  • Can I transfer an iTunes movie rental from one computer to another?

A movie I rented on one PC with iTunes Windows won't transfer to my main PC.  I'm using the latest version of iTunes and Windows 7.
I also have an iPhone 4s with iOS 6.  I can't transfer the movie rental there either.
(I want the movie on my main PC, because only that PC will show it on my TV.  Both PC's are suthorized.
    Help!

Sorry, but rentals cannot be transferred from one computer to another. Unless someone's found a trick I haven't seen, if you want the rental on your main PC, you'll have to pay to rent it again. As to transferring the rental to your iPhone, see:

  • Can I transfer a itunes gift card from one computer to another?

My son has a itunes account set up on one computer, but now that computer has issues. We managed to set up another account for him on our main computer, but he wants to transfer the itunes gift card money from the messed up computer to our main one that his new account is set up on.  Can this be done? And how can we do it?
    Thanks

The iTunes gift card money can't be transferred between iTunes Store accounts. Log into the old iTunes Store account and stop using the new one.

  • Home Sharing - how to get music files to transfer from one computer to another...

I have two computers in my home authorised for Home Sharing - I have no problems locating the other library on either of my computers. However, when I am on iTunes in Computer A and I click onto Computer B's music library (so that I can transfer music file to Computer A) I am unable to move Computer B's music into Computer A. I have both iTunes open on each computer and ther are both using the same Wifi connection.
    In iTunes Help, it says:
         - select the music files that I want to share into Computer A. (this bit I can do).
         - in the 'show' menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, select 'items not in my library'. This is where I run into trouble - there does not appear to be any such menu!
         - select items I wish to import, then click on 'import'. - again, no such button appears to exist!
I have updated my iTunes software to the latest version available on both computers. This is very frustrating for something that should be quite simple - I would very much appreciate any suggestions or solutions...

    Hi arastis10,
If you are having issues transfering songs between computers set up for Home Sharing, you may find the following articles helpful:
    Apple Support: Understanding Home Sharing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819
With Home Sharing, you can stream music and video from one authorized computer to another, or simply drag music between computer libraries. You can also choose to have iTunes automatically import purchases you make on any of your Home Sharing computers to your own library. To do so, select the library and use the Settings button at the lower right of the iTunes window to check what you'd like copied.

  • ITunes full transfer from one Mac to another - Help Please

Good morning, I have searched for this answer prior to this post however I have not found the specific scenario that I am asking a question about and would like some direction if possible, so any assistance is greatly appreciated and I thank all who can help ahead of time.
I have a Macbook Pro laptop that I currently have my entire music library loaded on, iPhone, iPad, and iPod synced to.  I have all of my purchases, downloads, etc. for these devices all synced up to this laptop.  I have a second MacBook Pro (newer) that I have been using side by side but have never transferred any of my library, iOS device syncs, etc. to it.  I have literally never used iTunes on my newer Macbook Pro.  I am going to be getting rid of my old laptop and want to make sure that everything gets transferred over to the new laptop.
The 3 main things that I need to do properly are as follows.
    1) Transfer all music/videos/playlists from my old mac to new Mac.
    2) Make sure that my iOS devices sync properly and recognize the new Mac as their "owner" or "main computer" for syncing.
    3) Deactivate old Mac iTunes or iOS devices in iTunes or whatever I need to do before wiping this computer out and rebuilding it to "decommission" it.
I just want to make sure that if iTunes takes a "seat" for my username, that this Mac's "seat" is freed up for use by my new Mac and I want to make sure that my iOS devices are going to sync up properly with the new Mac as they did with my old.
I am very sorry if these have been covered before (they likely have I'm sure) however as I said, I wasn't able to find the information specific to my needs, so even if you just point me in the right direction, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you again.

    3) Downloaded all purchassed items on destination computer.
Don't need this as your purchases are in the iTunes folder you copy across in step 4.
    4) Replaced entire Music folder on destination computer with source computer's Music folder
This copied over the files you downloaded step 3.

  • How do I move iTunes music content from one computer to another?

