ITunes opens to "ALBUMS" instead of "SONGS".

I want iTunes to open to "SONGS" when I open it and sometimes it does but often it opens to "ALBUMS" instead. Is there a setting for this? Thanks.

Hello to all. I am new to this community. I recently updated iTunes on my Macbook Pro. It now always opens up to "Albums" rather than to "Songs" and I can't find a way to change that setting so that it opens to the ""Songs" list. Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

as far as i know its yet another feature that apple have bizarrely removed from itunes
previous versions would simply remember what view mode you where in when you last opened the window
along with some other pretty major features removed from version 11 it makes me wonder why all the useful functions are being removed and simply no useful functions added ?

Browsing a playlist by album instead of song

When going to a playlist the default in portrait mode is to list the songs in the playlist. When flipping to landscape it shows the album covers, but for ALL playlists. Is there any way to go to a playlist and then browse the albums in that list?

I am having the same issue with my iPod too. (Purchased iPod Touch 32 GB 5-15-08)
Everything is okay when the touch is in Portrait mode. However when I turn it to Landscape mode, instead of showing album covers in the particular playlist the song is from, its shows my entire library.
*Is there a way to only show album covers in the playlist, I'm playing from??*
Also, when in Landscape mode and playing from a playlist, the cover art does not flow, until the iPod is placed in portrait mode.

try this:
right-click or crtl-click on one of the downloaded files and choose +open with+, then select other. you will see this window
select QuickTime from the applications folder and check +always open with+.

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields. If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty.

I have a CD "+Cafe Del Mar - Volume 01+". Added songs to Library. Every track has different Artist. So, I have 12 songs with individual Name and Artist. Then have put value "+Volume 01+" as Album in File Info and Album Artist as "+Cafe Del Mar+". This way songs are automatically grouped together whenever I sort my library by Album or Album Artist.
Unfortunately in latter case (sorting by Album Artist) iTunes uses Artist field instead of Song Number within the Album to sort tracks. Here are links to screenshots I made to show what we are talking about here:

I have a lot of music in an iTunes folder on a backup drive. I want to be able to sometimes take some of it and replace the existing music on my iPod. iTunes, however, has organized the music on the backup drive by artist. This is fine for most albums, but for some albums it just creates a mess. For instance, to load a Christmas album where each track is by a different artist, I would have to remember each artist’s name, and use that information to find and load each individual track separately. (This is an especially huge problem for classical albums,where different tracks commonly feature different artists.) I mostly use technology for education and professional audiovisuals and lights.
I don't sync music because I use music from at least 4 different computers. (manually mange music)
I use my iPad to play performance tracks for church and a local gospel group out of our church, Won4Christ.
I chose to buy the iPad because the laptop of one of the group members (dellxps running iTunes) was randomly losing and mixing up music and I wanted a more stable option that was bigger than my iPod touch.
I tried to add some data to music libraries that I previously added to my iPad, but the data only shows up when looking at the device in iTunes.
Wifi sync has not worked on either my laptop or desktop ( both running windows 7 enterprise 64 and newest iTunes) not really a big issue, but very annoying
When browsing through library playlist albums on the iPad, random artwork shows up on playlists with no artwork that you touch while dragging, and it does not go away until you change to another navigation tab and back.
Random songs out of hundreds that I added showed up in iTunes grayed out with a sync circle beside them. Those songs would play back okay on the iPad but were unplayable through the iTunes device view. I had to delete the songs manually through the library along with the playlist and add them again.
These seem to be major stability bugs in the "new" music app and iTunes. My only option right now seems to be to delete the songs that I want to change and re-add them with the changes already applied rather than changing the id3 tags and artwork on the existing music. I hope apple will release updates to resolve these issues.
