ITunes only updates 5-30 songs at a time
I have a 60gb 5G iPod, with latest versions of updater and iTunes. Each time I connect the iPod, iTunes only syncs a few songs, before ceasing (there is no error message). I then have to instruct the iPod to update again, before the same thing happens.
Can anybody shed any light on my pain? Thanks.

sorry, i didn't mean it to sound that ominous.
it's just that i also associate the I/O errors with a
flaky USB 2.0 connection.
hmmmm. even though you don't have a Toshiba, try
seeing if you can get a better connection if you
switch off the high-speed interfaces, using the
instructions from the following document. let's
not restore the ipod, we're just checking to
see if you can get a better connection going for a
song transfer with those interfaces disabled.
iPod not recognized correctly on Toshiba
laptop
(i've seen this work a reasonable number of times
with Dell laptops, and at least once with a Vaio.)
Success!! Many thanks for your help.
I've now managed to sync the entire itunes library, plus my photos in one go. Seemed to take an awfully long time (several hours for around 25gb of music), but I'm not too concerned as I now have a fully functioning ipod!
Cheers.

Itunes only syncs a few songs at a time
I just updated to the latest version of itunes on my windows xp machine. It used to update my ipod without any problems, but I haven't synced in several months. Now, when I plug my ipod in and open itunes, it starts syncing but then stops at some arbitrary number of songs (fewer than 100). This is a big problem since I have thousands of songs to sync onto my ipod (I reset it, so it's empty).
What's going on? I went through the preferences with a fine tooth comb and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Thanks.Ideally, I'd like to sync to my gmail account. It syncs a few contacts without a problem, but that's about 15 out of around 200. I'm not sure why it won't sync the rest properly

Why dose iTunes only play half my song
Why dose itunes only play half my song and then go to the song thats next

since there is no info in your profile, which ma model, os, which iTunes you are using, limits anybody from delving deeper into your problem.
Update your profile, you will probably get more help. -
For some strange reason the songs in my library are multiplying. For example, I really only have 4,000 songs but every time I open itunes I have 6,8,10,000 songs! Any one else have this problem. How do I stop that from happening? I keep having to delete my library!
This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

ITunes only imports half the song+running very slow!
Ok, so I've been reading through these postings and it looks as though many are experiencing the same issues! When I import a song to iTunes only portions of the file are imported, then iTunes skips ahead and downloads the next song. Also, the application runs very slowly and takes a long time to load. Are there any indications that suggest these issues will be resolved with the next update? Does anyone know when to expect the next version of iTunes? Will going to the Apple Store help my cause? I just spent $300 and I want this to work. What should I do? Also, it says I'm running v 6.0.0.18???
hp laptop Windows XPOther people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting it from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link. -
This problem has come up after installing a new hard disk to replace a failed one. I restored the music just fine but iTunes only recognizes a few of the song tracks and then creates a new folder within iTunes called "music" that contains those few songs. Tried deleting the .itl and .xml files and reimporting via "Add Library Folder" option with similar results.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

