has no sound for the movies too.  It is obviously an Apple issue since they ALL play just fine on the Windows Media Player.

Encoding you say.  I noticed that all the movies without sound are listed in 'Home Video' section of iTunes.  The process used to digitize the movies was identical for all the movies.  Is there a way to identify the encoding problem?  I have redone a movie several times, setting the audio to different levels.  When I set it to Stereo the sound came through, but choppy.

  • Media Playback With Windows Media Player and Quicktime

I just bought a mac book. Is there any way to have quicktime not the default player or to have it bring out the video from the safari window. because there are some sites that i go to and it just starts playing quicktime inside the browser video but i want it big in its own window. and is there anyway to just have the video play without the download box come up and just have the video play in whatever player without manually going to the hard drive and choosing which program to open the video with? thank you for any help
    MacBook 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Microsoft AVI with codec set to None.
Or you can install the free Lagarith or UT codecs.  Both work very nice with PP.  Both use lossless compression, so you won't lose any quality, but will get smaller files (especially when using a YUV mode).

  • Problems with Windows Media Player and flash

It seems that since I've installed Itunes, whenever I try to play a video on a website, it will only go 3 seconds and then pause. This happens on streaming videos as well as things that are on YouTube and the like.
Do you think it's related? Any ideas?
Also, it seems that sound is now disabled when I try to play audio off of those clips too. I do most of my browsing with Mozilla, but it appears to do the same in Explorer.
Do I need to update drivers or something?
