Itunes Podcast Directory Bug!

I submitted my video podcast into the itunes directory back when 4.9 came out. I was not aware of the needed itunes rss features that must be implemented for it to work. After feedburner (my feed host) added those features, I tried to resubmit the video podcast
iTunes gave me the response that it was already submitted and therefore would not be acceppted. The problem is that it was rejected because it did not have those features turned on
I have sumbitted a feed from my second vidoe podcast, and it went through great, but the main video podcast is what I want to be in the directory
How can I get them to allow me to resubmit!?
there is no questionable content, no broken rules, it is perfect itunes material!
WHAT DO I DO?!

Michael, you need to close the Information Window before you can do anything with another file. I think that's the way it's always worked in iTunes.

Anyone know how I can get an audio file imported into my iTunes' podcast directory, rather than the music directory?
I downloaded a series of podcasts recently.  They were imported into my "music" directory instead, making it more difficult for me to recall where I left off with the last podcast I listened to before having to stop it for whatever reason.  Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do it, though the result isn't ideal. Import your episode, then select it in the Music list and hit command-i to bring up the info panel:
However each episode you do this with will turn up as a 'podcast' with no name - and it doesn't seem possible to give it one - containing the one episode:

  • Podcast imports into iTunes & Podcast Directory

I have a 30GB iPod and have no trouble with podcasts from the iTunes Store (7.0.2.16). With podcasts downloaded from places other than the iTunes Store is where the problem comes in. I can get these MP3 podcasts into the music directory in iTunes, and the music directory on the iPod, without a problem but I have been totally unable to get these non-iTunes Store podcasts into the Podcast directory on either iTunes or the iPod.
Can I import non-iTunes Store podcasts into the Podcast directory in iTunes and the iPod? I am set to manually manage music and podcasts with selective update for the podcasts subscriptions.

    Hope this helps!
Well I have had this problem once myself and i figured out that you have to convert the podcast to a certain form compatible with your ipod/itunes. All you have to do is right click on it and choose convert selection to ipod. Sometimes it will manually do it though when you click and drag your podcast onto your library. I have had podcast before though that will absoulutly not convert therefore you can not use them on your ipod. Like I said I hope this helps, good luck!

  • XML feed loads in iTunes, but rejected by iTunes Podcast Directory

I'd like my podcast to appear in iTunes.
    http://ans08.midphase.com/~socisin6/socialworkpodcast.xml
When I manually subscribe using Advanced: Subscribe to Podcast, the podcast loads. However, when I submit to the Podcast Directory I get the following error: "error parsing feed: Invalid XML.
Feed validator identified some problems, but none that were different than other xml feeds I've seen for podcasts listed on iTunes.
This is my first podcast. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I realized my XML file was incorrect: I had the wrong day of the week associated with a date in the <lastBuildDate> tag. I corrected it.

  • All files in itunes Podcast directory but split into two podcasts in iTunes

    Hi
I have all my "Great Podcast" podcasts in "Great Podcast" folder in the iTunes directory.
Then, in iTunes, when I add to library it splits them into two podcast folders entitled "Great Podcast"
There are no duplicates in each. newer ones are in the folder that has the Get More or Subscribe button. The Older ones are in a basic folder that doesn't allow to subscribe.
I changed the IDtags to 2.3 as the newer folder are all 2.3 so I figured thats the answer. It didn't work.
I'm really confused about whats going on, I just want them all in one folder in iTunes.
    Any help is appreciated

Its one file with two different dispalys.
You can pull the bottom one down by dragging it down or hit the very little triangle on the right side.

  • ITunes Podcast iPhone bugs?

    1. Does anyone know how to transfer specific podcast track to iPhone?
    2. I think I found a bug in iTunes. I have 4 podcast tracks (#1,2,3,4) the #1 is already played while the rest are not. In the podcast sync setting, the "3 most recent unplayed" will transfer track #2,3,4 to iPhone while setting "3 least recent unplayed" transfer tracks #1,2,3. But track #1 is already played why it is still being transferred?
    3. Another annoying thing is that iTunes doesn't care about podcast track #. If you have track #1...10 that are encoded at different time order, iTunes will only sort tracks based on date, not the track # defined in the tag. Let's say if re-encode #3 then iTunes will think it is the most recent track. Any cure to this?

