ITunes problems after upgrading - progress bar "updating library"

after upgrading iTunes to the latest version I open iTunes and a progress bar appears "updating library". After a few seconds it stucks and I do not get a response at all. I have to cancel the program in the Windows Task Manager. Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers

You might try rebooting your computer. Select Shutdown and let the computer turn off. Then start it up again and see if the problem is corrected.

  • Can't update iTunes Match after upgrading to 11.1.5

    Hi,
Is anyone else (in Australia) having problems with iTunes Match after upgrading to iTunes 11.1.5 on Mac? I’ve found that whenever I play a track (i.e. update the play count), set a rating or edit a playlist, all my cloud songs become greyed out, the updates are not synced to the cloud (don’t appear on other devices), the iTunes Cloud music icon gets a lightning bolt through it (lost connect), and then my changes are lost. I can reconnect as many times as I like (by clicking on the cloud icon or restarting iTunes) and for a while everything ‘looks’ fine (can download and play songs) but actually nothing is saved to the cloud and the lightning bolt appears again when I make any of the above updates. I have another computer that still has 11.1.4 and iTunes Match is working fine on it.
    James

Thanks Michael, I’d already tried both those (including applying the latest OS X security update and restarting). I kept trying to use iTunes Match every hour, and eventually it started working on my 11.1.5 computer and has staying working for the rest of the day. 11.1.4 was working the whole time.

  • URGENT: progress bar update problem

    Hi,
I have the following problem: I have a JWindow that displays as a Splash screen at the start of my application. On that I have a progress bar that updates upto 60% (there is no task associated with it, I simply create a thread that does this). In the main thread, i wait for this thread to complete and then display a login dialog box on top of the splash screen. At this time, the progress bar is not increasing.
After logging in correctly, I wish that the login dialog box be disposed, and i should be able to see the progress bar reach completion, after which i want a JFrame to be displayed with a lot of components, and after this JFrame is displayed, i want the splash screen to be disposed.
However, the progress bar updates itself properly till the login dialog is displayed. when i click enter on the dialog box, although i have called dispose, the part of the dialog box over the splash screen reamins visible, and the progress bar is no longer updated. I have printed System.out.println statements in the run part of the thread doing the update, and this shows that the progress bar value goes on to reach 100. but the GUI is not updated.
Can any1 explain why this is happening? Any help inthis matter would be highly appreciated... Pls reply URGENTLY!!! i've already spent three days looking into this!!!
    Thanks...
    Shefali Panchal

Caution with using threads to update the display -
look at the Swing __utility__ class methods, I seem to remember that
there are 2 methods in which you pass a thread instance
(which can contain display update calls)and this is called and maintained within the event despatch thread - this should mean
that display updates are done correctly.
Refer to Swing documentataion with regard to utility methods
    Hope this is of help

  • Problems after upgrading to iTunes version 6

    Hello,
I've been going through the threads a lot since I have had problems after upgrading to iTunes v. 6. It looks like a lot of people have had the same issues, and I have tried some things that were recommended. After I upgraded, iTunes would not open. I tried:
    1. deleting sidb file
    2. doing the msconfig thing suggested in discussion boards
    3. going into safe mode and deleting 4 and 6 letter weird files in DOS - I found 3 that I deleted
iTunes worked after this -- then I bought a song and it said my computer was not authorized, after I authorized computer (that never happened before), iTunes worked for about 15 more minutes and then closed down abruptly. I haven't been able to open it since.
I also downloaded Spybot search & destroy and that did not find anything. I am using McAfee, and have scanned for viruses with McAfee and AdAware.
Now, when I restart my computer, a bunch of windows pop up with Chinese/Japanese looking characters and say that device (I think) was not found. I seem to be able to use everything except iTunes and Quicktime. When I open the Task Manager, iPodService.exe and iTunesHelper.exe and qttask.exe are there, but when I click on Quicktime or iTunes the file flashes in Task Manager and then disappears.
I'm not sure where to go from here.
Any help would be apppreciated -- I'd like to be able to open iTunes!

    Hello,
    I used Nickroo's post:
I was able to get iTunes launched (with the help of Tech Support) in a very unsafe environment. I owe it to those who may need this after me. It will get you going, but you will be extremely vulnerable to internet virus assaults. Please do not use this approach, until you have exhausted every other available solution for your issue in the KB.
There are three Steps 1) Uninstall 2) Disble and 3) Reinstall.
UNISTALL Uninstall iTunes using Windows utility Add Remove Program available in Control Panel.
DISABLE Disable all third party System Services and Startup Items using using MSCONFIG utility as described in Service Document http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    RE-INSTALL Re-install iTunes6 + QT7. Launch it under the Selective Startup Option.
It worked ! You realize among other things at this point you have your Antivirus and Firewall disabled. When I started my computer in the Normal Startup Option, iTunes fails to work again. So I have ahead of me the long and ardous task of ruling out the service that is causing conflict with iTunes6. Then work with the software vendor to arrive at a solution.
This seems to have worked so far- I haven't started to go through ruling out what made iTunes not work; I also haven't tried to connect my iPod or burn a CD, so we'll see.

  • Apple TV problem after upgrading to iTunes 7.5

PROBLEM: After upgrading to 7.5, Apple TV no longer recognized iTunes and vice versa.
ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS: Removed and reinstalled iTunes 7.5 from scratch. Reset @TV to Factory Defaults and reconfigured. Removed Apple TV from iTunes Preferences/Apple TV/Remove Apple TV.
iTunes no longer finds @TV, either in the Preferences/Apple TV pane, or in the Device List. Everything worked perfectly before the 7.5 upgrade. All other features and devices working fine. Have reviewed all postings and eliminated the possibility of firewall or port problems.
    Suggestions welcome! Thanks.

