ITunes & Podcast Subscriptions

Hi
Yesterday I subscribed to 3 extra podcasts using my MacBook Pro and iTunes, and immediately that I went to the Podcast page of iTunes I get the spinning disc of death and iTunes becomes non responsive and I have to force quit. Once I quit and even reboot computer I can happily use iTunes UNTIL i open Podcasts and hello spinning disc. I cant even get in to delete podcasts or is there another way. Appreciate advice and help
Thanks
Sooby

Yes, sir, this one: http://iheartlifeinc.com/?feed=rss2 aka iheartlifeinc.com/feed/. But is there a way to track subscriptions on my end?  I don't know why iTunes is using this feed iheartlifeinc.com/feed/ when I submitted this feed when I set it up: http://iheartlifeinc.com/?feed=rss2. I'm not seeing what happened or why there's a redirect.

  • How do I move my iTunes podcast subscriptions to a new computer?

I have a Dell computer running Windows XP.
I just purchased an Inspiron laptop running Vista and want to move my podcast subscriptions (I have a lot of them) to the new installation of iTunes on the laptop.
I cannot find any instructions on how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks. - Love my iPhone!

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. On a PC the default location is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have and iPod, some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch): How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • ITunes podcast subscriptions direct acces through iPad?

As I am part of academia, and I know many people are interested in using the iPad as an educational tool. The reason I bought the iPad was as a content consumption tool.
Is there a way to subscribe to podcasts using only and only the iPad?
I think it is ironic that while we have an Apple server that hosts our podcasts, there is not a way to consume or subscribe an acces our podcasts through the iPad and or iPhone or iPod touch.
The iPad has the following Apps by default: Safari, iTunes and videos.
I would think that with these apps, anyone would be able to subscribe to podcasts in the iPad. But that's not the case. I hope this changes with iPhone OS 4.
Students should be able to subscribe and access podcasts only through the iPad, and more where the WIFI bandwidth in American, European and Asian universities is very wide and fast.
Please let me know if there are any apps that allow me to do this.
I understand the syncing, but at this point, I believe that the new paradigm that Apple has set with touch devices like the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, should not require a desktop computer. These devices should be self-standing.

I just searched the apps store and got numerous hits. They seem to be specific and not general purpose, like iTunes, but you may see what you need.
Go to the apps store and search on "podcast".
Note, the iPhone apps will also work on the iPad.

  • How to Backup Podcast Subscriptions?

How do you backup the iTunes podcast subscriptions (don't want to backup the actual media files, just the subscriptions)?
I want to be able to restore exactly where I left off as well. I don't want to have to re-download all the episodes from the subscription and remove the ones I've already listened to.
Also would like to use the backup feature to synchronize between my home iTunes subscriptions and work.
If the feature is not built into iTunes, is there a file, a folder, a registry key that contains the information?
    iTunes 6.0.2.23 for Windows
    Thank you.
Windows XP Pro   iTunes 6.0.2.23 for Windows

Firstly, I would also like to have a "profile backup" option, or at least let me specify a folder for these files. (like it can be done for the iTunes Music Folder)
    My little workaround:
The files you are looking for reside in your "My Documents" folder in your windows user directory. Look for "My Music" which should contain the iTunes folder. In there are two files:
    iTunes Library.itl (binary - *****)
iTunes Music Library.xml (song file information)
These files are responsible for holding the information on subscriptions.
    I'm a iTunes-only user, no iPod.
What I did to have "my" iTunes from work and from home is this:
*) Use of a USB-HD, where I place my "iTunes Music Folder", to have all files just in one place.
*) Wrote a little script which copies the two mentioned files from my user directory folder to the USB-HD and vice-versa. This script resides on the computer from which I start iTunes, to copy the files to the right directory.
If you just want to have your subscriptions available from multiple places (and no song files), a USB stick might do as well. Even for a few song files too, depending on the size of it.

  • Any free video hosting services meant for iTunes podcasts?

Any free video hosting services meant for iTunes podcasts? I have found free audio hosting ones for iTunes podcasts, but are there any videos ones? THANKS!