If, when your iPhone is plugged in, you click on your iPhone in iTunes. You'll see the main screen, click on the podcast tab. You can select what you want it to sync. By clicking on the Sync _____ episode button, you get a number of options to select. Play with those and see if they meet your needs.

  • Please help - iTunes podcast curation

    Hi Everyone,
Anyone know how to contact the editorial team at the podcast directory? My podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/popup-chinese-chinese-lessons/id292036117
We teach mandarin from Beijing and are literally the highest-ranked Chinese teaching podcast in the directory (5 stars on 38 reviews of over 900 totally free lessons and podcasts). We've been producing our lessons for 2.5 years now and are routinely ranked the best place to learn Chinese online by foreigners in China. But we still can't be found in the iTunes podcast directory when people look for free Chinese learning materials:
Podcast Directory --> Language Learning (Quick Links) --> Chinese
The problem is that this page seems to be manually curated and isn't being updated. Of the eight podcasts listed, half stopped ages ago or have 15 or fewer lessons. The remainder are pay-to-play or Chinese-only recordings of minimal use (like recordings of someone reading a news article). It is surreal in the sense that our own users are complaining to us about the fact they can't find us here -- but we don't have any control over it!
I don't want this to sound like a rant, because I don't expect the iTunes staff to be familiar enough with Chinese to know what is good and what isn't. But I'm hoping someone has advice on how to get this problem solved. I would love to send the iTunes team some t-shirts and copies of reviews of our stuff. Or maybe just send a short and polite email asking for consideration. But there seems to be no way to do this. Apple support keeps throwing us in loops and no-one knows the right people to contact.
    Can anyone help us?
    Sincerely,
    David Lancashire

  • Thank You iTunes' Podcast Team

This probably isn't the right place for it, but my podcast partner, Madeline, and I both wanted to thank the staff of the iTunes' Podcast directory for featuring our humble show in such a prominent location on the front page of the directory.
The exposure has helped propel us into rankings territory that puts us among many of our own favorite podcasts, as well as showcasing us side-by-side with the works of numerous esteemed individuals and companies that produce podcasts professionally. The exposure has served to motivate us as we continue to try and build a non-traditional audience (a podcast for teen girls) and to continue to put our best foot forward!
Again, a sincere "thank you," from the folks behind the

I think you already need to have some SJSWS server definitions.. I just followed the exact steps you listed (install nb 6.8, install sjsws plugin, select Tools / Servers) and no window appears.. the key factor here: I told it to import my nb 6.7 settings which includes some sjsws server definitions. I had this same problem when sjsws plugin was first available for nb 6.5. I looked back at that thread ( http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5349413 ) and saw mention of particular java versions.. so I should mention I used Java 6u13 with nb 6.7, but when I installed nb 6.8 I switched to 6u17. • ITunes 6.02 will not load Podcast directory

Hmmmm, latest iTunes and on both my iMac and PowerBook, I cannot get iTunes to show the PodCast directory.
Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions?

I am having this problem as well - If I click on Podcasts from the iTMS I get the usual "Accessing Music Store message plus progress bar - this goes to about 98% across the bar and then just stops.
If I select "Podcast Directory" from my subscribed podcasts list, I get the "Accessing Music Store.." but with the "hashed" progress bar and again it just sits there.
I only noticed this yesterday - I had just installed iLife '06 so don't know if this is related or not.

  • ITunes Crashes accessing Podcast directory

For the past 3-5 months in 10.4.x and 10.5.x accessing the podcast directory of my iTunes library results in an instant crash of iTunes. This really ***** as I was hoping the 10.5 upgrade would fix things. I was a podcast junkie and I've since gone cold turkey as a result of these technical problems.
Is there a fix to this? I'm currently using iTunes 7.6.2. I've even attempted to reinstall 7.6.2 with no luck.

  • Is the podcast directory automated?

