  • ITunes plays songs but iPod mini skips whole songs

I have an iPod mini with the latest version (1.4) as well as the latest version of iTunes for Windows. I have imported songs into iTunes and they play fine, they also seem to upload to my iPod just fine. But when I go to play these certain songs on my iPod it skips right over them. It shows the song and acts like its about to play but just as it should start playing it skips to the next song. Anyone heard of this?

Hi Josh and welcome to Apple Discussions.
First, make sure you've played at least some of the purchased song in iTunes to authorize it.
If you've played them in iTunes and the still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then to re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, then the computer will be authorized again. Sync you iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes. If you don't have the latest, you can get it from here.

  • IPod 5th gen won't play purchased tracks - my solution

    Hey folks;
I recently came across the same problem some of you experienced. I bought a new iPod 5G and sync'd it with my iTunes music library. All my mp3-files and podcasts played fine but my purchased tracks were simply skipped by my iPod.
iTunes played them fine; just the iPod wouldn't.
Here's what I did to resolve the situation.
    0. Make sure you have a backup-copy of the music files in your library. If not - do not proceed. // Write down which podcasts you have subscribed to.
    1. Deauthorize your computer
    2. Uninstall iTunes using the control panel in windows
    3. Uninstall Quicktime Player
4a. Run "regedit.exe" and make sure all registry-keys regarding apple have been removed from "HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc."
4b. If they're still there; remove them (Right-click; select "Delete" and click Yes)
    5. Delete the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\<YOURUSERNAME>\Application Data\Apple Computer" if its still present
    6. Reboot
    7. Re-install iTunes
    8. Re-import your music into itunes from the backup-location, resubscribe to your podcasts and play a purchased song to re-authorize your computer.
    9. Plug-in iPod and have fun.
This worked for me. So I'm just glad, that my iPod wasn't defective.

forgive me for my apparent stupidity, but I am not much of an IT person.
when you say to back up the music library, do you mean the itunes library or the ipod library? I have cleared my itunes library (to keep space on my pc free) and only have music saved on the ipod.

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?

  • Why will some M4A songs will not play on my iPhone 4s?  They play just fine in iTunes and on my iPod Nano.

I bought my first iPhone on Saturday. After syncing all of my iTunes music to my brand new iPhone 4s, I soon realised that a great deal of m4a files would just not play. If I did attempt to play one of these tracks, it would just skip to the next one.
What really perplexes me is that all of my iTunes music plays without a problem in iTunes.  On top of this, ALL of my music plays on my iPod Nano.  Why is this just happening on my iPhone 4s?
Is this something to do with iOS 5?  Will an update fix it?
    Please can someone help!?!?

An exclamation mark means that it doesn't know where you moved the music to.  To fix this, click on the exclamation point and when it asks you to browse to the location where you moved it to, use the normal commands to go up and down folders in your external drive until you find the song.  Repeat as necessary.

Have you tried resetting your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPod Nano skips certain songs

My iPod Nano, version 1.0.2 Mac, model MD480LL, skips a handful of specific songs. When listening to music, one of these songs comes up for half a second and then skips to the next song, whether on shuffle or not. When I select one of these songs from the menu it does the same thing. These certain songs do not play on my iPod Nano at all. However, they play perfectly fine on my iMac, iPad, iPhone, and even my old 2nd gen iPod touch. My Nano is the only one that has this problem. I have tried restarting the Nano and restoring it, and the same songs still won't play. I've tried everything I could think of. I've serached through countless forums and have found many people with similar problems (but none exactly like mine) and I have tried every suggestion in each of these forums and none have helped. If you have any suggestions, any ideas at all, please don't hesitate to share.

