ITunes Plus - not apparent

Is there a way to have iTunes Plus show up on any track where that is an option? This is NOT the case when browsing the store.
For Example:
goto the normal search box and type in "BT kaia". The only song that shows up does not have a + sign. However when I go to buy it, its clearly available as a + track. In addition if I do a Power Search and look for "BT kaia" and check the box "iTunes Plus", viola, there is the Plus sign.
I suspect there are many songs I would buy from them, if only I knew they were iTunes plus. I like the front page for browsing, but i never see plus tracks, this is part of the reason why it seems.

If I search with iTunes Plus checked, it works. However if I browse there is no indication. Browsing is a major part of shopping, which is the whole reason for a storefront and "Top" lists. This one of the advantages of iTunes store over P2P, a great storefront, if I want to search randomly I can do that on the P2P networks and get better quality (VBR) for a lower price.
Thanks for the reply!

  • ITunes Plus Not Allowing Upgrade

I bought a lot of pre-iTunes Plus tunes in days gone by. To upgrade them to iTunes Plus so as to get the better quality, I have to pay 30 cents on top of the 99 cents I've already paid, even though new customers get the exact same thing for 99 cents total--standard Apple ripoff, but that's not what I'm posting about. The iTunes Store has a list of tunes I've bought that haven't been upgraded to iTunes Plus, which it would be happy to let me upgrade. However, there are a couple of dozen tunes I have in my library that don't show up on that list, even though they are available for sale in the iTunes Store right now. So, now I don't even get to be ripped off! Is there any way to get those tunes, short of going to Amazon and buying them there?

I also had this issue and still have many songs that are in the store as iTunes Plus but don't show up in my upgrade list (which has gone missing since 9.0, but that's another matter). At first customer service was working with me and I was able to get many of the missing songs, but then some directive must come down from Apple that stopped customer service from helping folks out with this issue. I could no longer contact the reps that helped me before and at first when I tried I got a message from someone superior to them saying I should basically wait. Further attempts to contact anyone in customer service about the matter were met with silence. It's been months and I eventually gave up. Good look, but don't expect much help from Apple.

  • ITunes Plus not allowing upgrades yet?

None of the songs or albums I've purchased are allowing me to upgrade yet.
As an example: I pre-ordered and downloaded "Pocket Symphony" by AIR last month. When I visit its iTunes page, it's flagged as "iTunes Plus". However, its songs all cost .99USD and don't have the 'plus' icon, and there's nothing on the page allowing me to upgrade my existing album to the iTunes Plus version.
How do I upgrade my songs?

After my message a few minutes ago, I bought one track in Plus format (Paul McCartney's Band on the Run, of course). After the song downloaded and i started playing it for the first time, I again clicked on the iTunes Plus page link and now the page is topped with an upgrade your library button and a listing of albums and tracks that can be updated. It looks like Plus content is slowly coming on board as only a handful of songs could be updated.
In fact, the iTunes Plus page now says all my music is up to date but adds: Check back often as iTunes Plus music is continually being added.

  • Unable to upgrade some songs to iTunes plus

    Hello -
I've seen some other discussions on this topic so I guess it's not an uncommon problem, but I wanted to ask about it anyway in case there are new insights about how to fix it!
I have about 75 old "Protected AAC" songs - 128 bps DRM-protected songs that I purchased before the iTunes Plus era - and I would like to upgrade at least some of them to iTunes Plus (not necessarily all - in some cases I've subsequently bought the CD, or am no longer interested in the song).   When I sign in to the iTunes Store and go to the 'Upgrade to iTunes Plus' section, however, only 40 of the songs are listed (35 are not).   I've verified that in almost all cases, these songs/albums are still available in iTunes - I think perhaps one or two are no longer available, so I can understand why upgrades are not allowed there, but in the vast majority of cases I don't understand why I can't upgrade.
What's really strange is that there are some albums where some songs are available for upgrade and not others.  To give a specific example, I purchased 7 songs (all "protected AAC") from the album Travelogue by The Human League (only the 7 bonus tracks, since I have the original album).   Now, 4 of these are available for upgrade to iTunes Plus and 3 are not, even though the whole album (including all 7 songs) are still sold through iTunes.
I tried contacting iTunes support and had an e-mail exchange which was slightly helpful but not entirely;  they would never really answer the question and eventually just started repeating the same set of stock paragraphs, leading me to believe that the responses were selected from a menu and were not actually coming from a person trying to solve the problem (maybe I'm wrong about that, I don't know).   Here are the sorts of answers I got:
"The record company remove and then replace some of the songs for their produced albums on the iTunes Store at any time. Since the songs are modified you are not able to see them in the iTunes upgrade page.:
    or
"The record company remove and then replace some of the songs for their produced albums on the iTunes Store at any time. Since the mentioned songs have been removed and then fresh copy has been posted you are not able to see them in the iTunes upgrade page."
However, even if the songs have been removed or replaced, I really don't understand why some songs on a given album can be upgraded and others can't!
iTunes Support did kindly credit my account for 5 songs, but in practice I'd like to upgrade about 20.
Has anyone had success working around this problem, or do you know a route to getting iTunes Support to do more?   Or should I just give up and re-purchase the songs I can't upgrade?
    Thanks!