I've been reading this forum and a lot of the posts are to do with podcasts not updating in the directory or not appearing at all! I got the impression the process of submitting and updating a podcast was automated but it seems to not be. Does anyone know for sure if it is computer controlled or man controlled?
If it isn't computer controlled, Judging by the amount of waiting I and other people have to endure, it seems apple have underestimated the popularity of the podcast directory.
Does anyone else agree with me here?

An update - I've been using the Podcast app quite a bit and boy it's a bit clunky compared to the old way of using iTunes. I start the app and waite for a while for it to work. Then if it's been used and I come back to it say a few hours later - that is it has been used, then I get to work, stop the podcast then after a few hours get back in the car - plug in iPhone 4 into the audio jack  - the app is frozen!
This is not a good job by the Podcast app team at Apple - it's clunky, it doesn't auto resume after calls, it freezes, it's slow and it's fiddly to use.

  • Manaul Podcast upload & Podcast Directory problems

I have a couple of podcasts that have been downloaded on another computer, which I cannot get itunes to recognise as podcasts.
I've saved them in the 'My Received Podcasts' folder, they're in the library with genre set to Podcast but cannot get them to come up in the Podcast department.
I am unable to click on 'Podcast directory' at the bottom of the Podcast screen.
Am sure I'm missing something basic. Some assistance would be appreciated.

Did you ever find an answer? I have the same problem.

  • Podcast are not in the podcast directory

    Hi,
I just reformat my hard disk, I re-install Itunes, the latest version, I have subscribe and downloaded my favorite podcast.
I sync my Ipod nano every thing went fine but my podcast are not in my podcast directory on my ipod, I have to artist...
What can I do to fix that problem?
    thanks

Feedburner ha done its usual trick of ramming a lot of extraneous code into the feed in order to be compatible with other rss readers, and for the most part it is this which is causing FeedValidator to report problems. The lack of line breaks makes the feed very difficult to read, but I would think that iTunes will simply ignore the tags which aren't aimed at it: the fact that it's been accepted suggested that you don't have a problem here.
However, searching just on the category is most unlikely to throw up your podcast. There are thousands of podcasts out there, and it would be quite impossible to display one one page the entire list for any category. What you see are 'featured' podcasts, chosen by Apple as being special; please see this Tech Note:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/podcasts/specs.html#getfeatured
Note that there is no way you can influence the selection other than making your podcast really special.

  • Inspector is wrong! podcast duration bug/error

Here's what happened: using iWeb to publish a podcast. After eight episodes, noticed that using an ampersand ("&") in the description made for ugliness in RSS and iTunes ("&" becomes "&-amp" or something). So I go back and edit every entry -- changing "&" to "and." Then I publish. Oh, I also changed the name of the website and the podcast page in the "Site Organizer" area for more clarity.
Suddenly, episodes are reappearing in my personal iTunes Podcast library, as if I haven't downloaded them yet (so there's a ghost episode wiith "Get" next to it under each ep). If it were just because the description changed, I might understand (though not accept). But the weirdest part is, the duration has also changed -- each episode now says it's 10-15 seconds longer than it actually is. If you "Get" a doubled episode with the wrong time stamp, the time reverts to being correct once the download completes.
But here's the real problem: when I go into my Entries in iWeb and open the Inspector, then go to RSS > Podcast, the duration is incorrect there. The mp3 file it's referring to has not changed, nor has it been damaged. Somehow the Inspector just decided out of the blue to add some time to each duration for no apparent reason.
So I manually edited my RSS, but the episodes are still appearing twice in my podcast library (even after clicking Update), and every time I publish I will probably have to manually edit the RSS if I want the time to be correct, since the Inspector, and hence iWeb, has the time wrong.
Anyone else seen this? It's gotta be a bug, and I don't anticipate there being a fix for it, but I thought I might find comfort in knowing others have run into this.
Ideal outcome? I don't want my subscribers to get confused and think they have to re-download old episodes, so I'd like for the ghosts/doubles to disappear from subscribers' podcast libraries. I'd also like to be able to get the time stamp/duration to read correctly in the Inspector so that I don't have to manually change that in the RSS file after every time I publish.
By the way, this is for Never Not Funny, the Jimmy Pardo podcast.

Also, not sure it matters, but the feed is routed through FeedBurner to get stats.
