ITunes on new Mac mini not recognizing my 1st gen iPod

I just got a new Mac mini. It has iTunes v6.0.4. My 1st generation iPod is v1.5. When I buy a song and attempt to transfer it from the 'Purchased' folder to my iPod, I'm getting an error message that says, 'Some of the songs in the iTunes music Library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer.' Do I need to plug my iPod into the computer I was using before and click on 'Deauthorize Computer' before I try to use this one?

  • ITunes on new Mac Mini does not show shared libraries on network or songs on NAS drive

iTunes on new Mac Mini does not show shared libraries on network or songs on NAS drive
The latest version of iTunes on a 3-month old Mac Mini (8 gig RAM, OS 10.10.2) does not see any of the shared iTunes libraries on a  MacBookPro (MBP) (OS 10.9.5) and a 14-month old Mac Mini (OS 10.9.5). And a network shared drive/media server does not appear as well. I have a Gigabite Ethernet G4 and on it, the MPB and the "old" mini I can see the various shared music libraries and NAS, but not on the new Mini.
The little house with a music note inside it that I see on the upper left corner of the iTunes 12.1 window on my MBP does not appear on iTunes 12.1 on the new Mac Mini. I have gone through all the iTunes preferences and can not find where I can turn on this feature. The new Mac Mini is on the local network and I can reach the internet successfully.
I have been using iTunes since its beginning (still have a PowerTower Pro with a working copy of SoundJam), so I am not a newbie, but this has me baffled.

May I add, that I gave full rights to the user at the Mac Mini to access and change data on the server drive for ITunes Media.

  • Apple TV - iTunes Home Sharing - Mac mini - Not Working!!!

Hi everyone, I am in urgent need of help here!
I use the latest Mac mini to hold my iTunes Library to stream it over to my Apple TV with Home Sharing; however, there is a problem - it doesn't work anymore!
If I use my iMac or MacBook Pro, the Home Sharing works great to the Apple TV, without a single problem. For the past week and a half now though, my Mac mini just doesn't want to stream anything over, despite still appearing under the "Computers" column on the home screen of the Apple TV interface.
When I select my Mac mini, I get this seemingly endless loading screen:
    http://goo.gl/s0Qg1
When that loading screen does end though, I get this:
    http://goo.gl/xj3eY
It says "Could not connect to the Mac mini Library - Make sure your computer has iTunes open, and that it's on the same network as Apple TV."
I always verify that my iTunes is open on the Mac mini and that both the Mac mini and Apple TV are on the same network, and still nothing works.
Is there just some kind of issue with streaming the iTunes Library to the Apple TV via Home Sharing that I'm missing? There shouldn't be, but it's a very consistant problem that has come and gone away at random times, but now it seems to be a permanent and upsetting problem.
If anyone can help me on this matter, please send your helpful words because I would like to fix this problem and not deem my Mac mini as a waste of money. I actually bought the Mac mini for the purpose of streaming my iTunes Library, rather than to bog down my iMac with lag and memory being chewed up, because I need it being fast for my work.
    Thank you!

I've got the same problem. Bought a second Apple TV2 a couple of weeks ago and set it up to work with both my iMac and MBP - no problems. Both Apple TV's worked perfectly from both computers until... after a long night at work, the newest one decided to display a message telling me an update was available. Yes, you guessed it! I updated!
Now, although this new Apple Tv displays the libraries from both machines, I get the messages in the original post when I try to access my iMac account - no problem though with my MBP account. Both machines have the up-to-date versions of iTunes. Thank goodness I did not update the older Apple TV2 box!
I echo the sentiments of all the other posts - it is about time Apple pulled their finger out and sorted this mess.
I wonder how many other people have the same problem?

  • Mac Mini not recognizing USB optical drive - when Windows 7 in the drive

This is a really strange situation. I purchased a DVD writer in order to install Windows 7 on my Mac Mini (the SuperDrive stopped functioning some time ago). I've been able to boot from this optical drive to install Snow Leopard, but the Win7 disk isn't recognized when I try to boot from it (just get the folder with the "?"). Holding down "Alt" just shows me the Macintosh HD. I've tried multiple DVDs, including a genuine MSFT printed one with no success. I've attached this same drive to my Lenovo laptop and it booted to Windows 7 setup without a problem.
    So, to sum up:
    The Samsung DVD writer:
    * boots up Snow Leopard on the Mac Mini
    * boots up Windows 7 on the Lenovo laptop
    * fails to boot Windows 7 on the Mac Mini
The Samsung model is Super WriteMaster Slim External DVD Writer, SE-S084
Any help would of course be greatly appreciated. Chocolate is possible for a really good answer.
    - Hop

    Hello hoppingboy,
    Just an FYI for you.
It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibility.)
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".
There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx
In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!
As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.
    Thanks again,

  • HP P1102w and new Mac Mini not talking...

