ITunes Opens Fine, But!!

I have ITunes 9.0 64bit loaded on my computer and it will open fine with the exception of the incompatibility message. After that goes away, the program is open. But as soon as I plug in my IPod Mini to the 2.0 USB, the program immediately will go into a message that ITunes has stopped working. It states that "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Of course no solution is available and the program will close. I have checked myself as administrator and made sure no other compatibility issues are checked.

I fixed the problem very easily, and I should have tried this before wasting everyone's time trying to fix my problem. I downloaded the new ITunes software onto my wife's laptop (thank god she doesn't know)and restored my IPod and reloaded the music library from my book drive. I then plugged my IPod back into my desktop and everything worked just as it should. I wish to thank all of those folks that are regular contributors to the boards for problem solving and sharing of hints for our Apple products.

Having troubles running iTunes! I downloaded iTunes just fine, but when I try to open it, it tells me iTunes is in a locked disk or I dont have permissions to write to this folder. Please help! I purchased an iPod for my son and wanted to put music on it.

    Hello there KRerssig,
I was looking through our resources and found an article with information regarding that error message. The article is called iTunes for Windows XP: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1866.
Here is the text but the article contains images for a visual reference:
Verify the location of your Windows XP My Music folder. The default location for this folder is
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music
If you do not have this folder at the default location and have not moved it to another location, consider creating one inside your My Documents folder.
Download and install Tweak UI from the Microsoft PowerToys website athttp://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Note: This utility is for Windows XP only. Please review the system requirements before installing.
Once you have installed Tweak UI, open it from the Start menu.
In the column on the left, click on the plus symbol next to My Computer and select Special Folders.
In the right pane under Special Folders, choose My Music from the Folder pop-up menu.
Click the Change Location button. You may see a warning message appear with precautions for changing this setting; after reviewing the message, click Yes.
In the resulting window, browse for the My Music folder as described in step 1, and click OK.
    Reinstall or open iTunes.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, the settings for the current user may be corrupted, which could cause iTunes not to install or open. You may have to install and open iTunes in a different Windows user account.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • CS4 opens fine, but won't open images

    Hello,
I'm hoping someone here can help me.
I'm on my third uninstall/reinstall of PS CS4 with the same issue. I can open the application just fine, but I can't open any files. Photoshop just hangs up when I try to open anything and won't respond. It seemed to start with PS just running laggy when it came to opening and saving files, with intermitent "not responding" notices in the top bar, but after a few seconds those went away... then a few days ago, it just stopped responding once opened.
I know about the Wacom tablet driver problem, and I do use an Intuous3 (and I downloaded the new drivers) but even with the removal of all the drivers and the tablet from my computer completely, I'm still having the same problem.
I'm running 11.0.2 on a Windows machine running Windows OS7:
Processor: AMD Turion II Ultra-Core Mobile 620 2.50GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    64-bit OS
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530
    Thank you.

Have you tried trashing the Preferences?

  • PDF opens fine, but when I try to page down or scroll down with the mouse, it hangs the file

Pdf files open fine in Acrobat 9 pro.  I am having problems in page down or scroll down on the document.  Only way to close the file is to go to task manager and end the program.  In task manager it shows that there are 2 adobe acrobat files opened and not responding.  What can I check or do about it?  I have tried to disable all plug-ins, but that didn't help.

  • Illustrator CS4 opens fine but cannot open any new or existing files

    Hi guys,
I'm running Adobe Illustrator CS4 on my Mac Pro running OSX 10.7 Lion and for some reason I am no longer able to open any new or existing files. Illustrator boots up just fine but 'File>New' gives me nothing. 'File>Open' gives me my usual search box but once a file is selected, again, I get nothing. Dragging a file into Illustrator gives me this response',
    before promptly quitting.
I have tried deleting all the files from my Illustrator Preferences folder but doesn't seemed to have helped.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • TS1702 An audiobook I purchased on iTunes worked fine, but has gone completely silent, with 5 hours left.

I purchased an audiobook on my iPod Touch. The first half worked fine, but 17 minutes into the second part it just goes silent, even thugh there a 5 hours of the book left. What should I do?

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Delete the book and redownload by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My home page opens fine but sub pages attempt to load from the local drive. Not a problem with IE.

Some time ago, while doing a bunch of things at once, FF asked me a question...not sure what it was as I was distracted by other things...I answered "yes" and since then my own website's subpages attempt to load from my C drive. This is not a problem with the homepage itself and it does not occur with other browsers. Driving me crazy and no one seems to know what is the problem...only with FireFox

http://www.questfundingservices.us is the home page which opens fine on any browser. But, in FF, any of my sub-pages attempts to open from the local drive. I believe this happens for other viewers of the site, but I am not 100% sure of that.
I never intentionally entered a <BASE local in the html and I don't think there is one, but you can check the source yourself.
This was never a problem until one day, while doing 50 things at once, I went to my website and FF popped up a question...Don't remember what it was and, in my haste I just said "yes", I think...and this problem has occurred ever since!!!

