ITunes payment methods
I have a simple question. I have an iTunes account that is set up with a credit card for payments. My son recently purchased a gift card and redeemed it and the balance is showing in the iTunes store. The problem is I do not know how to switch payment methods. When I purchase something I want my credit card to be charged and when my son purchases something I want the gift card to be charged. Right now everything is being charged to the gift card. How do I do this?????

He should have created his own iTunes account.
The problem is I do not know how to switch payment methods
You don't switch payment methods. iTunes will use any gift card balance first, then when that runs out, it will use a CC.

Ok..so I originally had my credit card on there, but when it got maxed out, I changed it to a prepaid Visa card that I got for Christmas. The Visa card is now maxed, and my credit card is still maxed, and apple won't show 'NONE' as a payment option. I have had the option available once before, but i have no idea how i did it. How do I get 'none' to show so I can download free apps and update my other ones again? It keeps saying that the card is declined. Well of course it is, it only had $5 left on it, but now that its done with i wanna take it off. I dont have another card to put in its place that would work. How do I reset my iTunes payment method? When I try, I get an error screen.
Due to someone paying me with a bounced check, my bank account became overdrawn. When making a purchase at the App Store, my bank account's overdrawn status made my Paypal account overdrawn. I've since resolved the situation with my bank, and my account is good now. But when I try to update my iPhone, I get an error screen telling me Paypal isn't accepted on this phone. I went to PayPal and paid with a different bank account to get out of the negative balance there, but my iPhone won't let me update my payment method. Help!

I guess I have more then one Apple ID accounts and I own a little money on both and I am willing to pay and when I try to update and put my new payment method in my iPhone it tells me I need to contact iTunes support, the apple id I'm useing now is xxxxxxx and I know that I had one with xxxxxxx but apple won't let me use that one anymore it just say account nolonger promitted. Please help

i created a new apple id and as my billing info i put in my itunes card number. i still have $18 dollars left in the account but it wont let me buy anything else because it constantly asks for my billing info and i now put none as my payment method. how can i buy stuff again?

Change your payment information on a Mac or PC
Click to open your account in iTunes (you may need to sign in with your Apple ID), or follow these steps:
Open iTunes and click iTunes Store.
Click Sign In and enter your Apple ID.
Click your Apple ID and select Account.
From the Account Information page, click Edit to the right of Payment Type.
You can see the payment methods that the iTunes Store accepts in the Payment Type section.
If you want to remove the payment method, select None in the Payment Type section. See what to do if None isn't showing or you can't select it.
Change your information and click Done.

can't download anything from app store or itunes. everytime i try to install an app i get this error "there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. please update ur payment method". i have recently changed my visa debit card and home adress and when i make these changes i still get the same error.
will u please help me out?Are you listing the billing address for the card correctly? The address in the iTunes/MAS account must match the address on your bill exactly.

While trying to change my Credit Card info: The app store tells me that my payment method information does not match my bank records and to try again or enter a new payment method. My CC is valid and its the same CC ive had for a while. This CC info works for iTunes but is not being accepted for the App store.I have changed this info online but cannot change it on my iPhone. You need to immediately pull credit reports to see what else he has done. Then "freeze" the credit report at all three agencies. That way even you need to lift the freeze to add credit cards or other credit items to your SSN.

I had the same problem and found a bunch of others did, too. Unfortunately all the posts had no responses! Anyway, I previously had my payment method linked to my paypal. I tried changing it to my credit card and it worked. Don't know if there's a bug with using paypal but that seemed to be the culprit for me. Good luck!

Yup, I'm a Kiwi, living in sunny Blenheim. Just seems odd that I can use Amex for purchasing in the Apple store but not in the iTunes store. Perhaps the higher charge set by Amex is not economic for small purchases? Anyway,

it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
