Itunes on Windows Vista no longer works

I recently purchased an ipod 80 gb player and was using it to transfer
music from my cds with Itunes 7.1 on my vista 32 bit pc (HP Pavilion
a1730n) for 2 weeks with no problems. I then started downloading some
video podcasts onto my ipod using itunes and started to have problems
with the operating system crashing in the middle of a download (the
blue screen of death with pop up - causing me to reboot my computer by
holding down the power button).
Now itunes will not open up at all. When I try to open itunes I get a
pop up informing me that "ITunes has stopped working A problem caused
the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program
and notify you if a solution is available." This message comes up
everytime I try to open ITunes.
I tried uninstalling both ITunes and Quicktime and then reinstalling
but Itunes still will not open. I even tried a system restore, but
that didn't work either.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with ITunes and found a
solution? Any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks.

i'm pretty sure that apple has not yet released a stable version of itunes for vista

  • ITunes in Windows VISTA no longer identifies my ipad2

I used my ipad along with iTunes on my Windows Vista Laptop for some time. But for sometime now, itunes is not detecting the ipad anymore. In betwee, I connected another ipad to my laptop, and that connected fine. But since, my own ipad is not connecting. I wonder if I am doing something fundamentally wrong! Any suggestions?

I had this problem while working on a pc at my office. When I searched every where for it the only thing I could find is the registry key that you have to remove. We found a way to fix it though. The registry key is the driver that itunes uses to access the optical drive so it can burn with it, but there is a conflict. What must be done is either uninstall itunes or remove that registry key so you can have access to the optical device. Do all the firmware upgrades for the optical drives and update the bios for the pc to the latest addition. install itunes, and update to the latest version (you will probably lose your optical drive again). No go to the windows updater and make sure you get and install ALL latest updates. Afterwords, restart, you should be able to see your cd drive, if not, you probably have roxio and its conflicting with itunes. If you uninstall roxio, you will be able to use your itunes to burn cd's and you can see the drive. If you need roxio and still having the problem, remove the registry key again. The only thing it disables is the ability for itunes to burn cd's and it will tell you everytime you open it that it needs to be repaired, but it will work fine with out it so don't repair it. This is as far as I have gotten.

  • Help Please..Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned). How do I transfer the library from the 160 to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista (ie merge the 2 libraries)? Thanks

Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned as it had a very noisy hard drive).
How do I transfer the library from the 160gb  to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista.
Nothing seems to help on the Apple support pages, so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but not actually sure how to sync a second iPod with the library of the first, as I thought it would not recognise a new iPod for copyright reasons.
Also, the files are in a location on the pc but I had to do lots of formatting amendments in iTunes as most of the stuff was on mp3 files and the formatting was all over the place. I did not want to loose any of the work by simply asking the new iPod to look at the original file and would rather copy en masse from one device to another.
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated
    Thanks

  • ITunes on Windows Vista...Crashes Every Time

    Hi.
I just purchased an ipod nano and installed itunes on my PC (windows vista).  It worked the first time but would crash 1/4 of the way through syncing my library to my ipod.
Now itunes just crashes/freezes/is completely unresponsive as soon as I open it either my clicking the icon or by plugging in the ipod.
Completely unimpressed...I have owned 10+ phones/mp3 players in the past and have never had an issue (hadn't been using itunes) with transferring files, etc.
    How do I fix itunes?
I updated Quicktime and iTunes...Quicktime is working fine on its own.

    Hello Mariahthomas
Check out the articles below to troubleshooting issues with iTunes not starting for you on your computer. You may have to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall.

  • Synching calendars between itunes and iphone 5 no longer works.

Syncing calendars between itunes and iphone 5 no longer works.  I do not get any errors, however calendar items are not updated.
I am syncing via USB on a Windows 8 computer.  It worked a couple of weeks ago.  Since then itunes has had its weekly update, my IOS may have been updated, and I've run a malware removal program on my computer. I curently have iTunes 11.1.3.8  and iOS 7.0.4.  I read the posts and verified ICloud was turned off.
I really need to be able to sync my computer and iphone again.  Any suggestions?

