Itunes Party Shuffle not Shuffling

I recently moved my music from my PC to my laptop via the iTunes CD Backup. Since then, the iTunes party shuffle, which i use when I'm doing homework won't shuffle the songs, it instead just plays them in alphabetical order by title. how do i change this?

It seems it's even worse. At the bottom of the page, where it says select source, I picked a playlist that has my 5 star rated songs, yet the main list in the shuffle area stubbornly remains the same.

You cannot set them independently, as in iTunes.
You have to turn off Settings - Shuffle and then play the playlist.

Party Shuffle Not Shuffled

Basically... the subject says it all--Party Shuffle won't shuffle my songs. It simply lists my library.
The shuffle button doesn't do anything.

I am having the same problem. Almost all of my library (3003 out of 3070) shows up in Party Shuffle in alphabetical order and the Shuffle button has no effect. I am using iTunes 7.0.2(15) under Mac OS X 10.4.8. I have tried turning Party Shuffle on and off, changing the Source, number of recently played songs and upcoming songs. I've changed the Preferences as to Groups or Songs and even how likely the same artist is played. Iuse this feature all the time and it has worked perfectly up until yesterday (or possibly the day before). No upgrades done in the interim.

Party Shuffle not shuffling all that much

I use the Party Shuffle feature of iTunes a lot while I'm using my iMac. I've noticed, though, that it doesn't shuffle all that much. I've got somewhere around 5,500 tracks in my iTunes library and I seem to get the same handful of albums and tracks coming up with monotonous regularity.
I'm using version 7.5 of iTunes and Shuffle source is set to "Music", SmartShuffle is set to "Less likely" and "Songs" and I have also done the "delete and refresh" solution suggested in other topics on this forum. None of this seems to have made any difference, so can anyone suggest any other options?

Check and make sure that all the tracks in the library have a check mark in the little box to the left of the title. If the boxes aren't checked, iTunes will play only a selected song and then stop. If the boxes are all unchecked, I believe you can check them all at once by control-clicking in one box.

in Party Shuffle, my 'Refresh' button has no effect. The list of tracks is simply an alphabetical list of my library.
changing the 'source' of the tracks has no effect.

i had too many tracks in the list. cleared everything and sarted again worked.

Shuffle not shuffling since last software update

I listen to my music on shuffle, repeat all on a 3GS phone. Since the last update, whenever i pause the music using the headset control, then start up again, the music reverts to the first song played, then plays all the previous songs in the same order as before. If i go in to music on my phone and reselect shuffle, it will start on a new shuffle set but then this will happen the next time i pause play.
Any ideas on how to get it back to proper shuffling so that i don't have to keep listening to the same group of songs over and over?!?

Try your USB cable with another computer/printer. Then try the printer with another computer.

Shuffle not random on Mac

For quite awhile the random shuffle function in iTunes on my Mac stopped working. I have Music selected as my source, and iTunes DJ selected. Under Controls, the Shuffle selection shows Songs, which is what I want, but all the selections are grayed out, so I can't select any of them anyway. I have the latest version of iTunes. Any ideas? Thanks for the suggestions, but these don't solve the problem. Under the Controls setting, Turn on Shuffle is greyed out, as well as By Song, By Album, By Grouping. By Songs does have checkmark. I increased the number of upcoming songs in the Settings box to the maximum, but still iTunes DJ does not "shuffle". I'm getting my songs in complete alphabetical order by playlist. All Beatles songs first, etc.

Has anyone had trouble with the iTunes party shuffle not working? I have unistalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes hoping that would fix the problem but I just keep getting an alphabetical list of my songs in the party shuffle mode.

