Itunes plays songs; skips/repeats 10 seconds in

Okay at first I thought it was just something weird with my mp3 files...
But now this has happened to over 6 of my songs.
For some reason, the song will start; and it'll play until 10 seconds; and then skip to the beginning again.
Does anyone know anything about this?

I'm having a similar problem with a couple of songs so far. They stop after 45 seconds and go to the next song.

  • Itunes plays song for 10 seconds then skips to next song and so on....

    Hey Everyone
I recently acquired a macbook (love it). However I have one issue, I imported all my music off my windows formatted ipod, and then formatted my Ipod for Mac. Everything plays fine, however I have one major issue. Some (not all) of the songs in itunes play for about 10 seconds and then jump to the next song. if I skip ahead past this 10 second barrier, the song plays fine . This happens on my itunes as well as my ipod.
    Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

now when i play back in itunes (v10.6.1)
Doublechecking ... do you still get that if you update to iTunes 10.6.3.25?

  • My itunesradio is only playing songs for 30 seconds or less how is that possible??

help, My itunesradio is only playing songs for 30 seconds or less how is that possible??

    Hey there,
It sounds like you are using iTunes Radio, and the songs only play for 30 seconds or so. I recommend starting by signing out of the iTunes Store:
Choose Store > Sign In (or Sign Out).
From: iTunes 11 for Mac: Manage your iTunes Store account
              http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12299
    Then restart your computer:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
From: OS X Mountain Lion: Restart your computer
              http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10991
Then sign back in and test the iTunes Radio again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Ipod cutting off songs. itunes plays songs just fine. not using "match."

ipod cutting off songs. itunes plays songs just fine. not using "match."
    reformatted ipod, resynced, same problem.
    help!

I have also had the same problem...
The songs appear to be random, and when I plug my iPod into the computer it is fixed. Sure enough, a monthish later, it happens again.
When my songs get cut off, they are stopped exactly half-way through. Apparently, the iPod thinks that is how long they are, because it plays the time that it shows (the total time only goes to helf of what it normally is).
This does not seem to be a matter of old software, as I am always up-to-date on iPod software, and this has been happening to me with version 1.4.1
I have not Restored my iPod, but apparently that will not help (according to the other posts).
I hope somebody can answer this (although I've posted it twice before with no luck, so...)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

  • IPod skips final minutes of a song; but iTunes plays song OK.

Sorry if this has been discussed before; I tried to find a similar topic but couldn't find anything. It if has been discussed before, please direct me to the thread.
One particular song on my iPod never plays the final minutes - play always stops at exactly same point (more than a minute to the end), playcount is incremented, and next song is played. It always happens to this particular same song, that is never played to the end.
I have already checked if any stop time is checked for the song but nothing is marked.
iTunes plays the song correctly up to the last second.
    I appreciate your help.

Hi there, thought I'd share my ipod nightmare that may or may shed some light on problems of skipping/jumping.
I corrupted my database on the ipod and the only program I found that would display/backup the songs is ipod access (http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/index.html) - as I only keep music on my ipod to save space on my computer - and even that kept on crashing, so I backed up one album at a time. 5 hours later...
So I did a restore, this time mac formatted not PC to the 1.3 firmware. Chucked the songs back on and most of the songs would skip/jump....oh yay.
Trawled through lots of threads - eg firmware, defrag issues etc... and thought the best was to revert back to 1.2.1 firmware and zero the data - as there is no conclusion what is the problem.
So this is what I did:
    1. Erased ipod with Disk Utility using the zero out data option (in security options) - this takes about 1.5 hrs.
    2. Deleted the 1.3 firmware files (ipsw and signature file located in (user)>library>itunes>ipod software updates.
    3. downloaded the 1.2.1 ipsw and sig files and put them in the above directory.

    4. disconnected from the internet (so it doesn't update to the 1.3 firmware) and restored the ipod. (might have to download the 1.2.1 firmware/updater - can't quite remember sorry - maybe included in the above files)
Ipod is all sweet now. Think I will buy a esata drive for backup now and also read more before I push that yearning update button.
    Good Luck.

  • Playing shared music - plays 2 songs then repeats second song before next

I'm running iTunes 7.0.1 on a mac mini (core duo) and am attempting to play albums from a shared library I have on a windows machine. iTunes plays 2 or 3 songs from the selected album, then repeats the second (or third) of the 2 (or 3) songs before moving on to the next one...after another 2 songs, the same thing happens. I don't have this issue playing the same shared library from my iBook. I've noticed that prior to moving to the next song a window pops up on the mini saying "opening URL"; this doesn't happen (at least that I've noticed) on the iBook.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Mac: iBookG4, Mini; Windows: homebrew   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

OK, I figured out the answer to my question: I switched the drive with my iTunes library on it to an old box running Windows 2000...everything's fine now, and both the mini and iBook are happy. Doesn't make sense, but nothing ever does with Windows.