The best I found was after searching YouTube for, how to prepare a video podcast to submit to iTunes Directory.
Several instructional videos come up that are worth watching. The two I initially found are recommended are podbean.com and podomatic.com.
I tried podbean.com, which easily generated the RSS feed iTunes requires, which I was able to successfully copy into the iTunes store line on Submit a Podcast to the iTunes Directory. Podbean has many helpful instructions on how to use their site and submit your video to iTunes.
Since I wasted 3 weeks trying to understand https://discussions.apple.com/message/23110806#23110806, other apple.com insructions, searching the internet, calling senior advisors in Apple Care (none of whom knew or could read this apple.com page either) I was really happy just to find one way to be able to do it. And easily too.
The only way you can possibly get an answer from Apple is to email [email protected], the iTunes Store says, since there is no phone support. Then I was told to wait 10 working days for a reply.
Thank goodness I finally searched YouTube. (There were many other confusing and difficult instructions on the internet.)
After uploading small video files onto my new site at podbean.com, at least I got 3 short videos onto iTunes that show in my computer's iTunes podcast subscriptions and they downloaded successfully. I understand I must wait a few days to get an ID from iTunes directory, which will then list my videos to the pubic as available in ITunes.
Podbean.com does have up to 100 mb free web hosting. (No video can bemore than 30 mb.) But it does allow everything iTunes needs, including a cover photo and description. All future feeds will be automatiically seen by iTunes through the podbean url that was given you, that you pasted into iTunes when you first submitted your podcast. So you only have to do this once, I understand.
Podbean wants to entice you to purchase more space so they show various prices.
I'm still wondering if somehow I could link my existing youtube videos (or facebook, myspace, vimeo, Flickr duplicates) in a field somewhere and link to them. Maybe?
Now that I know to use a web host that generates all the xml and RSS feed behind the scenes (since I don't know how) I'll explore these options, and the other site, podomatic.com.
Let us know if there are other good, free ones for video.
(One YouTube video said mypodcast.com is good for mp3 audio podcasts, FYI.)

  • ITunes "Forgets" Podcast Subscriptions

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) and iTunes has started a disturbing behavior. It forgets podcast subscriptions if there are no episodes in iTunes for it to sync. I listen to several daily podcasts that I delete after listening to them. Since I have upgraded the OS, I have to re-subscribe to these podcasts on my iPod Touch whenever I get a new episode if there were no episodes in iTunes at the time. Am I missing a setting in iTunes or something that is making the iPod Touch forget its podcast subscriptions? Thanks for your help.

I am also having this problem.

  • ITunes stopps updating podcast subscriptions

    Hello!
I use iTunes for a long time now to subscribe and archive podcasts, even though mostly I listen to them on my iPhone these days.
So far everything worked fine, but a few weeks ago I noticed, that iTunes stopped the automatic update of some podcasts. These subscriptions were marked with a little exclamation mark. When I clicked that I got the following message meaning in English "iTunes stopped the automatic update of this podcast, because you didn't listen to an episode recently. Do you wish to continue automatic update of this podcast?".
Since I normaly listen to podcasts these day on my iPhone and use iTunes mainly to archive some podcasts I like (some of them go back almost 8 years now on my hard drive) it can happen that I don't listen to episodes on my computer for weeks. But I still wish iTunes to update and download the latest episodes of some subscriptions in the background without me having to think about it.
Now since I noticed this behaviour after about two months it caused me some trouble since I missed downloading some episodes that are not anymore in the feeds :-(
Anyway, is there a way to stopp iTunes from doing that? Of course I answered the above question with "Yes" but now a few weeks later I noticed iTunes again stopping to update one of the podcasts.
Maybe this behaviour was added with the best intentions but it is very annoying if it can't be turned off. So far I didn't find an option for that in the settings, is there one in iTunes for that?
    Thanks and greetings!

iTunes will stop updating a podcast subscription if you have more than five episodes downloaded but not listened to, as detailed in this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23353
    which states:
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.
There is an AppleScript available which will apparently deal with this (I've not tried it):

  • Podcast subscriptions disappear Itunes 12

Most of my Podcast subscriptions have disappeared.  This has happened more than once recently. As suggested in another post, I've tried importing from the ITunes Media library but that seems to have done nothing.
    What's causing this?
How do I recovery my subscriptions?
How do I stop it happening again?
Running ITunes 12 fully up-to-date as of 16 Nov 2014 on Windows 7 fully up-to-date. Syncing with Iphone6.

  • ITunes combined two podcast subscription lists

We have always  maintained two machines (one mac one pc) with iTunes keeping separate podcast subscriptions but  linked libraries for music.  11.1 decided to download all subscribed podcasts on both machines to both machines.  Our tastes diverge on podcasts so keeping them separate is a good idea.
I'm guessing we are stuck with this but what is the best strategy to deal with separating the two lists?  The best option I have so far would be
his and hers playlists If the my stations list actually functions as a play list....  On the up side I can now just put a big harddrive in a NAS on the network and be done with duelling libraries.

