ITunes on PC and MAC G4

I have an iPod formatted with Windows, and all my tunes are on my PC laptop. However, I would like to copy all these music files onto my Apple G4? Does anybody know the easiest way to do this? I am aware of using iPod as a hard disk, but cannot see how I can use it to transfer music from Windows to Mac? Any step by step help appreciated.

It says: "Important: Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats)".
The Mac can read (and write) Windows formatted disks.
As your iPod is Windows formatted, and you want to copy from PC to Mac, that shouldn't be a problem.
If you have your complete library on your iPod , you can also use a third party application like 'Senuti' (freeware) or 'ipodRip' (shareware) to transfer the contents of your iPod to the Mac. Your playlists on your iPod probably will be saved too.
Do a Google search for the applications to find the URL's (they will probably be first on the list).

Sharing itunes on pc and mac

I recently got hold of a mac and now I need to load my library onto it. I already have it om am external drive from my vista machine. Unfortunately when I go to add the foldr to itunes, the mac doesn't see it. It can see the Itunes folder, but not the itunes music folder inside. It can be viewed, along with all of the other songs, on my windows machine. I don't want to have to reload all songs (make copies) on the drive to import. Is there an easier way to share a library between windows and mac?

Open the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences, turn off the option to automatically copy content to the iTunes Music folder, and then drag the iTunes folder into the open iTunes window. Playlists and other metadata won't be preserved, and the drive will need to be plugged in when you want to access the songs.

TS3694 Problem in update OS 5 to OS 6 after update to Itunes 10.7 and Mac OS 10.8.2

I updated the Mac OS to the 8.2 and now when I tried to update the OS 5 to the OS 6 I'm without my 2 devices the Iphone and the iPad. ITunes is asking me to restore the devices... Is anybody with the same problem?

I got to restore the IPad but the Iphone remais on the same situation:

IPhone 5, iTunes 10.7 and Mac OS X 10.6.8

Just plugged in my iPhone 5. Told I needed iTunes 10.7 so I downloaded that. Then when I try to install, it says the system needs Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later. I'm currently running 10.5.8 but when I look for software updates nothing comes up. Help?

The best answer I have for all of us 10.5.8 Losers (as Apple suggests), although its a short term remedy and doesn't resolve the fact that APPLE is a completely irresponsible enterprise pushing over-consumption down our throats (I'm running on 10.5.8 on a MB 3.1 and upgrading to Snow Leopard is not recommended...) The poor beast still works and functions perfectly etc.....and its me that is going to choose when I buy a new PC...not Apple...I'm ranting.........(but they deserve it)
So to the point:
Instead of buying and upgrading to OSX 10.6...for an overaged computer that doesn't want or need an upgrade...I'm in France and did call Apple to buy the Snow Leopard and they proposed a three week delay for delivery... hahahahahaha oh and did I insult the poor person at the other end of the phone...???

I'm ranting again...but they still deserve it!!
So, I opted to buy the equivalent icloud storage as my iphone 4 (16go) (ATTENTION NOT ALL IPHONES HAVE ICLOUD) which is roughly the same price as Apple's demodé snow leopard, because they have reduced the price considerably.
Then proceeded with an icloud back up from the old Iphone to the icloud (after purchase).
When starting iphone 5, we are prompted to either:
-start as if a new iphone
-back up from itunes
-back up from icloud
So I chose an icloud back up which worked perfectly and now my Iphone 5 is working!
Any way, and of course this doesn't resolve the problem of synching between itunes 10.7 (which I don't have) and the iphone 5, I'll take care of that later, but at least I can use this f$$%kin phone!!
Icloud will take of the rest in the mean time

Sync iPhone between iTunes on PC and Mac?

My brother-in-law is a paraplegic and I am trying to help him sync his iPhone (original) with his iTunes. He has a MacBook (Black) but when his hard drive crashed he started using his old Dell laptop and iTunes. Apparently, this is what he originally sync'd his iPhone to. He now has his MacBook back and wants to sync his iPhone to this. This is not a problem with his purchased iTunes music library but he has some music from his CDs on his Windows iTunes and this machine is in Florida and he currently is on Cape Cod.
When I connected his iPhone to his MacBook, a dialog box popped up saying that there was new software for the iPhone and his iPhone music library will be erased.
Question: Is there anyway to sync his iPhone to both his Windows iTunes and his Mac iTunes without erasing the entire music library?

No, there is not.
The iPhone can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.

I have all my music stored on a mac. I currently sync my ipod with the mac. I am now looking to purchase an iphone which I will need to synch with my windows pc and outlook express. Is there any way of synching the iphone with the pc for emails and contacts etc and with the mac for the music without having to copy all music 80GB from mac to pc?

I was using iPods touch 1st and 2nd generation together with iPod Shuffle 1st generation with inferior versions of iTunes and MacOS X without any problem. After I upgraded to iTunes 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.6.8, the iPod Shuffle still appears in iTunes normally, but the iPods don´t appear. Its not a problem of the USB because because it happens with two different USB cables which worked just fine before. Any idea how I could get the iPods working again?? Thanks a lot!!!

I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen, MacOS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.5, and my iPod still works when I plug it in.
So it's not the software, because mine still works. Do your iPods have a lock on them? If so, try unlocking them and then plugging them in, usually when your iPod has a passcode lock it won't show up in iTunes until you unlock it.

Are you meaning rintones that you create from existing files?
If so - then Google and you will get lots of hits on 'how to'.
Once you have the ringtones in your iTunes library then make sure in iTunes prefs>General tab - the Tones option is selected. Once your device shows in the Devices list make sure you select from the Tones tab in the Devices window the tones you want to d/l.

Because you need Mac OS X 10.5 or newer to sync it. Since you're running iTunes 9.2 and Mac OS X 10.4.2, you're almost certainly on a G4 or G5 Mac. These require the installation of Mac OS X 10.5 from a retail DVD to use that iTunes version.

You copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The iphone is not a backup/storage device.

I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?