    Hi All,
This is a similar issue to all the other threads involving the P1102w and Lion. It is a little different in that the printer is already on the network and running successfully with 2 other minis, 2 iphone 4s, and 2 ipad2s... it just wont work with the new mini.
I have read over many threads and seen lots of different answers and solutions but I didnt want to just jump in and start messing things up when there is (maybe) a simpler fix.
I know that the printer firmware is up to date, at least to a month ago when I installed it the first time. I do have a windows laptop if the solution is to do the HTML config I saw in another thread.
So, if anyone can point to the solution to this isue I would be forever greatful.
Thank you for your time in this matter.
    Cheers,
    Alex

  • New Mac Mini, Not so new LCD HDTV Monitor, no mac support

I have been attempting to set up a Mac Mini with a Maxent LCD 26" HD TV I can't get either the RGB or DVI-D input to accept signal. I have purchased DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX_X. Maybe they could work, but I can't get a signal to stay on long enough to change the settings as listed in other posts. I have tried booting in safe mode as DisplayConfigX instructions suggest. But still only am able to see the screen until gear starts spinning with apple logo, resolution changes spontaneously to one that I suppose is unsupported and I get the unsupported display and a beautiful blank blue screen. I tried manually inputting the resolutions the monitor manual lists, while connected with an lcd pc monitor. But I can't get the Maxent LCD TV monitor to stay on. It appears that if I could get the Mac Mini to send this resolution signal to the Maxent I would be able to delete any unneeded settings and that would be it.
Perhaps Tom Fussy can help me.I have been at this for over two weeks now. So I have become super frustrated. Of course Maxentusa.com offers no Mac support. But state that if Mac mini is supposed to work with PC that it should work with my Mac Mini. My LCD TV is about 6 months old I could still return it for maybe a Sharp Aquos, if that $300 dollar more TV would work. I am happy with the Maxent otherwise. Keeping it, and having it work with Mac Mini Is my choice. Of course Apple offers no support for the Maxent monitor and directed me here. This is my first discussion group post. School me if I have not followed the rules completely.

I was able to get the settings for Maxent using Gregory's software to force 640x480. Here are my settings

  • Mac mini not recognizing USB mouse and keyboard upon boot

hey guys, i have a 2.4GHz mid-2010 mac mini with 2GB of ram, running 10.6.8 with all software up to date. this computer was purchased about two months ago. when i boot the computer, it does not recognize the USB keyboard or mouse though each is powered by the USB ports. oddly enough, after waiting for about 5-10 minutes, the keyboard and mouse magically begin to work normally and anything i did while they were both "frozen" happens all at once.
any ideas? i've done an SMC reset to no avail, tried other USB keyboards/mice, and i am unable to reset the PRAM because the keyboard doesn't work while the computer is booting. thanks in advance.

yeah, i did all of that; former tech here. i might just nuke it and start over, i wanted to post and see if anyone had the same issue. bizarre thing is that it actually DOES recognise the peripherals and they start to work after about 5-10 minutes, 'remembering' everything i did while it was semi-frozen. i.e. the mouse starts clicking everything i clicked, the keyboard logs all keys pressed, and everything happens all at once as it 'wakes up'. haha. one of my co-workers told me that the girl before me who was using this mini wasn't too bright and had that whole macdefender thing happen so it might be some residual leftover from that.
it also takes a pretty long time to boot so i'm suspecting it may or may not be something hardware-related.
    thanks for your response!

  • ITunes not recognizing my 2nd Gen iPod Nano.

"An iPod has been detected, but can not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."
This is the message my MacBook keeps giving me when I plug in my iPod Nano. All was fine until I downloaded 7.5 (then 7.6)
I've used different USB cords, I've reset my iPod Nano, I've switched it to Disk Mode to try to restore it that way...nothing works. And I know it's not my iPod because I deleted 7.5 and reinstalled 7.0 and it worked just fine. Unfortunately I need 7.6 in order to sync my new purchases with my iPod.
Anyway, anyone else having these issues with the new iTunes updates?????? Any solutions? Or does Mac just expect me to buy new iPods every 6 months....????? (very annoyed with mac right now as my other 30GB iPod Classic just starting flashing the sad ipod icon...i've had it 1 1/2 years....so very obnoxious.)
    Thanks for your time!

