ITunes - opening, updating, uninstalling and installing
I've been having problems with uninstalling and installing iTunes. I can't even open iTunes. It started with me trying to update iTunes. I've been trying to uninstall iTunes and each time I attempt a message pops up. When I try install it from the iTunes website it begins to install and then stops and the same message pops up. When I open iTunes it begins to update then stops and the same message pops up. The gist of the message is that there is missing file and it is unable to continue because there is no privilege or permission to access. It even gives me a file name (C:/Program File/iTunes/about iTunes.rtf) that I am unable to access because there isn't permission. (Same message pops up.) PLEASE HELP! PS: How can I tell if I have a 32 bit or 64 bit Window Vista.
I am having the same problem with my Vista Ultimate PC. I have tried to correct privs issues but I'm afraid I've made things worse. In short, I am unable to run, uninstall, repair or upgrade iTunes - during each operation I get a variant of this message: The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files\*. The * may be a directory/file in the iPod directory or the iTunes directory. I have tried to take ownership of these directories but this has not corrected the problem. Any suggestions? I'm dead in the iTunes water right now. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

iTunes auto-update dowloaded and installed on 28/01/2014. iTunes now won't launch and error message states file MSVCR80.dll is missing. Tried unistalling and downloading/installing again to no avail. Any clues?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Why can't I open, update, uninstall or install itunes?
I can't open my itunes, I have gone through the support on Apple website, but when I try to uninstall itunes (as it says to do) it gives me an error message. I can't figure it out.
An error occured while trying to create the directory c:\Program Files\iTunes.Resousces\fi.lproj\CDPlaylistPlacard.nib
Then it tells me
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330.That error is consistent with a damaged file: c:\Program Files\iTunes.Resousces\fi.lproj\CDPlaylistPlacard.nib
First run a disk check:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265
If that fixes errors, try installing again.
If not or the problem remains, try renaming CDPlaylistPlacard.nib
As something else.
If Windows will not allow you to do it, then rename then containing folder. This will prevent the iTunes installer seeing the damaged file. -

I bought an iphone 4s. After plugging it via usb to my computer itunes demanded to update version to 10.3 or higher. I uninstalled itunes, downloaded latest version (11.0.2) and during installation process on "activating services" it shows error message: "installation failed, verify administrator priviliges" which i have because i sign in as my pc administrator. I click on ignore and it tells me itunes has been succesfully instaled but when i try to run it it shows the error message: "apple application support was not found. It is required to run itunes. Uninstall and install itunes again. (which i have done several times) error 2 (windows error 2)." Someone please help me with this problem. Thanks.
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
After uninstalling and installing several times, Java plug-in is still undetected. Support suggested I open up the control panel and click update but there isn't such an option. The advance tab, there aren't any options to enable or disable plug-ins.
If you're running Java 7, then in System Preferences > Java > Java Control Panel in the Security tab there is a check box to enable Java in your browser. To check for update go to the Update tab.

Apple recomments uninstalling and installing iTunes and other Apple related software. Will I loose my data?
Thank you!Rather than using the Apple document as a guide, I currently recommend using the following user tip instead:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates
Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.) -
Hi, I can not open iTunes unless my computer is connected to my work network. I have tried to uninstall and install and nothing. I have tried to upgrade quick time, no luck.
HI, there is no error message when I try to open iTunes, it just hangs.
In regards to the location of the media folder it was located on the network however I changed it to a local directory. Should I try unistall and install with the correct media library? -

i have the latest version of free Quicktime, Itunes and unable to view video on my PC all i get is a pink screen the audio is OK i have uninstalled and installed several times same problem, i have a Iphone 4 and unable to view the content.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect. -
I am a Windows 7 user and everything has been fine, but when I just tried to open itunes I got an Error 2 message. "Apple application support not found. uninstall and install itunes again." I have done that twice with the same result. this was the 64 bit version.
Check this Apple document out -> Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Try following the steps in that article, which will have you remove iTunes and the other bundled Apple software. Then download and install iTunes 10.4.1 for Windows (64 bit). -
my phone goes in to recovery mode and flash logo connect to itune, when i connect to itune the msg disply update software and i click that than dwnld software to itune, when software dwnld and installing to my phone after sometime msg disply "errore no. 21" and software not install to my phone
From TS3694:
Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, and 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart. -
Hi,
From few days, it takes more than 30-60 minutes to open Firefox on my laptop. I am on Vista & have got Anti Virus as well. I have already tried to reset firefox, have uninstalled and installed it again. My firefox version is 29. But nothing seems to help.
Can you please help in this regard, as I really do love using Firefox, but due to this issue, I am forced to use other browsers.
Thanks
GauravIt is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

Itunes error code 42037. Help me uninstall and install please!
I recently updated to OS X Mavericks. No complaints, other than my itunes. I am not sure if it worked immediately after I downloaded the new software but I can't be sure I used it. Mostly curious about how to actually uninstall and install again without loosing anything. I have an external, that was my first step so I might be set. Any other suggestions to combat my corrupt version of itunes less drastic than uninstalling and reinstalling?
Hi, reinstalling iTunes should not mess with your music et cetera (however some users have suggested on here that it did), but keeping a backup is always recommended anyway.
You can visit this link to install iTunes, the older seemingly corrupted version will be replaced...Troubleshooting iTunes installation on Mac OS X - Apple Support