First off, does your iPod only skip on songs that you have purchased from the iTunes Store? Or does it vary from some of those purchases, to some songs from CD's you've imported?
Also, does there seem to be a pattern, where your iPod only skips on particular songs, or is it ever-changing; for example, a few songs skipped yesterday, and now they don't skip anymore, but are replaced by different songs.
Have you tried restoring your iPod? For more info, take a look here -> Restoring your iPod to Factory Settings
If that attempt doesn't work, then try turning off your iPod's EQ settings.
Go to "Settings > EQ" on your iPod. If you currently have a specific option set (i.e., "Treble Booster", "Vocal"), then try switching your setting to "Off".
    See if that changes anything.
One last question: are the songs playing fine in iTunes, although they may not be playing well on your iPod?

  • Why does my 16gb 6th generation ipod nano skip and stutter during playback?

Why does my 16gb 6th generation ipod nano skip and stutter during playback?

    Try a hard reset first.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button
until the screen goes dark. The Apple logo appears after a few seconds,
    and then the Home screen.
If that doesn't work, try a restore of the device in iTunes.
Otherwise, does this skipping and stuttering only happen with certain tracks?  What format are these tracks in and where they come from (outside of iTunes or from the iTunes store itself)?

  • How do i delete music from my itunes account and my ipod nano 3rd gen

how do i delete music from my itunes account and my ipod nano 3rd gen

Are you wanting to delete it all or just certain tracks and content?
    If it's the latter...
How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to receive content from your iTunes library whether that be via automatic syncing or manual management.
For automatic syncing, you must reconfigure your settings so that the album/tracks/content you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod.  Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
If that isn't the case, you'll want to look at the iPod's Music configuration tab.  You can access this tab by selecting your iPod under Devices. This should bring you to theSummary tab over to the right.  Look for the Music tab along the top and select it.  Here you can configure how and what music syncs to your device.  If you make any changes to this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the updated changes to your device.
Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents, you must manually remove content from it.  You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will open up a submenu of content that is indented underneath the name of your device, so go ahead and click on Music (or whatever content you are wanting to remove).  Locate the track or tracks/content you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.

  • Why does my artwork disappear from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it disappears.

Why does my artwork keep disappearing from my ipod?   It's all visible in itunes, but on the ipod nano it when I copy over new albums with artwork, the artwork on the albums already on the ipod lose theirs, although they retain the artwork if viewed through itunes.
In case it matters, I don't "sync" my "library".  I have a I have a PC and copy over directories containing albums of MP3 files by dragging them onto the ipod with itunes.  I also tried pulling over only the files and not the directories.

OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem.  I did a "restore", wiping out the contents.  I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist".   Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod.  Every song and album now had the proper album art.  I could live with this.   Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced".  The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork.  The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which.  AARGH.   I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover.   I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

  • Since the new software update I am no longer able to syn my itunes playlist to my ipod nano.  Everything that has been put online since Nov 2014 is not helping, any suggestions?

iTunes latest update has now stopped my ability to sync a specified playlist from my iTunes library to my ipod nano.
All suggestions on line since Novemeber 2014 have not seemed similar to my nano - it is 16gb and very old, not sure what generation.
The screen on this one is long an rectangle and not a touch screen.  A round disk that you run your thumb around has e menu, forward, backward and play/stop button, hope this helps you know which one I am referring to.
Also any iTunes help for my device so far has not addressed and update and how to now use my device.

Okay - let's cut to the chase...
If the Menu Bar (File, Edit... Help) shown in my screenshot below is not visible, use CTRL+B to display it. Then click on Help/Check for Updates. If one is available, you will be able to select it at this time.
Note the item at the bottom of the list; About iTunes. Selecting that will show you which version of iTunes you are using.
An alternative method to display the Menu Bar is click on the box in the top left of your iTunes window...

  • ITunes will not recognise iPod Nano

Just purchased an iPod nano and cannot get iTunes or iPod Updater to recognise the device. Windows does see the iPod and I can open iPod folder via explorer.
I went through all troubleshooting procedures at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod "start-to-finish" twice including the MSConfig steps. same result.
Are there any known issues running Win XP Pro with the Ipod Nano?
Are there any other means to load music to the iPod besides iTunes?
    Thanks.
