ITUNES PODCAST Library wiped out

Several times when I started ITUNES it gives me a message about my Library being unreadable (not the exact words) then completes power up. All my music is ok but the podcasts in my library have all been erased. It has saved them in a newly generated PODCAST restored playlist but all the entries in the Library podcast's are gone so I have to resubscribe to all the podcasts I desire. Any ideas?

How to upload podcasts which are not in the iTunes podcast library?

or how to create a playlist of podcasts?
I have some podcasts as mp3 files I'd like to upload. These podcasts are not in the Itunes podcast library. I downloaded them from another source. What I do not understand is why iTunes makes a difference between podcast mp3 files and music mp3 files. If I put my podcasts into a playlist and try to synchronise the playlist with iPhone, the files are not uploaded. Actually I do not see the playlist listed in the page "Music" of my device "iPhone".
Any ideas?

Nano library wiped out

Help..all the music on my sons 2nd gen Nano has been wiped out. When we attempt to sync it back up, we get an error message that says "Songs on the ipod Jakes Ipod cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
The songs are still on the library and are all checked..but they won't load because of the above error message.

For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

ITunes and iPhone wiped out - Can I reload apps?

To make a long story short - my iPhone and iTunes were wiped out.
Is it possible to reload all the apps I had and paid for?
My online iTunes account has record of me paying for all of them, so I'm hoping this is possible.

Itunes preferences get wiped out with new updates

Under itunes preferences I like to keep my files organized and to copy over files when I add them to itunes. Every time i get an itunes update and download it, these settings get wiped out. It's really annoying. Any thoughts?

Library wiped out with 7.7 - How to recover

I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.7 and now my library in iTunes is not accessable and shows empty in iTunes. I still have everything on my iPod and I can have verified that all of the CDs I've burned and music I've purchased are still in my iTunes folder. I have also verified the library location is correct in Preference>Advanced.
I tried one of the support topics for "How to re-create your iTunes library", but when I get to the step of dragging the iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop, I get a message that the xml is corrupt.
Any suggestions?

My computer did the same thing, although it was playing fine and nothing disappeared until I deleted everything (because I was getting rid of duplicated files on my external hard drive and needed to do a kind of Refresh) tried to set it back on, and now nothing will show up. I've told iTunes to use my external hard drive as its folder since I first downloaded iTunes and it's been fine. But yes, I did the update today and as per usual it screwed everything up. Do you know how to get older versions of iTunes back?

ITunes Library wiped out after software update - Pls help !

I set my iMac periodically runs auto software update, and after I run iTunes 6.0.5 (20) software update, I opened iTunes and a warning message says, "Files moved to iTunes Library Damaged 1", and the library is empty !!
On further search, when I go into HD, a folder "iTunes Library" seem to have those previous songs. Looking thru the files, it seems as though they are all the songs I lost. Can I load these songs back to the iTunes Library, which is empty right now? Or are these damaged files?
FYI - I previously had iLife'05, but thru periodic software updates, iTunes is now version 6.0.5 (20). Is this compatible with the specs of my mac?
Kind of mad, b/c I literally just purchased songs and did not back them up....
Any help or advice is welcome.

The first tip is to turn off the auto update features. The Mac OS will still go look but will ask you if you wnat to install. It is usually a good idea to wait a week or so after an update see what problems others are having.
You tunes files are ok - it is the "iTunes Library" and the "iTunes Music ....xml" that are damaged. These are data base files that work with iTunes and other programs so they know where to go look if a program needs to use something in iTunes.
When you open iTunes the 2 noted files above will be located in HD>User>Music>iTunes. you can just "add" the tunes back into the library and it should be ok. Note that you will lose your old info such as "date added" etc.
You can go to the Apple Store online and select the Apple Software option to see the system requirements for iLife06.

ITunes Library Wiped out to Nothing...HELP!

Hi,
I have had an issue of my mini not being recognized in my iTunes although my library of songs, etc. was intact and all there.
I reinstalled the cd that came with my iPod, which says 'iPod' on the cd.
I think through this reinstallation, I completely erased all that was in my iTunes.
In 'My Music', the iTunes folder has my library on the computer, but even when I click on that folder, it still directs me to an empty library.
Please help me with how to get my library back in iTunes!!

Why after Downloading iTunes update it wiped out library and will not launch?

Just downloaded the latest update for iTunes, now Itunes will not launch, and looked in Windows Explorer and saw all the artist but songs folder was empty. Restored comp to earlier date but still have same problem

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with one of the Windows OS dlls associated with Cryptographic Services.
I'd first try the fixit from the following Microsoft document. (One of the things it does is reregister your copy of the softpub.dll file.)
You cannot install some updates or programs
... but if you still get the issue, I'd try an sfc /scannow as per the instructions in the following document:

ITunes podcast update maxes out both cores on MBP 2.16

On my new macBook Pro 2.16Ghz, there aren't too many normal operations that will run my cpu cores up to 100% each, but updating my podcasts in iTunes does it every time.
Not even transcoding multiple h.264 video files gets my cpu above 50%. why is it that updating my podcast xml feeds in iTunes maxes out both cores? If it starts taking more than a few seconds to update, my fans kick in and start getting progressively louder until the update completes or I cancel the update. Has anyone one else experienced this? is this a flaw in the itunes binary?
I have about 8 feeds that I'm subscribed to (diggnation, twit, eMacCast, dl.tv, etc).

it only happens when a feed starts to take too long to update (5-10+ seconds). some feeds just kind of hang when its trying to update. it seems like its stuck in a loop or something like that.

IPod library wiped out

I was downloading some video podcasts from iTunes when it quit by itself. I went back into iTunes and found that the podcasts were still downloading normally. However, after this happened, I found that all the music and videos that I had synced from my computer were missing. The ones that I downloaded straight from the iPad itself are still there. Anyone experienced the same problem?

yes i just got my ipod nano 4gen 16gb and when i was traveling i uploaded music onto it and when i got home i uploaded music and i ahve igleast $300 worth in music on my own not only fron itunes but other places and when i went home and sync new music i lost all of my other music so if any one can figure this out plz let me know im not very plzed with this being my first ipod

ITunes Podcast Library Duplication

I have a Mac OSX 10.8.5, which has two separate iTunes libraries.
Since the installation of iTunes 11.1.1, new podcasts have appeared on each lujbarary, so that they are bnoth exactly the same.
If I delete a podcast from one libarary it disappears from the other one! Very frustrating.....
Today I also had some old podcasts disappear from one of the libararies, a probelm which I understand others have suffered from.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem. I went into my applications folder, changed the permissions for iTunes to 'read and write' and then deleted it. I then took the previous version which I had backed up in Time machine (11.2.2 in my case) and dragged that into the folder. It works like normal.

Library wiped out upon startup of computer.

I left my new Ipod Shuffle connected to the computer last night. I turned it off when I went to bed and when I turned the computer back on in the morning the Itunes software came up and all songs in my library except one I had purchased the night before were gone. Are all your songs still in the usual folder(s) on your computer? Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

Does ipad 2 retrieve notes when connected back to itunes after being wiped out?

I need to wipe out my ipad, but after doing so when I reconnect it to my itunes will it retrieve the notes and contacts?

Only if you restore the iPad from a backup .... And if the Notes and contacts are in the backup. So... Backup your iPad before you wipe it and then restore from the backup when you set it up again.
