My new laptop won't won't recognize my iphone 4s.  The iphone is only abt a month old.  My old computer crashed and I went through the steps of deauthorizing all computers and authorizing the newest one again.  However, itunes still won't recognize the iphone!  I don't know what else to do.  I also have the icloud and imatch set up for the iphone.  And auto downloads of new purchases.  This part does work on the new computer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I just upgraded software through iTunes then unplugged iPhone now it is stuck on the connect to intunes screen, it won't turn off and iTunes and my computer won't recognize my phone? Please help

My phone is doing the same thing. My computer acknowledges that I have connected my iPhone 4, however, iTunes will no longer connect or sync to my iPhone 4. I have uninstalled iTunes, Bonjour and all Apple products from my pc. I have re-installed them back on. I have reset my phone. I have emptied my temp folder. I have done everything. If my iPhone cannot update and sync with iTunes then I may as well get another phone from somewhere else. I am disappointed that I cannot resolve this issue.
Rebeccaspe31, were you able to resolve your issue? If so how?

  • My new computer won't recognize my printer (HP4500 Officejet Wireless) in the wireless or wired mode

MY new computer won't recognize my printer in either the connected or wireless mode.  When I hit "search for printers" it finds my neighbors wireless printer 100 yards away, and another net, but not mine sitting right beside it.

    Hi,
Have you installed its software abd drivers on your computer yet ? Please use the CD which came with the printer. By the way, what is your Officejet 4500 ? It must be G510something.
    Regards.

  • New computer doesn't recognize iphone in itunes?

My new computer does not recognize my iphone in itunes?

What I had to do with my windows 8 upgrade was:
Completely uninstall iTunes, Quicktime, bonjour, iCloud....everything that had anything to do with Apple. Then got on the internet and re-downloaded it all. Really it didn't take that long.
It did NOT work to download and "repair" the program. (that's what I tried first)

  • Computer won't recognize iPhone camera

I used to have an original iPhone and I used to be able to import my camera roll. It randomly stopped working after a couple of months. I now have a 3GS and it still won't work. I have a Dell Inspiron running Vista. iTunes will still recognize my phone, but my computer won't recognize my phone or the camera. Any ideas about what happened or how I can import pictures again?

In my case, the computer stopped showing images that were on the iphone and only showed blank squares.
You might try this. Open the Image Capture application on your Mac. Open the menu item, Devices > Browse Devices.... If there is a Local Device called Digital Camera rather than the name of your iPhone, see if there is a Connected box that is not checked. Check it and you may find that the device will change to the name of your iPhone and things may begin to work.
If it is checked, you might try unchecking and then rechecking the box.
If your iPhone doesn't show up in the Local Device list, this might point toward the problem. Call iPhone support.

  • Updated to iTunes 10.1 and Now Computer Won't Recognize iPhone

I updated to iTunes 10.1 last night after I plugged in my phone and iTunes prompted me to. After doing so, I restarted my computer, plugged my phone back in, and now I get the message "USB Device Not Recognized" and my phone doesn't show up in iTunes. It does, however, charge while plugged in. The computer just doesnt' recognize it. I've followed the Apple page on what to do if there are driver issues. So I've uninstalled iTunes and all the other components, reinstalled, opened Device Manager and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver from there, have tried to update, but when I do, the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers folder does not exist.
I am running Windows 7, and I have an iPhone 3Gs running iOS4.1.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm out of ideas.

Well, I figured it out. My sync cable was the problem, apparently. I just used a different sync cable and it magically downloaded the driver with no problem and itunes popped right up. Figures, eh?

  • Old computer crashed; loaded iTunes to new computer, won't sync my iPod

The computer I initially set up my 60g iPod video crashed (windows based). I loaded iTunes on my new computer (also windows based) and even entered my iPod serial number. When I plug it into the USB port, iTunes recognizes the iPod (with my name) and even shows all the songs and videos on the screen, but they are in faded gray and I can't highlight them or upload them into iTunes. When the iPod is first plugged in, I get the message about the iPod being authorized on another computer and can set it up on the new one, but then it would remove the entire contents and update with the new library which has nothing in it.
Is there any way to upload my iPod contents into the newly loaded iTunes on my new computer? I got an iTouch for X-Mas and I am hoping that when I load that software, it will recognize my older iPod's music library and upload it. Of course, this won't matter if I can't get my old stuff into me new iTunes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • My computer won't recognize iphone 4?