IPod only updates around 80 songs - then goes dead
What to do...
My ipod mini only uploads around 75 songs and then slows down in uploading taking up to about 10 minutes for one song. When it reaches around 80 songs it cuts out.
I've reset my ipod, uploaded the new software and such to no avail.
Can anyone help...please?
ipod mini Windows XPYou could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode. -
Stopping Itunes from updating/modifying my song list.
Hi there, here's my problem: Basically I manually corrected all of my songs (over 7000 songs) of my Itunes, I manually set the correct name, artist, album and even put the illustration to each album, my problem is that everytime there is a new update for Itunes it automatically changes things like the genre or the album (mainly) and alters everything from what I had, is there an option I can click to stop the Itunes from doing this?
ThanksI already have everything "tuned up" everything has it's right name with the right album and even genre, my problem is that Itunes "automatically" updates the songs to whatever album they think is the correct one and changing the album that I had already selected as the correct one, the most anoying thing is that they change the genre of for example spanish sining groups/singers to "latin" music.. When there's diferent kinds of genres in spanish or in italian or in french songs, even when I had already selected the correct genre for different songs/groups...
Any ideas? -
Bought a cd on itunes only downloaded 5 full songs of the 17
bought a cd on itunes and out of 17 songs it downloaded 5 full songs and 12 half songs
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -
ITUNES ONLY WORKS FOR 5 MINUTES AT A TIME
iTunes stopped working about a month ago, but then I fixed it using the msconfig solution. It worked for a while now I have the same problem, i can fix it, but then iTunes only works for about five minutes before closing. This is the only way I can fix it; first, by re-installing iTunes, then, doing the msconfig solution and restarting the computer. Then after about 5 minutes it closes. To open it again I have to go through the whole proccess. I cannot figure out how to permanently fix it.
Sounds like you have some malware that is interfering with iTunes.
What do you have to turn off in msconfig to get iTunes working?
It's pretty involved to remove it. If you have purchased security software like Norton or McAfee, I suggest contacting them for help.
Otherwise try this

ITunes only shows 10 episodes posted at a time
Hello...I am trying to figure out why iTunes only publishes 10 episodes of my podcast at a time. I just posted episode 17 of The Seamus & Opie Show and everytime I post a new episode the oldest one drops off. How do I keep ALL the posts listed at the same time? Please help.
Please always post the URLs of the Store and your feed when you have a query - how do you expect to get an answer if I can't look at the feed?
Searching on the title you give brings up a podcast at
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-seamus-opie-show/id500495929
using a feed at
http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheSeamusOpieShow
Is this the correct podcast? All 17 episodes show, both in the Store page and when subscribing. -
ITunes not updating iPod rated songs
I have used iTunes and iPods for several years. I always use automatic updating. Previously, any change to a song rating I made on my iPod would be reflected in my iTunes library after a sync. Since my most recent iTunes update (7.1.1), I have two problems. (1) iTunes does not update the ratings changes made on my iPod and (2) podcasts which I listen to on my iPod are not marked as "not new" in iTunes. It appears that Apple has screwed up something in the sync process in the newest iTunes version. Is anyone else having this problem?

Having exactly the same problem as your first issue. In the playlist of top-rated tunes they all appear. However my iTunes library has 460 relevant tunes, whereas the same playlist on the iPod has 100 fewer. They are greyed out and can't be changed and aren't played.
Any ideas?

Itunes only loads parts of songs.
When i load cds onto itunes it only loads parts of the songs, and for some it says 'not available'.
For example dani california, which is 4:42 long, only comes up as 1:19, and snow, the song after is 'not available'.
The cd's work in my cd player 100% fine, and all the tracks are there, just not complete.....
Any fixes? It seems that I have the same problem.
While am working on the Mac, I often listen music on iTunes 8.0.2 (iMac G4 OS X 10.4.11) with Shuffle On, Repeat Off, I notice some pieces doesn't play completely and change before the end.
Opening the music file with Sound Studio, I saw that a part is missing (Waveform is flat). Sometime only few second at the end, but sometime only few second left at the beginning !
What could have gone wrong ? How to fix this ?
Thanks for any help you can give,
(I looked on my BackUp Disk to restore the full missing number. Unfortunately, it seems that SuperDuper "Sand Box" has already BackUp and replace the right full numbers with the defect one !) -
Why doesn't iTunes match update last played songs?
Entire library is loaded onto my macbook. When I play a playlist from the cloud off of another device, the last date played is never updated. why?
Hi,
I suggest that you add the icloud status column to song view in your computer's iTunes library. To do this, go to menu > view > view options and tick appropriate box. This will tell you if the song has been matched, uploaded, purchased, ineligible, duplicate or waiting. If the tracks are showing as waiting try selecting update iTunes match.
If they continue to show as waiting, try deleting them but do not move to trash. If you get the pop up asking if you wish to delete from cloud, tick delete from cloud. Now readd tracks and select update iTunes match.
