Itunes Opening itself every 2 minuites - APPLE NOT LISTENING

Itunes is opening itself every two minutes and playing music. I do not have any 'devices'  plugged in. It is not enabled for startup. I remember having this problem a year or so ago with another update on an older operating system but that fix does not work. Now regrettably running Lion ( hate the new mission control) so as not to lose my mobileme. There are obviously many people with this itunes problem,  yet there are no replies from Apple in the discussion forums and once again no help from them either. I have been a mac user since my Mac classic nearly 20 years ago and am now so tired of having to continually sort out, find patches, try to get things to sync with apple that I cant believe I'm saying this I'm thinking of actually buying a P.C. I waste so much of my day trying to fix things going wrong on my mac that actually having one is costing me my work time. SORT IT OUT APPLE.

  • ITunes opens itself!!

I'm surfing with Safari or any other programm (iTunes is completely shut down), and every few minutes iTunes opens itself. I didn't press any link to open iTunes or anything else like import music. It's getting on my nerve. Please help.
    Thanks
P.S.: Excuse my bad english, I'm German.;-)

Do you have an iTunes related Widget running?
It could be the reason of iTunes opening by itself.

  • Itunes opens itself at will

    itunes opens itself at will

Don't know the specifics of your issue, but I was having the same problem.  Just a zombie iTunes that would launch by itself every 15 min or so.  After research, found the issue to be the iTunesHelper ap, which launches at boot and is designed to launch iTunes whenever an iPhone or iPad is detected.  Must be a bug, but my Macbook swore it was seeing an iPhone or iPad.  I've also heard of similar issues with 3rd party keyboards, etc.  I believe the culprit was an iPhone emmulator for web design.
Through Activity Monitor, I quit iTunesHelper and have had no problem since.
These articles helped find the cure:

  • Itunes opening itself

Itunes keeps opening itself on my macbookpro. I thought it might be the music sharing wirelessly. I changed my setting to no sharing, ended the program and turned off airport. A minute or so later the program was open again on my desktop.
Has anyone ever seen this or know how t stop it.
It randomly drains my battery life.
    Thanks!

    alexandrakgallery,
    Welcome to Discussions.
The most obvious reason is an iTunes related Widget.
If you have one or more, disable it/them and see if it helps.
If it does, enabling them again, usually will not cause the problem again.

  • ITunes opening itself without being asked to!

In recent days iTunes has started opening itself and begun playing the playlist- I have not changed any settings etc. I have also checked the preference panel, and cannot see anything there that has changed. This is becoming a real pest!!!
    Any ideas???

This is usually related to third-party apps or widgets that are attempting to talk to iTunes. If you have any such items, disable them and see if it stops.
Just curious...does iTunes only do this when you first startup? (If so, it could be listed in your Startup Items in System Prefs.) If it keeps launching repeatedly after you've quit it, go with my first suggestion.

Make sure your iTunes version is version 12. if it is and still doesn't work, reinstall itunes from this installer: iTunes
Make sure you have a Time Machine backup, but you shouldn't lose your library by reinstalling iTunes.

  • Not a significant problem, but has anyone noticed iTunes opening itself, or suddenly playing when dormant?

    The title asks the questions.

Found the solution to the problem. Probably not the best fix, but it works.
I have upgraded to Snow Leopard, but I don't think it changes anything...
There is ONLY 1 WAY to configure the AX to make it work as we expect.
You must check the option "Create a new WiFi network", even if what seems natural is to check "Connect to an existing network".
Then, name your network, like for instance "MatFromParisse Network", select the security level you want and password.
If required, you select "Connection via Ethernet", EVEN IF NO ETHERNET PLUG connected.
    IPv4 configuration: "Via DHCP".
This all look like you are going straight in the wall and doesn't seem natural...
Then on the computer you are using iTunes on, select the network you just created (like "MatFromParisse Network"), instead of your usual network.
AirTunes will play, but it seems you no more access the internet. When you want to surf the internet again, switch back to your normal WiFi network. It seems that it's not possible to listen to music and surf at the same time.
    Not professional, but it works.
I have spent 50 hours in total to make this work, the equivalent of 5 working days. I sell my working days 2,000€/day, so I value my lost time to 10,000€ to make this stupid thing work. I wish not to thank Apple for the complete lack of support (hotline doesn't even know what means error -6710).

  • ITunes installs itself every time I open it.

Whenever I start iTunes, ever since upgrading to the latest version (10.1.1), Windows Installer comes up and installs iTunes. This lasts a few minutes and then iTunes finally comes up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The "Please wait while iTunes configures iTunes" is a repair install of iTunes. (The advertised shortcut for iTunes has checked against the installation database in the iTunes.msi to see what itunes program files, registry entries and other itunes whatnot ought to be installed on the PC, and has discovered something missing on the PC. So it's trying to replace those items.)
MSInstaller events will be being recorded in your Applications event log about those repair installs. If we're lucky, they'll tell us what item is missing that iTunes has been trying to repair.
In Windows 7, open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer.
Open the Windows logs folder. Open the Application log.
Look for MSInstaller events generated at the same time as the iTunes repair installs. (You may see several different MSInstaller events for each repair install.) Doubleclick on the events to see the descriptions.
Are you always getting the same descriptions for your iTunes-repair-related MSInstaller events? If so, paste a copy of the description for each typical MSInstaller into a reply here so we can have a look, please.

