ITunes playback video issues?

Hi.
When I play a video, then I click the green "plus" button on the top-left corn of the window of the iTunes, the iTunes goes to mini player, then I continues to listen the music, when I reclick the green "plus" button, the picture will fast forward style play to the current music playback position. Even I click pause button, the picture still fast forward. Cool, Huh?
So? Whats going on?
Ace

Further addendum to this issue.  I have gone into the directory for my itunes and using quicktime if I play a show in HD I get the same video issue, if I use the SD version it plays fine.  Any ideas what would do this?

  • Itunes playback performance issue

All my iTunes library files are kept on the Airport extreme and so every time I play a movie, it skips, stutters, loses sound here and there, it's getting quite annoying. I noticed that if a movie is projected to the big screen using apple TV, it will buffer like a youtube video and plays absolutely fine. Also, if I go directly to the folder and right-click on the file, play with VLC, there is no problem. It would appear to me that the problem is with iTunes' playback of videos on my Airport Extreme.
Does anybody have the same problem and is there a solution?

I can only offer you a sympathetic shoulder to cry on.
I'm not using an air disk. I'm using a hard drive on an old G3 that I use to serve my music library to my laptop as a wander throughout the house. I have it set up this way because I also have the G3 hooked up to a stereo system that can pump music to various locations of the house. So both machines need access to the library, as well as the playlists, rating histories, playback counts, etc., so that my smart playlists can have the same data to work from.
Anyway, I'm having this same issue. Both computers are constantly wanting to scan for gapless playback. I've let them both finish scanning my entire library numerous times, but it doesn't help, they want to scan it again and again, every time I launch iTunes. If I cancel the process, it will likely try to start again a few minutes later.
This only happened after I installed iTunes 9. I'm ripping my hair out over this issue. Give me back the music library that I know and love please.

  • Playback & Video issues since CUDA upgrade

I'm on a 2014 Retina MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.2.
Two days ago the CUDA Preferences panel said there was an upgrade, and installed CUDA Driver Version 6.5.36.
Since then, I'm getting lousy playback performance ... video is not smooth, playhead jumps around, often the whole screen or portions appear "scrambled." (see source monitor in attachment)
This 'scrambling' occurs OUTSIDE of Premiere as well.
When I tried to do an export with Media Encoder, my whole system started 'freezing' for 5 seconds every 2 seconds ... to the point where even the mouse cursor was unresponsive.
    Had to force restart.
In Activity Monitor "aerendercore" shows as "not responding" around 10 times a day.
Premiere crashes 2-3 times a day.
I checked nvidia website, and they had a 6.5.37. Installed that, but same issues.
I tried changing the Mercury Playback Engine to OpenCL and to Software Only -- but that didn't help.
CUDA Panel also says "GPU Driver Version" is "10.2.1 310.41.15f01" ... not sure if that is something that can be updated.
    I'm rebooting 4-5 times a day.
Not sure what to do ... is anyone else having these issues?
Should I downgrade the CUDA Driver?
Update: I found this post where someone reports a similar issue but with now solution:
Yosemite NVIDIA issue on MacPro 5,1 | Apple Support Communities

@jstawen -- I don't know what any of that means! I'm just wondering if OpenCL still uses the nvidia card in my machine, or the Intel...
I tried rendering a timeline ... with CUDA, 50 seconds.
WIth OpenCL ... jerky progress for 90 seconds, then CRASH, "We're sorry, Premiere has died..."
    (Twice)
    This is ridiculous.
Should I edit in OpenCL then switch to CUDA?!?!
Feature request: hot key to toggle between the two!
    ARG!

  • ITunes 8-video issue

OK, so I reinstalled iTunes 8 again, hoping that an issue I had with it when it first came out was fixed (I had gone back to iTunes 7).
Anyway I have 2 computers. I purchase music and video from both computers. I move them to my iPod and transfer purchases to my main computer (home) so that I do have a consolidated library.
So anyway, I downloaded some TV shows on my work computer and tried to move them to my iPod this morning but they would not transfer and I got this message:
"The iPod "Jeremy's iPod" is currently linked to another iTunes library. In order to copy the selected videos to this iPod, you must link this iPod with this iTunes library. Doing this will remove 9 videos from this iPod."
Another note, music transfers just fine. This issue is isolated to video.
And a final note, I have sent 3 messages to Apple, but no one has been able to solve my issue. Should I go back to iTunes 7 again?

UPDATE: This behavior (to an extent) still happens when "Repeat Album" is off. Instead of an infinite loop, it goes through all the tracks on the album (unsuccessfully) and kicks me out to the Album overview screen. Going back to list of Albums and tapping the Album again brings up "No Content: You can download music from the iTunes Store" but that screen immediately kicks me back to list of Albums.
So I am just even more confused now.

  • ITunes Music Video Issues

I am having an issue and I am not sure if it is common or may be a bug in iTunes.
I have about 100 music videos on my iTunes. All of them minus one are YouTube rips/encodes via iSquint or rips from DVDs via HandBrake. One of them is a Vingle purchased off the iTMS. I have all of the vids in their own playlist and this problem only happens in the playlist. If I have the Control settings set with Shuffle on, then the only song that will get played is the Vingle. If I press skip, it just continues to play the Vingle over and over again. If I start with another track then either skip or let it go on its own, the next song played is always the Vingle and once again, skip just restarts the Vingle. However, if Random is turned off, they play fine and it goes though each song in order as it should.
I am using the most recent version of iTunes.
What exactly is going on here?
    TIA

Sounds as if you have the "Skip when shuffling option" turned on for most of the music videos.
Go to Get Info>Options and uncheck "Skip when shuffling".

