Itunes opens, but not completely (transparent)
First, I uploaded iTunes using a CD. Then I tried downloading from the iTunes website. Both times I get the same result...
When I double-click the iTunes shortcut on my desktop, iTunes opens but not completely. Only the text becomes visible (like File Edit View...across the top. And some text toward the bottom of the program). Everything else seems to be transparent. Any help would be great.
I thinks some folks got it to work by updating the PC's DirectX stuff

ITunes opens but not without annoying "Corrupt File" message.
My iTunes (whether iPod is connected or not) will open, but I get an annoying message popping up and I have to check the licensing agreement each time. The message says:
"iTunes: iTunes.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory C:\Documents and Settings...\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility."
Besides running Chkdsk (which I don't know how to do anyway), what can I do about this? iTunes works fine once I open it, but I'm sick of seeing that message every time.
Dell Latitude D620 Windows XPsorry to butt in Rachyl, but i don't think this is actually one of the ipod chkdsk errors. the message path for it is referencing the path to an itunes preference file:
"iTunes: iTunes.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory C:\Documents and Settings...\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
... so in this case, i think we'd better take the message at its word and run a chkdsk over the C drive.

okay...i'll try to make this clear without sounding dumb. i click on the itunes icon on the tool bar and itunes opens. fine. then i have to disconnect the usb cable and reconnect to actually get the ipod to open so I am able to add music etc. how come the ipod doesn't open automatically when itunes is launched?
help!

I am unable to sync usic to my touch Ipod..When I plug it into my laptop Itunes opens but the word 'device' along with the name of my Ipod does not apperar.
My Ipod and Itunes are upto to date. After Itunes opens a small box with the word Ipod appears near the top of the right side of the screen. Then screen will go through the five steps of syncing. Afterward, still nothing has transfered to my Ipod(The box next to the songs I wanted were check)
ANY IDEAS?..THANKSIf you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Then make sure that you have the right boxes chacked to sync. See:

and her itunes appears but i cannot find my itunes?Not really! Anyhow, what do you want to achieve. The only things you can access in your iPad outside of using iTunes are photos and videos. [Locate the iPad as any other external device through Windows Eplorer or Finder and dig through the folders.]
You are fortunate that iTunes opens when you connect the iPad since many other users have difficulty in achieving this. It is from there that you can manage what you want synced to the iPad. -

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes support. Click the Support tab above, then the Get Started link in the Contact Apple Support area and you'll be guided. My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. I have over 700 "items" designated as "waiting." I have restarted multiple times but it stalls at this point.
I've been reading all these comments about how match is not working and people are having problems uploading all their songs. My problem is more basic than that. When I open iTunes I immediately get the spinning color disc of death and I can't do anything at all. I can't go to the store. I can't listen to a song. I can't do anything. I just tried to sync my iPod. I pugged it into my computer, iTunes started up, looked like it was going to sync, then the spinning disc again. So forget match; I can't do anything, nada, nothing. I even tried to send my iTunes application to trash, but I got a message saying I couldn't do that because it was needed for OS X. Talk about a do loop, this is unbelievable.
Is anyone else having the problem I am having? -
when I open logic express 8 with eyetv open but not active and i close logic express 8 and make eyetv active eyetv won't show closed captioning even though closed captioning is turned on. When I totally close eyetv and reopen eyetv and open a live tv window the closed captioning comes back. I never noticed this with os leopard, Just after i installed os snow leopard. All software is up to date only I think, thanks to apple they droped support for logic express. Thanks for any suggestions.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward. -

Skipping songs
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
If you use Windows you may like to try scanning the files with MP3Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/control clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags> None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g.convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.

When I connect either of my iPod Classics my computer freezes whether I have iTunes open or not. I have a second computer which functions normally when I connect my iPods. Any advice would be welcome.
Your problematic PC, has some software or most likely the Winsocks of some plugins is in conflict with iTunes, if both PC has the same version of iTunes and Windows.
If you run the Task manager, compare both PC and see what process is missing in the good one, and that software is the culprit.
Then removed it from your bad PC, if you dont need it, but most likely you'll need it, as it is the graphic card or some video software.

I copied mp3 files from a usb stick and they appear in finder in my itunes media/music folder and on my iphone and ipad with itunes match but not in the itunes library?
Not working. And it didn't used to be a problem. iTunes can find the songs with Search Library, but doesn't show in any index (by song, artist or album). Finding with Search Library offers to play or add to Up Next, but neither actually does anything. Using File-Add to Library does nothing as well. The only way I can get the new files to play is to find in Finder and Open with iTunes.
I suspect Apple is trying to drive me to buy from iTunes store. Not gonna happen. If they don't fix this, I'll find another player.
This worked fine before OSX 10.8. -
ITunes "opens" but why doesn't it respond?
My iTunes "opens" but it doesn't respond nor shows anything after "openning." I attatched some pictures showing the process of me openning iTunes. It takes up 25% of my CPU and doesn't move.

Task manager-Mine was doing the same after last update on a WIN 7 64 platform. Wouldn't open at all, or would open then crash immediately. Fixed it by follwing the instructions here to completely uninstall it and other parts......you MUST do it as instructed.

Hold the shift key upon boot, that will disable any boot loading third party kernel extension files.
Once you get in:
1: backup your user file folders to a external storage drive
2: go around and update all your third party software everywhere, including right clicking on third party system preference panes and removing them if necessary
3: any third party software that can't be updated, consider removing.
4: Look in your Console log files for "kernal protection" type messages to get a clue what's causing your problems.
Read about Gray, White and Blue, Kernel Panics here, they are usually always caused by third party software incompatibilities, but not always.
