ITunes Podcast page Outdated?

Hey,
I noticed a lot of people having a similar problem, but their's all seems to be resolved fairly early.
Our last show on iTunes was supposedly released on 11th January.
But we've posted 3 new episodes from then, all which do download to our iTunes Subscribers, but it's very frustrating that they don't show up on our iTunes page.
<Edited by Host>

When subscribing, the iTunes application reads the feed directly, so changes are seen immediately. However the Store caches the feed, visiting it periodically to check for updates. It usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store, but it can take longer: recently there have been complaints that it seems to be taking an inordinately long time for episodes to appear, though it doesn't seem to be consistent. Since 11 January is an unusually long time, and your episodes should have appeared by now.
The fact that they can be subscribed to does suggest that the feed is OK - it has been known, though it's very unusual - for there to be some oddity in the feed which doesn't upset the iTunes application but does upset the Store: this is often to do with the use of redirection scripts rather than direct links. However it's more likely that you've just got caught up in the general slowness, and that your episodes will appear eventually.

  • How to show my iTunes podcast page in my facebook fanpage..

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to put their podcast page on iTunes onto the bandpage site on facebook..

The URL which you were given for the iTunes Store page for your podcast leads to what is an ordinary web page (with a link on to the Store page in iTunes). I don't know how Facebook works in this respect, but if you can in some way embed an ordinary web page then you should be able to do it with this (provided that Apple haven't taken steps to prevent the page being used within another page - it's possible to do that). You would have to find out from Facebook how to go about this.

  • Itunes podcast page backgroung

  • Is it possible to change the URL of an iTunes Podcast page itself (NOT the Feed URL)?

My company has an usual question:
While keeping all the individual podcasts the same, and the subject matter of the whole podcast series the same, my company would like to change the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  Is this possible, and how can it be done?
Again, I am talking about the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  The one that begins:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/career-...
We are having a small change in marketing emphasis.  So my company wants to change one of the dashed English words in the URL, after:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/
These English words were based on the original title of our podcast.  The original title of our podcast has changed slightly, with no problem.  Now my company just wants to change the URL assigned to us by Apple.
Let me emphasize: There is no purpose of misdirection, evasion, or deceit here -- not in the slightest.  My company is simply taking a different marketing angle.  Our category is staying the same.  The podcasts themselves are staying the same.  My company would just like to update the URL assigned to us by Apple to reflect our new podcast series name.
    ALSO:
We are a category-leading, very popular podcast.  If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we do not at all want to jeopardize our leading status in our podcast subject category.  We want all our download stats to move with us over to the new URL.  This is extremely important to us.
    AND FURTHER:
If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we want all our listeners to automatically find us at the new URL.  We don't want any of them to lose their subscription because we changed our URL.
    So in summary:
    1. CAN we change our podcast URL (the one assigned to us by iTunes)?
    2. Can we change the URL, but still keep our category-leading position and stats, exaclty as they are now?  That is, will our old download stats move with us to the new URL, so we can retain our category-leading position?
    3. Will podcast listeners going to the old URL automatically be forwarded to the new URL?  Might any of our current listeners become unsubscribed as a result of the URL change?
I know this is an unusual, complicated, and multi-part question.  I am looking for definitive, authoritative answers to all these questions.
Thank you very much for your help!!
    David

You can omit the title altogether in the URL (together with the succeeding slash, of course). For example, my own podcast URL in the Store is
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sound-of-78s/id166389425?mt=2
    but this works perfectly well:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id166389425
Indeed you can even put your own title:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/any_old_title/id166389425
So it's as simple as that!

  • ITunes podcast page not updating after changing feed

Several months ago I successfully published a podcast to the iTunes Store. The following is the location of my podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=335499017
Now, I've changed the feed URL as well as some of the details in the feed file (.xml). But the itunes page shows the old info! I made th URL change per the Apple guidelines (using the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag). I placed the new-feed-url tag on the OLD file only. I hope that's the right way to do it! I also created a 301 rediriect FROM the old feed TO the new one.
Does it take TIME for the change to take effect in itunes?