Well, I hear your response, and it confirms what I understand about the issue. I'm trying to understand how it's "Not allowed." Usually Not Allowed would preface a rule to prevent some sort of disorder. However it seems that moving something as simple as a url subscription from the ipod to an itunes program would be a simple matter and would not require any code of ethics.
Now it may be that it has yet to be part of the itunes program, but it certainly should be, or perhaps there is some sort of work-around.
You see, on my computer with the latest subscriptions, iTunes does not properly sync the podcasts for which I have subscriptions, but just 'renews' al;l the podcasts I have already listened to, and my older subscriptions iTunes seems to function a little better for whatever reason.

  • ITunes upgrade deletes all podcast subscriptions

I just upgraded to 9.2, and afterwards, all of my podcast subscriptions had been deleted, which means that I have to go re-subscribe to them all. This isn't the first time this has happened with an upgrade. Talk about a royal pain! Is there something I'm supposed to back up before upgrading to avoid this?
    Thanks.

    Hey The Zach
I would check what is set to sync in the Podcast tab in iTunes when the iPhone is plugged in. There may be a setting that may be removing it when you sync your iPhone with iTunes.

  • ITunes stops refreshing podcast subscriptions. How do I turn this "feature" off?

I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts through iTunes. If I don't listen to a podcast from one of my subscriptions in a while, iTunes automatically decides to stop updating the subscription (and I have to manually tell it to resume downloading new podcasts). I want to turn this "feature" off. I'd like it to automatically update all of my podcast subscriptions whether I've listened to a podcast from that subscription recently or not.

This is ridiculous to not be able to bypass.  Over the past two years, I have probably had to manually re-subscribe to 500+ podcasts. A total waste of time.

  • Running iTunes 10.5.3.3 - On my device there are podcast headers with no podcasts in them and I cannot seem to delete them. How can I get rid of these empty podcast subscriptions?

I have a Classic iPod with current software and I am running iTunes 10.5.3.3. On my device there are Podcast subscriptions but all of the podcasts have been deleted from them. Is there a way to get rid of the header (i.e. the Podcast subscription title)?

This has happened to a number of users lately.  Usually the only way to remove them to restore the iPod to factory settings.

  • Podcasts subscriptions corrupted after installing iTunes 5

I have my podcasts set to update manually and after installing iTunes 5 I noticed that when I try to update them iTunes showed there are no new episodes when clearly (and iTunes podcast directory confirmed it) there were.
Then I noticed "subscribe" button in the podcast directory's page for my podcasts was active and after i re-subscribed to all of my podcats (for example TWIT) iTunes added an identical TWIT podcast entry to my podcasts list and started re-downloading ALL of the podcasts i already had along with the new episodes.
So now i have a choice of either having to re-download all of my podcasts in order to get new ones OR be without new episodes untill this is fixed. And re-downloading all of my podcats is not an option cause of my connection. Also i don't wanna have duplicate entries for my podcasts in order to have the new episodes.
I really hope iTunes 5.1 comes out soon and fixes these bugs. In my opinion, this is the buggiest release of iTunes for Windows Apple ever made.

ME TOO. Now I want to know how I can DOWNgrade iTunes.
Also, when I have left iTunes open for a while, I come back to it, and the window is all indecipherable garbage.
And don't waste your time. I have done it all, and nothing has helped. I either download podcast by painful podcast or I don't get anything at all.

  • HT6546 How do you get podcast subscriptions to download on my iMac?

I had several podcast subscriptions automatically downloading daily to iTunes on my iMac. When I installed Maverick they stopped and I can't find a way to get them started again. I looked for help on the iTunes site and all it talks about is in connection with a device and nothing about my computer. It tells me to click on things that do not exist and is totally worthless. I tried to resubscribe in the normal manner and it doesn't work beyond downloading a single episode while I wait. it only downloads at the speed of listening to it. How do I get these podcasts started again?

The very first thing you should have done when you got the new External was to change to Mac compatible to Extended and Journaled then all will be well again. Get out the paperwork that came with the Drive and read it.

As I have added podcast subscriptions to my itunes podcast list on the far left menu window the list is in a random order.  How do I aphabetize the podcast list ?   Can I arrange them manually ?

I have about 500 bookmarks ..   and they are arranged within 60 folders.  I would like to see them in chronological order as before, because now to find a bookmark is a hard task.
