"iTunes Plus" Purchases Fail On WiFi iTunes App

This is a more specific subject line for the issue discussed in my prior posting "WiFi Music Store Purchases Fail To Download" -- see prior posting at:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1333843&tstart=0
Can anyone please shed any light on this problem? Is anyone else having the same problem? Is anyone else able to purchase and download "iTunes Plus" content on your iPhone without issue?

Thanks to the person who took the time to understand the posted question and provide a genuine answer - purchase an iTunes song using iTunes on my computer first, which forces iTunes to present the extended iTunes Plus agreement for you to accept, after which you can then sync the iPhone and it picks up the extended agreement and will then work properly to purchase and download iTunes Plus content.

You cannot transfer it to your account.
You can put it on your computer.
Copy it from wherever it is now to your computer.

  • Error -4 in iTunes Plus purchase process - no downloads but history shows

I got -4 error during the purchase the iTunes Plus update for 50 albums and a retry was suggested.
After retry the Plus button showed that there's no updates available. Today, there was an update for one (new) album (I was able to download it).
Unfortunately, the purchase history shows that I have purchased all those 50 album updates ( some 150 euros!) although I haven't got them!
    What to do???

Seems to me that my complain helped in 5 seconds - I once again searched for downloads for me, and all of the sudden the downloads started, 15 hours after the purchase

  • ITunes Plus Upgrade--No help from iTunes Support

I appologize for this lengthy post. Believe me I have more to the story, but want to keep it as short as possible. Bottom line is I'm looking for help with iTunes plus upgrade please.
My specific problem is getting customer support to upgrade my old iTunes songs iTunes to iTunes plus so I can use them on our new Sonos player. It’s now been almost a week since this issue arose and there has been no help in getting my problems solved. My main problem is that there is no telephone customer support for iTunes. All of the support for iTunes is now done online through emails. That is a huge issue in my mind, but not the purpose for this post.
    Here is my problem..
I have two iTunes accounts. Account # 1 was my primary account until 2008/09 time frame when I switched from a PC to Macbook Pro. I have 314 songs from 2006-08 that were purchased on Account #1 that I'm trying to upgrade to iTunes Plus. Account #2 is now my primary iTunes account. The Account #2 songs are all iTunes plus and do not need upgrading. I now have all the purchases from both accounts on my Mac Mini serving as a HTC, but the old iTunes DRM songs cannot be played on Sonos until they get upgraded.
My issue solely relates to my old songs on Account #1. I have been trying to upgrade my account 1 songs since last Thursday. My iTunes store account is currently logged into Account 1 when attempting the updgrade. When I first made the purchase, I got the on screen message that I’d get an email with instructions to complete the purchase. Well three days passed and I never got the email. I also noticed that my purchase of $104 showed up as three “pending” credit card charges on my bank account records. This seemed odd so I called Apple for help. Big mistake!!!!!
When I attempted to call Apple Support I was continually given to “technical support” for either my Macbook or Mac Mini. They never listened to what I was saying. In fact one rep told me I would need to pay the $39 fee for technical support on my issue!!!! Finally, after speaking to three different individuals one of the “tech support” reps was able to contact an iTunes support rep. Note, that I could not speak to them, rather it was strictly apple employee to apple employee. I was placed on hold for thirty minutes while they worked on my issue. After thirty minutes I was told to go to the iTunes store and start over. I went to iTunes store and completed the purchase again. Shortly thereafter, I received an email response from iTunes saying:
    Dear Tom,
Your iTunes Plus music upgrade could not be successfully completed because there was a problem with one of the items that was to be upgraded. Please return to your Upgrade My Library page and click Buy and your upgrade should be processed successfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your business.
    Sincerely,
    iTunes Store Team
Based on this email. I went to iTunes store again and tried the purchase….again. I then got the same email response a short time later. I have attempted two other times to buy the upgrades but got no email responses at all. Late Sunday, I called Apple again and also used their online iTunes support page. I got one response late Sunday evening asking a question about error messages, I answered their question by providing them the above iTunes notice. That email late Sunday night was the last communication I've recieved from iTunes support. It’s now three days later and I’m still waiting to hear back from someone at iTunes support. All I want to do is spend 104 dollars to upgrade my 300+ songs, but no one at Apple seems to care.
I am really disappointed in Apple’s customer service. I’ve been a fan of Apple for quite some time, between my wife and I, we have 6 Apple products in our home. The lack of customer support is really disgraceful.
    Anyone have any ideas.

This is a follow up. Finally, after almost 72 hours, I recieved another email from the original iTunes support representative. According to her, the problem is that one or more of my songs on the account are either not eligible for the upgrade or the file is corrupted and can not be upgraded. In short I cannot use the "Buy All" feature because I will always hit this roadblock. The only way to resolve this, is to upgrade each song individually or select a few songs at a time to upgrade.
I will have to do this until I get the song or songs that is causing the problem. Once I have identified the song(s), I can chose to repurchase them and get a refund. All songs today are at the DRM free format so repurchased songs will automatically be the upgraded file.
So I'll now begin the upgrade of the 314 songs. I guess it could be worse.
Okay, I got an answer and an offer of a refund, but this answer certainly could have been provided three days ago. Am I being unreasonable?

  • Problem in using 2 IDs for iTunes music purchase downloads and using iTunes Match for 1 ID

    Dear support managers,
We are using 1 macbook pro and 2 apple ID for purchasing iTunes music together (Me and my wife).
Actually, I have bought 1 year service of iTunes match on my apple ID and have been using well the service after download the purchased musics under the apple ID I am using.
But once my wife associated the macbook pro with her apple ID to download the musics she purchased,
I have not been able to use the iTunes Match service I have subscribed already.
    The message said
"This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 90 days"
I can neither purchase another computer for solving this situation nor want to purchase another iTunes Match service on my wife's apple ID.
Please help me out to solve this issue.
    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi,
You can only use one Apple ID with iTunes match. Purchasing another match subscription using wife's Apple ID is not a solution. I can only suggest that you use your ID for match and all iTunes music purchases.