The feed URL registered with iTunes is http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml
There is nothing at this address. It makes no difference what you do anywhere else, until there is a feed file at this URL with the redirect tag in it iTunes cannot take any action.
I've updated the URL in the old feed file
Are you saying that the old feed file is at yet another URL? If you originally had another URL, and you placed a redirect tag in that to http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml then iTunes has redirected, and making alterations to the original feed is not going to have any effect since iTunes is no longer looking at it.
The only way out of this is to place at copy of the feed with the redirect tag at
    http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml

Have been using the the iTunes Podcasts Page for our class in Sports Broadcasting and is really causing trouble for all as we approach final exams and projects for the semester.

  • ITunes Looking for the "Title" of my iWeb Podcast Page/URL???

have created a podcast page in iWeb and tried to Submit to iTunes and now it asks for the Title of the Podcast???
Have filled in as many of the page names, file names as I think is possible and still get this message.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Would be great if they had a link on the iTunes submit page that would tell us what to do on iWeb.

You are making your podcast in WordPress and submitting it to Feedburner to pass on to the Store. If you want to change the title you have to do this in WordPress: however it looks as if Feedburner generates the feed filename from the title:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheInconvenientTruthFileInPodcastTheInconvenientTrut hExploringTheFactsBehindTheFictions
so if you change the title you will likely change the URL and iTunes will lose contact with the feed. I don't know whether it will do this (logically it shouldn't) but you would have to find that out from their Help (if any). Otherwise you can only try it and if the feed URL does change, change the title back.
As you don't have direct access to the Feedburner feed, then if Feedburner changes the URL you will not be able to add the redirection tag necessary to change iTunes to a different feed - so it's possible you may be stuck with what you've got.

  • Podcast items not showing on Podcast Page in iTunes App

The Podcast items of the following Podcast are not showing when I choose to see the Podcast page within iTunes App: https://itunes.apple.com/ch/podcast/uzh-news-video-und-audio/id626789977?l=en
It's possible to subscribe to the podcast, and all items are being shown in the library as well, but not in iTunes Store View within iTunes App.
    Please help : )
Devices: Desktop (iTunes 11.02), iPad 2 & iPhone 4S (both with latest iOS) - same problem everywhere

    Hi Roger
Many thanks for your very fast answer! : )
In the meantime, we scanned the XMLfrom the RSS-Source (http://www.uzh.ch/news/topics/multimedia.rss) but we could not confirm any missing </image> closing tag.. : /
You're speaking of 21 instances of 'image' tags while there are only 20 items available in this feed - maybe the 21st might be the <itunes:image... />-tag (for the podcast art) which is not in need of a closing tag?
We know that iTunes doesn't like our image tag on item level. However, we do need this tags for other usage of this video-article-feed (f.ex. normal RSS feed subscribing) which is why we cannot remove it. But: do you know of any «trick» of specifically blocking that element for iTunes store since its troubling the latter so much?
Many thanks again, and our kindest regards to you and beautiful Londontown : )

  • Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine.

Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes store. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine. How do I get iTunes to display it?

I've used Feedburner many times and never had such a problem. I am a bit confused, forgive me if I ask for questions already answerd. Have you tried updating the podcast in someone elses copy of iTunes? My guess is that the file is bad since it is working in other programs but not iTunes. I would try making a new .mp4 file and podcasting it and seeing if that works.
    Good luck!

  • How do I change the "by" field in the iTunes Preview page for my podcast?

The name of the podcast has changed, but it now looks like this on the iTunes preview page:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/[new name]-podcast/[numbers]
    iTunes Preview
    [new name] podcast
    By [old name]
I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the "by" part. The other information changed automatically after I updated it in the host, libsyn.

Thanks a lot. There doesn't seem to be a way to change it in Libsyn so I thought it might have been an iTunes thing. They were very helpful when I asked them to change the slug for me earlier. I'll ask them about this too. Here's what Libsyn allows me to change:
Edit: Found it in the Lybsin knowledge database.