Just got a new iphone 4 and it won't show up on my computer. I'm pretty sure it's not the phone because I plugged in my friend's iphone 4 and it didn't show up either, even though a couple weeks ago it did. I don't know what it is because other plugs work in my USB port and even when i plug the phone in it makes the noise that the computer makes when something's plugged in. I've tried restarting my phone, computer, uninstalling & reinstalling itunes and still nothing works. Please help!!!

I've had the same problem since I upgraded and I FINALLY found the answer that worked
if you're operating on windows go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en- us&s=apple&page=2&type=Hardware  and download Apple iPhone 4
then go to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL926 and download.  After nearly a week of my computer not seeing the Iphone and itunes not seeing it either it FINALLY WORKS!!

  • ITunes library saved on external hard drive. iTunes on new computer does not recognize.

Hi, My entire iTunes library (roughly 100gb for iPod Classic) has been saved to an external hard drive. I just built a new computer (Windows 7), and loaded the latest version of iTunes. I have changed the library location in Preferences on both the General tab and the Advanced tab to reflect the location on the external hard drive. The new library location has been saved, but the music on the external hard drive still does not show up in my iTunes library. The only things that show up in my iTunes library are only a few items that have apparently been saved to iCloud (although I never set up an iCloud account - nor do I want one). How do I get iTunes to recognize the external hard drive library instead of the other? Thank you.

Thanks. Realized something though...on the old computer, Windows XP had a problem (R6034) that prevented iTunes from opening or upgrading.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

How do you synch everything from your Iphone to the the new computer with the newly dowloaded Itunes?

  • Library Issue:  Existing External Drive - New Computer Won't Recognize

    Hi,
I've had an external drive library for quite some time. I just bought a new laptop, downloaded iTunes, pointed it to F:\Music where my library is and it won't recognize the files. There are a handful of songs that come with iTunes, so I did a Consolidate to see what would happen. They are visible and available from my F: drive but none of my "original" files. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Unless I am missing something, this is a real pain the tukus. I moved all of my mp3's to an external hard drive to free up space in my c drive. My Itunes cannot find it. Do I really have to move items into Itunes folder by folder??? Is there not a search for "music files" which moves it into the itunes folder, wherever that may be? I see references where the site seems to say that the physical file doesn't need to be in the Itunes folder but only references it. I have a ton of folders. Each individually??? I have moved compied pasted and created som many folders that say I tunes, I think I must have triplicates of all files. This is a mess. Why can't I get Itunes/Ipod to find the folder where I want my files to reside-off my C drive?

  • New Computer Won't Recognize my IPOD

I have an IPOD mini and just got a new computer. When I plug it in, the computer says "usb device not recognized". When I look it up it says that there is no driver for the device. It still works fine on my old machine (a slower usb 1.1).

You may want to try these steps, Jacob, after you've installed and run the iPod Updater and your computer still won't recognize the iPod:
First, make hidden folders visible. Open My Computer and choose Tools/Folder Options/View tab. Click on 'Show hidden files and folders' and click OK.
In the Add New Hardware Wizard, have it search in C:\windows\inf for usbstor.inf. This file is required for windows to properly configure the driver. If Windows finds the driver there, you're done.
If Windows does not find the proper driver there, copy usbstor.sys from C:\windows\servicepack\i386 to C:\windows\system32\drivers.
If you can't find the usbstor.inf file on your system, you can get it here: usbstor.inf
After copying the usbstor.inf driver file to C:\Windows\inf, right-click on My Computer and choose ‘Manage.'
Click on the button labeled 'Device Manager.'
Click to open the list under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers.'
Right click on any mass storage devices with the exclamation icon next to them and select 'Update Driver.'
Check the option 'Install from a list or a specific location' and then click to continue.
Check next to 'Include this location in the search' and enter 'C:\windows\inf'.
Click on 'Next' and follow the steps to complete the driver installation wizard.
