ITunes only recognises first CD I insert - Windows 8 solution needed!

Hi,
Whenever I use iTunes to import CDs, it will only allow me to import one and then will not recognise further CDs.
I'm aware other people have had this issue and that Apple has issued guidance at http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27618. But "Shwicon2k" is nowhere to be seen in the config utility - maybe something to do with me using Windows 8 rather than 7?
I've also uninstalled some media software that came bundled with the laptop, I've updated iTunes and I've done a repair install. Nothing seems to work.
I'm using an HP Pavilion laptop with Core i5 and Windows 8.1.
Any help gratefully received!
Thanks.

Just bumping this in case anyone can help...

  • Itunes only recognises various artists instead of th dj who mixed the cd and therefore cannot find the artwork. Is there any way to solve this problem?

itunes only recognises various artists and not the dj who mixed cd, and therefore cannot find the artwork as a result. Is there anyway to solve this as I have quite a few cd's with the same title in this series?

I'm happy to report that Sound Studio has corrected its part of the problem, and an updated version is available on its web site: freeverse.com/soundstudio/
I also discovered that attempts to adjust individual song volumes in the Get Info menu won't work if the Sound Check option is selected in Preferences (duh!).
Further good news is Apple's announcement of an arrangement to offer unprotected versions of BMI music in the iTunes store for an extra 30 cents per song. It would be well worth it, in my opinion, if all the music companies agreed to the arrangement, thereby streamlining the task of transferring problem songs to editing programs like Sound Studio.
One minor glitch remains. To differentiate between original and edited versions of a song, I usually append a number to the name. But when I import the edited version back into the iTunes library, iTunes automatically changes the name back to the original. I can tell the difference by referring to other clues in the library file, but not in the abbreviated iPod menu. I could delete the unedited version from the library or, better, create playlistys consisting of only the edited versions.
Thanks to all who contributed to this discussion. I hope others benefit from it as I did.
P.S.: I did download Max, which works fine for its intended purposes.

  • ITunes Only Burns First Few Tracks....

When trying to burn a CD on iTunes it will only burn the first few songs onto the CD.
I have tried different blank CD's and have no problem burning CD's when using Windows Media Player.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

iTunes tends to be more picky on windows than other programs that burn CDs on a PC. The 3 main fixes for any iTunes burning issues/problems are
    1) Updating the CD burners firmware and the PCs chipsets, BIOS ect ect, basicly any updates/patches offered on the PC makers web site for your model.
    2) Slowing the burn speed in iTunes by going to edit>preferences>advanced tab>burning sub tab. Usually slowing it from "Max" to a speed like 8x or 4x does the trick
    3) Using a different brand of blank CDs. Not all blank CD's are make from the same material, and not all burners read them the same.
Another thing you can do is goto Help>run CD Diagnostic and copy/paste the whole resulting report here so we can see what error if any your getting and overlook your setup for anything wrong

  • PLEASE HELP itunes only recognizes first audio cd for import...

I have been through every topic, discussion, and trouble shooting method. I have been on this computer for 12 hours...PLEASE, someone must know. Lost a computer and started new itunes and was able to use this forum to get all my music from ipod into new itunes. I am now only able to "rip" one audio cd into itunes per session. After that, itunes does not recognize the next. If computer is restarted, i can again "rip" one. I did find this exact topic in apple trouble shooting, but info was not pertanent to this situation. I don't know how tech savy some of you might be out there, so i will include the info given to me when i run cd/dvd diagnostics. I have done everything suggested listed including reinstalling itunes, repairing, restarting and just plain going crazy...you think itunes just doesn't like my music?Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)Gateway M-1625iTunes 8.0.2.20QuickTime 7.5.5FairPlay 1.1.11CD Driver 2.0.7.5CD Driver DLL 2.1.1.1Apple Mobile Device 2.1.2.7Bonjour 1.0.6.2 (118.5)iTunes Serial Number 7AFA9314770DD851Current user is not an administrator. The current local date and time is 2009-01-16 00:15:18.iTunes is not running in safe mode.Video Display InformationATI Technologies Inc., ATI Radeon X1270** External Plug-ins Information **No external plug-ins installed.