  • ITunes 10.5 starts itself every few minutes for some unknown reason

iTunes 10.5 installed on a Vista system to perform the iPhone 5.0 iOS upgrade.  Now iTunes starts itself every few minutes for some unknown reason.  Exiting iTunes will close it (and, of course, remove it from the Task manager list of running applications), but in a while it will restart all over again.
    Thoughts?

if u have wifi sync on turn off open when this ipod/iphone/ipad is connected

  • HT204406 Since updating to ios6 on my iPhone 4S iTunes Match has not worked. The app stays open for about five seconds before crashing. With ios5 it was great and worth paying for. Now it is utterly useless. Apple, please listen and fix this problem.

Ever since I updated to ios 6 on my iPhone 4S, iTunes Match has not worked.
I have been through the process of deleting my iTunes control files, and that worked temporarily, but now I cannot listen to music through the service.
It shows my artists and albums, then takes forever to access the songs (often more than 10 minutes - and yes, that's using WiFi), more often than not crashing before it gets to that point, then repeatedly crashing when I try to open the Music App, so I can't even access things I've downloaded.
Has anyone else found a solution?
Apple, please listen up - I am paying you for the iTunes Match service that is utterly useless. Fix it please.

After some troubleshooting, I decided to order a new battery.  I replaced the battery and was then able to get it to restore, however--after I restore it and it comes time to restart the phone, it gets stuck and doesn't turn on.
Sorry, your repair ruined the iPhone.
She does not have apple care and even though she loved this device, she isn't going to buy another iPhone because of all the problems shes had with this one (it's just over a year old).
After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-
Yeah, all Android user can think of is Jailbreaking, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743

  • 11.3.1.2 Itunes keeps opening itself, not connected to any devices!!!

I installed Itunes 11.3.1.2 as a clean installation on my laptop last week. Running Windows 7.
I have connected the Ipad Air ONCE only. Yet for the past 3 days itunes has randomly opened itself up, it's doing it when no one is home, when we're asleep etc.
Nothing is running that should open it, no widgets, no media players NOTHING absolutely nothing!!!!
I have searched the community and found a heap of ideas on what might be triggering it and tried everything on there that i can and nothing helps.........
Please any ideas will be fantastic its driving me nutty!!!!!!!!!
    Zoe
screenshots below of my itunes preferences:

This basically reset my driver and now everything works fine with getting it to show up in itunes, however is still will not allow me to use my personal hotspot. Ive noticed when i turn on personal hotspot on my phone i see this:
so obviously we are missing a driver or something that enables the personal hotspot to function correctly. I just can't seem to figure out where that is located.
    UPDATE***
i went to the folder that was by the previous driver i updated
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\NetDrivers
    i selected netaapl64.inf
and now Personal Hotspot works and it shows up in device manager like this:
hopefully this helps whoever else is having this issue

  • Iphone 3gs- updated to the ios 5.0.1... since then i plugged it into itunes, an now my phone restarts itself every 3-4 minutes! Restored 4 times and still not working help please!!!!!

iphone 3gs- updated to the ios 5.0.1... since then i plugged it into itunes, an now my phone restarts itself every 3-4 minutes!!! it so annoying! its useless, i cant do anything with it. restored it 4 times and its still doing it!!! please help!!!
i contacted o2 and they said id have to pay to get it fixed after sending it away for ten days if their was a fault, when im still under warranty!! contacted apple who will get back to me!

I am assuming you updated to version 5.1.1, not 5.0.1 since no legitimate version of 5.0.1 is available.
Where is this iPhone from and what means did you use to unlock it?

  • Every time I close iTunes, it automatically re-opens itself

I'm trying to install software updates on my computer, but I cannot because they require a restart- which cannot occur, because every time I quit out of iTunes, it automatically re-opens itself. Why is this happening and how do I get iTunes to stop doing this?

Check Dashboard to see if you have any iTunes-related widgets running. If so, close them and see if that makes a difference. Similarly, look for any third-party apps that may be related to iTunes, such as apps that copy "now playing" information to a web site.
Another possibility is external speakers, if you have them. Another user here found that a loose speaker connection may cause random launching and playing on iTunes. Try wiggling the speaker plug and see if that causes iTunes to launch. If so, unplugging and reconnecting the speakers may cure the problem. If not, you may have a defective speaker jack or an off-side plug on the speakers.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Arjun sache,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue with iTunes shutting down unexpectedly when your iPhone is connected to the Mac. Take a look at the article below, it provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that may be able to resolve the issue for you.

  • Could you please tell me how to turn off the email sign-in and password function when I open Itunes on my computer - I don not wish to sign in every time

could someone please tell me how to turn off the email sign-in and password function when I open Itunes on my computer - I don not wish to sign in every time

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
