Itunes opening up automatically

itunes opening up automatically after updating to 10.5 and installing ios5 on my iphone, for which i have turned on wi fi sync.
am using Windows 7

Come to think of it, while we're on the subject, here's my problem:
iTunes (v6.0.4) is open and playing music as usual. I run Mail or Firefox or some other app. When I go back via the Apple\Recent Item menu item, the iTunes menu appears (or not) and there is no iTunes window. I am then forced to use the Force Quit manouvre on iTunes. Why is this happening? What cause this behaviour?

  • ITunes opens up automatically when I use the remote to control VLC!!!

I have often used VLC with 10.5 to watch videos on my iMac and always used the remote to pause, play, and adjust the volume. However, since upgrading to 10.6 today, now every time I use the media keys (either the remote, or even hitting the space bar on the keyboard to pause/play the VLC player), iTunes automatically opens up (it was not running before) and starts playing! VERY annoying when trying to watch a movie. Does anyone know any setting I can do such that iTunes will only be controlled by the remote when it is open?

However the Nano 6th GEN just refuses to.. . Please help! Have tried all options under apple/support website, and uninstalled/ reinstalled drivers too.

When I open iTunes it will automatically go to full screen mode. I can't work out how to turn this off. Only iTunes opens to full screen mode.

Go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar).  Choose "General".  Click "Always close windows when quitting an application".
    That should fix it.

    Hi r,
Make sure you close iTunes before shutdown.  And you're quite welcome.

When I connect my iPhone to my PC iTunes no longer automatically opens. And when I open it myself, my phone does not even appear under devices. Help please!!

    Things to try:
Try resetting your phone (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears.  When you see the Apple logo let go of both buttons and your iPhone will reboot.
Try a new sync cable (often the problem)
Make sure you phone is adequately charged
Make sure you are using latest version of iTunes

  • My itunes opens automatically and i quit but it opens back up again

I am on my computer and itunes opens automatically and starts playing music. I close it and quit it but it just opens right back i tried restarting my computer and everything. nothing seems to work

    This is a possible solution:
Open up Activity Monitor and search for the process genredetection.
Quit this, and iTunes should then behave properly and quietly quit when you want it to.
If the process is not running check your ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins
and disable any present to see if they are the cause.
I create a folder iTunes Plug-ins Disabled to put them in.
    Thanks   ...   Ken

  • ITunes has stopped automatically syncing new books placed in Library with open file. I have to drag the file to the device to get iTunes to sync the book. Why

iTunes has stopped automatically syncing new books placed in Library with open file. I have to drag the file to the device to get iTunes to sync the book. Why?
Ever since version. 7 iTunes has stopped syncing checked books without dragging them to my iPad. all settings are correct.  I have set up 3 new devices and had to direct the new people to drag the books to their iPad. previous to ver. 7 this happened automaticlly just by syncling the device.  This issue isn't just on my computer but at least three others. books purchased from apple sync just fine. If is drag the book from the library ad drop it on the device it syncs fine.  What a pain if you have added several files now you either have to do the drag drop process for each one as you add it or try and remember which files you added the find them and do the process.
    Thanks

    Hello BBWEST11,
This may be due to iTunes 11 being set to manually manage content on devices by default.
By default, iTunes 11 and later is set to manually manage your content on your device. Manually managing your device allows you to choose the content you want to have with you.