I have OCD and can't use Mediaplayer for import then transfer to itunes. Seriously...itunes should work with ipod, right? I backed up my entire library, restored my computer to an earlier date before any problems with itunes. Uninstalled itunes, and started from scratch. Installed new, reloaded library...actually imported 3 audio cd's and then again...disaster, same problem. It won't recognize anymore. If i restart the computer, itunes will again read one or two and then fail to recognize again. Anyone?

  • Itunes not recognising my ipod touch on Windows 64bit. HELP!

When I try and connect my shiney new ipod touch to itunes it says please connect this device to a computer running vista/windows 32bit... thus rendering it completely useless!
Is there a way to fix this?
Please I am desperate, I feel like I have completely wasted my money.

I just got my ipod touch this morning and I am having the same problem with Windows 7 64 bit. iTunes is the latest 64 bit version. When I plug my ipod into any USB port I am told that it is an unrecognized device.
I can however plug it into my netbook (also running Windows 7 but in 32 bit) and it is recognized as an iPod.

  • Itunes only plays first few seconds of a song...

I have a mac mini that I purchased last summer and have recently been having itunes problems. I have had no internet at home for a couple months but I believe itunes was up to date when I last had online access. I think I upgraded to Yosemite? But honestly can't remember. I am on my work computer and far from home.
So starting a couple of weeks ago, when playing certain albums in itunes, it would play the first 5-10 seconds of a song and then jump to another song on that album. I could switch albums and it would play fine. Sometimes. But the problem has worsened and now I cannot play anything in itunes without this happening. Very frustration to say the least. I have tried restarting itunes and restarting the machine with and that has not helped. Maybe a reinstall of itunes? Sounds like that will need internet access to get re-updated and such? Any help here is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmmm. I see a lot of questions and issues with iTunes in this here forum but not many answers and solutions to those problems. Seems Apple has been taking some missteps lately and forgetting a big part of what got them to where they are: their stuff worked with ease. Seems so many more stumbling steps these days.

    Hello there, matt12003.
The "Watch" button in the iTunes Store usually indicates the movie is already on your device. The following link from iPhone Basics shows the steps on how to view your content on your iOS device:

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

  • My iphone is not recognised on either my computer (windows 7) or in the latest itunes that i downloaded. It was recognised for a short time but windows media player asked to open my pictures and i clicked ok. I also started downloading the newest software

My iphone 3gs is not recognised in either windows 7 or in the latest itunes. It was briefly but then Windows asked me if I wanted to open the camera with Windows media player and I clicked ok. I also tried to download the new software for the phone. Now nothing works. I also downloaded a programme which you supposedly need for iphone with windows 7
    Any help please

The ONLY program you need for an iPhone on Windows 7 is iTunes. Remove whatever the other program is, then remove and re-install iTunes as diesel vdub recommends.

Install an hardware diagnostic tool like Everest home Edit or similar.
This tool would provide all hardware details about your notebook.
It would list all devices and chipset name too.
I think its Intel chipset so you could find the driver on the Intel page

  • My music is on a nas loaded by Windows Media Player in WAV. When I import into Itunes only the songs appear no album name etc.

My music is on a nas. Loaded using windows media player in WAV.
When I import into Itunes only the record apears, no Album name etc
How can can I see all the details

Information is often stored as tags embedded in the file.  WAV does not support tagging. I don't know how WMP works but iTunes keeps its own database about media.  For many audio formats, track information will be stored both in iTunes' database and in the file itself as tags.  With formats such as mp3 most tags (not all) will 'travel' with the file when copied.  This does not happen with WAV where the information is only stored in the player application's database.
