Itunes podcasts are showing up twice

After restoring my itunes library, my podcast subscriptions are listed twice. The podcasts themselves aren't duplicated, just split between multiple subscriptions with the same name
Technically I know the reason why this is happening. It is because the podcast author at some point have changed the URL feed for their podcast. So some episodes come from an old URL location and some from the new location.
I have found similar posts from windows users that recommend using MP3 tag software to change the URL. I couldn't find a mac equivalant but I found a version that someone had converted to run on a mac. I was able to install it and change the url in the software, but it did not change it in itunes.
Any suggestions on how to get all of the podcasts under one subscription title?

You'll probably find that the Podcast's producer has changed the URL of the Podcast's location. In other words, the newer episodes are now located in a different place to the old ones. They may have been forced to change their Host (where the Podcasts are stored). I have a Podcast which has the same thing happen and as you say, all episodes, old and new are in the same folder.
You can check whether this is what has happened by, in iTunes:
Right-click the Podcast's title, (not an episode, but the main title with the arrow next to it) and choose *Show Description* which will show the *Information box* with the URL listed. Are the two different?
Podcast URLs are sometimes quite complex, so if you cannot see the difference, try this:
Right-click the Podcast's title and choose *Copy Podcast URL* and paste it into a text editor, such as Word or even Windows Notepad. Copy the other one and place it on a new line immediately underneath the first one. Are they different?
What can you do about it? Unfortunately, nothing as far as I know.

The file is called "Template_File.indd"
So, as discussed the main issues are:
1) The TOC doesn't generate all the listings (only those with the applied paragraph style "Heading 1 - Appendix")
2) When I try to create a new pargraph style and apply it to existing or new text, it reads the pargraph style in the Paragraph Style menu, but the style doesn't actually apply.
Hopefully you can figure something out from this. I really appreciate your help.

My recent podcasts are showing on iTunes site but not in podcast app or iTunes

Hi,
I've never used this forum before, but am struggling to find out what is going wrong with my podcasts.
I have a podcast that has been running fine for some time, but now no longer updates in the podcast app, or in my podcast subscriptions in iTunes.

The last episode I can see in my iTunes podcast subscriptions and podcast app is episode 55, yet the most recent, episode 59, shows fine on the itunes website.
Is there a reason that I can listen to the most recent episode via the itunes site, but my subscriptions wont update?
It seems that the problem has been experienced by several people.
As far as I'm aware, I havent changed the way I do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

The 'itunes:summary' tag for the episode of 19th January ends like this -
"This year, I will exercise more.&quot...</itunes:summary>
As the '"' tag has been truncated you have an ampersand (indicating the start of a code sequence) but the code is never finished. This renders the rest of the feed unreadable, and as that includes the closing tags the entire feed is invalidated and iTunes cannot read it.
There's no reason to have all these '"' tags - just type " (iTunes won't render the code but will display it, which looks messy) - but in any case don't let a code be truncated like that or you will have this problem.
Incidentally it's better all round to start your own thread when you have a query, rather than tag on to an existing one which can cause confusion if a discussion is ongoing. You're also more likely to be noticed.

Not all of my iTunes scripts are showing up in iTunes

My itunes scripts are in Users/Apple/Library/iTunes/Scripts. Some of them show up and work in iTunes and some do not. I was wondering if anyone might know why? I am using iTunes 11.

On itunes on my PC I see all of my films. If I use a device, lets say an iphone5, I go to the itunes store and then over to movies then over to "Purchased" and then to either "All" or "Not on this iPhone" certain films, like Tangled, don't show up. Same if I go to videos:movies, the icon for Tangled isn't there.

Podcasts are showing up under Albums, Songs and Artists categories on iPod

I recently purchased an iPod - 80gb. I used iTunes to subscribe to several podcasts.
On iTunes the podcasts are in the podcasts folder, the music is in the music folder - happy days!
However, on my ipod, as well as being listed under the podcast category, they are also accessible from Albums, Artists and Songs. This is seriously annoying.
Is this a bug? A girl who worked in the Apple store seems to think it might be when I brought my ipod in for them to check.
I use iTunes only to manage podcasts and music. I tried a restore and it's still the same.
The related issue is that while the podcasts sync fine and appear as desired in the podcast category, the played podcasts are still available via Albums, Artists and Songs even though I've instructed iTunes to only sync unplayed items.
Will this be fixed? Is there a workaround?