  • IPod Syncing Automatically/iTunes Opening when iPod Connects

    Good morning:
I am at my wits end, so maybe some of the experts here can solve my problem.
My touch is automatically launching iTunes, even though I do not have the launch iTunes box checked on my iPod.
This is where it gets interesting. I just plug it in to charge, it automatically launches iTunes, and then iTunes automatically syncs the iPod.
Of course, I also have "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" checked in Preferences. iTunes seems to ignore this, and syncs anyway.
The fun part begins right when it begins to sync. Since I like to have a firewall and antivirus software running (which is apparently not compatible with good syncing), my iPod promptly fails to sync, and then iTunes tells me it cannot recognize the device.
So, I then have to disable my firewall and antivirus, restore, run the backup and then manually manage all my music again, plus anything I downloaded before running the next backup because (get this) the second I plug in the iPod, iTunes loads and attempts to sync, which, of course, fails, and so I never get the next backup in.
And I know what you are thinking, just disable the firewall and antivirus before plugging in the iPod. Yea, sometimes I do that and sometimes I forget. Ever forget to do something? Happens to me with frequency.
I have tried un-checking the Prevent box, closing iTunes, opening iTunes, re-checking the Prevent box. Doesn't work; iTunes still automatically opens and then automatically syncs.
iTunes, on occasion, will sync when I close iTunes before ejecting the iPod. Which is always fun if I've gone ahead and re-activated my firewall and antivirus, because I get to start all over again. I'm becoming quite the restore professional.
    Why? Any solutions?
My iTunes version is 10.0.1.22, iPod is a 3rd Gen Touch with the current OS version (constantly restoring does that), I'm running Vista, I'm currently standing and my sign is Aries. I'm not sure which of those will be helpful, but I'm trying to cover all the bases.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussions,
try this to stop autolaunch: connect your ipod, uncheck the autosync option in iTunes/Settings/Devices,
then check the summary pane if the autolauch option is selected. In your case you should now see the selection mark, this one is not visible if you selected to prevent any device from syncing in the settings.
Deselect the autolaunch option in the summary pane and change the settings for autosync again in iTunes/Settings/Devices. Now you should be able to connect without any sync process starting.
To prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings: Open iTunes, connect iPod touch to your computer, then press and hold Command-Option (on a Mac) or Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPod touch appear in the sidebar.

  • ITunes opening automatically on download of MP3

Whenever I download an MP3 file from any source, iTunes opens, showing an empty playlist for that date. How do I keep it from opening?

    jpgirard wrote:

    JP Girard,
That is a function of your browser, which has a default action for each type of file you might download.
For example, if you are using Firefox, go to Options > Applications, find the value for "MP3 format audio," and change it from "Use iTunes" to "Always Ask."
    Other browsers have similar options.

  • Itunes opens automatically

I have three devices set for wifi syncing.  When I'm NOT syncing any of the devices my itunes is launching automatically as the devices are being connected to itunes.  How do I set either itunes or the devices so they are not "connected" to itunes when NOT syncing, and only launch itunes when I start to sync?
    Thanks!
    Eddie

You can't. As long as WiFi syncing is checked off in iTunes for your iDevice, then iTunes will always want to stay running. If iTunes were not running, and you started a sync on the iPhone, it would fail because it coulsn't make the connection. That's why iTunes stays running. Only solution is to turn it off.

  • ITunes Opens Automatically - Please make it stop

Upgraded to Lion a couple of weeks ago. Now iTunes opens by itself and starts playing music. When I quit iTunes, it opens again in a few seconds.

Assuming you have a device that syncs with iTunes, view that device in iTunes and go to Summary>Options and uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected".

  • ITunes opens to wrong folder

I downloaded a song from the iTunes store - first one in a VERY long time.  I see the song and it is the ONLY song I see!  I went through Finder and found all my other songs in the iTunes folder  (Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Media -> Music) .  The new song went into iTunes 1 (Music -> iTunes 1 -> iTunes Media -> Music) and this is the only place I can get iTunes to go.  In reading other articles, I see that changing the location in  Advanced Preferences, only tells where new songs will go, not where iTunes goes.  How can I have iTunes open to my original iTunes folder so I can see all my songs.  How and when did it change the Advanced Preferences to iTunes 1 - I KNOW I didn't change it - I don't know enough about it to have changed it.  Any help is appreciated.

Somehow you created a new iTunes library.  Start iTunes and immediately hold down the option key, then select your old library's library.itl file.  You will need to add that waylaid file to the old library by dragging it to the "Automatically Add To iTunes" folder.

  • Since I upgraded to iOS 5 Itunes opens up constantly on my Windows 7 PC and won't stay closed.

How do you stop Itunes from opening up automatically on your computer?  I close it and it pops right back up within a minute or two.
This started after I updated to 10.5 for Itunes and upgraded my Iphone 4 and Ipad Original to  iOS 5 .   Surely there must be others who
    have this problem.  Very strange.
    Any solutions out there?
    Thanx