Thanks very much....makes sense, but some songs I have used in the past no longer work, so something has changed I guess.

  • Not all songs in album upgraded to iTunes Plus

I have many tracks that weren't upgraded after selecting "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" (actually, hundreds of them). I understand that not all tracks are currently available. Oddly, 3 tracks from the Aerosmith album "Big Ones" were not upgraded, yet all of the other tracks were. I have many other albums that show iTunes Plus eligibility in the iTunes Store, but were not upgraded. There does not seem to be any way to check for additional upgrades (the option disappeared from the iTunes main screen after upgrading). It sounds like there are many of us out there with the same type of issue. What is the deal?

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • Upgrades to iTunes Plus are not showing up

I'd love to upgrade more of my 128-bit tunes to 256-bit. I see that some are now available as such via iTunes, but my "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" doesn't show them. When I click on the title of one of them, I get a message that it is not available for customers in the US - but I can easily find it on iTunes and put it in my Shopping Cart.

  • ITunes Purchases not Available for iTunes Plus Upgrade

I have upgraded nearly 250 songs to iTunes Plus and have upgraded my library at every available opportunity, but I still have 155 songs that have not been available for upgrade. Many of the songs and albums that have not been upgraded are available for purchase in iTunes in the iTunes Plus format.
Why are these songs not being made available for upgrade? I have emailed iTunes support but have not received a response. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution or information about if/when these purchases will be available for upgrade? Thanks!

If you've already contacted them via this form, wait a day or two and if you don't get a reply (and if you haven't even received the automated reply you may have a spam filter blocking Apple's messages), try again.

  • ITunes Plus Upgrade, Two Song Counts, Price Does Not Add Up

When I click on the iTunes Plus Upgrade in the iTunes store, I see two song counts. One is called Total Songs, the other is called Songs. The Total Songs number is higher than the Songs number. It appears that the Song number is what can be upgraded, the actual list of songs shown below matches.
But I'm not sure what the Total Songs number represents. It is lower than the total number of Protected AAC songs I have in my library.
So, does anyone know what the Total Song count represents?
Another confusing issue is that if I multiple the Songs count by $0.30 (which is the cost per song) that number is less than what the iTunes store says it will cost. I only have one video that can be upgraded, so that should only add another $0.30 to the total cost. But the total cost iTunes is showing is calculates to about 50% more songs that what it shows I can upgrade to.

I've done some comparisons of the File Info between my DRM-Protected 'Dark Side' and 'Animals' songs and the DRM-Free versions. It turns out there are differences which might explain the trouble Upgrade My Library has in recognizing eligible albums.
    On 'Animals':
    Standard http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a249/travisschiller/Picture2.png
    Plus http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a249/travisschiller/Picture1.png
Notice the difference in the album art and, notably, the Copyright information. This is not the same song with only quality affected. Apparently, there was some copyright changes that took place, which might critically affect the eligibility of an album or songs.
The same with 'Dark Side of the Moon':
    Standard http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a249/travisschiller/Picture4.png
    Plus http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a249/travisschiller/Picture3.png
Notice here, too, the running time of the song is different.
All that needs to be done by Apple is a configuration of Upgrade My Library so that it will recognize these previous versions of these albums for those of us who bought it before the revision took place.