Unless Apple changes the software, there is no real fix. If you don't want podcasts to play when you're shuffling your music library, make sure the podcasts are set to Skip When Shuffling (under Get Info). And you can send your feedback to Apple here:

ITunes: podcasts are not updating automatically

Hi,
My podcasts are not updating automatically in iTunes as they as they should.
My Mac and iTunes are running 24/7, so iTunes it always running. The update interval of the podcast is set to hourly, latest iTunes, latest Mac OS X.
The podcast actually does update if I re-start iTunes or, if I manually update the podcasts (there is always the latest 1 or 2 daily episodes of say NBC nightly news available, but not yet downloaded)... (but this is not a great solution as I am using iTunes through Plex, the Mac is mor a TV/Mediacenter for my family; Plex can access playlists and podcasts in iTunes, but obviously it cannot trigger iTunes to update, so I have to go out of Plex to update iTunes, very annoying)
How can I ge my my podcasts to be downloaded automatically by iTunes.

Here is a screenshot of the phenomenon/problem... NBC Nightly News is not updated, even both the computer and iTunes are running constanly. Once I click update podcast, the podcast updates, so there is an update available.

ITunes Podcasts are transferred to AppleTV as MOVIES... They are PODCASTS?

AppleTV software Version 3.01. All iTunes U Podcasts are downloaded to AppleTV into the MY Movies section not into the My Podcasts section. iTunes U Podcasts never appear in the Podcasts section. All my other Podcasts appear normally in the My Podcasts section. Software problem or my problem?

You'll see iTunes U podcasts listed separately in iTunes to either podcasts or movies.
I just think AppleTv doesn't know about them, but it would make more sense for them to be in podcasts or an iTunes U genre of Movies.

Hard drive crashed awhile ago, got new one but now some of my purchased iTunes songs are showing they are downloaded but NOT in library and it won't let me download to library. any help?

I restored most back but some of my purchased music is saying it is downloaded but it is nowhere to be found. I don't understand why I can't get the music I already paid for back in my library. Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

You have to sign in and download each iTunes account individually.

There are more and better popup and ad blockers for Firefox, than for Safari.
I use GlimmerBlocker for Safari, and it does alright, but I have three AdBlockers for Firefox and I see no popups. The occasional page will warn that it can't load because of the ad blockers, but that just tells me it's a site I don't want or need to visit.

I checked the first URL - you have an image correctly referenced in the feed and present on the server. The Store can sometimes be quite slow to show images so I'm afraid it's just a question of waiting.

Music files are showing as twice their real size

hi all I just transferred 40 gb of mp3 files to my new mac from my old pc using a thumb drive. however the mac finder says that the files are taking up 80 gb of disc space. itunes correctly shows it as 40 gb. I tried compressing the whole music folder but the machine tells me there is not enough space. help!

When you say the files are twice their real size, did you actually check a single individual file and find that this is the case?

Games and podcasts are showing up in my source list but won't transfer

My son just upgraded from an ipod shuffle to a nano 2nd gen. I have downloaded the latest version of itunes. He bought a game and got some podcasts. They show up in the source list but won't transfer to the nano. I have tried restoring the nano but that did not help. Any suggestions?

Make sure to enable podcasts on the iPod nano. When you plug it in pick the iPod nano in the source list and then click on the podcasts tab. Then enable the transfer of the ones you want. I believe that the games are only playable on the 5th gen iPod not the nano. Sorry about that

My podcasts are showing up on a wrongly named provider page

I created 4 podcasts that suddenly showed up on a provider page named "Autodesk Maya" (which happens to be the last podcast that I created). This is not the correct name for the provider page as it should be just "Autodesk". As documented in the FAQ, I selected Report a Concern > Remove a Podcast and explained that I wanted to have the provider name corrected for all my podcasts (I listed them in the text box). I got an on-screen message that I had successfully removed my podcast and that was it! So now I am unsure of what is going to happen...do I just wait patiently? Will I be contacted by iTunes Staff by email at some point?

'Remove a podcast' will get the entire podcast removed from the iTunes Store. The Author name of this podcast is 'Workflows and Dynamic Media Group, Autodesk', which is what it says in the 'itunes:author' tag in your feed - which is at

It's entirely up to you what it says in this tag: if it's not what you want you can change it wherever you originally entered it in whatever method you are using to create your feed.
Or are you saying that you have episodes turning up in the wrong podcast? If so it's up to you to remove them from the feed and add them to the correct feed - iTunes simply reads the feed as it stands and takes no action of its own.

ITunes match has deleted a playlist and all my itunes library are showing errors on my mac, it wont update

I have logged into iTunes on my Mac and found that one of my playlists has been wiped and that every single of my 12000 songs has an error saying that it cant be loaded in itunes match when they are all there.

Kind of a similar issue. I have long recordings of a radio show I like to catch up on on my mobile devices. All of this kind of media were greyed out and yet initally played. Then they would not play after a sync but could be seen. Also palyback position was lost despite being set in options. Crudley fixed by turning iTunes Match off on the device and resync. KInd of defeats the object of the subscrition though. :-(
Obviously its a great idea to have everung backed up in the Cloud but there's still a lot of user niggles coming to light it seems. Good luck.
