ITunes on pc with vista

I have downloaded iTunes on my pc and then try to syc my iPad. In iTunes on the pc I try to go to the help section and I get an error stating I am not connected to the Internet. Check my connection and all is ok. Checked my firewall and apple has full acces. Any suggestions?

To do wifi sync, you have to connect, wired, open iTunes and the main info panel for your iPad. THen enable wifi syncing. Sync wired, unplug and then you should be able to wifi sync.
Some tricks/glitches. Sometimes you'll need to wake up the iPad to get it to sync. I've also had to turn off the 'open iTunes when iPad is detected' after my iPad spent all night opening iTUnes every time it tried to 'reach out' and find my computer. it is also significantly slower to sync over wifi than wired, so bear that in mind.

  • Itunes not working with Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Itumes 10.6.3 version will not work with Vista Home Premium. I have a 32-bit operating system. I'm not sure what to do next. It appears in trying to update it deleted the old itumes, as I can't find a copy of it when I search the computer.

    Then I installed Quicktime on its own - still get the same error 'Quicktime has stopped working;
Okay. That will be the source of the iTunes problem. (Without a properly working QuickTime, iTunes won't work correctly.)
Checking on things that can cause QuickTime launch errors now.
Have you at any stage installed any Codec Packs, any copies of the programs QT Alternative, QT Lite or Storm Codec, or any media converter programs that can convert files into QuickTime readable formats?
(I'm checking on these things because depending on the versions of the programs/codec-packs, these can install earlier versions of QuickTime componentry on a PC, which can interfere with the running of a higher version of QuickTime.)

Apple offer this advice which I guess is not much help to you as you have Norton:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1609?viewlocale=en_US
I wonder if it is worth looking in the your firewall configuration>>Programs and deleting any entry for Bonjour - in the hope that you will be prompted to allow it or not when you do the install, or maybe adding it back with permit all.
But someone came up with another possible solution at the end of this thread:

  • Itunes stops working with vista

Has anyone had problems with itunes stopping working with windows vista? I have tried all the upgrades but itunes still stops working when playing songs and videos.

    Tizzy79,
Your computer is blue screening. This is frequently caused by problems with driver conflicts or a computer virus. Make sure you've scanned your computer for viruses and spyware.
If that doesn't help, let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to the Apple engineers to analyze.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties". In the dialog that comes up, select "Advanced System Settings" on the left. In the dialog that comes up, select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
You need to send that file to our buddy Roy, [email protected] Make sure that you include:
    (1) the mini dump file.
    (2) the link to this thread.
    (3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes Blue Screens Vista".
    (4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get that information, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor.

  • ITunes 9.0 with Vista...where's the MS love Apple?!?

How could you release a brand new Super iTunes without even testing if it would install on Vista/XP? Surely the vast majority of iTunes users are on PCs. I've tried installing on two different Windows PCs in my home and it's a no-go.
We can't spend money in your store or hookup our sweet new Nanos unless you guys at least borrow a stranger's PC to test if it will work.
    Such a shame...

Same here. My XP machine is fine, but the Vista one I only bought yesterday and downloaded iTunes 8 to with no problems, just will not accept iTunes 9.
I don't have a lot of Vista experience, but it seems mine is a 64 bit machine and that is causing problems. There's another thread on here with some instructions but it all means nothing to me.
I get the following "The windows installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in safe mode , or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance" is the error message."
I have absolutely no idea what this means, I'm only glad I still have an XP machine working otherwise my iPhone would be no use to me anymore.

  • Itunes calander sync with vista

i want to sync my iphone with my calanders, however in itunes it says that their are no calanders installed. i have vista and it has a calander application. how can i get itunes to sync with this?

    Which calendar application?
The iPhone syncs with Outlook 2003 or 2007 only for calendar events on a Windows PC.

  • Ipod touch and itunes not working with vista?

I bought a 32gb ipod touch(2nd gen) today and so far it's been nothing but a massive headache for hours. I've had an ipod video(30gb) for three years now and it's always been perfect, hasn't give me an ounce of trouble.
I get home, checked that I had the current itunes version, and then plugged in my ipod touch. I immediately got an itunes error saying that the apple mobile support device was out of date, and I had to re-install itunes. I did that but it still didn't work, it wouldn't recognize my ipod touch. I deleted all my itunes and apple folders and restarted(and uninstalled). Now my ipod still won't recognize when i plug it in on my desktop, it gives me an intunes error saying something like " your ipod touch cannot work because you dont have the 64bit version blah blah ". Which is ridiculous because I'm on windows vista 64bit, and the version of itunes I got was the 64 bit, i checked it three times and even re-downloaded/installed it.
I tried my second desktop which is on windows XP and it wouldn't recognize my ipod touch either. Then finally I took out my laptop which is windows XP, and plugged in my ipod touch. My ipod touch works fine on my laptop, but not on my other two desktops.
I need for it to work on my main desktop(the one with vista) because it has all my music.
So any ideas as to why this is happening? and how to fix it.