I have partially resolved the problem. Something with the 7.5 upgrade changed the network protocols being used by the Apple TV... switching to a wired network from end to end with a full shut down and reboot has the @TV back online... I am still working on trying to solve the wireless side of the equation.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

  • Permission problems after upgrade to 10.5 on early Power PC G5 Tower

Permissions problems after upgrading to 10.5 on a client power PC (early) G5 tower.
Problems include folders that are created on XServe via this client do not allow any one else including this client to access. All other clients running 10.5, which happen to be newer Intel machines do not have this problem. Repairing permissions, updating to 10.5.1, try to manually correct permissions have all failed to repair the situation. All clients log onto the XServe with the same user/password. This client has since been downgraded back to 10.4.9 and has no issues.
The Xserve runs 10.3.9, any help would be greatly appreciated.
We have read through the forums regarding permission problems after upgrading and even tried some tips found here.

You really should check things out first before speaking.
    Here are the requirements for 10.5;
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard requires:
A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867 MHz or faster) processor
    512 MB memory or more
    A DVD drive for installation
9 GB of available disk space or more
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider, fees may apply.
Some features require Apple's MobileMe service; fees apply.

    Hi JZN1994,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that after updating your computer to 10.9.3 iTunes stops responding when an iPhone is connected to it. There may be few different steps you will need to go through to get this resolved. I suggest working through the steps in the attached article.

  • Searching problem after 10.5.6 Update

Hello everyone, we are having a problem with searching shares mounted on clients from a server.
Prior to 10.5.6 we could search an entire share as well as folders in the share. After 10.5.6 we can't search the share and we can only search folders in the share.
The server is currently running 10.4.11.
I guess what I'm wondering is... are there people with server 10.5 that are also seeing this problem or would upgrading the server fix this search issue?
    Thanks

on the other machines that didn't update to 10.5.6. They are able to search all shares. My 10.5.6 machine can only search localhost and Jukebox ...I ran mdutil on the 10.5.6 machine, here are the results:
    $ mdutil -s /Volumes/*
    Indexing disabled.
    /Volumes/Jukebox:

Same problem here, upgraded to 10.5.6 and cannot search our apple server running tiger. Windows shares on 2003 server works fine. Will an upgrade of our Apple server to Leopard solve this issue? Is there an easy way to "uninstall" 10.5.6 without reinstalling the computer

    Hi all...
I recently installed the 10.5.6 OS upgrade and I've encountered a problem. I can no longer search my network attached servers - there is no search activity of any kind when I type in search terms. My local search works fine...I just can't search anything on my network ... windows servers. Is there a compatibilty issue between OS X 10.5.6 and Extreme Z-IP? Any helpful tips

After upgrading our workstations from Mac OS 10.5.5 to 10.5.6, we no longer receive Finder search results from our file server that runs Mac OS X Server v.10.4.11.
Are there any other solutions available other than rolling the workstations back to 10.5.5 or upgrading the file server to 10.5.6

  • Itunes 7.0.2 crashes whilst updating library

    Hi All,
I have just logged onto my itunes and found out that itunes 7.0.2 is available. D/l 7.0.2 and went to run, accepted the user agreement, itunes opens with a message saying 'updating library', gets about 3/4 the way through and i get the message "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close".
    I read several items from support and forums, so far i have;
    - checked for viruses
    - completed disk clean (defrag not necessary)
    - tried to reinstall 7.0.2 (same message)
    - deleted the quicktime files and did a repair to itunes
    - deleted itunes ISCFinfo
NO JOY with any of these actions. Can anyone else shed some light on this problem for me....
    Cheers, dan

    Hi B-Noir
I have had no success with either of the options you offered.
1 - having used the previous version of the library (from sept with only 2400 tracks) itunes crashed in exactly the same way with no option to view any of the tracks as suggested in the tips.
2 - the help point taking the xml file onto the desktop and deleting the itl file never worked either.
    What happens next....?
    Thanks, dan

  • Itunes problem Since upgrading to window10

ITunes problem Since upgrading to window10, my ITunes cannot see the My Cloud drive, also I keep getting an error when my WC control panel tries to scan the content. This drive has worked fine for almost a year and since upgrading to windows 10 my smart TV's and my other devises can't find the drive I have updated the firmware, done a factory reset. but still have massive problems.Anybody any Ideas

This is what I did, In windows credentials from the settings menu I added a windows credential using the IP address, and then the name of the pc with log in details. But during my messing about I also mounted the drive and deleted my C:drive Itunes folder. then re scanned my music once I could set the parameters to the right folder. Its working but I have to admit I am not sure which one solved the problem. WD still working on a reply.Hope you get it sorted.

  • Printer Problems after upgrade to Lion

Does anyone have this printer problem after upgrading to Lion. A perfectly functioning laser printer on my network prior to upgrade - now the network seems to drop the printer and show it as "not connected" approximately every 30 minutes ???

    Hi Paul,
Been away and just got back to this issue.
Thanks for the info. The OKI site has now posted a list of all their Printers and their relative drivers for compatibility with "Lion". My machine is due an updated driver from OKI in Mid Decmber according to this notice.
Meanwhile, as the printer does work with some tweaking I guess I will use the work around until the new driver is available. My legacy printers that i use for special jobs both work and as I do not have the disks for their drivers I am loathe to re-set the printer system at this time.
Thanks for your assistance in this issue.
    Regards,
    Mike, Rustington.