I'm glad (selfishly glad, I guess) that someone else is going through this too. Just upgraded to new iTunes and now my little 2GB nano isn't even recognized. Tried everything you did as well. No worky.

  • ITunes 7.1.1.5 not recognizing CD insertion or iPod connection

HELP! I am running Windows XP Professional on a dedicated PC to host iTunes. In the last few days, iTunes has suddenly started to not recognize the insertion of a new CD (for ripping), the removal of the CD (after ripping) or the connection/disconnection of any of my 4 iPods.
Windows spins up the CD-Rom drive properly and recognizes that an audio CD was inserted. iTunes will not recognize the insertion (and subsequently begin ripping) until I attempt to open the CD-Rom drive icon in Windows Explorer. iTunes then recognizes the audio CD and automatically rips it. Further, when iTunes has completed the ripping and ejects the CD, iTunes still shows the CD as being inserted in the drive until such time as I open the CD-Rom drive icon in Windows Explorer.
iTunes is also EXTREMELY slow to recognize that an iPod has been connected to the computer (I have 3 5th generation iPods and 1 2nd generation Shuffle), but I have been unable to find a way to speed up the recognition as I did with the audio CDs.
With the exception of Microsoft Security Patches, nothing has been installed on the PC. I have also already removed iTunes and reinstalled. Currently my iTunes has 10016 songs, and iTunes reports that it is about 51.22 Gb in size. Is there any method of compacting the iTunes database to increase performance? I have recently added approximately 2000 songs to iTunes.
Any suggestions or assistance that anyone can offer would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

  • App Store not working on 1st gen iPod touch HELP NEEDED!!!

I have a 1st Generation iPod touch and I have been using App Store very often to download apps. I do not have my iPod syched to my computer, so I cannot download apps with it. I just use my iPod's app store. Up until the other day, it has been working. I tried to download an app, but it showed no screen shots, and by tapping the price to download it, it did not do anything. It did this on every app I tried. Every time I try to download an app, it doesn't work. Is it because my iPod is so old? What is the problem?

    Try resetting the iPod..
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • New Mac Mini not seeing my Apple TV

I just got a new Mini and used the migration assistant to migrate my accounts and files from my old Mac to the new one.
However, when I launch iTunes, my AppleTV is not showing in the left-bar or the Preferences. It used to show and sync just fine with my old Mac (G4 MDD Dual 1.25GHz).
I have the latest update running on the AppleTV (3.0.1) and am running the latest Mac OS (10.6.2) and iTunes (9.0.2). My library is still named the same, since I migrated my old account settings.
Is there anything I need to reset/change for iTunes to see the AppleTV?
P.S. I have "Look for Apple TVs" checked in the iTunes Preferences.
    Thanks

Go to your TV menu and reset the synch for the new computer. I had the same problem when I got a new Mini. Not sure if it is due to the new computer or Snow Leopard. Even though the library & network names are the same, seems the TV knows the computer itself is different. Kill the current synch & set up a new one just like you did when the TV was new. You can use the same names. You will get a new pass-code to enter on iTunes when you do. The big negative is everything on the TV is dumped and has to be re-synched. If your library is very large, do it overnight.

  • ITunes on my Mac Mini won't sync with my iPod nano. Any suggestions

Does anyone know why my iTunes won't sync with my iPod nano.  When I follow all the directions, the last step says "Click on Apply", but there is no "Apply" on the screen.

Double check to make sure podcasts and configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.

  • Can i use nike+ipod (sensor kit or not) with my 1st gen ipod touch?

okay. so i just bought an ipod touch about a month ago because i had an ipod classic but wanted to use nike+. Well i was cruisin the apple website looking to buy nike+ and realized that it says that it only works with 2nd generation touchs. I was about to bust a nut. I did not just spend 250 dollars on a touch and now i cant even use nike+
I bought the 2.2 software upgrade a bit before that, and im wondering if with this upgrade i can use nike+? I understand that the 2nd gen touch has a built in thingy majigger, but if i bought the sports kit (both the sensor fo rhte ipod nad the reciever for the shoe) can i still use it?
    thanks in advance.

    Nope... no external volume controls.
So now I have to return a Christmas gift -- one I was really looking forward to using! Thanks a lot, Apple.
And here I thought I was buying a reasonably up-to-date product six months ago, when I got my Touch.
Is there some really compelling reason why the plug-in receiver will work with Nanos of all kinds... but not Touchs?