RSS Feed: Setting the Feed Author
Posted by Krystal O. on 16 November 2011 02:05 PM
One of the most common questions received by our support team is how to change the author in iTunes to show as them instead of "unknown". This is done by updating the author tag in your RSS feed.
Start by logging into your Dashboard and clicking on Destinations.
A new screen will appear with a list of your Destinations along the left hand side. Click on your RSS feed.
On this page is a text box specifically for Author, enter your Author as you would like it to appear in iTunes. You will also see the ability to input a name and an e-mail address, note that the name and e-mail address are used by iTunes should they need to contact you regarding your Podcast and are not publicized in the store.
?Once you have entered the information you want, just your changes. iTunes should update within a few days.

  • The image for my podcast is displaying in Itunes preview pages, but does not display when I subscribe

So the image arwork is appearing here:
    http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/wa-families-of-the-future/id538653708
However after I have subscribed, the artwork for this one doesn't come up in my iTunes podcast folder. The related RSS feed for this link is:
    http://feed.viostream.com/891c439f-75f2-47aa-93d9-22508893b5bb

While the image which appears in the Store page is referenced in the feed, the image which appears when you select a downloaded episode after subscribing is not: it has to be actually embedded in each episode's media file. Please see this page for a full explanation:

  • How to get podcast arrow to go to iTunes store page

Right now, when I click on the arrow next to the name of my podcast, it goes to the website affiliated with the podcast instead of the podcast page on the iTunes store like most podcasts do. How can I fix this?
The feed is located at http://www.uscaacf.org/aacfpodcast.xml

The <link> tag is the url that the "website" button on the podcast's page will go to.
I have several feeds in the iTunes podcast directory, none of them list the iTunes URL anywhere in them.
I think that podcast page link is generated automatically when the podcast is submitted to iTunes.
In your case, I did a search for your podcast in iTunes, subscribed to the feed, clicked on the -> next to your podcast name and got your podcast directory page...not your website. Clicking on the website link on the podcast's directory page brought up the USC AACF website.
    Seems to work for me.

  • My itunes store podcast page

Is it possible to customize the page that displays when you are looking for podcasts in the iTunes store? I submitted a podcast I made, and in the process you submit a URL for the small graphic on the podcast page, but in the iTunes store, there are featured albums or podcasts that have background graphic and it looks like customizable content. Anyone one know if this is possible for anyone uploading content to the itunes store, or just features. For a good illustration of what I'm talking about, look at the smithsonian page here http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcasts.html

    Thanks Roger,
I would have never have found this on my own! Hiding in plain sight
Somehow this tag got set in my FeedForAll template and then got replicated as I cloned new episodes into the feed.
I've already fixed the tags and upload the new XML.
    Thanks again.

  • Can't get Education Podcasts page in iTunes store

I'm running the latest version of iTunes (11.0.5) on the latest version of Mountain Lion on a 2009 iMac and neither the Education Podcasts page or the Higher Education Podcasts page will show up in the iTunes store when I try to launch them.  The screen is just empty.  I've tried trashing and re-installing the iTunes app but that does not fix the problem.
They used to show up but no longer.  They stopped sometime after I installed iTunes 11.0.4 but not sure if that's what caused the problem.
This is an irritant to me because I produce an educational podcast and I like to check where it stacks against the competition.
I assume there is probably a prefs file I need to trash but which one?
    thanks!
    David

Apple only has a license to sell TV Shows in the US at present. The lack of Movies and TV shows is not unique to Canada by any means. The reason that stores for different countries have different content is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies, film companies, TV companies and other copyright holders. These are quite often completely different from country to country and therefore all require their own individual contract negotiations. The varying content is not imposed by Apple, who would have a much easier job if they only had to maintain one multi-national store and deal with one set of licensees.

  • How long does itunes:new-feed-url take to completely change my podcast page?

I've used the itunes:new-feed-url to change my podcast page, but I'm curious how long it takes. I have a new episode up, but the podcast page located here doesn't show that third episode, even though the new feed as well as 301 redirect is in place.

The Store won't redirect to the new feed at http://www.tripodbroadcasting.com/givethatsomethought/feed/ until the next time it checks the old feed. You posted the latest episode only today: it usually takes 1-2 days for new episode to appear in the Store as it caches feeds and visits them in rotation to check for changes. When this happens it will transfer to the new feed. Subscribers are already redirected to the new feed and see the third episode.