I need to move iTunes content from an older MacBook, which serves as the music source for our audio system, to a new Mac mini, which will now do the same.
I know to move the folder in the music folder but I would like to make certain the playlists are moved in conjunction with the move so I don't have to recreate the playlists on the new mini.
I can't find any information on how to do this in the faqs, in the Take Control books, or the latest system manuals.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Moving an iTunes Movie Rental from one computer to another

    How do I do it?
When I try to play it on the second computer, I get the message:
"Cannot play rental because it is authorized for playback on another computer or device." or similar.
    Thanks!

According to the documentation I found today... after a lot of digging.
"You can only play your rented movies on the computer you rented it from and only if it is authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases and rentals."
This is an extremely bad user experience. I now have 2 rentals on my work mac that I can't play at home as I intended. Didn't anyone think that users would download with their fastest network? Users should be abel to play rentals on of their five authorized machines. I was considering an iTV setup, not any more.
And watching a movie on an iPhone... what a waste!

  • How do I transfer from one computer to another?

    Good afternoon.
I just purchased a new computer with the new iweb 09. My website is up and running and was created with my mac air computer. Now I want to transfer the air file to my desktop iweb program. Your assistance would be very much appreciated.
I have downloaded from my mobile me account my website information. How do I open this with my iweb 09 so I can resume updating my website?
Thank you for your patience and thank you for your help.
    Stan

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu on the old computer, provide ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ as the path, and move the Domain item to the corresponding location on the new computer.

  • Changing iTunes and files from one computer to another

Recently, I sent all of the files that I had in iTunes through my wireless network to my upstairs computer. Then I deleted the files that I had downstairs. I didnt realize that it didnt send my filesharing files, like my Ares music. So I just re-downloaded the songs that I did not get from the file sending, into my current iTunes. When I tried to sync my iPod this morning with my new computer, it would say that it was updating on the iPod and iTunes, but nothing would happen. I thought it maybe was because I dont have the exact songs that I have on my iPod now, and maybe iTunes cant remove songs from the iPod? Anyone know what could be wrong? I cant figure out how to get my songs from my new iTunes onto my iPod that has never been synced on this computer. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • What is the best way to transfer from one computer to another?

In the next couple weeks, I'm going to be buying a MacBook Pro. I want to transfer my whole library (with all rolls, albums, slideshows, etc) intact. What is the best way to do this? I assume it's as easy as copying the whole iPhoto Library Folder, correct? Should I copy the iPhoto .plist files as well?
    Thanks

    Daniel:
You're right about what to copy. Just the entire iPhoto Library folder into the Pictures folder on the new MBP. I'd also download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. This is just a little insurance that the ownership and permissions are set correctly after the transfer. INo need copy the preference file as one will be generated when you first open iPhoto on the MPB and the file paths in it will be unique to the current Mac. Best to start with a new one.

  • Transfer from one computer to another

I am trying to transfer my photos (about 3900) from my iMac with iPhoto 4 (4.0.3) to my new iMac with iPhoto 08 v7.1.4. I have used a memory stick to move the photos and now find that the dates are all muddled and many dates are now incorrect.
I have also tried downloading some new photos today and the date shown is 04/01/04 to 05/01/04.
    Can you help me please?

You were right - the date on my camera was incorrect! Have changed that! Will also check the other camera that we use. This certainly will resolve new downloads.
I was seeing the dates in the iPhoto window.
This does not necessarily resolve the muddled pictures as they are in the correct order on the older iMac.
Can I correct dates on photos? Can I reorder the photos?

  • Moving Movie Rentals from one computer to another

Is there a way to transfer an iTunes movie rental from one computer to another. I purchased it on one laptop but wish to play the movie on another laptop. It does not show up in the list on the other computer even though it is a shared laptop

Sorry, but transferring a rental from one computer to another is not possible, at least not directly. It might be possible by transferring the rental to an iPod/iPhone and then transferring back to the second computer, though I don't know for sure.

  • How can I transfer my iTunes library and playlists from one computer to another?

How can I transfer my iTunes library and playlists from one computer to another?

Copy the iTunes folder (Mac: Home\Music or PC: My Music) to the same location on the new computer. If an iTunes folder already exists on the new computer (it will on a Mac) replace it with one you copied.
