ITunes: Podcast "Access Privileges"?

After listening to many podcasts over the years, they have suddenly stopped working. I can't download episodes anymore; I get that exclamation-point icon in the left-most column.
Clicking on it brings up an error message saying I don't have enough "access privileges for this operation." I've never heard of that before in relation to podcasts, and indeed, the Help files make no mention of it.
I suspect this may be due to my recent upgrade of my Mac: although I'm using the same admin account from the migration, I had to rename its "shortname" (that appears as the title of the Home folder). Could this have something to do with this problem?
In any case, anybody know how to get back the "access privileges" for podcasts?
Thanks for you help!

check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.

I subscribe to seven podcasts. Six download updates without difficulty. But one has stopped updating. When I try to update my Radio Open Source podcast, I get this message: "There is a problem downloading __. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
All six other podcasts update properly. Any ideas as to how I can fix this? Thanks.

Podcasts are allowed; that's how I could download the other six. The Radio Open Source podcast is the only one I'm having problems with.

    Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder.  Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

iPod Classic 80GB. Message reads ' iTunes library cannot be saved you do not have enough access privileges for this operation'.  It says it has synced but it hasn't. Please help, I am not very tech minded.

See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages.  It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.

  • How do i resolve my itunes from saying " The itunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

Everytime i click to go to my itunes, the message "The Itunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." pops up. I have tried my best to fix it by adding another account to my computer and setting that one as the administator and mine as the regular user. When i did that the itunes worked on both, but when i changed my account back to administator and the other account to the regular user my account didnt work but the other one did. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall itunes. This message popped up when i tried to update the itunes to the newest one. And still it wont go away. Can someone help me please. Thanks!

  • Help! "The iTunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this application"

I am getting the following error when trying to open iTunes: "The iTunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this application." I am logged in with the admin (and only) user account on my laptop, so I'm confused as to why this would start happening all of the sudden.
I poked around in the control panel trying to find random options that would fix it, but nothing has. I'm running Windows 7.
    Thanks for any help!

  • I have a new PC and I am getting the message "The iTunes Library File cannot be saved.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  I am the only one using this PC and I have Windows 7 Pro and have an administrator account.  Help

Can anyone help me with this problem.  ITunes message," The iTunes library file cannot be saved.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."   I have administrator account and transferred files from old PC.  I downloaded new iTunes program on new PC.  I synced my iPhone to new PC, no problem.  I deleted old account after indicating shared files to new admin account.  Can anyone help?

A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them!

  • Access privileges for Podcasts with VIsta

I'm having problems when attempting to "get" Podcasts that I've subscribed to. The error message states " There was a problem downloading 'name of podcast'. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation". These are all free podcasts, not requiring account set up or anything other than subcribing.
This only happens on my Wintel machine running Vista--on the Mac side I'm able to get the same episodes without a hitch. I've dug through the defender and administrator settings, but haven't found the solution.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tried using Disk Utility's Repair
    Permissions function?
Just tried. Both the "Verify..." and "Repair..."
    buttons are greyed out.
Also, I noticed that, in this same Disk Utility
window, that next to "Owners Enabled:" it says "NO".
Is this part of the problem...that the Mac doesn't
see the iPod as "owned" by anyone? For what it's
worth, when I "Get Info" on the iPod, the user (my
wife) shows up, and is shown as being able to Read &
Write. So, according to that, it seems that someone
    does "own" it.
Still baffled, but thanks for the tip, 0Ari0. We
    might be getting somewhere...?
Yeah... it seems like YOU'RE not the owner...

  • "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message on iTunes startup?

So I cleaned up my Macbook recently, and now I am fearing that I may have deleted something important.
Whenever I start up iTunes, I am met with the "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error message. I have read forums that advised editing the Get Info page for the iTunes library to allow all users and staff to "Read/Write", but doing this has not eliminated this message.
Any tracks that were not purchased play normally, but purchased tracks now require additional sign-in that I do not believe was required before. Other than this, iTunes performs normally.
Did I mess something up permanentliy or is there a way to fix this?

The problem was that my account wasn't authorized. But when I tried to authorize it, I got an error message saying that the authorization could not be completed. Thankfully, THAT was something that Apple Support had previously addressed.
    See http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1277

  • ITunes error: The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. is preventing my iPhone from syncing. How do I fix it?

The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. is preventing my iPhone from syncing. How do I fix it? I have changed permissions until blue in the face. What is going on? Why is this so hard? I just want to sync my phone.
A little background. My iTunes library is in a shared folder. My Aperture library is on a .DMG in the shared folder with "ignore permissions on this volume" checked. I have added myself with read and write privileges to everything that I can find. What gives? Thanks in advance.

PC, windows7, iphone4, updated iphone (5.0.1) and itunes (10.5.2.11) software. Started getting "iphone cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" message.
Solution I found that worked: Uncheck "Sync photos from Iphone" in Itunes / Devices / Photos tab.

  • ITunes music files cannot be edited, and new music files imported.  The messages says I do not have enough access privileges even though I am the administrator of the system.

Since installing the latest version of iTunes all my music files cannot be edited, and I cannot import new music files into iTunes.  The messages says I do not have enough access privileges even though I am the administrator of the system.  If anyone can help me sort this out I would be really grateful.  I have checked the read and write privileges for all the iTunes folders and it all seems in order so I can't understand it.
In general, I am getting really frustrated with Apple.  They seem to be getting ever more controlling in their approach to their consumers.  I need to edit music file information as I am a dj.  And why can't I import music, unless I buy it from iTunes?  Most of all, why can't I use the devices I paid a lot of money for in the way I want to use them, and not be forced to coerced to use apple's fee paying services (iCloud, iTunes).
I have used apple computers since the early 1990's, but in the last year I have gotten rid of my iPhone and my iPad and replaced them with Android devices.  Much better and much less control.  Perhaps it is time to switch from Apple altogether.
