    I think this might help!
    1. Go to My Computer
    2. Go to Manage and then Device Manager (if you have Vista just click on System Properties up at the top and then on the left-hand side you should see Device Manager.)
    3. In Device Manager you should see portable devices or something similar and there will be a thing directly under it that says unrecognizable device or once again something similar.
    4. Click on that and you should get an option that tells you you don't have the device driver for the unrecognizable device, and you should get the option to download that.
    5. I just downloaded the driver and my computer automatically found it on the internet, and now it works.

  • Ipod shuffle 2 nd gen itunes 9 ipod not recognised (windows 7 64 bit OS)

    Hi
I see that others are having issue. My problem is that I have windows 7 ultimate installed (64 bit) along with itunes 9 (64 version) . When i plug in my ipod shuffle 2nd gen 1gb I get the following message " the software required for communicating with ipod and mobile phones is not installed properly. Do you want Itunes to repair this for you?'
Say yes reboot - same error message .Connect ipod not recognised.
    Have reinstalled itunes 9
Have also uninstalled itunes and reinstalled
gone to portable devices under device manager to update drivers still issues
Is anyone getting the same error message and is there a solution
    really frustrating !!!

I'm having the same kind of problem and haved tried pretty much everything my self. We have two computers. One with Vista and the other with XP pro. We have three iPods.
80g video, Touch first generation and touch second generation. Everything works fine with the first two, but windows cannot find the driver for the 2nd generation touch. Altough all drivers seem to be installed. The problem started with the Vista computer. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything and nothing works. Took everything on the XP computer, and the 2nd generation touch is still not recognized.
Of course I-tunes is up to date and all drivers as well.

  • Stuck on connect to itunes screen and not recognised in windows

    help please
ipod 4  is stuck on connect to itunes screen and itunes or windows will not recognise that its connected. My iphone connects straight away so its not the pc.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Itunes and Updater not recognising Ipod

    Hi everyone!
I wanted to share with you my problem. I've been reading for a long and trying everything: 5R's and even re-installing windows, but nothing seems to work.
I have a opperating system Windows Xp SP2 and NOD32 as antivirus. I was using my Ipod correctly and it was working great. The problem is when I tried to plug it to another laptop under windows. It didn't recognise it, and when I try back on mine, is not recognised again. Itunes doesn't show it, Updater gives errors (such as another program is using Ipod),It charges and hopefully the Ipod works correctly.
What can I do? I'm thinking about asking AppleStore to change it becouse it's still under the warranty. Do you think that with a new Ipod I will be able to connect it agin to my pc?
Please try to help me! I don't want to change my Ipod and wait again!

    Any halp for that?

  • Itunes and computer not recognising nano 6th gen?

my itunes is not recognising my  ipod nano. i have tried the restore (which would not work with my pc it is synced with, had to use a different one to restore) and every other troubleshooting option apart from reinstalling itunes, which is not an option for me as it affects other users itunes libraries on the pc. the cord works with other apple ipods. the nano works with other computers. i have since uninstalled the ipod nano in computer device manager, but am unsure of how to reinstall. now itunes AND my computer are not recognising the ipod. what steps can i take to make it work again? also, if it helps, it comes up with a message saying the device has been recognised but then has an error message saying it wont work and if the problem persists to reinstall itunes, which i will state again, i am not willing to do. last resort. thank you to anyone who helps.

Windows will not recognise my ipod shuffle, I have

  • ITunes destabilizes Windows, not getting support from Apple!

    Hi everyone,
I'm posting here out of frustration, b/c the last two times I contacted ITunes support with previous issues, I received no response from Apple.
My current issue is that the ITunes program (6.0.2.23) continually destabilizes my computer. I hope everyone will agree that it is not right that running one particular program causes problems for other programs and for the Windows OS in general.
Please note that I am not experiencing any problems with any other programs other than Apple ITunes for Windows.
    Symptoms (always occur):
    1) After playing ITunes music files for several minutes, the audio becomes garbled and harsh-sounding. Closing the ITunes program doesn't correct the problem. Instead, all sounds and audio in Windows are garbled and harsh-sounding until the computer is rebooted.
    2) If other programs are running when Itunes is running, and the ITunes visualizer is selected from the ITunes menu with "Full Screen" checked, then all other running program windows get "moved" to my 2nd display from the primary display. Even if the other program window is minimized, when I restore it, if it was on the primary display before, it now appears on the secondary display.
In my opinion, both of these problems should be unacceptable from the point of view of system stability.
The only thing I can imagine is that ITunes uses a driver which hasn't been tested / verified for Windows systems with 4GB RAM, and there is a memory hole issue. I've seen memory hole issues already with other vendors (e.g. Tyan BIOS), so this wouldn't be a surprise.
    Any constructive comments appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Brad