  • Itunes will not restore my iphone 6 plus

Ok so let me start from the beginning.
I purchased new iphone 6 plus in Nov and received it on Dec 12th, 2014. Three days after I took out of the package its been a problem ever since then. First issue was my phone froze on the lockscreen, I held the sleep button and the face button until it went off, turned it back on and the screen was tripping out going on and off and off constantly to the point i had to turn it off again. I turned it back on only for it to make it to the lockscreen and then shut off. So i had to put my phone into recovery mode and restore it via itunes. Everything worked fine, I restored it and it was good, then a few days later my photo app started crashing whenever i tried to scroll up. I then turned my phone off again and my phone wouldnt go passed the apple logo before it would shut off again by itself. I then had to restore it yet again it worked for a few days and then proceeded to act up again. So now, fast forward 2 months later and i haven't had to do a restore since the beginning of the month. Now my phone started acting strange again. I went into my photo app and scrolled up past a few pictures before it crashed and I tried again and again and again. Then i turned my phone off and then back on. It went to the apple logo and then shut back off. Now i have been connected to itunes for over 2 hours and itunes will not complete the software and restore. Im getting message saying "Error 3014". I have tried everything with this iphone. I've done the following with no solid results.
-I've completely wiped out the old software 8.1.2 when my phone was messed up in the beginning. Ive done this multiple times.I thought that maybe I caught a glitch while updating my iOS via OTA. so i reinstalled the new iOS via itunes and I still had an issue.
-I've completely wiped my phone clean from all apps and photos and created an entirely new backup. Still had an issue.
-Restored and updated my iOS via itunes.
    -Updated my iOS to 8.1.3
As of now my phone is a complete brick. I've manually put it into recovery mode to be restored but itunes will update the software (But not install it on the phone) then get it ready to be restored only to lose communication with the iphone midway through the restore process. I've tried multiple times to update and restore my phone with no success. Th error message "3014" pops up. If anybody can suggest anything or has gone through this same issue I would love your help or insight on the problem. This phone has been a headache ever since I purchased it.

    Hey kriscro2,
Thanks for the question. iTunes 11.1.4 is compatible with Windows 8, as outlined on the System Requirements page:

  • HT201272 There are purchased items that are no longer showing in the iTunes store because I upgraded to iTunes Plus format.  What can I do? My hard drive crashed and lost a great deal of my music and it's not showing in iCloud.

What can I do to see items that I have purchased but upgraded to iTunes Plus? They are not showing in my iCloud as purchased, but I still can see the original protected versions from old backups. The original was downloaded with my iMac but the computers hard drive has burned out and needs to be replaced.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it.  What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media.  The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.
I wonder how Google Play will handle movies/tv that becomes unavailable?  Google Play does allow you to download media in some circumstances (on Android and iOS) but is generally intended  for streaming.  Maybe relying on a physical copy as I do with iTunes should make me more comfortable with it and not less.
I will come back to mark your reply as the solution as it becomes clear there is not a contrary position.  Thank you.

    Hi,
For no apparent reason my phone stopped working...so I did a reset and got the message 'Restore Needed'. I connected to iTunes and got this message: 'iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your iPhone before it can be used with iTunes'.
The problem is, I can't enter my passcode because I'm not given that option on the iPhone. All I seem to be able to do is make an emergency call.
It's been working fine otherwise. Any suggestions?
This is the SECOND replacement iPhone I've had this week and I'm getting a bit fed up.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Are you referring to the 4 digit passcode needed to enter the phone and use it's features?
If so reboot your iPhone and enter the passcode to get it operational.  Launch Image Capture on the Mac and connect the iPhone.  Now you should be able to download the video files to wherever you want on your hard drive.

If you're really using iTunes 7.0 you are very far behind the current version - maybe it is trying to connect to a decomissioned server.  In fact I am kind of surprised it will run on a Macbook Air.  Are you sure you are running iTunes 7?

  • ITune Plus tracks not showing up

It seems to me that in the past, if I logged into my account settings in the iTunes store, there was an area where I could select "always show iTunes Plus" or something like that. I no longer see that as an option.
This concerns me, because, for example, if I do a normal iTunes store search for "Cannanes", I see a number of tracks available for purchase, but none are available as iTunes Plus...however, if I do a "Power Search" from Quick links in the iTunes Store menus, and make sure I select "Search iTunes Plus", I see that there are 13 tracks available in this format that were previously not shown!
What gives? Has the preference for this option changed? Is there a bug in iTunes or the iTunes store? Or is it that Apple would really prefer to not sell the iTunes Plus format, given the higher bandwidth cost and the fact that these tracks now cost the same as DRM'd songs?

It's no longer an option since iTunes Plus tracks are the same price as the other tracks, so there's no need to turn iTunes Plus on and off. There are indeed anomalies in the display of Plus tracks, so assuming you're using the latest version of iTunes, it's probably an ongoing glitch in the iTunes Store and not anything on your end.

  • I am trying to export a slide show from iPhoto with music from iTunes. it will not export the music file because i have not enabled iTunes plus. how do i do this?

i am trying to export a slideshow from iphoto using a song from itunes. an error message comes up and say it will not export the song because itunes plus has not been enabled. how do i do that?

It sounds like you tune is an .m4p file - p=protected and has DRM.
Previously you could get the + version which was a .m4a file with no protection/DRM.
The + option has been replaced with iTunes Match - $24.99 a year.
A better option if you have a .m4p file would be to repurchase the .m4a version from the iTS unless you want to update your entire library with iTunes match.