  • Iphone 4S iTunes music purchase not showing in iTunes on Mac

I purchased a song on my iPhone 4S using the same iTunes account that I use on my MacPro running Lion and the latest version of iTunes.
The purchased song shows up on my Mac iTunes under "purchased", but it does not show up in Music when I search for the song.
I did confirm that the song did download to my Mac from the iTunes store automatically. I am an iCloud subscriber and all of my devices have been synched with iCloud.
Why doesn't it show up in my regular music catalog on my Mac? Any suggestions to fix this are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello Pearljamluvr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that you have transferred your iTunes library to a new computer, and are wondering how to get that content imported into iTunes.  To accomplish this, please see the information and the article outlined below.
Part 4 (optional): Add back new content
Copy the iTunes Media folder you created in Part 2 into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder inside the iTunes Media folder you copied in Part 3. iTunes will automatically import the content.

  • ITunes Plus purchases' don't download, non iTunes Plus purchases' do

Is there a reason and/or solution to this?
    Thanks

    Do you use iTunes Match?
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4543259 - delay of several hours (for some people overnight) for new additions to iTunes to appear in the main library window as a result of using iTunes Match.  Things to try:
    1) Turn off Match, see if the items appear, then turn Match on again.
    2) Drag the items from the Recently Added playlist to the library.
    3) Wait until they do appear.

  • HT2905 How to restore music to itunes after purchasing album and update itunes to newest version

Okay last night I bought the Carter IV and I had problems with my gift card. So eventually I updated my itunes to the most current for my windows 7. Now the issue is I have no music accept the purchased album, and in my "music folder" in Previous Itunes Libraries I dont see the thousands of songs and videos I had on itunes! so If anybody can help it would be most appreciated.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
This assumes that you are currently connected to the library file in the main iTunes folder, if you've somehow managed to connect to an alternate file then hold down shift as you start iTunes so that you get options to "Choose or create a library", then choose the library file in question.
There should shouldn't be a Music folder in Previous iTunes Libraries which makes me suspect you've picked the wrong file at some point, where it happens to be, rather than restoring it as outlined above.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

    Linda,
Apple formerly ran a program that allowed you to replace DRM songs with non-DRM versions for 30 cents apiece.  That program was discontinued by Apple last year.
You can still upgrade now, but it requires subscribing to iTunes Match and following the instructions by which to delete your DRM copy and download the non-DRM (iTunes Plus) matched copy.  See the section "Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?" in this guide: iTunes Store: iTunes Plus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • HT1727 How do you upgrade previously purchased items to iTunes Plus from DRM

I can not find the instructions on screen in the iTunes Store to upgrade purchased songs from the DRM files to the iTunes Plus style.

Log into your iTunes Store account and look for an "iTunes Plus" link under the Quick Links:
Click that. If nothing appears, then the iTunes Store doesn't think you have any tracks that are eligible to be upgraded and you may have to buy the tracks again if you want them in the upgraded format, or sign up for ITunes Match which should upgrade all those tracks.
    Regards.

  • WiFi Music Store Purchases Fail To Download

My very first attempt to purchase music on my iPhone through the iPhone iTunes WiFi Music App caused, and continues to cause, me much frustration and disappointment.
Background: I purchase music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro just fine, and my iPhone is synced with iTunes from my MacBook Pro and so my iPhone is well aware of my iTunes account info, etc.
After some playing around and experimenting, it seems that I can purchase and download (on my iPhone, using the WiFi iTunes app) "regular" songs just fine, but "iTunes Plus" songs cause a problem. The music I first attempted to purchase was "iTunes Plus", and all attempts to purchase any iTunes Plus music fails in the same manner.
I touch the button to buy, I enter my account password when prompted, the red bubble bounces down onto the Downloads button, and after about 1 full second the red bubble disappears. I touch the Downloads button and there is nothing there. No purchase occurred, and I never get billed. It's as if iTunes Plus songs cannot be purchased on the iPhone using the WiFi iTunes app.
Can anyone please tell me if there is some problem or known limitation? Am I doing something wrong?

Ummm... Thanks, I think, but this didn't address my problem. I'm not a novice user, and I already know everything this article says.
What I do not know, and am having trouble with, is why I cannot purchase and download iTunes Plus content, when "regular" content purchases download without issue. Given that regular content purchases download without issue, it isn't my iPhone, my iTunes account, my WiFi connection -- what is the problem with purchasing and downloading iTunes Plus content reliably?

  • It started with iTunes Plus

I decided to upgrade some songs to iTunes Plus. When I closed iTunes and came back to it, it started to rebuild the iTunes Library. That's when I noticed some songs were missing from the iTunes listings, though they were still on the external Firewire drive where I keep the files. I imported the missing songs and things seemed fine until I synced my iPhone 3G and watched in horror as about half of my apps disappeared. I know I can download them again, but...
When I closed and re-opened iTunes again, it started to rebuild the library file again.
Everything worked fine...until I upgraded about 15 songs to iTunes Plus.
Has anyone run into this problem? If so, what did you do?
    TIA, Bob

There is no requirement to store content on an iDevice, the user controls this by managing the content on the iDevice via iTunes.
Keeping content on the computer or an external drive is a good practice from a backup perspective.  There is no guarantee that content in iTunes will always be there.  Content is added and removed regularly based on rights from the content owners.
If users wish to always have access to the content they purchased, the user should keep local copies.