ITunes Party Shuffle feature not responding

The Party Shuffle feature in iTunes will not respond to any changes I try to make. I tried reinstalling iTunes which did not work. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

For the first time I changed the source from the default smart playlist of 'Top 25 Most Played'. Whichever playlist/library I changed to (including back to the aforementioned), I received the following message:
The playlist "Anylist" does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle. Are you sure you want to choose this playlist?
I've tried dragging tracks to Party Shuffle, which only shows that it won't receive them; I've removed Party Shuffle via Preferences and then added it again, all without affect.
What is wrong and how is it rectified?

I have just had the same problem, although on OS X.
The solution for me was to exit iTunes and then load it again.
I believe that my problem was that when I loaded iTunes, I was not connected to the NAS share with my music. Connecting to that share populated all the play lists correctly but party shuffle did not seem to recognise this.
I am new to OS X after years of DOS/Windows and predecessors and I still find it strange that it will not connect to a share automatically when needed.

ITunes Party Shuffle - Questions

I have read several discussion but have not found one exactly on point with regard to the following:
1. If I choose any Smart List as my source for the shufle (say Hip Hop/Rap), it plays album in their exact orders. It does not shuffle b/w albums. Example: it will play just Beastie Boys.
2. Sometimes when I pick a playlist as the shuffle source, I get the following error message "The playlist __________ does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle." Why? What does this mean?
3. General, non-Party Shuffle question: why is it that in my Library some songs are checked (the box is checked), while other songs are not checked? What is the significance?

1. Check your shuffle settings to make sure you've got them enabled the way you like. Edit > Preferences > Playback You can shuffle by song, artist, or album.
2. Are the songs on this playlist checked? They won't play if they're unchecked.
3. If you want songs to play and be part of shuffle, etc. they need to be checked. ITunes ignores them when they're unchecked.

HT1481 I have an ipod shuffle which i need to reset as i can not sinc it on my laptop which is using windows 8, but when i open itunes i d not have the 'source panel' on the left hand side which should show up my ipod. any ideas what i need to do? please

Hi I have an ipod shuffle which worked well on my old pc but since i have tried to link it with my new laptop I cant get it to sinc. I have athorised the device to my laptop so i thought it maybe worth resetting it but all the info I have read tells me that to reset my ipod i need to open i tunes and on the left hand side in the 'source panel' i will find my ipod listed but when i open itunes i do not have a source panel so i cant reset it. i have spent days trying to get this problem sorted and am about to throw the thing away. I have tried to manually sinc the thing, i have installed and reinstalled the latest version of itunes, i have restarted my laptop but i dont know what to do next. any help would be very much appreciated. However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Is there a way to make itunes see an ipod shuffle it appears in window but not itunes worked for 3 mnoths even though it say itunes is installed correctly then not correctly when you start from the icon

is there a way to have itunes see the ipod shuffle it worked for three months even though when you hit the itune icon it say itunes is not installed correctly. This is after you reload itunes and it say successfull install have removed and reloaded itunes at least 5 times. Apple is of little help have spent hour on thier diagnostics. one thing odd it says to remove a program called quicktime that i never find.

Ipod Shuffle not charging or being detected by computer or Itunes

My Ipod shuffle is less than three months old, and has suddenly quit working. It is not detected by Itunes or the computer, except when it's first plugged in a red light flashes on the Ipod itself, then turns off. I have tried several cables, and I have tried connecting it to multiple computers and USB ports. I have another Ipod that syncs fine with Itunes, so I know Itunes works. Itunes is also updated to the latest version, and I have checked all of the drivers. The Ipod worked fine one day, and the next day, it would not turn on. It was left on a shelf overnight the night it quit working, and has never been exposed to water as far as I know.

I think the trouble-shooting you describe has ruled out a bad USB docking cable, and a problem on the USB port. And since it previously worked with this computer, it's not some incompatibility with software or hardware. Even if there was a software (OS or iTunes) related problem, the shuffle should still charge when connected.
So, if it's not software, the docking cable, or the USB port, the cause is probably a problem on the shuffle (such as the logic board or battery). Since it is less than one-year from purchase date, you should have it checked under warranty. If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the Genius Bar on the store's web page