  • Firefox initally opens fine , but when I try to open another tab Firefox hangs or I get an unresponsive script message

firefox initally opens fine right to my homepage. Then a few minutes later it starts hanging and I cannot scroll or do anything until it connects. Similarly when I try to open a new tab, the new tab either hangs forever, or I get an unresponsive script error message. I have tried resetting firefox and starting firefox in safe mode. nothing seems to help.

  • Lates version of Itunes installed fine, but won't open

I wonder why the latest Version of Itunes 10.7afterinstalled will not open. My Ipod SNis 7J41QwQYXX. Please advise. Thank you!

I couldn't solve it. So, I just use the previous version of itunes.
As a matter of fact, everything goes crazy after update and also upgrade of OS. I have more or less the same problem now, since I upgrade my Mac OS X to the latest version "Mavericks". Eveything is slow and undesirable. It seems there is no solution for these problems.
I decide to format all the labtop and again instal the mac OS from the begining. Hope it works and get my labtop back in the previous condition.

  • I just recently upgraded to windows 7 ultimate, and my iTunes worked fine but it now suddenly doesn't want to open anymore

I upgraded my computer from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate and i opened itunes and it worked perfectly normal and then 2 days later it doesn't open. can anyone help me? and i have the latest iTunes 11.1.2

    Hi peggkel,
Are you saying you just want to change your home page to Yahoo? Not to worry, it's quite easy! You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • ITunes working fine but it won't detect my ipod or upgrade firmware

I have a PowerBook G4, running the latest version of osx 10.4 and a 60 gig, 5G ipod. I was prompted over the weekend to install the new quicktime and the new itunes which I did. Both are working fine. I have no problem listening to music or viewing movies or whatever.
Except, the ipod is not being detected by itunes 7.0. I checked the ipod itself and it has the 1.1.2 version of the ipod firmware. I have done everything I can think to do including the first 4 Rs (Reset your iPod, Retry with a different USB port, Restart your computer, Reinstall iPod and iTunes software). I am not willing to try "Restore your iPod" because if that does not work I will have a blank iPod and I am about to travel for a few days and I want to have music on it when I leave.
I suppose the problem might be something about getting my ipod's firmware updated to 1.2 so that it can then be detected but the 1.2 update can only be done through iTunes 7.0. Worse, there does not seem to be any button I can push to FORCE iTunes to update the ipod firmware. This seems very chicken-eggish.
I don't actually see many folks have THIS problem. The closest is people who can't do much with the iPod but can at least see it in "source" within iTunes. I don't even see a "source" list along the left-hand side of iTunes 7.0 (I just see LIBRARY, STORE and PLAYLISTS).
Any thoughts on how I might resolve this?
PS, I have two ipod cables and tried both and tried them on each of the two USB ports on my powerbook. That plus the fact that I have never had a problem with either the ports or the cables before leads me to believe this is not the problem.

After several weeks of not finding answers here or elsewhere on the web - and after waiting for an iTunes 7.0.1 and getting it - I "gave up" and went to the Apple Store last night.
The Genius bar took my ipod, plugged it in to a mac, reached under the counter and handed me what they said was a NEW ipod (it was in a generic brown box with no accessories, cables, etc). I did not like that solution for two reasons. First, all of my family photos and videos were on my iPod and I did not like the idea that maybe those photos would turn up on the web someday. Second, it was a gift and had a personalized engraving on the back. When I pressed them on what they thought was wrong with my iPod they said it was not worth the time to figure out and they would just give me another one. Or I could ship in to Apple Support and they would send me a new one WITH the same engraving in a couple of weeks. I took the "new" iPod.
And, sure enough, when I connected it to my powerbook it was detected, the firmware was updated and iTunes synced all my music, photos and videos (and games).
The Genius bar people seems pretty sure that the problem was hardware (the port where you connected the USB cable at the bottom of the device). When I pointed out that it had been working fine right up until the day I upgraded to iTunes 7.0 and that it had not worked since they did not seem terribly interested.
So, my problem is "solved" in that I have a working iPod sans engraving.

  • I have downloaded Photoshop Elements and all went well.  When I went to open, it opens fine but is unreadable.  I have a Mac and my flash player is up to date.  Can you please tell me what I am missing?

I have downloaded Photoshop Elements and all went well.  When I went to open, it opens but the content is unreadable.  I have a Mac and my flash player is up to date.  Can you please tell me what I am missing?
    Thanks,
    Nikki

I did try to uninstall and reinstall.  It messed up my computer.  I had to "RESTORE" from the prior days backup.  This was not helpful at all.  I'm used to losing all my stuff when I connect to iTunes, that's a whole other issue, but now I'm completely banned from any updates to my phone at all.  Geeze.......

  • Itunes runs fine, but as soon as I connect my Ipod Classic it says it's...

stopped working. I run Windows 7 Home Premium and Itunes v10.2.1.1. Windows tries to say that if it can find a solution it will, but it never does. Very frustating indeed...
    Any ideas anyone!
    Stuart

Your Windows 7 should be recording additional information about those.
Head into your Action Center, find your Problem History, and look for iTunes problem reports generated at the time of the errors. Open them up and have a look through.
Do they all seem to be saying pretty much the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here so we can have a look.