  • ITunes U video playback constantly freezes

I have 64Gb iphone 4S with plenty of free space.  iTunes U video (a Yale course in this case) constantly freezes during playback.  The video is downloaded onto the iphone, not streamed.  I do not have this problem playing the video through the video app.  I would like to be able to use the iTunes U app.  Anyone else having this problem?

Try updating to the new iTunes U app that was released today.
If that doesn't work, try testing other Yale course videos and other iTunes U videos.

Does the new Itunes 8 fix the slow playback speed issues whenever you are downloading music or a podcast within Itunes?

For the record, the reported issue seems to have been solved.

  • ITunes / Quicktime Video Problems With Windows VISTA

I took up Windows Vista as soon as it was available and initially had no problems with iTunes. Then later, video clips (those purchased from iTunes and those I had converted myself) started stuttering / freezing and eventually crashing iTunes and finally I lost audio as well.
Ayyway to cut a long story short, I have uninstalled / re-installed Vista now about eight times for problems with installing drivers for USB devices (I've finally solved all these problems). After the last install the first program I installed was iTunes, tried video and it worked flawlessly. Then, each time I added a hardware device or program I would restart Vista and retry iTunes video.
The first item I added was a USB thumb drive (as I had on all previous occasions to take advantage of Vista's 'Ready Boost'). The thumb drive is a 'Sony 2GB micro vault tiny', and meets the transfer speed requirements for 'Ready Boost', as soon as I had set the drive up for 'Ready Boost' I started having the same problems with iTunes video and Quicktime.
Removed the thumb drive, restarted iTunes and had flawless video playback again. Have tried this over and over with the same result.
So my question is, has anyone else had video playback problems with iTunes / Vista and found similar problems. Trying to tie down whether this is a compatability problem with 'Ready Boost' or the thumb drive used. I have also tried a Sandisk Titanium 2GB with the same result.
I am not sure exactly how 'Ready Boost' works, I thought it added memory that was used to cache page files to the thumb drive instead of to the HDD making a faster seek /access time? Which should make things faster. Another article I read today was talking about 'Ready Boost' being an affordable extension to RAM, in this case I could understand the problem as I would think the access to a USB 2.0 thumbdrive would be slower than that to RAM.
Any help appreciated, but I guess my bottom line is anytime I want to watch video on iTunes, I just pull the USB thumb drive .
PC Pentium 4   Other OS   Windows Vista Home Premium

I have the same stuttering video issues with iTunes and Vista. While I have used a thumb drive to transfer files (not Sony) I have not yet messed with Ready boost. I have seen several others complain about the video problem, perhaps they will chime in as well. Unfortunately, your solution doesn't work for me. I pretty much ignore iTunes, waiting for the next version (only god knows when it will be released).
I do have an external firewire drive connected, I'll disconnect later today and see if that has any affect.

  • ICloud says my iTunes purchased video is 'ineligible'

I have a bunch of music videos purchased on iTunes, and one of them doesn't get recognized: "Mas que Nada (feat. the Black Eyed Peas)" by Serio Mendes. The video is within the size limit and I have several similar ones from the same artist that work fine with iCloud. I am using Mac OS X Lion and the latest iTunes. The video was purchased a few years ago through my Apple TV and does not seem to appear in the iTunes store anymore. I don't care if it isn't recognized as "Purchased" but at least it should be backed up in iCloud. What's the problem? How do I solve it?

  • Itune music videos display no images but flashing vivid coloured background

Having upgraded to itunes 7.1 sometime ago I cannot see me existing music videos or even new ones that I purchase. The screen only shows a vivid coloured background, sometimes flashing effect, but not a single image, despite hearing the chosen song ok. Whats the problem, dvd's I play are OK

    (Sorry about barging in, Timmy.)
+The screen only shows a vivid coloured background, sometimes flashing effect, but not a single image, despite hearing the chosen song ok.+
With those symptoms, especially if the colors are pink, purple or green, the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section from the following document is worth a try:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows XP and 2000 video playback performance issues
But by all means, if there are newer video drivers available for your video card or display adaptor then it's worth upgrading them (as Timmy suggests) to see if you can still get good video with the Direct3D acceleration enabled.

  • ITunes 7.0 issue

I recently updated my iTunes to version 7.0
It seems that I can no longer play the music on my iPod via my laptop.
As it is a work laptop, I do not store music on it, so cannot sync.
iTunes v6 allowed the play back remotely from the iPod, but v7.0 just has all the files on the ipod greyed out and not playable.
Does anyone know if this is a defect or intentional?
    PC   Windows XP Pro

    iTunes 7.0 upgrade
PROBLEM: playback of SOUND and VIDEO completely distorted, scratchy, skipping, cracking (like an old used 45 stored in a box of sand for 50 years).
Audio card: Creative SB can't find model.
    Attempted:
    re-installed drive on sound card.
QT 7.0 Pro - preferences, audio tab, change the hertz number and bit number, different combo's. Not certain what combo and what values of each will work. (ANYONE CAN SUGGEST SETTINGS?)
Result: funny thing: after changing the Hertz and Bit rate a number of times, it worked...for several seconds into playback of songs - then back to that old 45rpm VINYL sound quality!!! Argh.
VIDEO playback in iTunes 7.0 is also HOSED.
Play "movies" imported to iTunes under 6.0 Quicktime: they play, but screen is chopped up into little boxes (frames) of video, distortion. Note: downloaded Podcast video, it worked fine. However, prchased iTunes music videos don't playback - same issue as above. I need to play again with QT 7.0 Pro settings.