  • ITunes plays songs but iPod mini skips whole songs

I have an iPod mini with the latest version (1.4) as well as the latest version of iTunes for Windows. I have imported songs into iTunes and they play fine, they also seem to upload to my iPod just fine. But when I go to play these certain songs on my iPod it skips right over them. It shows the song and acts like its about to play but just as it should start playing it skips to the next song. Anyone heard of this?

Hi Josh and welcome to Apple Discussions.
First, make sure you've played at least some of the purchased song in iTunes to authorize it.
If you've played them in iTunes and the still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then to re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, then the computer will be authorized again. Sync you iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes. If you don't have the latest, you can get it from here.

  • Itunes plays songs, but ipod doesn't

I am having a huge problem with my ipod! This is since I uploaded my songs to my computer and back to my ipod using eph pod. All of my songs seem to be on the ipod in formats that are okay, ie mp3 or m4p, but most of them are skipped by the ipod when I try to play them. All except for the mp3 files. I can't sync or anything like that, because i don't keep my music library on my computer, I backed it up to CDs. But when I plug my ipod into my computer, itunes plays ALL of the songs just fine. What should I do!!!!!
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
I'm just going to give you a quick how to... so here it goes.
    1. Back up all your songs into a folder on your computer.
    2. Install iTunes 7 www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and all relevant updates.
    3. Once that is done, use the backup/format install tool inside iTunes 7, comes up when you connect the iPod.
    4. Then add items to your library again, and transfer them to the iPod.
Basically reformatting the iPod shoudl work. Make sure the the songs definatly play in iTunes and dont skip. You could find that the iPod has disk errors.
Let me know how it goes.

Hey folks, I am having a problem with sound. I am running a Windows 64-bit Vista on a HP desktop. I contacted Apple and they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes and it didn't work. All the songs and videos will play in my Itunes but there is no sound. I have downloaded the newest version of Itunes. Any suggestions?

  • Playing song keeps repeating

Hi .. when I play a song in iTunes or on my iPod Touch the selected song keeps repeating no matter what Playlist I use. It simply won't move to the next song automatically.
    What have I done?
What do I need to do to fix this?
I have gone between shuffle and not shuffle, tried the Controls - Repeat menu but commands are greyed out. What to do? Thank you in advance.

    This can possibly help: http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-229644.html

  • My ipod nano 6 quits playing songs every few seconds

my ipod nano 6 quits playing songs and shuts off every few seconds. any ideas?  don't know how to delete this, but i've found my answer from previous discussion.  It was the headphone jack not completely in

Then back it up and do a restore.  If that does not work and if you are still under warranty, call Apple tech support or take the iPod to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • ITunes plays songs in the wrong order

For the past few weeks iTunes has insisted on jumping all over the place when playing songs. It plays randomly, but only from the same artist. If I'm playing an album, it doesn't go automatically from track 1 to 2, but seems to select the next track completely randomly.
I've tried sorting the songs by artist, track number, album etc. but the problem persists. Yesterday I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, but that didn't help either.
Thanks in advance for advice and help!

I use iTunes and built in look up as well and it sort my library in album order. However this is assuming you sort the library by artist (click on the artist heading to sort by artist). And then within artist is will sort by album name alphabetically and within each album by album order.
Just checked and if I sort my library by album, albums get listed in alphabetical order but again, within the album it is in album order.
Grace Notes (CDDB) should fill in the track number and total number of tracks for you automatically.
So back to your last question, I am not sure what you mean exactly. Are we talking about sorting the library as a whole or do you mean specifically within Playlists?

  • Itunes playing songs i didnt

i was looking at my recently played smart playlist and it said that i had played songs that i most certainly didnt. This was before i plugged my ipod in to get it updated. The first time this happened, it had played an album straight through, except the time displayed was three hours in the future. I checked my computer's time settings and everything, but there was no way i could have played this album at 10:40 when it was only 7:00 (it still had the same date as that day). This wouldnt really bother me except it's meesing up my play counts, and I'm really anal about my play counts. Also, it's just so weird and freaky in a twilight zone way how itunes says i played songs that i didnt. i browsed the boards, but no one else seems to have this problem. Anyone who knows how to fix it please help.
and i definitely have the latest version of itunes.

Yeah, I had some song a while back that said it played in the year 2038.
The ITL file was obviously messed up. I deleted that song and re-added it to the iTunes library.