    Hi,
What is the name of the iTunes installer file you used? Try downloading and installing the iTunes again from the iTunes64Setup.exe file located here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/iTunes8_1_1_for_Windows__64_bit
If the issue persists, verify the usbaapl64.sys driver is being used by following the steps under *Verify iPhone Driver/Service Installation* in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
If the issue is not resolved after installing iTunes from the iTunes64Setup.exe file and the correct driver is being used, reconfigure or disable the security software on the PC and reinstall iTunes.

  • ITunes not working with Vista

I just got a laptop preloaded with Windows Vista home premium. I installed the newest version of iTunes and it was working fine for a while. Now when I try to run iTunes I get an error message that says "iTunes has stopped working - A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I uninstalled and reinstalled and system restored, virus scanned, and even tried running an older version of iTunes bu nothing's worked.
I've seen around the internet that if you have the latest iTunes it should work fine with Vista. What's going wrong here? Is this simply a compatibility issue that I need to wait out or is this some other problem that I'm unaware of?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes Not Responding with Vista 64-bit Running on Dell Studio 15

    Hi!
I am running Vista 64-bit SP2 and downloaded the newest 64-bit version of iTunes. My music is located on an external network drive. Every time I open iTunes it starts to load the music and then just sits there and I have to kill it with the Task Manager.
I had the same setup only using XP on my old laptop and iTunes ran fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing a problem? I started with a brand new laptop with Vista SP1 and had the same error. So I just upgraded to Vista SP2 thinking that might help but it had no effect.
Thank you for any suggestions, I don't know what else to try...

  • Itunes wont Open with Vista Service pack 2

My itunes stopped working a while ago and so i decided to delete it, i then reformatted my laptop and reinstalled vista back to the way it was when i first got my laptop and by wonders itunes worked. However since i have completed the updates that windows has given me, including service pack 2 it has stopped working again due to date execution prevention. does anyone know how i can solve this issue

This is a worldwide issue with several audio drivers after a recent Windows update.  Microsoft's website shows a disclaimer saying that it is not responsible and that we should approach the Original Equipment Manufacturer about the problem.  Obviously, our OEM is HP who, to date, have neither communicated a fix to their customers, nor have they issued a recall.  <text deleted>
Please see the other thread in this forum entitled:  HP Quicktouch On Screen Display has stopped working and no audio output device is detected.

  • Corrupted my iTunes Library fiddling with Vista User IDs

Had been using iTunes on my new laptop for a month, having succesfully copied my library (22gb) from my old computer. Then I realised that my C:\ drive was filling up rapidly and I had not been using my E:\ drive. I followed instructions I found online to move my data onto the E:\ drive. That all seemed OK until I noticed that the data had been simply copied and was still filling up my C:\ drive (iTunes, being so large, was the main culprit).
The iTunes Music folder location, in Advances Preferences was pointing correctly (for each separate Vista user account) to E:\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. So I reasoned I could delete any iTunes folders I found on C:\. This is what I did.
The biggest mistake I made was not testing everything worked OK straight afterwards. This was two weeks ago and I have only just gone to play music that I can see is still there in iTunes. The music will not play – it cannot find the location. (There are a handful of files that do work, that were downloaded after I did all this.)
I did a search for *.m4 and the search results shows them sitting in C:\Useraccounts\Public\Public Music\iTunes Music\artistname. However, if you look in the folder it says it is empty. I cannot get either the library or the individual files to point back to this folder.
I cannot see any iTunes library files in the Recycle Bin for any user account.
At worst case I guess I can rebuild everything from my iPod which has not been synced since I messed around with the user accounts, or from a complete backup I took a week before this happened. However, if I have to follow this route I guess I will lose the items I have downloaded since. (By the way, I do not have the iPod set for disk use.)
    Can anyone please help me:
    a) rebuild the corrupted library?
    b) ensure afterwards that all iTunes data is off the C:\ drive?

  • How long until we get an Itunes version compatible with Vista?

The only Itunes/Vista information I can find says they will be coming out with a new version in a couple of weeks, but it has been saying that for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any idea when we will get the new version.

Sorry, there is no further inforation that apple will announce other than that artical that you mentioned.

  • ITunes not opening with Vista 64-bit

I am not able to open iTunes on my system. I have the latest version installed as well as Quicktime. When I double-click on the iTunes icon on my desktop, nothing happens. I will get the hour glass for maybe 5 seconds and then nothing after that. My Quicktime works fine. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Is iTunes 10 compatible with Vista?

I have been trying for 2 days to upgrade iTunes - the icon appears on desktop, computer detects the program, but it won't run and just continually updates and then give me a fatal error message! I have followed loads of advice on here but no luck.

Well the problem is sorted and I'm £65 worse off! I had to admit defeat in the end and take my laptop to a repair shop and apparently the MS Installer was corrupt, so everything had to be wiped off and started again. Great fun, but at least iTunes 10 is up and running!
