Quite annoying that when I open iTunes is needs to open yet another icon on my superbar...

Yes i can connect to itunes store and can do most things except drag and drop from my desktop into itunes. The only way to get rid of the window is to close down itunes completely. It seems to be a part of itunes but i cannot close the window, as it only closes when i shutdown itunes. When i press ctrl alt del, the words itunes are there but no mention of anything else. I thought it may be a 3rd party program or something. There seems to be another part of itunes loading up with itunes but the blank window has itunes on it on the top left corner on the blue line.Tried uninstalling itunes and downloading a fresh copy but no success. Any ideas?

You can't get rid of those icons because that means that you MUST connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and restore the device. You have no choice. There is no way to remove that from the screen. Something went wrong on the iPad and you need to restore it now.

Itunes opens with error -50

Itunes opens with error -50 on my Mac. Once open signing in causes error 5002. Signing in from App store just fails. My Mac pc does not appear to be registered anymore and I can't sign in. On screen Support buttons don't connect so can't contact support online. Tried all the work arounds in discussions but no joy. Even tried deleting itunes to start agin but you can do that apparently. For one work around I Signed in through Safari to change payment details but payment option was not displayed. Getting really p'd off. All is ok on my iphone/ipad etc but not my main pc. Any printable suggestions appreciated.

Found a fix that worked, didnt even need to refresh the network settings
Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
Choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go.
In the Finder window, locate the file named "NetworkInterfaces.plist" and drag this file to the Trash.
Restart your computer.
Once your computer has restarted, you will not be able to connect to the Internet. You will need to refresh your network settings to be able to connect again:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
Choose Network from the View menu.
If you're using Mac OS X v10.4, choose New Location from the Locations menu.
Click Apply Now at the bottom right.
If your network connection requires any special settings, you will need to put them back in at this point. You would have received these from your ISP or network administrator.

Error message when I click on the iTunes store icon in iTunes

whenever I click on the iTunes store icon in my Itunes it says "iTunes could not connect to the itunes store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again. I run the diagnostic in the help menu and it says my connection is fine and I can logon to the internet with no problem. If anyone has a clue as to what I should do then that would be fantastic. I am running Windows Vista and iTunes 9.

Your MacBook already comes with iTunes. What iTunes is telling you is probably to update it to the most recent version, so open  > Software Update, and install the most recent iTunes version, in this case, 11.0.4.

Itunes opens, but not ipod

okay...i'll try to make this clear without sounding dumb. i click on the itunes icon on the tool bar and itunes opens. fine. then i have to disconnect the usb cable and reconnect to actually get the ipod to open so I am able to add music etc. how come the ipod doesn't open automatically when itunes is launched?

Itunes open, but I have to disconnect the usb cable and reconnect for the ipod 'symbol' to be seen. i checked up preference and I don't see anything to set to automatically open 'ipod' while itunes launches.

If it still shows the icon, Settings, then General, (sixth one down), then international, (third one up from the bottom), then, at the top, has where you can select what language, I think English is at the top of the list. I hope I can help!

ITunes opens up when switch on MacBook Pro

OK. I've owned my new 13.3 MacBook for 5 whole days.
As I mention in the title of my thread; everytime I power up my Macbook iTunes opens. How do I stop it? Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Launch System Preferences and click on the “General” icon
At the bottom of the “Number of recent items” list, uncheck the checkbox next to “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”

ITunes subscription icon - where to find it how to link it

I am curious to learn where I can find some of the official iTunes subscription icons that are displayed on many podcasting sites and what is the syntax of the code I need to use to have the icon point to my own very podcast.

The really is no "Official" iTunes button. There are lots out there people have created for their sites or borrowed from others.
I created one back in late June when iTunes first launched it is at

You are more than free to use it if you like it.
There are many others out there - just find one you like and contact the person at that website and ask them if you can use the button.
As to what people link to the button. Since iTunes launched most people have be linking to their iTunes page. Mine is below:

You can find this URL by going to your page in iTunes from the search feature and then Right click (control click) on the image - it will then say "Copy iTunes Music store URL". Then people hyperlink this URL to their button - after someone clicks on it - iTunes opens up and they are taken to your iTunes page - They then have to click the "subscribe" button to subscribe to your show.
However lately more of us have been just simply replacing the http:// before our feed URL and replacing it with itpc://
itpc://www.podcast411.com/feed.xml
This allows somenone that clicks on your iTunes button to directly subscribe to your feed - even if it is not yet in the iTunes store.
Down side to this - is that it does not work with the Mozilla browser - which is about 1% of all traffic. It works fine with Firefox and Safari and IE.
Also if you think you are going to be in the top 25 of iTunes - it is not certain if this method will count in the iTunes stats.
On the plus side - it is the easiest way to get someone to subscribe to your show.

ITUNES OPENING with a pps

hi, Ive got a weird prob with mail in Panther 10.3.9. when I get an pps attatchment in Mail instead of letting me see the presentation of the powerpoint, Itunes opens up instead. Ive listed this prob in Itunes hoping someone knows y this is happening and more to the point how to correct it.

One thing you can try:
Select icon the of a .pps file.
Press CMD-I
In the Get Info window that pops up, find the "Open with" section. You may need to click on the small triangle to open this section.
Select PowerPoint as the application to open these files, then click the "Change All" button.

Why is Authorizing a computer from the poxy icon on the LEFT top of the screen such a painful experience? Apple is adverse to nice big logical location? The iTunes Store icon rather detracts from the proper location, how about a simple picture with clue?

This had been driving me nuts. I just notices on the top left a little down arrow as clicking the iTunes Store icon on the right just took me to how many computers were authorized but not how to authorize it???? #@$%&!
Would it be that hard to have it on my account information?
Ugly software is what it is. Only found it by accident.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

ITunes opens to wrong folder

I downloaded a song from the iTunes store - first one in a VERY long time. I see the song and it is the ONLY song I see! I went through Finder and found all my other songs in the iTunes folder (Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Media -> Music) . The new song went into iTunes 1 (Music -> iTunes 1 -> iTunes Media -> Music) and this is the only place I can get iTunes to go. In reading other articles, I see that changing the location in Advanced Preferences, only tells where new songs will go, not where iTunes goes. How can I have iTunes open to my original iTunes folder so I can see all my songs. How and when did it change the Advanced Preferences to iTunes 1 - I KNOW I didn't change it - I don't know enough about it to have changed it. Any help is appreciated.

Somehow you created a new iTunes library. Start iTunes and immediately hold down the option key, then select your old library's library.itl file. You will need to add that waylaid file to the old library by dragging it to the "Automatically Add To iTunes" folder.