So you'll either need to attempt further repair yourself or take the iPhone to some unauthorized repair shop, pay them, and hope they fix it correctly.
The iPhone 5 has no Touch ID, and an iPhone 5S should still be under warranty, so I'm puzzled as to what you really have and were attempting. If you do have a 5S, why you didn't get it serviced under warranty?
    Regards.

  • ITunes and Windows Vista

I've just purchased a new computer. It came with Vista Home Premiun OS. When I download iTunes on it -- it works fine until the computer is shut down. When the computer is then started again the DVD/CD driver software cannot be found. The drive won't recognize anything. If I uninstall iTunes it works fine, I reload iTunes and it works fine until I shut down again -- then it doesn't find it again.
I am pretty sure I have the most updated version of Vista (although I will check asap) and know that I have most updated iTunes (just downloaded) -- anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it....other going back to XP or uninstalling iTunes?

It would be best first to check for a device filter conflict:
iTunes for Windows Vista: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters
... however, if you're still getting no CD/DVD drive with just the iTunes filters in place, you may be one of the unlucky ones who are getting the issue discussed here:
Optical drives not recognized in Windows Vista after installing iTunes 7
Although it wouldn't necessarily be a short-term solution, keep an eye on that document for updated information about the issue.
In the short term, one workaround might be to use a different application to rip the CDs, and then use the "Add to library" function to get the ripped files into your iTunes. The following document might be of some help with that:
iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and Convert functions

  • Cant install any version of itunes on windows vista, does anybody know of a fix?

cant install any version of itunes on windows vista, does anybody know of a fix?

Since you don't say why it won't install, here is what I have found to work on a Vista machine, 32-bit:
Download but do not install iTunes file from Apple site
    Stop anti-virus and firewall
    Restart computer
    Login as Admin
    Run iTunes installation
    Turn anti-virus and firewall on
Restart and login as regular user
Vista likes to leave a lot of installers running in the background even when they finish and that interfers with the iTunes installer.

  • ITunes on Windows Vista and audio CDs

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes for Windows Vista. I actually tried this before the new version came out and my audio CDs wouldn't play correctly. I tried everything in the article "Audio does not play or plays incorrectly" and it didn't work. I thought it might be the system, so I waited until the new version came out. When it did, I downloaded it, but my CDs still don't play correctly. I tried everything in the article again and it still didn't work. Now I'm at a dead end. Help!

I have the exact same problem...!!! I posted a couple of weeks ago and still no help. Not only do I not get any audio from my CD's, I cannot RIP music from them either. All audio and drive functionality work with all other players. Drive diagnostics report no problems. I am seriously considering switching to another MP3 player. (All this after purchasing multiple IPOD's) I run Vista Home Premium on a new DELL. I have no other issues as of yet.

  • I have an older ipod...ever since I updated the itunes software my ipod no longer works in my car.  my car is a 2013 mercedes E350.  Is there a way to go back to an older version of the itunes software?

I have an older ipod...ever since I updated the itunes software my ipod no longer works in my car.  my car is a 2013 mercedes E350.  Is there a way to go back to an older version of the itunes software?

If it's an older iPod, its software is not being updated by Apple.  So, I don't see how updating iTunes would make the iPod not work with the car's audio system, since iTunes just updates the song files (not how the iPod operates).
Does the iPod work by itself (play songs), when disconnected from the computer and iTunes?

  • Why can't I install Itunes on windows vista 64 bit?

I get this complicated error mesage and then the installer rolls back and fails.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

  • Is there a fix for the incompatibility between itunes and Windows Vista?

I'm having a problem with itunes and Windows Vista. When I download itunes it disables my dvd drive. I have found a fix for that by deleting some registry items, but when I do that itunes is disabled. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

    Hey Don,
What exactly happens after you install iTunes? Do you see an error message?

For the  first time,am getting a routine error R6034. Do not let open my iTunes, and possible lost all my contents. Why is this happening, is it nothing  secure on the Internet no more even our music? Please  I appreaciate any good help. I tried to redownload am stil the same  message. During reinstallation.."Service Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges. Options   ABORT,RETRY,OR IGNORE. That is what am getting.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
