Itunes privileges error

1. I recieved a new iphone 4 after a repair right as itunes 10.5 was released.
2. In order to activate my phone I needed to sync with itunes, so I decided to update itunes before I activated my phone so it would download the new features.
3a. During the update process/installation process an error occurred regarding Apple Mobile Device manager, it rolled back installation to a point but soon continued.
3b. Somewhere in this action a message popped up saying that I did not have  proper privilages to run the Mobile Device appliaction.
4. At the end of the installation everything seemed fine, I clicked finish.
5. An error ("Error 2") imediately occured which prohibited me from even launching itunes at all.
6. After dozens of hours spent troubleshooting this issue nothing has worked. I tried installing 10.3 to be safe. That worked, and I got my songs back, but now my Iphone and Itouch both won't sync or be properly recognized. For a time I was getting a driver error too.
7. I finally had to resort to using a friends itunes to activate my iphone (unfortunately I lost all my contacts and cannot sync any music).
I'm a bit of an avant-garde, tech savy college student, so I figured this would be a simple fix. Never thought I'd be wasting hours upon hours fixing this.
My Laptops Specs:

SMBIOS Version          2.6

I've tried:
1. Repairing itunes, mobile app manage, quicktime, bonjour, apple update, ect.
2. Erasing all apple programs, applications, and processes and reinstalling.
3. Erasing and reinstalling as administrator.
4. Installing "anti-itunes" programs like Copytrans, Media Monkey, and Transee (these all failed to recognize my devices also, leading me to believe it's not only an apple mobile device error, but also a driver error).
5. Reseting my drivers.
6. Reseting my iphone and itouch.
7. Using Winrar to individuallly start each itunessetup.exe process (still got the same errors).
8. and pretty much read ever "straightforward" forum and abstract forum regarding this issue with no preveal.
PLEASE help, I'm litterally begging. It seems so simple.
My last resort seems to be buying a new laptop or reformatting my HD, both of which I would rather not do.
I would much appreciate if anyone can help.
Thank you!

Hmmm. Eset software is our prime candidate for the issue. But usually we can configure it so that it stops brutalising people's iTunes libraries.
Try reinstalling it again, and use its updating functions to catch up on any definitions and patches you might have lost due to the uninstall.
Which particular version of NOD32 or Smart Security do you have? (That can make a difference to the configuration changes that we have to make.)

    Hi!
So i think i closed the wrong service at some point a few weeks back (apple mobile device) but iTunes remained working after that for another week. I then updated iTunes and i get the same  "Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." every time. If i click ignore, just so i can access iTunes with out syncing my iPod (touch 2nd gen) i then get 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)" when it has all installed. I don't understand what the problem is anymore as I have looked at other questions on the apple website, carried out the advice and it hasn't work. Any of them.
    Tings I have done:
    - Wiped all iTunes and Apple data from my computer (if you search for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' nothing comes up apart from applets from system code.
    - Attached iPod before iTunes install and updated drivers.
    - Installed iTunes as 'Run as administrator'
    - Uninstalled and re-installed the software nearly 20 times now and rebooted the computer in between everytime.
Please someone help because i really need to get music on my ipod and i enjoy the ease of use of iTunes compared to spotify or Windows Media Player.

Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

  • Help!!! iTunes install error "Apple Mobile Device Service Failed To Start". Error 7 (Windows Error 193)

Help! Following a standard upgrade I got the error message "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 193).
I am running Windows 7 and installing again brings the message "Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
I have uninstalled everything Apple, deleted all related folders and run as administrator numerous times with no luck.
I had hoped that iTunes 12.1.2 would resolve the issue, unfortunately it failed to do so leaving me iTunes free which is driving me mad!
Can anyone advise what else I can do to resolve the error and bring back iTunes?
    Thanks

  • Itunes + quicktime error message - service 'ipod service' (ipod service) fa

Help! Got new iPod Nano for Christmas and I STILL cannot get it to show up in iTunes - it has showed up in my device manager - with an over the icon - "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Drivers. - Then another error - Wizard cannot find the software to instal -(my iPod did not come with a disk!!!) I have done the "R's" several times! Downloaded and installed and uninstalled several x's from iTunes. Changed USB locations - I have three to choose from. Now - I am 'repairing' the latest installation from iTunes and I get this "itunes + quicktime error message - service 'ipod service' (ipod service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". Any ideas??? I'm not a computer genious....but I'm not a complete newbie, either! I am so FRUSTRATED!!!! This should be that difficult - I added additional RAM and it was a breeze and successful! This is just ridiculous! Any one have any other ideas???? I have read so much - even emptied the battery and recharged!!! HELP! Please! I just wanna hear some music!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Thanks - I got it to install by going into 'run' to get to permissions, etc. So that seems OK - but my computer is still not acknowledging iPod software and for some reason iTunes is now showing 'the URL could not be opened' when I go into Help for iPod. It's still not showing up in Itunes, either

  • How to reinstall iTunes with Error 2?

How can I get assistance to download and reinstall iTunes on my Vista powered PC?  I had a horrible adware virus and removed iTunes only to find I get error messages telling me to uninstall and then reinstall while trying to install it.
    1. I receive an iTunes Helper Error Window when I restart my computer that says “Apple application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes Helper. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows Error 2).”
    2. In addition, I receive a message from iTunes that says, “Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.”  The three options are ABORT, RETRY, IGNORE.  If I abort of course the install is closed.  If I retry I get the same messages.  If I Ignore I am taken back to the Error 1 above.
I want to be able to connect and sync my PC with my iPad and Android Cell Phone so I can share contacts, calendar events, music, etc.  Please direct me to where or how I might get support and instructions for these problems.
    Thank You
I posed a similar request a week or so ago and think it was answered but I lost it or do not know how to find it.  Please pass along some instruction so I can receive and read and hopefully resolve my current problems.  [email protected]
PS  I also have some problems with getting iCloud mail to show my email from Outlook.  But I will request that in a separate request after resolving this problem.  Thank you in advance.  Barry

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes Installation Error Message?

I recently had to install an update for iTunes. After the update was installed, I was promted by an error message that "iTunes was not installed correctly", and that I needed to reinstall iTunes. Once I completed the process of uninstalling iTunes, I began to reinstall iTunes. After the reinstallation process, I was then prompted by another error message that had said, "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)." I have continued to receive this error prompt every time that I have attempted to reinstall iTunes. I have even followed troublshooting procedures on this Apple Support page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926  and still have not had any luck. Is there anyone that can help me with this please?

    Hello there, John.
The following Knowledge Base article addresses the very issue you're describing:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Updating iTunes with error message "this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found"?

After updating iTunes, has anyone got the message "this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." message and "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)"?  I've tried everything from un-installing and re-installing iTunes to deleting the SC Info. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
